DCL opens at 8 am EST so that would be 5 am PST , but I think I may have heard they were opening earlier , can anyone confirm this :confused3 :confused3

I called today to listen to the TransAtlantic recording and they said 8 am on that.

5 am isn't too bad - I've been getting up at 6am so I'll just go to bed a little earlier.
I've just talked myself into this - I was going to wait until May 2010 to see if the WB TA went on sale!!

Why wait , if it goes on sale you can always call an get the sales price , or if you have a great TA they will see it and make sure you get the sale price as well ...

Hello All...Looks like I'm booking this tomorrow! Cat 12 here I come. I've seen some of the medheads from june 16 and some of the westbound pc posting so it'll be a nice reunion if we're all on this. I wanted to do the med, but the price and even the points cost is some much more, just the repo. At least they have ports I haven't been too before. So it's all new to me. I'm very excited to get back to barcelona and explore the rest I wasn't able to see last time.

Look forward to meeting all of you.

Steph

Amen to that !!!! - we had quite an adventure Jan 31 2007 trying to book the Aug. 2008 Panama Canal Repo.

Good Luck to all and pixiedust:

I've been researching airfare and have discovered that it is cheaper to not fly directly into Barcelona, I've found airfare for under $400 to Dublin and for under $200 on to Barcelona. DH and I are thinking of flying out the Wednesday night prior - going to Dublin and spending the day there and then flying on to Barcelona that night and spending the next day touring Barcelona. We will probably end up booking into a hotel that DCL works with and getting transfers for at least that leg of the trip.

Lorri - this may have been answered but its extremely easy ( and to me a bit cheaper) if you grab a taxi and provided its only 2-4 passengers to go this route. We did this, ok I did this both time. When the family traveled, we were a group of 6 and we stayed at a hotel at the top of Las Ramblas. On departure day, we just asked the bell guy to call a van - which he did and we were literally about 5 minutes away. Not too far and they dropped us off right at the front gate. If it weren't for the line in front of us - we could have walked right in.

On the TA WB, we stayed in a small apt further away and we again called 2 taxis (we all had more luggage) and made it that way.

Also, assuming they are berthed at the same place, there is only one Muella and the taxis should know where it is - if all else fails, just ask for the Disney Ship location.

So don't count out that option if you find a cheaper hotel.

If I can do - anyone can.

We will want to go to Disney Paris first, then maybe a couple of days in Barcelona. What is the best way to get from Paris to Barcelona? I think we will be dealing with luggage issues again within Europe, correct?

Um......make sure you check fine print. DH booked me a leg from Charles De Gual to Barcelona, he told me it was 44 Kilos and so I happily went along. At the airport - the guy at the counter told me it was actually 20 kilos (DH had made the mistake of mixing up the weights and the actual weight limit was 21 kilos and I went with 33 kilos but he managed to sneak me in at 31. I paid a hefty fine of $100 Euros (:scared1: at that time about $140 US dollars) but I had no choice. Please read the fine print when they mean one bag they mean one bag. HOWEVER, I noticed that carry-on was not really checked as long as you were able to carry it on. I thought they would have been more strict on that but they weren't then.

And I thought I was the only one so behind in my scrapbooking :lmao:

We are thinking of going a day or so early - but no idea of things like where to stay, etc - ideas? :confused3

I stayed on Las Ramblas and at an apt about 1/2 mile from there. Both were nice. Important thing to remember is what is more important - $$ or activity. If you need nightlife - definitely stay at or near the Blvd. However it can get a bit lively at night so be careful. Off-Ramblas was nice too but definitely a walk. On the return trip, a friend managed to snag a small apt with 2 bedroom for about $650 for 3 nights I think. We split the cost and it was nice - 2 bedrooms (small though) with a kitchenette, living room and a small balcony oh yeah it had a small single washer/dryer which we never really learned to use. :rotfl2: . It was actually nice and much cheaper than a room right in the middle of the Blvd. So keep all options open.

Be sure to check the luggage restrictions for the Dublin-Barcelona leg, since European carriers are much more strict on the wieghts. Usually a total weight limit per person, not per bag. So you can check in say 5 bags, but the combined weight can't be over maybe 20kg (about 44lbs). I know 20kg is the limit for Easy Jet, not sure about any other carrier. If you start in the US and then have a connection, you must follow the US rules. But if you take a solo European flight, you must follow the Europe rules.

::yes:: that was the limit for Air France which if you read the story above - makes sense and the reason why I paid about $140 US dollars in overweight. I could have lied when the counter person asked me if I was traveling International but I was afraid to lie in case I was caught. He tried to get me to say it and I guess technically I was going to go "International" but I was going to stop in Barcelona for a few days. Just call me Ms. Dudly Do-right-tell No Lie. :rotfl2: (a by-product of that Catholic education) :rotfl:

OH how cool! He is going to love it. If anyone need any recommendations for private tours, I can always check to see if I still have the cards for the private tours. I really recommend Pompeii to be done privately if you can swing it. We had a bit more time there and we managed to hit both Herculaneum and we climbed Mt. Vesuvius. It is not an extremely difficult climb but depending on the time you go - its hot or cold. We hit a cloud which made it cool and thank God vey bearable otherwise, we would have died from exhaustion. It is a bit bare up there but at least you can say you climbed Mt. Vesuvius. Or however you spell it.

I'm going to admit I am a bit jealous but heck, I'm just happy I'm coming on the return! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see you all again - and we definitely need to ketchup on this one. BTW, you all dressing again? :)

Good luck to everyone tomorrow! I refuse to worry about anything this time around - the TA has all our requests and what will be will be (though I'm keeping my fingers crossed for first tier pricing).

Its all in the hands of fate ... or our TA at this stage - I'm not going to stress about it :)

Good luck to those also making calls/booking online, may the phone lines be clear and the online bookings free of Mickey swimming :rotfl:

I'm not sure what costume Paul will go for this time. He won't reprise the Sao Feng character - too much weight!! He's already thinking about it - I'll probably just be a "wench" again!!
I'll be back down to SoCal way before the cruise - so hopefully we can get together and "ketchup"!!

Off to bed....good luck to everyone tomorrow!

I just want to get this booked then get the website up and running!
