Hi, I hope you are all doing well.

I got some pretty flowers from my co-workers today and wishes for a speedy recovery http://twitpic.com/2ip38w

I also got good news from my doctor they got the report from pathology and as suspected the cyst was not cancerous. It was the largest cyst that my Dr. and his partner who assisted with the surgery have ever seen and were very surprised I was not having more symptoms. They drained about 2 and a half gallons of fluid from it and it had lots of blood vessels to it and that is why they kept me overnight at the hospital.

I am doing alright. I have some abdominal pain. I thought I might have a uti so I am on am antibiotic for that and drinking lots of liquids.

Welcome Brenda and good luck with all of your medical procedures.

pixiedust: for a speedy recovery!! Glad to hear that your cyst was benign. Hope you have plenty of meds to cope with the pain and that all of your symptoms disappear quickly!!

Thanks to all the offers of having my missing shirts shipped to other cruisers' addresses and bringing them to the ship for me! I spoke with Zazzle this morning and they are resending the shirts and valbob89 will be bringing them to us in Barcelona!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Holy moley, 2 & 1/2 gallons of fluid! I can't even imagine that. So glad it was benign!! Here's to a rapid recovery :flower3: and hope you feel like yourself soon.

Just curious, am I the only one that takes my own pillow? :magnify:One year, on a different ship, the pillows were gross, even under the pillow case. I couldn't sleep on it and called housekeeping. They agreed the pillows were terrible and took them to bring back clean ones. They didn't return and we had to sleep without any pillows. Since then, I take my own.

I bring a pillow and a blanket, it is the perfect blanket I have had two so far and I am never cold and never hot all year long. it rolls up very small and is very light, I use it on the plane and on the ship. I received many an envious comment on deck 4, :cloud9:

Have you checked out Griffin? It's one of my fave accessory sites.

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elan-passport-ipad#

You get 3% cash back with ebates, and they do offer free shipping.

I can get Griffin for cost , but the one case I like, we have had four out of 6 returned to the store as the stitching was defective. Besides I would love a pink or dark purple case, lol. I love some of the kindle 2 cases on amazon, sigh.....

Perhaps this is a quirk, but we always take foaming anti-bacterial pump soap for the bathroom in our stateroom. I detest washing my hands with a bar of soap. There is just something icky about that to me. I will if I have to if that's my only option, but until Disney puts soap dispensers in the stateroom bathrooms, I pack pump soap!

I also pack anti-bacterial wipes, and the first thing I do when entering our room for the first time is wipe down the remote, all light switches, the menu book. Anything that isn't wiped down and disinfected regularly.

I am not a normal germophobe, but I'm healthy as a horse at home usually, and about a week into the cruise, I always manage to come down with something. I love Disney cruises, because there is always a kid to press the elevator buttons for me (another thing I won't touch on a cruise ship!). :scared1:

I love my bath and body work, foaming hand wash, Coconut lime verbena, :cloud9:, I might pack a half empty bottle. I never thought of the kid powered elevator service, just another magical perk, lol.

Just read this on AOL. Whoever suggested packing a set of underwear on long flights inorder to freshen up - here is another reason to carry a spare.
"Passengers on a British Airways flight got quite a scare when a pre-recorded announcement that the plane was about to make an emergency water landing was mistakenly triggered.
The Sun newspaper reports the false alarm happened on a flight from London to Hong Kong. The plane, with 275 passengers onboard, was flying over the North Sea at the time.
"This is an emergency announcement," said the automated female voice. "We may shortly need to make an emergency landing on water."Michelle Lord, 32, says passengers prepared for the worst until crew ran through the plane saying it was a mistake.
"People were terrified. We all thought we were going to die," Lord says.
The carrier apologized to passengers for the "undue distress."
A British Airways spokesman tells Reuters the incident is under investigation to determine if it was caused by human error or a computer glitch." val

I heard this as i was driving down the ramp into the parking garage this morning scared the parking attendant with my full out laugh, lol.

Don't worry. By tuesday, we'll have another pirate:.

Corinna

Looks very comfy, especially with the crocs.

Since you ask about updates. I mentioned this yesterday but don't know if I should PM someone. On the Pirates Sailin' th' Trans-Atlantic the Strawberry FE has only 8 cabins noted, all of them have a cabin number assigned. On the Sept18 2010 WB TransAltlantic (this thread) on page 1, the Strawberry FE group has 14 cabins in it and most of them show GTY still. So I am listed on this thread but as GTY not 6606 but not on the Pirates web at all in the FE area.

The list on the first page is correct, except take off QueenMum and Tinkrules. Poohbear926 said she is supposed to be in the strawberry group, also. She has two in her cabin.

Great news! What a difficult way to lose some weight--2.5 gallons of fluid!!

REGARDING THE MADEIRA
The day before yesterday someone asked me to add 4 people to the Madeira tour so I emailed Eusébia to see if I could add any more persons to the tour.

The answer is the tour is closed and no one else can be added to the tour. If anyone wants to take a tour of Madeira they need to contact Daniel Taxi directly.

Eusébia responses in her email is in red below:

Hello again Noel,

I’m so sorry, but we don’t seem to be able to upgrade the 8 passenger to a bigger one or add any more vans.

Daniel found a solution, though – he can accommodate the 4 new participants either in a 6 passenger or a 4 passenger taxi. If they choose the 4 passenger taxi, they’ll be charged 35 Euros per person, however if they manage to find another two cruisers interested in sharing the tour with them, we’ll provide the 6 passenger taxi for 30 Euros per person. This is for a tour the same as yours: cable car, toboggan plus west tour.

Maybe it’ll be better if they contact me directly for all the arrangements, so that you don’t have to worry about this as well.

All the best,

Eusébia

I'm now a DIS Veteran, thanks to all my DISfriends on this WBTA thread!! Too bad Adam, DS10, is in bed. He keeps asking me how close I am!

The strength of a refrigerator magnet (very similar to the types of magnets used for door decorations) is about 50 gauss (measured at the surface). If you measure 1 foot away, it drops to .001 gauss, at 7 feet (the air shipping requirement), it drops to virtually 0.

So, unless you are putting up your door decorations with a 1" X 1" X 3" neodymium-iron-boron magnet, you'll be fine!

:lmao::worship::lmao::worship: I can't wait to meet you! I love it!

This happened to us on a BA flight from London to NY about two years ago. Interesting!!

OK....3 weeks from right now we should almost be half way to Barcelona....we leave on the 5:40 P.M. out of JFK.....8 hours plus over....so DW and I were talking at dinner....when we get to Barcelona it will be 8 in the morning....but we will feel like it is 2 a.m.! Hopefully we can get 3 or 4 hours sleep on the plane but I for one just seem to nod off and on when we fly although this will be a longer plane ride than I have ever taken....than God I have the aisle seat so it will be easier to get to the bathroom.....cannot believe it is 3 weeks away....Only 17 more working days for me!
See you guys real soon!
Tom & Marilou

Sorry Iv'e been MIA most of the week. Things are getting hectic at work as, and that trend will continue until the week that we leave.

Not fully caught up, 10 plus pages to go...

How do you like your Kindle? I am borrowing one from a friend as a trial and I like it very much. Just debating which one to buy.

LOVE my kindle! Actually my mom got it after her accident, but she has lost too much to be able to use it. Can't control the fingers to push the page button.

May I ask which one you have? I am using the 1st generation Kindle but thinking of buying the Kindle DX.

I have the DX - love the size. I use it with a cover so it is similar to holding a book. Love that it is easy to read - even in the sun! last year I read at both the Mickey and Goofy pools.

I am so glad I have some book buddies. Between you and Corrina, if I finish, I am more than happy to share. I would LOVE to keep all the books I read, but unfortunately I don't. I figure they are better off with someone else who will get just as much enjoyment rather than on my shelf looking pretty. Do you have a fave of his. I always liked Honeymoon and Lifeguard, but the Women's Murder Club is my fave series!

Loved Lifeguard and Honeymoon!! Am enjoying the Womens Murder Club series now. I am not bringing actual books, but will have electronic...

My favourite James Patterson book is "When The Wind Blows", which is also the first I have ever read. My favourite series are the Alex Cross novels, but I can honestly say that I have yet to read one of his books that I did not enjoy. They make perfect vacation reading as the chapters are so short.

Corinna

James Patterson is one of my favs. The Alex Cross books are wonderful reads.

I don't know if you have heard of or read his "Maximum Ride" series, but the premises is rather similar. The book is all about winged children, who even have the same names as the ones in the "Maximum Ride" books. He claims that the Maximum Ride series is not based on "When The Wind Blows", but some of the back story of the Maximum Ride books is remarkably close to "When The Wind Blows". There is also a sequel called 'The Lake House", which is also a fantastic book.

Corinna

I enjoyed Maximum Ride, and also read the Lake House. Will need to look out for WTWB.
Attention Jewellery Making People

Can I just ask you again to let me know when your kits arrive. At the moment there seem to be 11 packages MIA, three of which were mailed on August 16th (2 to USA and one to Canada) and the remaining ones were mailed on August 17th (one to Australia, two to Canada and 5 to USA). The ones that have arrived in the USA all took 6 days and we are well over this by now. Looks like Royal Mail hired a slow donkey to transport out packages.

Corinna

Corinna - I just got mine today!!

I have never had a good manicure on the ship. They wind up bubbly and sloppy! Right now I have color on my nails, and I hate it. I like color on my toes, but this NY Apple Red or whatever it's called makes me feel a bit of the "lady of the evening." Thanks for the tip on getting a french. I usually keep my nails short and sheer. And I am definitely going to do that next time. I guess it's good that I got color this time so I can see how bad I wear them.

I have taken to getting a french - but with color tips. I think I am doing the same for the cruise - but may just go with a plain old American. The wear very well...

So disappointed....just realized that we never received our shirts from Zazzle (and I even did research to find Marc's Mickey Mouse Club number!). I had actually forgotten about them until I saw the posting about the night that they would be worn to dinner. They were shipped to my sister-in-law's PO box in San Diego but they weren't in the things we picked up when we were there this past weekend. (We did get the Pirate shirts, though! Thanks, Todd!)

Too late to have them reshipped down here to Mexico and have to pay duty on top of it, plus the additional cost for new shirts. Reminder to self - From here on out, PAY for the delivery that includes tracking!!!!

We'll be hanging our heads low the day y'all wear yours. :sad1:

Michael

Michael - just sent you a PM on this...

More in about 5 pages...

Noel, thanks for posting that, its really annoying the fax thing..

I wanted to share this with you guys, it was on the main board, I loved it..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHrSX0gHX_8

I have always loved this one. It's an oldie but goodie!!!! I love that it surfaces every so often since they obviously don't broadcast it on TV any longer! :thumbsup2

I like James Patterson also. I bought When The Wind Blows today due to everyone talking about it. I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I'm a little shy about posting. On another cruise board people can be mean, but everyone here seems really nice. See all of you soon.

Brenda

Welcome!!! Funny - I too just picked up a copy of WTWB today after reading the glowing reports from everyone here on the thread! :rotfl:

Glad to hear the good news!!! Now rest up and get better. You have a great vacation in three weeks!!

I hope you are pleased with your surprise purchase.

No unfortunately not. We have similar companies, but not Netflix.

I don't think I have ever read this, which is actually quite a surprise. As far as "The Pillars of the Earth" is concerned, I am on my third copy as I have literally read the first two to pieces.

Thanks, I had updated my list that yours were received a week or so ago. Now I just wish that the other kits hurry up and get to their destination. Every day when I log in, I am all excited thinking that some might have arrived, but there has not been any good news since the beginning of the week.

I am glad that you are doing OK.

Thanks for the offer. I think I am sorted. By the way, I wish you a belated Happy Birthday.

I was summoned for jury duty just before our Florida vacation in 2007. Fortunately I finished on time. I absolutely loved the experience.

Thanks for letting me know. I hope that they get there sooner rather than later.

Thanks for offering this to us. This is one less thing that I have to worry about.

Unfortunately not. We did the first Med cruise this year and loved it. I so wish I could do it again. However, I still have to work up to September 16th.

When we were in Tunis in April, I bought two beautiful Tunisian dresses. They are so soft and look stunning. I bought one at the hotel that we went to for the DCL beach break and one at the shop at the port. In the shop at the port they had also a royal blue dress that I really wish that I had bought and really I would love that and one other in any colour but brown or white. They were very cheap at EUR20 as well and come in one size fits all.

Here is a photo of me wearing the dress that I bought at the port:

img079.jpg

I have made a note of those. I am forever looking for good books to read.

Thanks for offering. I will PM you shortly.

We don't have this problem at my gym. It is right next to the Gay Village and the hunky gay guys are not in the least but interested in what the women at the gym look like. There are a few other women about, but most of them are a bit of the curvy/ vertically challenged side as well. The gym has just got a wonderful atmosphere. We are going to their other branch in town on Sunday as this is where we will have our spa treatments and it will be interesting to see how they compare.

I am glad that you got everything sorted.

I did ring Cargo today asking what their take on magnets is. The answer that I was given is that a small amount of fridge or promotional magnets is no problem, but probably best in the carry on as they can be picked up when the cases are screened and might be removed. Any large number (I used 100 magnets as example as I will have that many on the way to Barcelona, but only 20 or so will come back) need to be sent as airfreight and need to have proper documentation. If you have more than 10, I got the impression that the safest option is to split them and put a few in each carry on. So looks like most of us will be fine and I will use a road based service to ship my magnets to Barcelona.

Corinna

I am bringing small magnets as my FE gifts. Now I'm worried that I might not be able to bring them on the plane. Should I put some in each of our checked bags and some in each of our carry-on bags?

Ohmygosh!!! Or as hannah would say "Sweet Nibblets!" I did it - 20 pages tonight!!!!

I never get my nails done on the ship i do them myself. If you got the tips youll want to get them redone right before the cruise with the refill. your suppose to get them refilled about every 2 weeks or so and they start to look it too just a tip since i usually get tips on which ive been thinking of possibly getting them done too but closer to the cruise. the longest ive gone without getting them refilled is 4 weeks

Thanks for the reminder! Need to make my appointment for a new set, a mani and a pedi...

So glad to see Erik again on the boards!!!

If there were any to back out of FE, let me know, and we'll kick in. : )

KRISANNB - didn't we lose 2 people from the strawberry group??? Please let me know on loosing someone - and if you are adding someone, so I can get the 1st page updated

Great ideas!! Something else to pack!!

OK everyone I think the "Final" Version of the Navigator is ready. I can still update things like errors or people's room numbers but the main bulk of the writing should be accurate. Obviously we still don't have tasting dates but I think the rest is ready and Penny has done her magic to create the printable versions. She is working on the Digital version for those wanting that but below are the versions. One of them is if you have a printer that can do Duplux prints and two are for those people with single sided printing where you need to reload the paper once you do one side.

Duplux Dis Version

Non Duplux Odd Pages

Non Duplux Even Pages

Oh and again if people can't access them please pm me your email addy and Ill send you a copy

Sarah - FABULOUS!!

Well happy belated birthday to you, too, then!!

I called this morning about jury duty and they moved it to the first week of December...so that is one stressor gone. Jason also called and changed our flight down to Orlando next Thursday. We were booked on a flight that left around 5:30 that got switched to a 7:40 flight----but the more we thought about it the more we didn't want to take that flight (even though we originally agreed to it) because it wasn't direct and it wouldn't have us landing in Orlando until almost midnight which meant after picking up luggage and the car we wouldn't get to the resort until very late...adn we want to be at the Universal Parks early the next morning to try to get on all the Harry Potter rides (we have the insane idea of trying to do both Universal Parks and both Sea World Parks in just 2.5 days if we can----and we've pre-paid for the express passes at all the parks and everything). So he called and they agreed to switch us onto a direct flight leaving at 5pm so we'll get in at a better time, be able to check in, get a good night's sleep and be up for a Universal marathon on Friday the 3rd! :)

Well done for getting jury duty moved!
Happy belated Birthday! Mine is Monday, seems like there are many August birthdays on this cruise!

I like James Patterson also. I bought When The Wind Blows today due to everyone talking about it. I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I'm a little shy about posting. On another cruise board people can be mean, but everyone here seems really nice. See all of you soon.

Brenda

Brenda, jump on in! This is a very open, silly, funny group!!

I just want to introduce myself. My name is Brenda, and I'm traveling with my husband Brian. We are from Wisconsin. We did the EBTA in 2007, and it was a lot of fun. This time we are looking forward to gaining hours instead of losing them due to the time changes. We love cruising.

I have some medical treatments before this cruise, and my dog is also having surgery on her mouth. Hopefully everything goes well. We are really looking forward to this vacation.

Brenda

I am Sue, traveling with DH, Glenn our 13 year old DS, Stephen and our 6 year old DD, Becca. Glenn and I are from Ohio and Illinois originally, but are hailing from NW of Atlanta these days.

Good luck with the treatments, and your fur baby!

So I am listed on this thread but as GTY not 6606 but not on the Pirates web at all in the FE area.

page 1 of this thread is currently more up to date than the website in relation to the Strawberry FE group, and the candy swap. Not everyone had registered on teh website, so I couldn't simply make changes. Then, with the addition of the excursions to the site last weekend we didn't want to take the DB off like to make the 20 or so changes.

Glenn and I have been beyond busy this past week. In addition normal work for both of us, Glenn is trying to spin down what he has on his plate; while I am effectively starting to work at my new job while still working at the old one. (Good thing it is all within the same company!) Unfortunately I will not be able to start handing off any of the new job until the day we leave and then, because the new position is part of a major departmental org change, it will be a heres my stuff, don't try and call... Top work off with The kiddos... Gymnastics Monday night, cheer on Tues and Thurs, wrestling is about to start for Stephen and then there is the leadership group at the YMCA fo rhim on Monday nights as well...

Needless to say, we are both really looking forward to this trip!! So, please bear with us as we catch up a bit this weekend!

PS - the website will be off lline at some point - if you get that message, please do not add or change data as the changes will be lost. I will post notice here when we start and finish as well...

Becky - so glad that you are recovering well! That is a lot of fluid... Take care, rest up and we will see you in 3 weeks!!

I apologize in advance if this might have been posted before:

I know about the usual things to pack but some people bring not so common items that are useful and great like the over the door shoe organizers; highlighters to mark the Navigator; sticky note pads to leave notes for the cabin steward. What are other useful items that you bring?

Just curious, am I the only one that takes my own pillow? :magnify:One year, on a different ship, the pillows were gross, even under the pillow case. I couldn't sleep on it and called housekeeping. They agreed the pillows were terrible and took them to bring back clean ones. They didn't return and we had to sleep without any pillows. Since then, I take my own.

I bring a rubber door stop, (Hate when that heavy door hits me in the rear while chatting in the hall...) I bring my pillow, down comforter, and sheets....yes it may seem a bit crazy, but I SLEEP sooooo much better. And just in case you hadnt heard, "If Momma aint happy, aint NOBODY happy!" :thumbsup2 I do use a space bag ... One of those cardboard car airfreshners to hang in the rest rooms..;) Yankee Candle makes some really nice ones. Power surge extension cord. (If you have lots of electronics this is important) night light and small ipod speakers. mesh hamper...

I made the thank you business cards yesterday!! I made 10 that have Captain Mickey on them and say Thank you for making our journey magical, for CMs on the cruise and I made 30 that have Mickey holding out a flower that say Thank you for the magical moment. Those we can use at WDW as well as on the ship. I love making CMs smile :goodvibes
GREAT idea!:thumbsup2

:worship::worship:Thank YOU a million times for all your hard work!:worship:
