I think that means my DH will be starting the day with a Bloody Mary along side his eggs... followed by a Bloody Mary after the eggs, and another mid day by the pool, and them moving to beer as they start to serve lunch items like pizza and wings... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Sounds like a plan. I think I'll go with screwdrivers instead of the bloody marys though

I'll race ya on the Pelican Plunge Corrina! :dance3:

Thanks everyone for your pixie dust and well wishes, It amazes me how much love everyone has here. Holly is doing OK, Surgery went well, she is home, dosed up on pain killers and low dose sedative to keep her calm. She won't let me out of her sight, that's OK, I won't let her out of my sight for a while!

:yay:

I'm so glad your pup made it through ok. Good thing you were on top of it right away.
As for the pelican plunge, well i'll be in line as well!

Do we have a date for this yet??? And is there a list of girls attending???

Thank you... :flower3:

Ooh, I want some, too!! I just made some wonderful gluten-free, dairy free cookies for my older son. Of course, I had to try one and they are to die for!! Easy, too. Only five ingredients--powdered sugar, cocoa, chocolate chips, walnuts, and egg whites. Kaz or Richard, if you want the recipe let me know!

We don't have any dietary restrictions, but I'd love the recipe. They sound fantastic. How can you go wrong with 2 types of chocolate, plus sugar???

We were booked as a family until we realized that the 3 in high school would just miss too much school--so we cancelled--now we're back on, but just for us parents!! The kids are guilting us, but we are considering booking the May crossing for them. This'll be our third TA, so you KNOW how much we LOVE the DISNEY TA!!!!!!

Are there any lanyards still out there? If not, at least what color are they? We'll make due if we're too late. LOL! I'll even make my own handy-dandy name tag! The lanyards were so cool to have on the previous trips. I did send a note to Tigger(bunch of numbers), but haven't heard back yet.

Anyone remember me from other cruises??? Is Hadley still going? CAcruisin? I can't wait to see old friends. Lorraine!!!!! Here we go!!!!

Looking forward to my happy place!

[/QUOTE]Welcome to the cruise Lorraine!

Since you know many people on the cruise some of this may be known to you by now. Erik (Tig82174) is the person to check with if he has any lanyards left.

We are Noel and John Birkner from Woodside, California. I am 59 and John is 66. This is our 4th DCL cruise but have cruised many times on other cruise lines.

Other DIS members I am sure will answer more of your questions, so let me give you some general information about our cruise thread.

Be sure you read page one for all the exciting things that are happening on this cruise. Here is a partial list.

1. PM DisneyVegas1 to see if there are any cruise shirts left. Here is the Link to what the the shirts look like. Last post I believe there was 1 AS. If that size don't work for you, you can print a copy of the logo from the transatlantic pirates site and make an iron on tee shirt
2. PM Buckeye Gal with your hotel and flight information, see Post #17
3. Decide if you want Mickey Mouse shirts which some of us are wearing to dinner of Sept 28 and if you want to join us to order or print your own tee shirt, see post #1
4. If you want to link your dining ressies, PM Mrs. Mork if you are early or PM Totally Angelic if you are late.
5. Sign up on the roll call and send your pictures to the our cruise website at Transatlantic Pirateswebsite.
6. PM Connie (Con5421) if you would like to purchase a lanyard pin. see post #11.
7. Let mdwoodman know, if you can join the HRC pre cruise meet on 17 September @ 1700. See post #5
8. Go to: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...thkey=CJmPqOcK
and put your DIS name at the bottom of the list - then put in the sizes you need for your wristbands (they are a free gift) and fill in any other information you would like to share!
9. PM (Private Message) Sarah (Gismo1554) if you have any special occasions or birthdays that you are celebrating on board so she can put in our personal cruise Navigator.
10. If you are interested in a private St. Maarten tour, see post #2, PM birkner if interested.
11. A list of activities and a mini navigator link is posted on post #15.

Hope that gives you a good place to start. Any more questions, please ask away.

Noel

Your children are adorable!!! :lovestruc

I wanted to post this close to the cruise so many will read it. If you see me and I don't respond to you this is why....please do not take offense,,,

In 2001 I was working in a call center and I started getting migraines a lot. I kept telling everyone I smelled gas. I unfortunately can smell a dirty diaper on a kid quite a distance away. That usually meant I could not pretend not to realize my kids needed changing. :lmao:

So, when no one else could smell the gas, I went to the DR and he had a CAT scan done. I really thought I was going crazy and the migraines were coming on more and more. I also did notice that some other smells were also bothering me. So on a very cold day, some one else finally noticed the gas smell and we called the maintenance guy and he smelled it too. They fixed the unit and I didn't smell it any more. But I was still getting migraines from different smells. I managed to find a little vial of oil called Uh Oh Migraine and I would rub a little of it under my nose, and sometimes it really helps. I also discovered Equal was helping to start migraines so I cut that out.

For the last five years at my last job, if anyone came up to the front desk smelling very strong of cigarette smoke or cologne, I would just have to call my co-worker and she knew why I was calling her because if I didn't it would get so bad I would have to go home. When they did a total remodel of the downstairs, I went home. The smell of the new carpeting, the dust, cleaning solutions, just made me crazy. Same thing happened when part of the upstairs was done. When they would have to daily clean the preschool room, I just made it a point to be in the back of the building or out to lunch so I would not be affected. When walking past anyone smoking, I have to hold my breath or I will start coughing and gagging. Hubby still insists on going outside to smoke his cigars and when he comes back in and wants to talk to me, I have to turn my head so I don't smell the smoke. The worst colognes are Polo, Jean Nate, and patchouli. I literally get sick. So if I greet you and then don't hug you any more after that, it is only because you are wearing something that gets to me and could start a migraine.

Trust me, I don't like this at all, I feel awful when it happens. I remember wearing Jean Nate and would literally douse myself in it. If I offended anyone, I wouldn't know cause I felt I smelled great!!! Now I only use certain Bath & Body products and I mean only a few of them!!!

Okay, back to fun stuff!!!!

I don't wear any perfumes anymore and I don't smoke, so if you are in need of a hug, come find me!!

Hey you chatty bunch! Hello!

We're back from a small weekend camping trip in our pop-up. I am going to take a lovely bath soon to wash away the weekend's grime but first I thought I'd quickly catch up - ha! 30 pages since we left on Friday!?!

It's been a bad week: hit part of our roof/car port structure as I slowly rolled out pop-up out of the driveway. We had to immediately go purchase and install a wall jack to avoid the carport from coming down. We got to our camping site at 11pm - we still went to avoid disappointing the kids but leaving to go camping at 930 at night was not fun. Now we have to do the real repair of replacing the supporting structure for our carport (which is a major portion of our roof, is all tied in together). Argh.

We also had our trailer battery stolen at some point in the past, and discovered it gone this week. Argh.

I hit my hand at the hospital and a diamond flew out of my ring, and I injured my hand. Ring is currently being fixed. Argh and ow!

I annoyed a co-worker at work severely (we usually get on very well) for something I didn't mean to do, and I'm feeling the strain of our relationship being wounded. EEk.

We had a very annoying bank matter than is ultimately fine, but was as bad as banks usually are, compounded by a rude overseas operator who had a very bad connection and was very frustrating to deal with. We can get back that two hours of our life correcting that problem! Sheesh.

And besides that, work has been unendingly stressful and consuming, and juggling everything seems too darn hard these day.

I keep joking that the cruise is going to be so fantastic, and nature likes a balance, so she's just giving us these petty annoyances ahead of time to right the balance for our trip to be totally fabulous!

You really are needing this cruise!!
Hello all,

I believe there are quite a few DVC members sailing on this cruise. We have been looking into DVC for quite some time and wondered if from past experience if there were better incentives for buying in to DVC onboard?

We bought on a cruise. I do not know if the incentives were different than what they were offering on land. We have had amazing vacations that we would never have been able to do without DVC. :dance3: The advice I would offer is "buy where you want to stay" and this might require buying resale. We bought at VWL onboard because that is what they were selling and that is NOT where we like to stay, but when going at busy times or needing more than one villa for family gatherings that require booking at 11 months that is where we have to book and stay.

It might be a good idea to meet so folks who are interested can get the good, the bad, and the ugly. We've only owned for about 3 years now. We did buy on a cruise; the deal seemed very good to us and I have to say we've never ever vacationed as much as we have since we bought DVC (and I LOVE that). Downsides? Of course, but nothing is perfect. Overall, we've definitely enjoyed it.

:thumbsup2

Poor Dennis .... sorry to hear he is still feeling poorly and having worsening eye problems ... sending :hug: and hoping that the surgery sorts everything out for him. It sounds very frustrating.

Frustration is exactly what he is feeling. He will be all better soon though!:thumbsup2

These sound good!
I only wear a small amount of Shalimar so I hope I do not offend. Shalimar had been my signature fragrance since I was a teenager.

Shalimar was my fragrance of choice from teenage years as well. I still have some, but rarely wear any now. It would be the only one I would wear though.

I copied the information below from a website about Barcelona.

The Spanish really care about their personal appearance and image, they don’t really wear casual clothes as we know it. The Catalans especially are very proud people and like to look good. They are keen on designer clothes but even more important to them is quality and fitting. It is not hard to find Spanish clothes of very good quality at a reasonable price, which is great for visitors.

Do respect religion. The church is still an integral part of Spanish life and wearing shorts or being scantily dressed whilst visiting a church will not be appreciated.

Do not flaunt what you’ve got! When my friend came to Spain she complained of all the disapproving looks she got from the older people on the metro. This was because she was wearing a mini skirt, which is no crime but perhaps consider dressing more conservatively.

Do dress up a bit if you are going out for a nice supper. You won’t be turned away if you’re dressed casually but you will probably get some looks.

Do not wear shorts in the city, save them for the beach, wearing them elsewhere will label you as a tourist. A skirt or loose-fitting trousers are just as good in the heat and will protect you from the sun.

Do take the time to have a look around the shops, there is a great variety of shops here, and as I’ve already mentioned the quality of the clothes is normally good.

Do not wear a bumbag. I know they’re very useful but tourists mainly wear them, and in fact they are easily removed by slight-handed thieves. If you must wear them then the Spanish tend to carry them on their shoulders like a normal bag.

Spot the tourist! Classic examples of clothes not to wear if you want to blend in with the locals

Do not wear shorts/mini skirt with strappy tops/bikinis. Despite the fact that on the beach less is better seems to be the rule (don’t be shocked at topless girls with thong bikinis..there are loads of all ages!) in the city women tend to be more conservative. Dressing in what could be seen as a provocative way will most likely get you some unwanted attention.

If you do get attention the best thing to do is completely ignore it, sustained eye contact could be taken as a sign of flirting.

Typical summer clothes worn by the locals in Barcelona
Do choose fitted styled clothes. The Spanish dress well and their clothes fit well and look sophisticated. In the Winter people tend to look quite smart all the time, in fitted jackets, boots and darker colours.

Do not wear bright, garish coloured clothing. You will notice that as a rule the Spaniards seem to prefer muted, autumnal colours, like green, yellow ochre and burgundy. However this is changing and shops for the young are full of brighter clothes. Whichever way you choose to go also remember that the Spanish are big on outfit coordination, clashing colours and mis-matched styles are a no!

Do get your denims out, they are very popular here in every style and worn throughout the year.

Do not forget about your shoes, the Spanish love shoes, and for them a pair of shabby shoes can let down a whole outfit.

Business Clothes:

If you are coming to Barcelona for business then bring your work clothes. For men you will be expected to wear jackets and ties even if it's hot. Women wear dresses or skirts.

As a general guideline, the more casual your clothes are (shorts, vests, flip flops) the more you will stand out as a tourist.

Barcelona is however a vibrant multi-cultural city so I wouldn’t worry too much, unless you really want to blend in and look as local as possible. After all nowadays you can find every styled clothing here from dread locked hippies, trendy denim clad teenagers to smart, conservative dressers.

I hope these Barcelona Clothes tips and dress code will help you feel more relaxed on your visit to Barcelona. There are thousands of tourists who don't have a clue what to wear and are easily spotted. With this article you needn't be one of them if you don't wish to be.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We looked at this site as well and were amused that the photos they have on the site show people in shorts and casual shirts and if I remember correctly there was a female in a skirt of some sort with flip flops. :confused3

3 weeks , are you kidding we leave in 2 from today :scared1::scared1:

pirate:

Hope you get all sorted so you can take off as planned! :cool1:pirate:

We had a similar experience on the Metro but the act was not completed. I caught the person attempting to put his hand in my bag which only had some souvenirs that I had purchased. I made such a fuss that he jumped off at the next exit.

Good for you!:thumbsup2

Mandy - Congrats on the weight loss!

On my way to Tampa again. Friday I was backing out of the garage and hit the rearview mirror on the side of the garage. I told my DH that it is the "rite of passage" for women. I have 6 girlfriends that have hit, drove into, or ruined something in or near their house with the car. It is a chick thing. Needless to say, now I have to pay the price and drive the car to Tampa, sit and wait and PAY THE BILL!:scared1:

Everyone have a great day!!!

Thanks Sandi!:goodvibes Sorry to hear about your car...you're right tho it's a rite of passage!:thumbsup2

We had a great time thank you Karen. We also spoke to Bob by Skype and webcam!!! He is very fed up, but should be home Thursday I think.

Well done to you and well done to Mark!!!:thumbsup2

My Mom introduced me to Shalimar and I love it, but sadly, it gets to me now.

For those of you who are going to do St Maarten on your own, you might want to be aware that the NCL Epic is schedule to dock an hour after the Magic.

My brother is on the Epic (or as I call it, the UGLY boat) this week. I've told him I'll get some pictures of Beauty and the Beast while both are in St. Maarten.

Although I do think the ship is rather ugly, it does have some cool stuff and good entertainment; they saw the Blue Man Group on Saturday night and go to Cirque Dreams & Dinner on Thursday.

Do we have a date for this yet??? And is there a list of girls attending???

Thank you... :flower3:

Connie PMd me this morning about creating an event for Champagne Girls; I asked her for some additional info, but she did state it was Sept. 23 at 1pm.

I guess I could create the event now, and add details later. With the name 'Champagne Girls' there shouldn't be too much confusion. :lmao:
