I'm guessing that DCL don't have the experience of Esta like airlines as this is the first cruise taking people into the US from countries requiring Esta acceptance since it has come in properly. We also only have the print out acceptance with the number. As you say we aren't required to show a copy. We will all have to tell DCL, but I bet they want to fight us!!!:confused3

Looks like we are all in the same boat then

I thought it was all supposed to be electronic. When we go through immigration, they swipe our passports and our status should come up.

Yes - but I did wonder if they would have the facility to do that at the port in Barcelona?
When we check in for a flight here in the UK it shows we have filled in the Esta. I read the fines for a carrier are very steep if the passengers don`t have the right documents.
Corinna will know for sure.

Doh! Sorry Marilyn, I`m repeating back to you what you`ve already said!

What is a ESTA? Do we all need one. Never read that we needed this.??

if your not american you need one

The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is a United States government requirement (mandated by the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007) for participating travelers from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries arriving by air or sea to complete online the I-94W form (formerly paper-based and filled on arrival by participating VWP citizens) in advance of travel to the United States.

basically you go on a website and fill in a form and it gives you permission to travel

Oh dear, I sense more stress with all this. I think as long as we have our acceptance number we should be ok. You wouldn't get the number if you weren't accepted.

The problem is the acceptance number has no personal details on it & therefore if Disney intend checking the acceptance its going to take longer to check in

Well I only redid the Estas a few weeks ago so I'm not thinking I want to do them again because DCL can't get organised. All we are asked to do are fill out the Esta and be accepted. I haven't had the email from DCL yet, but I will copy and paste the relevant info from Esta telling us what we need, i.e, the number, not a copy of the form. Have you done that?

I guess we can go on our Esta site as if we are going to update it and print out that part, but of course it isn't the full form.

It sounded like the house was ok, just everywhere a mess. Haven't heard about any injuries yet. Very scary.

Yes, I've been thinking about Laura and family today too and hoping they were on their way. What a bad start to their vacation. Hope something is sorted for them soon. I'm just glad their cruise doesn't leave tomorrow.:scared1:

From FB:

Paula Sillars All ok thanks - no power still and phones overloaded, buildings down in city apparently and two friends have their chimneys in their houses now - we get these all the time but that was the biggest by a long way - the aftershocks feel like what we usually get!

We always traveled with a portable or disposable changing pad cover, and would use that on top of the bed, floor, or any other flat surface we could find.

Ok, thank you. We'll have some covers with us...

And I have one more question. Just to not offend anybody, because we are European and quite ... "liberal"...
Americans are not "offended" by me changing his diapers right at the pool? Are they? I mean... seriously... ;)

Babies are so time consuming(so Ive been told:lmao:)
take care and see you soon, Lynne x

Lynne... and it is NOT only the child. BUT also THE D.O.G.
Miss Moogie was a little sick last night... She puked... in the middle of the night... Cause she had to eat something rotten she found in a bush.
LOVE my D.O.G.
Always love m D.O.G.

We received a letter from Disney today ... Tony didn't open it earlier because I was at work and I haven't opened it since I returned because he is still at work. We want to open it together.

If it is just that ESTA letter I will be really disappointed :sad2:

What is a ESTA? Do we all need one. Never read that we needed this.??

The vast majority of Canadians do not need this visa. Here are two quotes from the U.S. State department's website:

What about Canadian, Mexican or Bermudan citizens and VWP?

Canada, Mexico and Bermuda are not participants in the Visa Waiver Program. The Immigration and Nationality Act includes other provisions for visa-free travel for nationals of Canada and Bermuda under certain circumstances. See Citizens of Canada, Mexico and Bermuda. Since they are not part of the Visa Waiver Program, VWP requirements for machine-readable or biometric passports do not apply to nationals of Canada, Mexico or Bermuda. Also, it should be noted that some nationals of Canada and Bermuda traveling to the United States require nonimmigrant visas.

That's from website page:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html

And then:

Visa Requirements - Citizens of Canada, and Permanent Residents

Citizens of Canada traveling to the U.S. do not require a nonimmigrant visa, except for the travel purposes described below. Additionally, Canadian citizens who are ineligible for a visa under immigration law, or have previously violated the terms of their immigration status in the U.S., can Learn More about ineligibilities related to Canadians on the CBP website. Canadian citizens with ineligibilities also have the option of applying for a visa and a waiver at the nearest U.S. consulate if it is more convenient for them.

Canadians require nonimmigrant visas for temporary travel to the U.S. for these purposes:

Foreign government officials (A), officials and employees of international organizations (G) and NATO officials, representatives and employees assigned to the U.S. as needed to facilitate their travel
Treaty traders (E-1)
Treaty investors (E-2)
Fiance/es (K-1)
Children of fiancées (K-2)
U.S. citizen's foreign citizen spouse, who is traveling to the U.S. to complete the process of immigration (K-3).
Children of a foreign citizen spouse (K-4) described above
Spouses of lawful permanent residents (V-1) traveling to the U.S. to reside here while they wait for the final completion of their immigration process
Children of spouses of lawful permanent residents (V-2) described above
Permanent residents (aka landed immigrants) of Canada must have a nonimmigrant visa unless the permanent resident is a national of a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), meets the VWP requirements, and is seeking to enter the U.S. for 90 days or less under that program.

Additional resources for Canadian visitors to the U.S. can be found on the U.S. Embassy and Consulate websites in Canada – including links for Entering the United States, and Business Travel to the U.S..

Not sure about citizens from Mexico or Bermuda, but suspect it's similar. You should be able to find the information in the same sections of the State Dept. Website.

Bottom line for Canadians: Unless you're an unusual traveler (like a diplomat or importer), No Worries! :thumbsup2 BUT you definitely need a passport, which you'll need to get into the EU anyway!

See You Real Soon! :flower3:
