I need category help... Is it really important to have a window or balcony? We can save 3500.00 by going with 2 category 11 instead of 1 11 and 1 6. This is our first Disney cruise so I am not sure if it's worth the extra cost. We are trying to keep the cost down since the airfare will be high. I am worried about not having natural light in our rooms for 2 weeks.. :confused3

Personally I love the inside rooms but thats just me. Depends whether the light is a real issue. My mother claims she can't have an inside room as she cant tell the time without real light

Interesting news this morning, Ryanair planning to go transatlatic, bet that will stir airfares up a bit if it happens.

They are a budget low cost airline with no thrills. Wonder if it will be in time for 2010

Seriously Ryan Air is notorious in the UK for either running behind schedule or cancelling flights at the last minute! Dont see how them going TA will make it any better but who knows

Interesting. Now my question is are nautical miles the same as actual miles? Just thinking this might account for the difference?

Nautical mile are slightly longer than real miles...However Knots is slower than MPH ...so since the above is both Miles and MPH there probably not and Nmi and Mile issue..

A statute mile is 5,280 feet in length.
A nautical mile is 6,076.11549... feet in length.

1 knot = 1 nautical mile per hour = 6076 feet per hour
1 mph =1 mile per hour = 5280 feet per hour

Dont think we will get lucky with an upgrade this time , even though I think the ship will have less people on it ...We have connecting 9's so I doubt there will be a move up , but im good with it ..

By the way Steph , do we have a list yet of what dining everyone has ??...

We usally do

Captains Dining = Early Dining

Crew's Dining(traitors dining) = Late Dining ...

Okay , Who has Captains Dining and Who has Crew Dining ????? Speak up you Pirate and Princesses and make it be known if your in Captains Dining or Crew Dining....

pirate:

We're Crews Dining Im afraid

Not done yet: do we have a cabin crawl scheduled? I would love to see what a "sideways" v. regular cat 11 looks like, a navigator's verandah. I would love to see a non-midship cat 3. Of course I would love to see a Cat 1 and 2 as well. Is anyone organizing this? If not, is there any interest here?

Me and my sister organised this on the WB TA and thought it was fantastic. We did treasure maps too so that people could follow the route around the ship. Would love to be involved in this again (although would rather take part than organise as I ended up not seeing any of the rooms last time as I was trying to get people to hurry along the way lol). I wouldn't mind helping with maps or stuff though!

Cabin Crawl: we have a midship cat 3. I'd be happy to arrange a cabin crawl if there is enough interest. PM me your cabin number and type/description, and I'll start getting a list together. :)

Oh, and no one knows what the Magic is doing after we get back to PC?

As said before I don't mind helping out if you want any info from the last TA. Would donate our room but think we've had a few Cat 11s going already. Oh and last time we got a Cat 3 and I think the Roy Suite to put on some nibbles for the tour (free of course) which was nice. We had savoury in the one - cheese and pretzels, then cakey things in the other

Good morning everyone,

I just finished catching up on posts here. I hope everyone feels better soon.
We have lots of colds and viruses going around here too. Luckily so far only colds have hit home here.

For those who have done a TA before can you give me a heads up on what your weather was like?
I am trying to figure out what clothing to bring and knowing the weather will really help me make my decisions .

Thanks,
kathy

The weather on the EB was awful! Very rocky and rainy but on the WB it was lovely. Only one bad day. But bare in mind this year the EB is a month earlier and the WB a month later roughly

Fairy Godmother, Were you on the Magic in Feb 2008?

Nope. There is another Fairy Godmother on the DIS. The spacing on the name is different.
Yeah I think the other fairy godmother was the lady with a few children that was on the WB last time. I think she only brought some of them with her though or something like that! I spoke to her a few times and cant remember her name (awful with names) think it might be Dee. She is lovely!

Gismo1554 - glad you are back, but the beer story at the Wings place is as gross as the Spider - I think I would take the spider in the pool over that. You poor thing - glad you liked Toy Story Mania - one of my faves!

jewelmickey - sounds like you had a great conversation about Barcelona - find out any good restaurants or wine bars?

T Rex was excellent and worth it! We had a blast, but our waitress was the best - she tested Abby's knowledge on dinos, played around with us and gave us tons of knowledge on the restaurant. Her name was Karen - so request if you go!

Yeah have to say I would probably take the spider over that lol

We didn't make it to TRex but wish we had! We hovered there one night but ended up at Ragland Road instead (they had Tucher on tap!)

Welcome home!!!!!! Sounds like you had a great trip overall!

It was pretty quiet on the boards over the weekend...that's why we didn't hit 100! LOL!!!!

lol fair enough! Also I suppose with there being Halloween Veterans day and an election over there in the US there is bound to be a lull over here (thank God cause just got through all the posts)

Hi

We have finally committed myself and booked this cruise so we am very happy to be joining you all. We are Sarah and Tony, a forty-something couple from Wales in the UK - we both work for the NHS, I am a midwife and Tony works for the patient transfer dept. We have 4 teenagers (19, 17, 17, and 14), who will not be joining us on this cruise, as they will all be at college / school.

This will be our second Disney cruise after having just cruised on the Magic on the Halloween cruise 2008. I have been so depressed since returning from such a magical holiday that there was no cure but to book another one, and this was such a good deal it was rude not to really. We have opted for a CAT 11, although deliberated long and hard about getting a verandah, but ultimately we didn't spend much time in our CAT 11 this time around, so figured it not to be worth the $4000 price difference. We will also have financial commitments with college etc and probably a couple more holidays lined up that year so it was either CAT 11 cruise or no cruise - no contest really!

So a great big hello from us - this thread is already so well established and I hope we will be able to join in with some of the DIS activities. We had a fantastic group on our last cruise and really enjoyed meeting lots of people. I am looking forward to chatting with you all over the next 23 months!

Sarah, welcome back:goodvibes I am glad to see you had more good than bad expereinces and are the types to enjoy the good and take the bad in stride and come home smiling:upsidedow You are my kind of travelers.

We did try! It was a little hard but we joked about it all and even had allergy watch each day to see how long it would take for me to come up in a rash lol Im sure I looked a mess around the parks but hey Im on holiday I could look a lot worse!

Fair enough no idea about the distances then - unless the max speed is 24knots so then it would be

Distance is 993 nautical miles then it would still take 41 hours but if the max speed was 28 knots then it would cover that so I don't know

Distance from Barcelona to Gibraltar 1,143 miles.

Maximum speed 24 MPH or thereabouts.

Cruising time between leaving Barcelona and arriving Gibraltar 36 hours. Now I know they have done this before but I reckon even at maximum speed thats 300 miles unaccounted for

Hey have to ask where in Wales are you from? Me and my boyfriend Dan are from Newport and are booked on the cruise. We're Cat 11 too it was the best option and value

WELCOME Sarah & Tony,

Nice to meet you both.
Just caught up on reading the last 2 days worth of posts:goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a good day today.
It is pouring rain and very windy here, cant wait to be on the Magic later this month where I can dry out a bit;)

WELCOME - WELCOME!!!

Forgot to post this before I started catching up on the thread. Me and Dan (welshwizurd) are back from our trip to Florida. We had a good time but were really jinxed lol. So far our list of things that went wrong/were bad luck are:
 1. 5 hour delay on way out
 2. Food poisoning at Islands of Adventure
 3. Bad incident at Buffalo Wild Wings at Crossroads where I ordered a beer, saw it sat on the bar for 10 minutes then my waitress proceeded to take a straw from a random glass on the bar and stir my beer in order to give it another head. I explained what I had seen and asked that I get a new beer and was told that it "still tastes the same" although she did pour me another beer!
 4. I had a serveer allergic reaction to my steroid inhaler bringing me up in a gross rash all over my body for 3 days
 5. Me spraining my ankle (I know how clumsy am I?)
 6. And finally a 2 hour delay on the plane coming home

Still we had some absolutley fantastic things go right too and so far our list is:
 1. Brilliant meal for Dan's birthday at the Yachtsman Steakhouse
 2. Great food at Margaritaville in City Walk (not where we got food poisoning)
 3. Went on Toy Story Mania twice and it was fantastic although Dan beat me both times
 4. Great meal in Marrakesh EPCOT
 5. Had Mickey Mouse buy me Churros in Animal Kingdom as the cast member couldn't log in to the system and didn't want me to wait too long to be able to pay for them
 6. Some lovely food in EPCOT at F&W such as Spanakopita in Greece & Chicken Bastilla (I think) in Marrakesh
 7. Great day at Seaworld including fantastic beer tasting and a beef stew in a bread bowl
 8. Great food at ESPN, Ragland Road, House of Blues & Tune-In Lounge (Common theme of bars here Im afraid)
 9. Good night at Jellyrolls
 10. Nice night at Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween (but it was freezing cold that night so couldn't stay past the fireworks and parade)
 11. Great night watching Joe Calzagy fight on our last night
 12. Saw an anteater at Animal Kingdom which I have never seen and all 3 cheetahs were out and about on the safari

Welcome back! Sorry about all the bad stuff - that bit with the beer, gross!

Hi Mike:wave: !

No problem getting diet coke. The Mickey Bars ran out because of the fact that they couldn't import them. Diet coke is available throughout Europe and does taste the same I assure you

Actually it's Coke Lite in Europe and it doesn't taste the same. It's not a bad taste but not the same (or as good IMO) as diet coke. ~One good thing was that in Paris they still have Coke Lite with Lemon and Orange. I love the flavored stuff!(I brought a liter of Coke Lite with Lemon home in my suitcase lol) I love the flavored waters in Europe also. I had some wonderful Orange/Tangerine water in Barcelona. That makes up for the lack of Diet Coke. I would expect that the Diet Coke on the ship will be the same but, who knows. It's an adventure. Think of it as a chance to try something new.
