I am with you there!! I was just looking at all the toiletries that I use as well today. No way to take travel sizes for 3 weeks!! A lady must look her best!!
womeninrollers.gif

I agree! I might not always look my best, but I can assure you I'm trying! :rotfl:

John and I are off to a back-to-back ophthalmology appointment, he at 11:30AM and me at 12:00PM.

I am sure I will come back to 10 pages!!

Good Luck!

Having been shamed into starting on the packing by all you organised cruisers.....tonight had to be the night! Bob gone to work. Blinds well drawn. Into the cupboards...
The SWIMSUIT try on!!!!!:scared1::eek::scared1::eek::scared1::eek:
Needed an adult beverage to get over it :lmao:
Once faced..have managed to find a one piece swimsuit and a two piece I am reasonably happy with; of sufficient fit, modesty and coverage as befits a geezer in training :thumbsup2

Oi, That is scary! The swimsuit try on, at least it's better at home than at some swimwear shops with flimsy curtains in the change room and a 15 year old shop assistant with a tiny waist, great tan and perky ****s! :rotfl:
Good luck with the shorts...

I got the most thoughtful surprise in the mail that I just have to share with you. What a treasure that is! Little did she know that I still hadn't decided on what I was taking to have autographed, either. I had a difficult day yesterday, and this little "hug" was just what I needed. Soooo sweet and thoughtful that Tiffany is! :lovestruc

That really is special Kimberly.
I hope your having a better day today. :flower3::hug:

I have decided most men, given the chance, would be quite happy wearing the same clothes all week!

Ditto :lmao:

Ok - need to get a move on crossing more things off my list. I ordered a "Bra Stash" today to carry extra $$ and things.

OK, what is a bra stash??? :confused3

Makes me proud that you enjoyed Germany, and you listed lots of placed in Bavaria... :thumbsup2 And Austria of course.

I have a tip... Next time you visit, come to see my hometown: REGENSBURG.
Maybe not that famous, but not that far from Munich. You won't regret!

Gruss gott

no problem said from the heart :thumbsup2

love bavaria ... which ofcause has to include austria

Regensburg looks stunning i love the bridge across the river

its a world heritage site your so lucky

yeah just north of munich of munich so very easy to get to

Good Morning to all that travels West. On our last TA trip they never had football on the lounge TV. Is this something they don’t show or was my timing just off?

Hi All
For those of you who are concerned about forgetting something or require something extra for the rest of the journey there's a MORRISONS supermarket only a short(about 10 mins) walk from the terminal. Morrisons, for those who are not familiar is a large UK supermarket chain something like the quality and range of PUBLIX, it's just like any normal UK/US supermarket and all staff speak English. I've added a link, however the map shown on there website is incorrect if you check-out Google maps it shows the exact location with photos, it was formally known as SAFEWAY, yes it was the same as the US version until bought and re-branded as Morrisons, of course the store will be duty free, and I understand that good vodka (and Rhum) can be had for £7.00 ($10.86) per Litre.
We're going to stock up on a few things including the bulky and heavy items(mouthwash, kitchen towels etc) you want to take but would tip the scales into excess baggage charges.
Hope this helps. http://www.morrisons.co.uk/Store-fi...ibraltar&recordid=1&lat=36.12930&lon=-5.35200

Only three weeks next Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:
See you all then.. Jane & Dave.

Gibraltar is a VAT free jurisdiction.

Tops (eek!):
2 cardigans
4 T-shirts (includes our WBTA Logo and MMC t-shirts)
7 blouses (includes Champagne Girls)
1 Ohio State University (American) Football Jersey (for Lifestyle photo)

Kimberly,

Excellent list (well, as far as a guy can tell). While I will keep out of your 'mentionables' drawer, I thought I'd offer a suggestion regarding your 'tops'.

Tops (eek!):
2 cardigans
4 T-shirts (includes our WBTA Logo and MMC t-shirts)
7 blouses (includes Champagne Girls)
1 Ohio State University (American) Football Jersey - Scarlett (Home games on 9/18 and 9/25)
1 Ohio State University (American) Football Jersey - White (Away game on 10/2)

I think Sue thought I was crazy for packing a jersey I wouldn't need until the day we disembark, but one has to have ones priorities. :lmao:

I got the most thoughtful surprise in the mail that I just have to share with you. I know I've mentioned on here how incredibly sweet Tiffany (Gradysmommy who makes FEs for many of you) is and how disappointed I was when they changed their plans to not go with us on this cruise. She contacted me a little over a month ago saying she bought a lot of lanyard pins on Ebay for her kids to exchange during their next WDW adventure in September. In the lot, there was a buckeye nut Mickey Ears pin. She said as soon as she saw it, she knew where to send it. :) She sent me a picture of it, and I was just so excited! I've never seen anything like it before! Wasn't that nice?!!

So a large envelope comes out of my mailbox from her today. Now why in the world would she put this little pin in a large padded envelope? I got inside, opened it up, and literally started crying.
happy_tears.gif
She made me a buckeye pillow case for the cruise for autographs. O.M.G.! :goodvibes What a treasure that is! Little did she know that I still hadn't decided on what I was taking to have autographed, either. I had a difficult day yesterday, and this little "hug" was just what I needed. I truly did love working there and I nearly stayed in Florida. At the time, there were no FT positions available and I couldn't imagine renting an apartment on $6.00 an hour with a PT position. My logical side overruled my heart at the time though.

I was just talking to DH today about my CP. I said to him that we may have never met if I hadn't come home, so things do end up working out very well! :lovestruc

Funny, he's thinking the same thing. He met his wife at Disney, even though she also comes from Long Island. They never would have met if it weren't for Disney.

Thats great, I need stuff like, nail varnish remover and crap as Len would call it, is the prices the same as the uk do you think(-the vat)

Its duty free but I have been told that the basic prices are a bit higher than in UK Should still be cheaper than paying for excess luggage

Gibraltar is a VAT free jurisdiction..... Yipeee!!

well friend of mine went to gridaltar and he said it was like a british high street without tax so yeah yipee

from my research

Many of the big British High Street names are here such as Marks & Spencer, Morrison's Superstore, BHS, Mothercare, Evans and Dorothy Perkins, amongst others. They follow british hours of shopping 9-5 instead of spannish though i think saturdays they close in the afternoon

from what i hear its like being at home in the UK

just be warned

British pounds can be used without any problem although Gibraltar has its own pound which is not in return, recognised in the UK. A lot of the stores will also accept Euros, even some will take US dollars but the exchange rate may not be the best

Thank you, Glenn, for adding the following Event to our Website!

For those going, it would be great if you when you sign up if you would state that you will be meeting the group at Praktik Rambla Hotel or if you will try to find us at the Fountain itself. Obviously you can change your mind, but know we will leave the hotel promptly at 20:15 so we can get on our way to secure a great view!

Also, does anyone have a response to my question I have in the copied post below?

Thanks!!!

Near the street there is an area that sells food that has tables and chairs. Counter service type stuff and drinks. If you are facing the fountain, it is to the right. When we went in 07 this area had foot traffic, but was not real crowded. It faces the fountain and we had a great view from there. My mother was with with us and had mobility issues so we bought something to drink and a snack and sat at a table and watched the show.

Hello all....well after a couple of tough days....well weeks actually....I am happy to report my DD is feeling better....know how I know....she is getting fiesty and argumentative.....she had another cath scan today and we do not have the results yet....but she now wants to eat and they are allowing her soft pureed food.....sounds wonderful....but she is making positive strides and I thank all for the pixie dust and prayers.....my wife and I were starting to talk about maybe having to cancel the cruise the other day.....but tonight we had a nice talk about 4 weeks from tomorrow we will be flying out....and we already have put a backup plan in place....my MIL lives in Georgia and in an emergency would fly in to stay with DD.....again....THANKS!
Tom & Marilou

Good news to hear, continued thoughts and prayers:hug:

Update on Dennis' dental situation....needs 3 crowns replaced and a root canal on one of them.:sad2: So root canal tomorrow, temp crown on that one on Sept 2 after his cataract surgery on Aug 30. We did not have a dentist here in town and I gotta say we LOVE this guy. He is working thru his lunch tomorrow to do the root canal because he wants to get the pain gone before we travel. AND, he is going to show Dennis one of his guitars when we go in tomorrow. :lmao: Oh, and does not demand the massive amount of money up front. Which is a really good thing because we have an amazing vacation coming up :woohoo::dance3:and will need a couple of months to pay for the dental expenses. :thumbsup2

Hope is goes well:hug:

I can't believe that in 4 weeks from right now, we'll be over the Atlantic Ocean somewhere...where did the time go?

I went to the doctor today for my shoulder. He ordered some x-rays and nothing is broken that he can see. I have an MRI scheduled for next Friday to see if there was any internal damage. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they find nothing.

Good news, hoping the good news keeps coming:hug:

A small thing overall and slightly off topic...

My DD Lilian lost her first tooth today. She is very excited. :cheer2:
My baby is growing up.:goodvibes :sad1::yay:

Hello everyone
I cant beleive 4 weeks today we will be boarding the Magic.:cool1::banana: :cool1:
I got my cruise Docs on monday (booked through Dreams).
Also on Monday my daughter gave birth to my second grandchild, a tiny boy with lots of black hair. Who is absolutley gorgeous of course.

I am going off to stay with my daughter, for couple of weeks from tomorrow, but will have my little notebook and will try to look in when I can. Hopefully I wont miss anything.
When I get back, it will be time to start my packing and get stressed, doing everything in a last minute mad rush !!.

Have a good week everyone :)

Congrats on the new family member:hug:

Jon

Hi Michael,

Not a problem. Any special instructions to add? Transportation? Assume meeting place is HRC. Like Buckeye Gal, do you want to add alternate on-site rendezvous location at the fountain? If yes, do you know of one?

Also, do you want me to add the HRC event? It looks like I can import all but
BibbidyBobbidyBoo and adamspest. So you didn't have to do all the updates, we could make it website registration, then you'd only have to pull the guest count a few days early to make the reservation.

Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn, yes to all please!

Meeting place will be HRC; alternate is at the SE end of the walkway over Avenguda de Rius i Taulet (at the SE end of Avenguda de la Reina Maria Cristina) - this is the north side of the fountain. DW and I will be taking the Metro from HRC but we plan to spend a little time at Poblay Espanyol before the first fountain show if we have time.

Thanks!

Additionally, I suggest investing in a luggage scale. In the States, you can get them for $10 at Bed Bath & Beyond (and we know we always can find those 20% off coupons). I've heard Target has them, too. If you're fearful of your luggage being overweight for your flight home, it's well worth the piece of mind to manage the load before being at the airline counter. Also, at least the one I have has a tape measure built in, and that can indeed come in handy sometimes for the silliest of things.

Thanks for reminding me. I just ordered one from Amazon and it was less than 3 Pounds. I goes up to 32kg.

Speaking of breakfast, is Topsiders open for the buffet breakfast on the last morning or do we have to go to the dining room? I seem to think we found Topsiders was open at the end of the PC in 2008 but I wasn't sure if that was due to so many B2B cruisers onboard?

Yes, Topsiders will be open on the first morning and quite early, too.

Tiffany mentioned to me that you had purchased something from her! I told her about your wonderful offer to give us the jewelry workshops and mentioned that I just cannot wait to see your stunning blue dress!! She really is a very caring person and would probably be so embarrassed if she knew how we're doting over her talent

It is such a shame that she had to cancel this cruise. I would have loved to meet her in person.

That's a good price. Who is it with with being able to book direct through Heathrow to Manchester? Every time I look that connecting option isn't there.

I priced this including the connecting flight on the Virgin Atlantic website.

hi

well meant a taxi from the airport to my hotel the day before

from what i am reading about barcelona is not really very good it does not seem like a safe city for tourists and from what friends say to me its not very safe for people by themselves

i passed through there some years ago and it seemed fine compared to some places i have been through ... eastern europe was an experience :scared1::confused: loved it but well it was not relaxing

barcelona seems a bit like Naples, italy ..:sad2: i am part itailian from my dads side and we used to go there alot - did not enoy it as you had to be on your gaurd from scammers all the time... even the cafes scammed tourists... love the italian cities and ruins but would never go back again.

I have never seen the point in going to a place only to have to be on your gaurd all the time - thats not my idea of a holiday .. i go on holiday to get away from stress being a project manager is stressful.. i want fun and R&R

the site linked by someone else on the board about the magic fountain is really good

http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/

its got every hotel and ways to get to them either by taxi or public transport
jason

Barcelona is the only place I have ever been to that I did not feel safe. I grew up in a city with a fairly high crime rate (Frankfurt) and live in one now (Manchester), however, in both of them you are fine if you keep your smarts about you. Barcelona was different. Even staying alert at all times, I never felt safe. This is one of the reasons why we have opted to stay outside of Barcelona again. Molins de Rei is a lovely peaceful little place and even though quite close to Barcelona, it could not be any more different. Even for one night I want to have a safe haven to get back to.

We visited Naples on our Med cruise. I was not to keen on Naples, but at no point did I ever feel unsafe. It just felt chaotic, the traffic was horrendous and compared with the other ports we visited, Naples was a bit of a let down.

Please send all your spare pixie dust......
We were spending a beautiful day on the boat, lazing in the sun, boys having a few beers, girls giggling and gossiping, kids fishing until.......Belly caught Holly, yep, Holly ate the fish hook, swallowed it whole.
Lucky Mum was there with her car at the beach so we raced her straight to the 24hr Animal Hospital, Poor baby needs surgery to remove the hook which is in her stomach. So I had to leave my baby at the hospital and come home empty handed.
Waiting at home for the phone call now....waiting......waiting......waiting.....
She should be home tomorrow morning, $2000 later!

Pixie dust heading your way.
