Hello and welcome Barb. The best way to get up to speed is to check out the website (fastest was I know to tell you to find it is to go to page one and clikc on the link in post one):thumbsup2

Thank you! I will do that. My job roll changed this week and I have been swamped. The old "Do More with Less" like most companies are pushing. I don't have to much free time to post anymore:mad: Hopefully things will slow down some and I can catch up.

My husband is from New Hampshire. His neice is here staying with us for a few days checking out colleges so I have the day off. Think I will try and do some reading. It will take a few days off to get caught up!:lmao:

Hello everyone - YEAH! to Dave - we are excited for you. Also, I have to call my dentist today for a check-up and now I am scared. :scared: I think I might wait till Monday or so. My dentist in Phoenix was so wonderful, but since I moved to Florida, I haven't really been jumping up and down to see one - bad me, I know, but after reading the boards, I am ugh! Thanks for sharing because I think we all have dentist stories and we don't like them for some reason or another.

My stiches took about a week to fall out. Hopefully you will feel better soon. For the people that just got back from the cruise - was it decorated for Christmas? I love the big tree in the lobby!

About the meet in December, my tickets are not good for that day - they expire on the 21st for Florida resident season passholders so I am boo hoo! Keep me posted if anything else is planned.

Just want to comment that my dh and I stayed at Le Meridian last year and it was just finished up a re-hab and was really nice. Right on Las Ramblas but not noisy at night, free internet and coffee and snacks and convenient within walking to a number of sights. We were hoping however that the Marina hotel would still be offered as we really liked that one and you can see the ship which is always exciting.

These are the hotels on DCL

AB Skipper
Hilton Diagonal Mar
AC Barcelona
AC Diplomatic
Hotel Le Meridien

This is a great site that breaks down the Barcelona Hotels by location and ratings.
http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/ramblas/ramblas-hotel-barcelona.html

We are currantly booked at Le Meridien, but I am looking into other options. Because we booked Air with our cruise it will cost $75 per person for "deviation" if we book a hotel on our own. :confused3 Plus, it may change the cost of airfare. Alot to think about, good thing we got almost 2 years to figure it out!

Good morning fellow cruisers,

pouring rain again today :sad2:
But the weekend is suppose to be dry:goodvibes

Sandi, I didnt just get off the ship but I do know they typically decorate at the end of the Thanksgiving cruise. The last 3 years I have cruised the saturday after Thanksgiving and it was the first cruise all decorated.

Last year they didnt quite have the gingerbread house done, so we got to watch them finish it and boy did it smell good:cloud9:

I'll try and remember to get a picture of the tree and post it for you when I get back this time;)

Have a great day everyone,

kathy

We will be on the Nov 30th cruise of the Wonder can't wait to see the ship decorated for Christmas:santa: :santa: :santa: last year we did the NYE cruise on the Magic and they had already started taking decorations down. Kathy that gingerbread house you saw them putting together I saw coming down the last day of our cruise:sad2: :sad2:

I have 3 teeth that are cracked because I clench my teeth when I sleep. I will have to get crowns when I decide to do something about it. I'm not looking forward to it.

I clench my teeth too. :headache: I have for years. I just got my first crown a few months ago, but I know there are many more to come.

I have mostly crowns now, with possibly more to be done next year. :headache: It's all down to a problem that wasn't picked up until I was an adult and the fact that I grind my teeth in my sleep. I thought I'd managed to kick that habit, but DH says otherwise. :rolleyes1 When I was a teenager, my dentist fitted me with a gumshield that I had to wear when I went to bed - it really was a glamorous item for a young girl growing up to own! I of course didn't wear it as often as I should have and eventually it got binned. ;)

After having numerous crowns done, I find the worst part to be wearing the temporary ones whilst my custom ones are being made. I'm glad I'm not afraid of going to the dentist's office because I've had to have various treatments over the years (including root treatment and a tooth removal earlier this year) so I can feel your pain. :scared: Try not to worry about getting your new crowns too much, it'll all be worth it in the end! :teeth:

Thanks Tink. I think I am going to set up to get mine after the Holidays.

I haven't heard back from DCL about the hotel yet. Time to give them a call.

Hi
Probably a silly question - but hopefully one which those who have previously done a westbound TA will be able to answer.
Is the food on board likely to be the same wonderful quality as the food on the Caribbean cruises. I ask this because the ship will have been in Europe for some time, and I was wondering whether they have their food supplies flown from USA over or whether they use European suppliers. We had such fantastic food on board the Magic in October and hope it will be the same on the TA. I am sure that the chefs will be able to create wonderful menus with whatever raw materials they are supplied with, so I am hoping we will have the same amazing food on board.
Did anyone on the last TA have any disappointment with the food after having cruised before in USA? Thanks.

i was on the aug 07 repo there will be some minor differences like the diet coke being lite coke. i didnt seem to see any difference in the food quality from the 7 night cruise that i was on to the aug 07 repo. in my opinion the food was a lot better on the aug 08 repo hopefully it will stay that way. we did run out of some food items, nothing big just odds and ends. mainly some fruit. when we got to castaway cay the wonder dropped some food off for us, and that night our last night we had diet coke. you said they had fantastic food in october good they are keeping up with the good food.

I have not had a chance to read all the pages from our vacation.
Was anyone able to get the menus from the last Transatlantic scanned?
No rush, I just didn't want to miss them!
Thanks!

Hey Guys,

Need your help, got an idea yesterday. You all know that I sponsor 2 soldiers right? Well, I've been in a state because I recently had some packages returned. My first thought was that something had happened. I haven't heard from any since before May but I plod along as usual assuming they get the packages as they have never returned.

So last Monday, one package came back. Finally heard from on organization and they reassigned me to another. The other organization does not have anyone right now but DESPARATELY needs help for some wounded soldiers at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center I believe in Germany?????

Anyway, they are trying to fullfill a request from the Chaplain over there -they want to hand out 500 Christmas Stockings and she only has 30 pledges right now. I believe with the economy being the way it is - she may not get this request filled. I, myself, am committed to 3 and I thought - what better way than my DIS family to try and help.

So, here is what is needed. This is a one time project and much simpler to committ to than a one year writing committment. All that is required is stocking with some items in it to be mailed before Thanksgiving and if using priority mail - by December 1st. HOWEVER, even if you miss that deadline, please mail it. The organization likes to hand out the stocking to wounded soldiers around Thanksgiving. Last year this lady orgainzed 1000 stockings.

SO, if anyone is interested, please PM me and I will give you more details on what to buy and who to write too to get the address. You all know for security reasons I will not post here but it is of vital importantace that we help our wounded if we can. Also, don't feel like you can't help if you can't sew - I am DEFINITELY not a sewer but we have this wonderful Dollar Tree Store that sells stockings for $1. That I can do!

Thank you all for listening!

:goodvibes

If interested - please contact me via PM or e-mail and I can suggest what to send - and what not too - also, the Post Office has some flat rates for military personnel and you can probably get 2 stockings in it for less than $10 to mail.

Thank you for your time!

Actually it's Coke Lite in Europe and it doesn't taste the same. It's not a bad taste but not the same (or as good IMO) as diet coke. ~One good thing was that in Paris they still have Coke Lite with Lemon and Orange. I love the flavored stuff!(I brought a liter of Coke Lite with Lemon home in my suitcase lol) I love the flavored waters in Europe also. I had some wonderful Orange/Tangerine water in Barcelona. That makes up for the lack of Diet Coke. I would expect that the Diet Coke on the ship will be the same but, who knows. It's an adventure. Think of it as a chance to try something new.
Think it depends which European country you go to. The UK and I believe Spain both have Diet Coke
Welcome! What is the NHS?
National Health Service. Over here we get free health care

DH and I are back from our wonderful week on the Magic!
We had wonderful weather. (although it rained on the day we were at Grand Cayman) and we had a fantastic time.
For some reason it was extra painful going back to work yesterday and getting back into the swing of real life has been painful.
These are a few shots from Castaway Cay.

We had BEAUTIFUL weather that day. Not too hot, but plenty warm, and only a slight breeze, and lots of sun and blue skies.

Oh my God that's beautiful!

Dave's hair's cut, suit pressed, shoes shined, nothing to do now but DIS:rotfl2:

Welcome to the new folks:flower3:

I seemed to have missed some info when I was too busy to keep up on the thread. What are we calling captain's dining vs. crew dining???:confused3 We have "rugrat free" (LATE) dining (note--I DO have kids who will be dining late with us--please do not take offense;) ) does that equate to captain's or crew?

You're on Crews! Captains is the early one.
I think the cabin crawl sounds fun and I have never done such a thing. We are gtys at the moment so I really can't offer up ANY room as of yet but I would love to see other's.

Someone asked about being in inside cabins. We have been in inside cabins for 6 of 7 cruises. We do not have any issues with it. Generally if we are in the cabin we are sleeping, showering or changing so the lack of a window is really not an issue. We get plenty of natural light all day long out and about on the ship. Others feel strongly about wanting a window/verandah though:rolleyes1

I agree with you that I don't find it an issue but its personal taste I guess

Sarah, welcome back (hard, isn't it?).
Absolute nightmare lol. First day back in work today and it seems everything went wrong while I was away and the rest of the team were too rubbish to deal with any of it so guess Im going to have a busy next few days! Trying not to stress out but I so need another job! At least our strike has been posponed (cant spell) so not loosing an extras day pay this week!

Suspect the distance quoted might be the distance by road hence solving the mystery, but like the 'its magic' explanation much better. This would also explain how Mickey can appear on two cruise ships and numerous theme parks all around the world on the same day.

Do you think using that much magic to move around has long term health issues.

Ah its cause he doesn't use magic persay he uses pixie dust and thats also known to cure all ailments lol
