SG, glad the surgery went well. Can't believe you had to drive yourself there and back. Oh, and do shopping. You are a superwoman aren't you.

My goodness, how did I miss this. Re-read the posts and did not find anything about surgery yesterday. Will read through again.

Linda ~ I'm so sorry I missed this. Am glad to know you did well...but drove yourself home? God bless you, my friend. I know, we do what we've gotta do, but wish it did not include driving home after a procedure like that.

M&N, and just what is stopping you from PLANNING a trip. I often do that, in my mind or on paper. I have several agendas on file for different times of the year and circumstances. Dreaming costs nothing and then if the stars align you are ready to go! POC, true, true. I am always terrified of the dip and then after I ride once I am eager to go again and again. The scariest ride I have ever been on at DW is Millionaire and I miss it soooo much!

Once again, we find we have a nutty, tho fun, thing in common. ;) I used to plan trips to warm climates during the Boston winters. My godson and I would attend the Feb Travel Fair and collect 2 huge shopping bags full of brochures and free goodies (still have the desktop pink blow-up Palm Tree:)). Then we'd go home, spread out all the brochures on the floor and begin planning...we'd plan every detail, the flights, times, research resorts (we were so good at this that I was asked to plan several honeymoons to Hawaii. lol). Then by around June we'd decide to go to WDW. :) Back then, that took little planning - just the resort reservation and the decision to fly or go by train. We took Amtrak 5 times. What fun!!

..sigh...I no longer enjoy pretend planning - besides, for me, there is nothing to plan for WDW - make a resort reservation and that's about it. If I'm going with a friend we'd make some ADR's, but alone wouldn't do a TS. I think I could maybe enjoy an alone trip if I could afford a beautiful resort with a balcony where I could sit all day, cold sweet tea in hand, and enjoy the view.:cloud9:

Hope you are feeling tip top today, SG.

Happy Tuesday to all! :grouphug:

SG, take care of those peepers! I had PRK a few years ago...one of the best things I ever did but I was uncomfortable for several days :3dglasses

Minnie&Nuna, you've sounded so down the last few days...I hope everything is alright

I'm sorry it's been so obvious...last thing we need on a thread for happy planning is a bummed out member!!!!;) I will try to be more careful when posting.:thumbsup2

Any more plans for your upcoming trip/ Did you request an area of POP? Do you have a favorite area? I love a lake view, but only from the 50;s bldg 3 or 60's bldg 4, facing EPCOT. Also really enjoy a 4th floor pool view b/c I so enjoy walking by and hearing the kiddies having so much fun!:goodvibes

I hope you will be at Raglan Road when they have the dancer. The music is bouncy as well.
Our ADR there is @7:15pm...when do the music and dancing start?

Not at all...if you need to talk, thats what we're here for...I've been venting A LOT recently and I've really appreciated having this forum :grouphug:

We've stayed in the 50's, 70's and 80's...I've never requested a specific area...been more concerned about getting adjoining or connecting rooms with whoever we've been with...I thought my parents would enjoy the 50's (Lady & Tramp, bowling pin swimming pool, juke box) because thats their era
Heres a question for everyone:
We have room only reservations Friday (8/14) and Saturday (8/15) our package starts Sunday (8/16-8/21) then we have another room only reservation for Saturday night (8/22.) Are we going to have to check in and out three times and change rooms?!?!? Is there any way to avoid this? We want to get an early start on Sunday (8/16) and be @EPCOT for RD (8am!) and don't want to have to waste time @check-in :headache:
Also, our room only reservation for Saturday 8/22 is for a preferred room (cause thats all they had available when I called...I am calling back to try to get a standard.) I requested that our room be connecting with my parents (who also have a room only reservation for Saturday 8/15.) I will fax our request 5 days before arrival.

Diva Becky just called (didn't sound good :sad2:) her and the boys are going to drive in tomorrow and meet us at Schlitterbahn http://www.schlitterbahn.com/nb/default.asp
Its going to be ANOTHER hot one...100+ degrees! :scared:

JM--LOVED your review of the fireworks event! Especially the guy saying how he starts off wanting the moon and then gets scaled back by Disney. Sounds like all of our trip planning, eh? I think I'd have trouble spending a day with people I didn't know that well, too. Not me so much (like you, I'd just try to go along with whatever the other person wanted to do. . . and probably end up in an Abilene Paradox, lol), but with my dh and kids, I just never know what kind of mood they'll be in, their energy level, etc. Which is why I don't really make many plans for Dis meets--not because I don't want to spend time with you all :grouphug: but because I fear letting people down if my family changes their minds. Don't want to be a Diva Mary, ya know. :rolleyes1

I thought I had better come back and explain myself a bit. SG

I'm sorry it's been so obvious...last thing we need on a thread for happy planning is a bummed out member!!!!;) I will try to be more careful when posting.:thumbsup2

Nobody on here needs to explain themselves or apologize for anything. Especially the two of you--I love to hear you "vent" because you have so many interesting stories to tell. Keep 'em coming!

happy Monday!!! is it really ??? :surfweb::confused3 Have a Great Day Poppers!!!

Welcome back! Enjoyed following your adventures on FB, and looking forward to the next one!

All went well, so far, with the eye surgery. Was able to drive myself there and back and even do some shopping as Tom was out of his junk food and milk. SG

Glad to hear the surgery went well, and of course you stopped at the store for Tom on your way home. Some things never change.

We've never been to Raglan Road, Sci-Fi Dine In, Teppan Edo, Chefs de France so we need to know what the best things are to order at each of these (something about bread pudding @Raglan Road?) Our ADR there is @7:15pm...when do the music and dancing start?

It seems to me that the dancer and band started around 8:00, so you should be good. Our ADR was at 7:30, and we got to see plenty of the show. Definitely get the Gher's Bread and Butter Pudding, but I can't help much with the entrees since I'm a vegetarian so all I've tried is the mushroom burger. Sci-Fi I like just for the atmosphere--the food is pretty much secondary, but you can't go wrong with burgers, fries and shakes! We like the ginger cake dessert at Teppan Edo (guess I'm into the desserts, lol). Are you going to be at Chefs de France when they bring out Remy? The schedule I have says he comes out at 12:30, 1:40, 2:50 and 5:20, and that it takes about 35-40 minutes for him to make the rounds. We're definitely hoping to see him!

We've stayed in the 50's, 70's and 80's, too! I like the 70's best, which is what I'm requesting for this trip. 60's would be nice, but I refuse to pay for preferred--that $15 a day can be better spent other places. Besides, with free dining, I can use the extra walking!

Oy, that's a complicated one! :headache: I know they can note a continuing reservation to keep you in the same room from one reservation to another, but I don't know how they'd do that with the preferred/non-preferred thing. Maybe tell them in your fax you'd rather stay in the same room than switch to a preferred for that last night? You will have to "check in" for each stay, but you should just be able to stop by the front desk first thing in the morning on the first day of each new reservation and pick up new keys. We did this a few years ago, and it was very simple.

 to Diva Becky--hope she's doing okay. And :hug: to you--hope the situation with Diva Mary isn't too uncomfortable. Have fun in the water!

Time to get a move on around here--:laundy: waits for no one!

Okay, it's kind of pathetic, but I'm way more excited about it than any normal person should be, and I just had to share. I couldn't get in on a fridge swap for our August trip, and I refuse to pay $12 a day to rent one from the resort, but I couldn't imagine not having some way to keep bottled water, leftovers, etc. cool. A regular cooler was out of the question since we're flying, but then I found this at Costco:

http://ep.yimg.com/ip/I/store3-store_2055_12331766

It folds down really small for traveling, is supposed to be virtually leakproof, and that rolling cart will come in handy for going back and forth to the ice machine. Best of all--it's GREEN! :laughing:I can't wait to try it out!

Thanks for indulging me and the sad, little highlight of my week, lol.

Hey, that's pretty cool!!:thumbsup2 It folds right up? Now, it's for the room, not the parks, right?

DivaK, we had 3 reservations for the CR one time - 2 ngts GW pkg view, 2 ngts GV and 2 ngts Tower - at check-in they let us stay in our first room the entire stay and did not have to check-in again. I asked when they were checking us in, if there was any possibility we would not have to move (some guests like to).

Of course, we did not have a pkg, so not sure how it will work, but I would definitely ask to speak with a front desk manager if the CM cannot help. Because it is a pkg you will likely have to pick up new keys, but they might be able to do this for you the ngt before...otherwise, be up bright and early (5/6 am) and get it done while the front desk is empty...or try after right midnight.

Good luck and try not to stress about it!! :grouphug:

Bet M&N and I are the only ones who know what my title is. I know the tune also, wanna sing along?

M&N, please do vent. That way I will not feel so badly when I do. It is what friends do and we are all friends here. Maybe someone will have some sage advice, a different point of view or just a soft shoulder for you to cry on. Whatever is needed. I can imagine that it is hard to live with your family, no matter how much you love them and they love you.

Diva K, kinda sounding like there is going to be some disturbing news from Diva B. For what it is worth, when I think back on the worst things in my life, they have invariably turned out to be the start of the best things in my life. May it be so. I think your ADR time at Raglan Road should be fine for the dancing and singing. I really enjoyed it there and the food was unusual which suits me to a tee. :goodvibes I have always had to check out and check back in for each reservation but when I check in they link the reservations and I have never had to change rooms. Okay, once I did, way, way back but GS moved everything and I just had to pick up the new key to the new room when we got back from the parks.

TB, hooray for your new toy. I love gadgets and such also and am allergic to paying that ridiculous fee for a fridge. Because of my meds I get one for free. Sounds like it will be handy for many reasons. Green!! Yeah!!:hippie:

As far as my eyes go it was a very simple procedure, lazer and only felt a bit like someone had punched me in the eye and not that hard. No way would I have went driving to the grocery in traffic if I had not been fully safe. It would kill me if I ever hurt anyone else. The doctors office is in a place that even if somewhat impaired I could drive home safely as I live in a rural area and there are not even any cows to hit on the way home. :rotfl: Thanks for the concern but there was no need. Other eye is being done next week. It was slightly disturbing to Tom as he had to move his leg so that I could put the groceries in the fridge though. I will try to do better next time. (where is the icon for tongue in cheek???)

I have not been on here much the past couple of days but I will provide pictures of my excuse and surely you will all forgive me???

(deleted pictures because I was not smiling and we cannot have that, can we?) lol

Am I forgiven?

SG/who is a very lucky friend and had a delightful time/Gosh I look grouchy no smile, I am always smiling, what the heck happened???

SG, I now have Jeepers Creepers stuck in my head. "...where'd you get those peepers." Is that right?

So glad Ang, Will, and the DH stopped to see you. Ang told me she planned on it.

TB, love your new toy. I'm the same way, doesn't matter how small it is. That's a good idea for getting ice. I've been trying to think of ways to keep water cold. I found a drinking bottle that also sprays water, but all the ice is almost melted by the time we get to Disney. Your toy may be the answer.

We went to DisneyQuest today. Had to swing through the Lego store first. It was still hot, but not like it has been. I have never liked to show my shoulders, but guess I will give up and buy a lot of tank tops to wear on the July trip.

JM, Ang had strict orders not to tell anyone she was coming. I will have to beat her with a wet noodle the next time I see her. She was proud to be the first DISer to get to sit in the famous Red Chair. Not something I allow just any old body to do ya know. :goodvibes

I try not to show my face and after viewing that last picture I am reminded why. I will have to see if I can find another picture that looks more like me, or at least one that I 'think' looks like me. I am seldom without a smile. Really.

Did you buy anything at the Lego Store? I never know what to get. The last time a young man who worked in there helped me find some things that my boys loved. I am sad though cause I just had to box up all the Lego's as my grandsons are now thinking they are too old for them. Many of mine are from my son and since I have always added to the collection each year I believe I have thousands of dollars of them. Hopefully great grandchildren will love them one day. They are timeless. Just like us. :cool2:

SG

Ooops and I thought she was surprising you.

No Lego purchase today. Trying to stop buying Jacob stuff unless he has enough money. Jonas' mother had kept all of his Legos, so Jacob has all of those. Hope there will be more children to enjoy those of your boys.

Jacob is mad that I have all of Thomas train stuff put up but I didn't want it torn up, or with it being wood, the dog likes to chew on it. But I hope he has kids that can play with it one day.

 to Diva Becky--hope she's doing okay. And :hug: to you--hope the situation with Diva Mary isn't too uncomfortable. Have fun in the water!
Diva K, kinda sounding like there is going to be some disturbing news from Diva B. For what it is worth, when I think back on the worst things in my life, they have invariably turned out to be the start of the best things in my life. May it be so.

GREAT day with Becky & her boys @Schlitterbahn! No big announcement....everything status quo. Haven't seen her so relaxed and happy in quite awhile. :cloud9:
Becky sends her regards to all of you...esp SG who ran to Wal-mart for us Divas! :grouphug:

Diva K, I am so glad to have been wrong about impending news with Diva B. I do so hope things work out, in whatever way is best. Marriage is hard work. It is amazing that as many stay together as do. I think the unholy bounds of a mortgage do more for the cause than the vows sometimes though. :rotfl: That and fighting over who has to take the kids. :rotfl2: BTW, I drove to WM not run. I will still be running if that were the case. It was kind of exciting buying party goods instead of cleaning supplies. I felt exotic. ;)

JM, no one should ever surprise me as they might be the ones to get a surprise. It takes a whole lot of preparation for me to have guests. Ang is an expert in all things Tom so it makes it a whole lot easier and Tom behaved himself quite well. Okay, so he told a bunch of stories that were in no way true but heck I am the only one who knows that and they are entertaining stories. :lmao:

Will has gotten so much taller and hairier since the last time I met him but he is just as sweet as always. I never saw a child sit so quietly for so long and demand so little. He ended up playing some pool and when he left I found that he had put the que and rack back where they came from. I have never gotten my grandsons to do that. :woohoo:

If ever there was a match made in heaven it is the relationship between Ang and Will. She is firm and loving and gives him the direction he needs in order to have a more successful life. I so wish that my dh had had such direction and help in his youth but I doubt that anything was known about such things then. I work with learning disabled children and I had never considered the fact that autistic children grow up but not outgrow the condition until the past couple of years. There is so much to learn and hopefully it will be so that everyone can be given the best chance for a happy and fulfilling life. Just because we are different does not mean that we are not valuable. Different is a good thing because forces the average person to think out of the box.

Maybe I convinced Al that I am not a serial killer and they will come back again sometime? I forgot to tell him about the trucking business for sale up the road. They liked the looks of my town. I do too. (they did not go to the other end lol)

Doing some serious cooking today and having another visitor. It is just Kurt, my dear friends son. He is like another kid to me. His sister is the biggest Disney fan ever so I am family to them also.

Hope everyone is keeping their cool, resting up from recent trips, and otherwise enjoying the day.

Linda/SG

CNN is showing Michael Jackson videos...never thought I'd be teary over the passing of Michael Jackson or Farah Fawcet..or Ed McMahon.

May God be with their families during this difficult time. Michael may be almost 51, but he is still the child of his parents and the loss of a child is always and forever devastating.

I don't know if Farrah's parents are still living, but if so, my heart goes out to them as well.

I was not fan in later years, due to the allegations of sexual abuse, but he was certainly talented, especially in his younger days.

RIP, Michael.

M&N, I was sorry to hear of the passing of MJ as well. I have always said that the one thing I could never accept nor understand is child abuse but, IF he was guilty of such I could find it in my heart to feel some sympathy because of his history of abuse and how hard it is to be a superstar in our society. I felt the same way about Elvis Presley, very maternal.

Farrah's father is still living but in very bad health. Also Farrah was never told that her son was in jail. I do hope they let him be with her at the end.

Lots of losses lately. SG

This song got me through many days and nights...hours and minutes after my son passed...not all the words fit, but I made it fit in my heart. So Michael Jackson helped me get through one of the most difficult times of my life. The video one can hear Michael singing, showing the lyrics:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWKtrrg7Sg8&feature=related
Another day has gone
I'm still all alone
How could this be
You're not here with me
You never said goodbye
Someone tell me why
Did you have to go
And leave my world so cold

Everyday I sit and ask myself
How did love slip away
Something whispers in my ear and says
That you are not alone
For I am here with you
Though you're far away
I am here to stay

You are not alone
I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
You are not alone

All alone
Why, oh

Just the other night
I thought I heard you cry
Asking me to come
And hold you in my arms
I can hear your prayers
Your burdens I will bear
But first I need your hand
So forever can begin

Everyday I sit and ask myself
How did love slip away
Then something whispers in my ear and says
That you are not alone
For I am here with you
Though you're far away
I am here to stay
For you are not alone
I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
And you are not alone

Whisper three words and I'll come runnin'
And girl you know that I'll be there
I'll be there

You are not alone
I am here with you
Though you're far away
I am here to stay
You are not alone
I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart

You are not alone
For I am here with you
Though you're far away
I am here to stay
For you are not alone
For I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart

For you are not alone

SG, from what I heard this morning, Farrah spoke to her son on the phone before her passing.

It's been a very sad week, my heart goes out to all of their families.

M&N, I cannot imagine your pain. I wish that no parent would ever suffer such a loss. I simply cannot imagine anything worse. Songs are the bookmarks of our lives. Some transcend their lowly existence and bring meaning, hope, love and much more. I am glad that you found such a perfect expression of your feelings and hopes.

JM, Ryan said that she did not know that her son has been in jail. Small comfort in her last hours. I am glad she is at peace now and what a brave woman she was for sharing those days with others in an effort to educate and help.

SG

Thank you, dear Linda. The song allowed me cry, but also brought great joy. My other favorite -and still is- is Kermit singing The Rainbow Connection. :) Toby sent us many rainbows that first year and I listened to Kermit everyday - and smiled. :)

Doesn't Kermit makes everyone smile???
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4s...ion_shortfilms
Kermit: Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
And look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell,
We know that it's probably magic...

... Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
... Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm s'posed to be...
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

Laa, da daa dee da daa daa,
La laa la la laa dee daa doo...
