Those hotel prices are crazy! DH and I stayed in Paris for 8 nights for under $2000. DCL is looking into hotel for us but it looks like we will most likely just fly in the day of the cruise. That was one of the big ++s for me about the EB--the fact that there was an overnight in Barcelona on the ship. Too bad they aren't doing that on the WB.

I also wonder why DCL doesn't cruise out of Civitavecchia? I would have loved to have shown the kids Rome. I LOVE Rome. No offense to Barcelona but, there is so much to see in Rome. I wonder if it is a cost thing?

Kids are back to school today after having the day off yesterday.

Also most Hotel rooms in europe are for no more then 3 people , if 4 people some will make you get 2 rooms ....

Does this mean you can arrive early and spend some time in Barcelona pre-cruise? I thought they just flew you over the day before the cruise. Would love a little time to see the town after flying all the way over.

PS: I'm not a pirate fan, but am not opposed to everyone else enjoying it. I just don't wanna be a pirate.

If you are using Disney air, you can choose to come in a day or two early. However if you do that, you must get your hotel from Disney. And if you want to come earlier than a few days (not sure of the exact number) then you must go through their diversions department and there is an additional fee, $50 or $75, don't remember exactly.

Good morning everyone

I was originally staying at Le Meridian when I booked the cruise. I was shocked to hear the price for one night $615.00 for one person, I am traveling solo(I can stay at WDW value resort for a week and then some for the same amount!) I called DCL a couple of days later and got the Hilton for $415.00 for the one nite. I am flying over on the 16th with arrival on the morning of the 17th. I am hoping maybe I can get a tour of the area when I arrive.

If you don't get a tour through Disney, I suggest you look into the Barcelona on-off bus. They have three routes, but the shorter one (Barceloneta) is not as good as the other two. You can get off at different stops, including Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell and the Gothic Quarter. There are one and two day tickets, depending on how much time you have.

Morning everyone,
after reading all your posts this morning I have a question.
This may sound dumb but since I have never done this cruise before and very little out there to read about it yet I will take the chance and ask anyway .


we booked inclusive with Disney and will be flying in the day of the cruise ( in the morning, I assume).
After we check in on board do they have excursions later that day we can book through DCL to explore the area? What time can you board?

Are we there until late so we do have some time in port?

Does DCL typically get you there in the morning so you do have the day to explore?

I would hate to get there late afternoon and not have time to enjoy the area.

Either that or I highly recommend the http://www.fattirebiketoursbarcelona.com/ For the money this had to be one of the highlights of our trip to Barcelona last year ... There is a couple people on this thread that went with us and it covered pretty much everything ...LOL it was a very mild ride (it did Rain though but just briefly ) Price was right and the guide was filled with information and History which was great for me ...LOL


Maybe this is something that could be added to the website under ports ???

That is what DCL is looking into for us. We have six kids and they aren't going into rooms by themselves lol. We are waiting for a call back. I assume that they will tell us that they can not accomidate us but, who knows.

I hope DCL offers tours on the day of embarktion. When I sailed the Med with Carnival there were tours offered on arrival day. We landed in the am so we had plenty of time for a day tour on the way to the ship. For us that would be plenty for Barcelona. I was thinking of flying in the day before just to give the kids some time to adjust but, it's not worth thousands of $$ for that.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely look into this. I would like to see some sights when I arrive in Barcelona and most likely I will have a whole day before we cruise.

I told him I do not care how late he is finished up he HAS to call me--I will not sleep until he does (not that we will know anything other than how Dave felt it went tonight, but it is good for me!).

Hi, another two crew members signing on. Myself, epcot1stfave ( Michael ) and DW hotfudgesundae, ( Patricia ). We have been on a 3 night cruise this year and enjoyed it so much we decided to book this when it opened, so we have been onboard since day 1, just that we are more of a lurker than most. Been keeping up with all the posts though.
Tried to get the logo into siggy but it comes up at the beginning and wipes out the ticker, will have to keep trying I guess. Anyway plenty of time to get it right.

Hi Goofygranny, I'll be two months shy of my 61st birthday by this cruise...does that qualify? I know there will be a pretty good representation of BabyBoomers on this cruise (some who haven't shown up on this thread yet). There will be lots of folks to play with.

Thank you everybody for your well wishes. I'm at work today, a little loopy from the pain meds but feeling ok. I'm eating my soft Kraft Mac and Cheese with my Jello Jigglers and yogurt for lunch! Gotta love the soft diet!!!! But at least it's out and hopefully the pain will soon be over and done with!

I went to the Dentist today for a cleaning and he noticed I have a crack in one of my back teeth. OK it's a little sensitive, but jeeze, I hate dental work!
