Been very busy with P.T. and lots and lots of walking trying to get my right leg back from being numb. Grandson had eye surgery (for lazy eye)on monday and doing well.

Back to work full-time god does it full good! plus I am wearing jeans again.

SG, loved the advice. So true, so true.

Ang, I've heard the idea of putting stuff away like that. Of course right now the way the garage is, if we did that we probably wouldn't find some of the stuff until we moved again. I know, then he really doesn't need it, but then years later the kid will ask for it. That is what he does now for the stuff we threw out 4 years ago. Still haven't gotten his room totally clean, but it is all in the tubs and he hasn't dumped any of them out.

The hubby is heading home this afternoon and then should be here sometime tomorrow.

I have got to get the house clean. Washed all my laundry, of course DH will have some for me to do. Mine is all folded and on hangers, but needs to be put away. I find that the hardest thing to do.

Last night I was watching this past Sunday's episode of Celebrity Apprentice and had to laugh at the fact each time they would do the little news update to get you to watch their news that evening, this was it said "Disney is shutting down a popular ride. Watch us at 11:00 to see which one!" Guess Space Mountain was the big news of the day.

Hi there everyone! This 'trashy' lady has been hauling back and forth all over town. It is Earth Day celebration in our tiny metropolis and we are doing our spring cleaning.

We had sleet yesterday and are expecting 90 degree temps tomorrow. Life in the Midwest is ever changing and unpredictable. Reckon what would happen if I should plant my pepper plants this evening? Please do not plant anything Ang. BTW, crowbars work on hard drive cages, provided you do not intend on using the CPU anymore.

Welcome home the conqueroring hero! I would not spoil him too much with clean clothes and clean house and a fancy meal. He might expect it to continue indefinitely. JM, I am sure you all are delighted and I am so happy for you.

Nancy, glad to hear you can wear jeans again. Normal life seems so much better when it has been otherwise.

I skipped the track meet last night and then found out it had been canceled. They should have canceled the one the previous night as well. It takes a lot for me to get cold but my posterior felt like a frozen turkey the day before Thanksgiving. I ran for the bathroom when I got home and was not able to feel whether I was positioned correctly or not and then I swear I heard the sound of ice cubes and I was nowhere near the refrigerator. My grandson did very well, against kids bigger and much older. His best was a second place win. He was wearing short and a tank top. I have a sore throat. He says next time he will bring a blanket, tie it around his neck and go as Superman. I reckon he might.

Had unexpected company today, some old friends. It was a delightful visit and I was able to share a present I received yesterday. I call her 'Hussy Bear". She looks a whole lot like the bear that hang from the ceiling at CBJ, Theda Beara. She has a boa, pearls and a sassy shirt along with a plumed hat and sings "You Gotta A Friend In Me". Her lips move and her eyes twinkle. Don't know what I did to deserve such a surprise or such a friend.

Have more stuff to put in the trunk and then head to the CC to visit with MY kids. I might take Sassy Bear with me.

I've actually wondered where all those people that wait an hour in line for SM will end up for the next 6 months or so.

JM, I swear I was not joking about how cold I was. The next morning I was still capable of keeping ice cream frozen. I can only wonder how the folks who were far less insulated than I fared.

I have a bil who travels, often for months at a time, and my sil loves it. He will come home and say that he is not going to accept any more jobs but it does not take long before he is ready to leave, and she is ready to let him. I imagine it is much different in your circumstances. Sort of romantic not having him there ALL the time even though there are times you wish he were there. Mine never leaves. How can I miss him if he never leaves?

I love the thrill rides at DW, keeps more folks from bothering me at my wild rides. For me that is Peter Pan. Not kidding, at all. The scariest ride was always IWTBAM. I loved that place and just as I was getting really good at it they closed it down! I never made it to the top, but given the right circumstances, I would have, one day. Just a matter of asking me questions I know. And, yes, I did know the answer to the question at the end of Slumdogs. Font of useless knowledge.

I had a child read 9 books to me this afternoon, small ones and she has an older sister who is a whiz at reading so it was not to MY credit but it was still heartwarming to see her excitement. I love it!

That's wonderful about the little girl reading all those books. Jacob will read some, but he is so scared of chapter books. Keeps saying they will take him forever to read. I caught him lying to me today about his reading. Just flipping the pages and not really reading. So I start asking questions that he can't answer such as, "What did Gladys do?" Jacob's response, "Things." I know, shouldn't laugh. I turned the pages back to where he started and he did read then.

Oh, you guys might like this story. Last week he hurt his knee. Yesterday I was speaking with one of his counselors and she said she found him in the elevator. Conversation goes like this:

Ms. Boyd: "Why are you in the elevator?"
Jacob: "I hurt my knee"
Ms. Boyd: "But why are you in the elevator?"
Jacob: "I hurt my knee."
Ms. Boyd sees this is going nowhere so then she asks, "Why are you still in the elevator?"
Jacob: "I was waiting on the door to open."

He didn't realize there was a button to open the door. Well, the story got around to all his teachers, so when another teacher asked about him being stuck in the elevator he said "How does everyone know about that!" I'm going to have his daddy ask about his elevator ride when he sees him. It will totally blow his mind.

Got to go watch Criminal Minds so I can be scared about some other type of crime.

Chapter books rock!

Ever meet someone and like them and never get to see them again? With short books it can be like that. With a chapter book you get to know them a lot better.

When you read a "little boy" book (sure to get his attention) they do the pictures but when you read a chapter book YOU get to use your imagination and can imagine anything you want.

If a book is a good one it will be easy to read no matter how many pages. If it is a bad book it will be boring even if it only has one page.

I suggest that folks start with just reading one chapter at a time, sort of like a whole bunch of little books in one.

It is also difficult because there are fewer good books for boys than girls. Does he like sports? Find books about dinosaurs, sports, whatever he likes. When you find one that he likes look for more by the same author.

I compile my book lists from Amazon.com's list of most sold books in the category I am interested in.

What a cute elevator story. Little people do not know everything that we older ones do. I hope he is not embarrassed. He was just being very well behaved.

Did you get scared with Criminal Minds? The scary thing is that they take almost all of their storylines from real life stuff.

Back to getting rid of 'stuff'. I am loving it too!

Ice cubes Brrrr!!! that must have been an interesting experience. It stinks having kids in sports in the North where they have games in freezing weather. As a kid it didn't bother me but as an adult it is awful. Glad the GS did great and you had fun at the CC. Little girls are fun to teach at that age.

Will used to have some Star Wars and Pirates of the Carribean small chapter books. Would he try those since they might interest him? Will actually got hooked on chapter books when he started reading the Magic Treehouse books but he also loves history. Once he read one he didn't stop and I am sure that will happen for Jacob soon too.

I too have the DH who is gone for work but home for a couple hours on a Monday and then about once a month or so he is home for a week. I love when I see him and get excited when he will be home for a week but by the end of a week I am ready to clean my house and have it stay that way. I swear he is worse than William. LOL

Do you know if they have certain times when he's supposed to come out? I'd like to try to plan my ADR around him (pathetic, I know). Have fun up north!

Angela--I should have married someone who travels for work. Like Linda's dh, mine is here all the time and, like yours, he's harder to care for than the kids. His last day at work is tomorrow, so the next few months may be interesting. Good thing we both have ipods!

Oooh, we can discuss AR when you are here in June. I'm a big fan of it also. Have watched every episode of every season. While in TX, the local cable company got into a disagreement over money at contract time, and we actually didn't have CBS for about 6 months. I was so upset about missing a whole season of AR. But it finally aired on the Travel Channel and I watched every night at 8:00 until I got to see the whole season.

I read what you said to Jacob. Don't think he got it. He has done much better with this later book. Called, Club 39. Comes with some clue cards you are to look up on the internet. Which we need to do, but it is a series so I hope he likes it.

Luckily for Jacob (who is not know for the best behavior) most at the school think he is cute (which is probably part of his problem) and have a hard time not laughing or smiling when he does some of the things he does. They know he is smart and doesn't mean to do some of the things he does.

Watched both episodes of Criminal Minds last night. Exactly what you said, you know those stories come from real life. Have you ever seen the movie Hostel. I read that the writer did hear about a site just like the one in the movie. When I saw the movie, that is what freaked me out, the thought that there might be a website like that out there, and then to learn there really is one.

I bought Jacob the entire set of Star Wars books through Scholastic, but can't get him to read them. Most of the chapter books we own, I let him pick out. He does like to read comic books, so we buy a lot of those. Wish the school would count them as reading. Jacob is a visual person, so having the pictures is much more appealing to him. I don't care to read them. To me, the pics sort of get in the way.

Well, DH is home and wants on the computer. Guess I will go cook supper. Everyone have a good evening. Diva K, I'll be watching Survivor with ya.

JM, the Magic Treehouse books are fantastic and kids love them! They teach so much also. If Jacob reads comic books that is something and when he outgrows them he might be interested in fantasy type books. There is a whole series of Spiderman books as well. If Jacob can pick out what he wants to read he will soon find plenty he likes and will go one from there. Forcing kids to read a certain book is nearly always a failure. They have to think it is their idea.

Ang, what person are you rooting for on AR? I have my favorite. You might guess which one.

Yep, husbands are much harder to deal with than kids. You cannot tell them to be quiet, straighten up and fly right, or much of anything. Okay, you CAN but they are even less inclined to listen. Other folks think you are being mean too. If you do not make it too comfortable for them they might find other places to go but that brings a whole new set of problems.

Spent the day transferring c/d's from one bank to another. The interest rates are insane. I was very conservative and had figured on 5% income from our investments and I was lucky to get 2% one place and 2.5% another. Only place to cut back is on Disney vacations. Many are losing homes, cars and such so I am trying not be an ungrateful brat. Hard though.

Ang, I had full faith that you and I would agree on who we want to win AR. Survivor, I want the black lady, who is married to a sports star to win. Biggest Loser, anyone except the mom who threw her daughter overboard. I never root for the villain to win. I hate shows where that is the only way to win. Rupert is my favorite reality show star and he is an Indiana boy!
