OK so I am curious as to what people think.

On DU the following is showing for the TA:

Do you think that the rooms will be released at the lowest rate first? If so what do you think the chances of getting one at that rate would be? Do they release rooms at the same rate i.e. all at the lowest, or could you in theory find that the Cat 9 is cheaper than the Cat 12 due to that being released at a lower rate? Are there only a certain number of rooms released at this lower rate and do they go fast?

These are the prices on the DCL website also and I was wondering the same thing - why is there such a range on prices. The rate also goes up if you have just one person in the room. I don't think the WB is going to sell out like we think. There are a lot of people talking, but I think with prices, people's schedules, etc. it won't happen as fast as Disney would like. It will be interesting to watch.

This is the way I think it works. At each cactegory there are a certain # of staterooms. As that # is reached, the pricing bumps up to the next price tier for that category. So yes, I have seen realtime pricing on DCL's quote sysyem where a category 5 is actually a bit cheaper than a category 5, for example.

The other thing DCL has done in the past when a cruise is not selling well, is sell category 12 rooms with "GTY" room assignment. There are only a handful or category 12 rooms available total. They sell more than they have and this one way that people get the magical "upgrade". However, I don't think this will happen on opening day. When the cat 12's are gone on the 14th, they are gone (for now ) I could be wrong about this though. On the EB TA in 2007, there were a whole bunch of us that booked or switched our ressies to cat 12 GTY a couple of months before the cruise. We ended up in a cat 11. We're sticking with a cat 9 - had no problems with it while on the EBPC Repo, especiall given the amount of time we actually spent in the room was very little.

I really love having a balcony, but you are correct, we spent so little time in our rooms because we wanted to spend so much time with our friends that not having a balcony wasn't and issue.

It's only 6 months longer than we had to wait for the EBPC Repo and in hindsight it did go rather quickly. A couple of the things that made it go quickly were doing research on the ports and spending time here on the DIS getting to know others.

So where is the research Lorri. Come on you are falling behind on your OCD.

We did it the hard way. Booked the May 2007 TA on opening day for DH, DD#3 and myself, but had to cancel in late 2006 because of DH's work schedule. Then 4 weeks before sail time the price was simply too good to resist, and we rebooked for myself and 3 DD's. DH stayed at home (work actually!) though. Now we are going to try again for DH to make the trip

How fabulous to have so many familiar people from last year's repo and the double dip!!


I'm glad the lanyards were a hit. Jason and I love having them...they're convenient to carry your KTW card, they help you identify your fellow DIS cruisers...and they're a nice souvenir....so i'm glad others liked them...and, if there's a feasible way to do them for this trip, I will absolutely take the lead on that (and perhaps Sandi and Hadley (who hasn't yet appeared on this thread....but don't you worry...I'll get her!! ) will be my lovely assistants again! ). (I should also make a note here that I can accept no real credit for lanyards because while I did do the organizing and design for the recent trip....I totally stole the idea from another amazing DIS friend, Ken aka kpros, who sailed on the EB TransAtlantic with us last year and did the lanyards for that trip.)

Yeah, don't he and his wife rock?! Actually a bunch of us "core folks" from the EB crossing last year are still active on another thread (including Hoagie Pie and CACruisin....I think gismo might still be posting there now and again, too)....and I've been trying to apply pressure there for more of them to join us on this trip. That journey was one of Jason and I's most amazing experiences ever...not only because the trip itself is so phenomenal...but all the close friends we made on that journey.

I so want to be on this cruise. We are so new, we haven't even been on our first cruise yet. After reading the disboards, I know that I want our family vacations to be on a Disney Cruise! I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer:

What time are reservations open on the 14th? 12:00 a.m. EST?
Best to book online or on phone?
Will the prices be posted before the 14th so we can decide beforehand what category to book?

Depends on how the TA books. Some call, some book online. If they book online, you will get the deposit promotion. Unfortunately since this board is sponsored by Dreams Unlimited, that is the only TA that can be discussed. There are many others out there who do a find job. I will be transferring my dummy week myself then shopping around later for a TA. I'll just go with whoever is offering the best on board credits.

As more and more cabins start selling, the rates start rising. What I'm not sure of is whether they look at the number of cabins in a category or the number of cabins sold overall before bumping up the rates.


I'm wondering if Disney is putting the Cat 12s on sale now instead of waiting until closer to cruise date. Or could it just be a typo? I'll probably go for the 12 just to save the money. If I end up getting bumped up, great, if not, I won't suffer. I survived many inside cabins. In fact, the first time I ever had an outside cabin was the 2007 TA where I booked a 12 when it went on sale and ended up in a 9.

For the last Transatlantic, the person that did the lanyards ordered them early and mailed them out ahead of time. I'd be willing to pay extra for postage so you won't have to schlep them to Spain.

Yes, but you have to pay attention to their 'rules' for the OBC. Usually the credits are offered if you book (or transfer) to them by a certain date.

Most of us who took advantage of the sale switched from a higher category down to the 12. I think one family ended up staying in a 12, others got 11, 10 and 9s. I don't think anyone got upgraded higher than a 9 from a 12. Many others got upgrades too though. Todd (Captain Jack) got upgraded from a 6 to a 4.

One more question....DCL website is saying that rates start at $999 does anyone think that will be the case or do you think they will just stick with the $1099 to start?

I know the WB cost more then the EB last time. I think this time though more people are going to skip this one bc it is going in Sept vs Aug. I am thinking this ship might be less full then DCL is thinking.

Sitting here weighing cabin options with my DH. The wait till Tuesday is killing me!!!
