Sometimes peer pressure can be a good thing. The book was his friends idea.

Will has always been really good at making up stories it was getting him to write them down or even record them that he fought.

I am sure Jacob's time will come when he is a bit older.

Ang, that is exciting to hear that Will is 'writing' a book. There is always more than one way to do anything and I hate the rules that insist things be done one way, or worse yet, the way they have ALWAYS been done. It limits the imagination and people. I would love to see/hear the finished product. Sure to be interesting and funny as well. I am sorry you are going through a rough spot. If listening would help I will lend an ear any old time. You are right in that some things are beyond our ability to do anything about it and all we can do is ride the wave and try to keep our heads above water. It is hard when you are the most responsible person in your family and have as big a heart as you do though.

A teacher friend of mine told me that the reason for the detailed school supply list was to make sure that each child had the same exact things to keep envy etc. down. Silly. Children might as well get used to things not being fair early in life as it prepares them for real life. Silly trying to sanitize classrooms as well as they are only clean for that brief moment in time between cleanings and when someone comes into the room. Granted, if sickness breaks out it is useful, to some extent but each person bearing personal responsibility for washing their own hands does much better.

JM, I miss the days when DW had a variety of unusual foods. I am very lucky in that I am able to eat one bite of something just to taste. I am a bit worried because so many of the CS places seem to have the same carb laden stuff, much of it not worth eating calorie wise, and I might gain weight that I did not even enjoy putting on. Any suggestions from anyone is most appreciated. Tom loves meat and potatoes, hot please and I like unusual things with lots of flavor. I love the Muffalettas at Sassagoula and fell in love with the tuna sandwich at POP, the quality of the ingredients makes all the difference. Pre packaged chocolate cake makes me sick to even think of.

Sounds like you had a great day. Hope you survive MK. I think that because that was the first park it is why it is also the tamest park. Hope the teenager ran into a group of wandering cheerleaders to divert his attention. :rotfl: Do you ever get a bit tired of being the official tour guide to everyone who comes to visit?

I am not a big spender so wandering stores is not a problem, unless it is a hardware store. :dance3: I did buy a new top, very different style than I usually wear. I had looked at it for a couple of weeks and waited until it was on sale though. Most of my clothes I pay a quarter or so for. Our weight club has an auction each week and folks bring in their old clothes.

Cleaning the car today. It needs it too!

We have yet to see if they finish the book. So we shall see and then maybe we will get a copy. lol I told Will you wanted a copy and he said I am not going to type it Chris is. As long as he is writting notes about the characters in the book I am happy.

As for the issues here. They are the type that don't just go away they are more of wait and see issues that you have to think about every day and hope they get better. Thanks for the ear though I appreciate it.

As for the school supplies it was the brand name the teachers insisted on no off brands. Sadly, I learned it doesn't matter if someone has something better or has something that someone else doesn't in grade and middle school someone will steal it and then you have to replace it. Middle school was the worst. I learned to buy yellow pencils because even if there is a color to them and the kids name on them they will get taken by someone but nobody wants the yellow plain pencils. Sadly all they had to do was ask Will and he would have given his things to them. If he had children without supplies ask him to borrow his he would always come home and ask if I could buy markers, crayons etc for the kid without and I would. It beats stealing.

I am surprised the janitors union allowed the kids to clean themselves as that takes work away from the paid employee who's job it is to clean. lol

Glad you bought yourself something nice that cost over a dollar. You deserve it.

I hope you were at the store again when the neighbor wanted her yard mowed. I think you may need to change that lock on the garage as well. lol Could you see setting up a bucket of flour to fall on her head when she goes in next time. :rotfl: I think even her DH would get a laugh out of that.

Hi everyone and Happy BD Melissa,

I am still around, been very busy! Everything is in place for my trip back to POP Sept. 9 - 21st. I reserved my ECV today from Walker. So who wants to meet up?

All I have to do is pack my bags.. Magical Express came the other day......:cool1:

I have been trying to figure out how to do this. Hope it works. Nothing is too good for our Melissa, especially on her birthday!

Ang, I grew up poor and even if I won the lottery I would still get a thrill from a good deal. I spent big bucks to buy myself the new chair. It has been wonderful as it is much easier for me to get up and down and it looks so pretty to boot. I seldom find a piece of clothing that I like but usually do buy it if I do. With my constantly changing sizes I cannot afford to buy an entire new wardrobe, of stuff that I really, really like. Besides, I really do not care a bunch about such stuff. I am getting more interested though. :goodvibes

My male neighbor has the key, his wife has never mowed the yard in all the years we have lived here. I do not like fighting. I will fight in defense of someone else though. Has always been thus. It is hard to get me mad but once I do, it is Katie bar the door. :woohoo: (does this look like a boxer to you?)

I hope your worries are small ones and that they go away soon. If you ever need a few days away you know where to come, just come in cool weather.

Stuff disappears here too. It is much worse in nursing homes though. I had thought to buy Will a special pen to take for his first day of school but maybe not. :sad2:

Please tell Will that either a written or oral book would suit me just fine. Bet he came up with some interesting ideas. I like kid's stories as it gives a window into their thoughts and such. That and a long road trip. :rotfl:

Got the car completely cleaned and scrubbed and all the peony bushes taken care of. Have to hoe gardens and clear the weeds from the front road tomorrow. Wedding presents to deliver and bills to pay. Endless cycle.

I am so glad that I was finally able to get the BD greeting up. Took a couple of tries though.

I am about to drop but I wanted to stop in, see what all of you were up to and that all was well. Thank you for all the birthday wishes. Had a great time at the MK. Started at AK to use my gift card. Bought one of the ostritch eggs they sell in the store by the Safari. Went ahead and used the exchange certificates to renew our AP's. Then Jonas didn't realize we still had to use the old AP's until the 13th and left Jacob in the car. Straight to Guest Services since I didn't realize he had done this until we were getting off the monorail at MK. But after that, everything went just fine. Had a great time with my parents. WCC was fantastic. They didn't do the ketchup like normal, but our waitress MT (More Trouble is what she told us), was FANTASTIC!

Don't know how the teenage brother liked MK, but he didn't join us for lunch, guess he was having a good time. Oh, and no cheerleaders for him, he has a girlfriend and he was getting to spend the day with her.

Even though we had to wait an hour for it, Splash Mountain was still fantastic! Great way to end the day, well actually that Pineapple Dole Whip float was the end of the day.

No, I never mind being the tour guide at parks!

Hope you all had a great weekend and thank you again! I'm going to bed.

Diva K, yep, impressive. It is not that I cannot learn new things but I tend to only learn what I need to and then it is depending on the amount of time I have to learn it. :lmao:

JM, sounds like a great day was had by all. Since your brother had his girlfriend with him and she probably enjoyed some of the hokey MK things he was a happy camper too. Did you get some of those new 15 month AP's? Looks like they are going to cater to the long term, on site guests this next year. By raising the prices that will make our discounts loom much larger, do you think? How were the crowds? Did you notice a lack of customers at restaurants or buying things from the shops? As much as I love the deep discounts I want DW to survive and thrive and be there for my grandchildren one day. Happy Day After to you!

SG, I asked about the 15 month ap and the CM didn't know anything about it. I need to call and ask. Ride times were about the usual for a Summer. 50 or so minutes for Splash Mountain and BTMRR, also Peter Pan. This was about 4:00. Buzz was only a 15 minute wait around lunch time.

WCC had several empyty tables, which seemed off to me. Our reservation was for 1:10. But I know every time I go to buy something in a shop, I wait in a line. Maybe people aren't buying as many souveniers as before. Making smaller purchases.

Happy Anniversary Kris, doing anything special tonight?

And thanks for the birthday wishes Cheryl!

Got a question, I need to get my photopass pictures extended, one is so the BFF Vickie will get hers ready, but also so maybe I can get the Labor Day trip on there. Should I mention I would like to get my Labor Day pics on there or just mention that my friend hasn't had time to fix hers? Not sure how they feel about so many different trips on one CD or if they care.

JM, the way I read the posts about the 15 month pass it was if you renewed a month before or a month after it expired. It often seems as if we DISers know what is going on more than the CM's. :goodvibes

Looks like next year the Values will be more on all weekends. This year they are not on off season, like between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They can plan what they like but if things do not improve they will have to back off. It will make the codes and discounts seem much better though. :rotfl:

When folks cannot use their credit cards and have to turn to cash they are a whole lot more careful about what they buy. It is a good thing but still difficult to adjust to all the new ways of life. I have always lived thus so not so bad for me. Just less to spend. Enough for all the necessities though and that is a lot more than many.

I signed up for two days a week at the CC this coming year. The kids were nearly as excited to see me as I was to see them. We played with a huge slug. A fun time was had by all.
