Disney Magic please take me away!!!! So, I was in the ER most of the night last night with my DD 4 yr old. She has croup and couldn't breathe! It was so scary!! They put her on breathing treatments and gave her steroids. Then we went to the pediatrician today and gave her more. They said she should be fine by next week. I'm just praying that our DS 1 yr old won't get this! They said it will be much more serious if he does. My DH flew out this morning. I'm so glad it was before he left for a few days. Well, I'm literally just dreaming of the Magic!!!

Thats horrible, glad she is better now.

Poor little thing and poor you. Croup is indeed nasty and scary.

Having taken a look at the new dining plan, for my own tastes I prefer the look of rotation 3 best and rotation 2 least.

My reasoning for this is I much prefer to be in Lumieres for Formal Night (Parrot Cay doesn't quite do it for me on Formal Night).

I am surprised that DCL didn't think, we have 2 Formal Nights and 1 Semi Formal Night, so we spread that around evenly between Rotations and Restaurants.

Just my thoughts.

Any way more importantly it is only 9 days to go!!

We did have the same issue on the Med cruise in that we had both Formal Night and Semi-Formal Night in Animator's Palate. Our servers then got confused the night before the Captain's Gala Dinner and told us that the next night would be semi-formal night. According to the navigator it was cruise casual, but everybody on our table turned out in semi-formal clothes and that night we were in Lumiere's.

Have been trying to catch you on Skype, Terry's grandmother died on Sunday, It's OK, we have been expecting it for a while, So have been so busy and have in-laws staying until next Sunday after funeral.

I am sorry for your loss.

Brilliant well done you!:woohoo:

I've lost 24 lbs in the last 8 weeks but would really like to lose another 4 lb by next Friday!:rolleyes1

Oh I have plenty of cushioning Kaz!!!:rolleyes1 You can have some of mine!:thumbsup2:rotfl:

woohoo!!!:dance3: Look forward to seeing it!

:thumbsup2

Who rattled your cage sweetie?:laughing::lovestruc

:littleangel:

That is an amazing achievement. Well done.

YEAH Angie - I agree!!!! This is terrible to say, but I never go because of the restaurant atmosphere! My least fave is Animator's Palate and my fave is Parrot Cay, which puts me in the minority I am sure.

I absolutely detest Animator's Palate, but love Parrot Cay.

We just want to be with our DIS friends. I don't care what dining room we are at.

I ordered a global phone too, but that's because I'll be in London on Friday. :scared1: I leave tomorrow night!!!! Excited, scared, overwhelmed......

I have the droid2. I should work on the Magic at at least 2.49 a minute. test .50 send .05 receive. but, I got the global phone from verizon for this trip anyway. Oh and they didn't ship it to me yet, I called and they are overnighting it to me tomorrow. I leave tomorrow.

Thanks Sarah!

So who lives in London that I can hunt down and grab a copy of the Navigator on Tuesday?:rotfl2:

Have a safe journey.

Listening to the news and heard big aftershock in New Zealand - hope Paula and family are okay.

Also, cruise ship news - what cruise ships are doing to look out for big waves because there have been some problems. The video they showed was all the furniture went from one side of the ship to the other. Then, the big question they raised after that, "Are cruise ships really safe?" Ahh! I was like - are you kidding me? Anybody else see it??

I have been twice on the Magic in freak weather (September 2008 and May 2010) and I have felt as safe as houses. The only scary thing was when plates, glasses and cuttlery started to fly. Once I was out of the restaurant, I felt perfectly safe again.

Oh Gosh - dealing with DCL on the phone is almost as painful as calling for tech support with my computer company. When we received our docs from DCL there was a page that indicated they still needed the flight info for my DH. On-line it indicated that all check-in info was complete for both of us. I called DCL and they said disregard as everything was complete. My TA called me this morning to confirm she had made final payment on our PCanal cruise. She said while she had Disney on the line she confirmed our 9-18 booking was ok. They told her we still needed to complete our immigration forms? She could not get on their site so she asked them what they were talking about as she had checked a couple of days ago and it said all our check-in forms were completed. DCL told her we needed to go on-line and complete the forms but weren't any more help. She told me she would continue to look into it. I told her I would too. I finally got my reservation to come up and it looked completed so I called DCL. After the "press 121 if you need to be transferred to the suicide prevention center recording merry-go-round" I got a women in the Documents Area who looked at my reservation and said she had to transferred me to reservations - she disconnected me. Called back and got someone who said I hadn't printed out the contract and payment authorization form and I needed to do that before they could note I had completed everything. I asked why I should print the forms when they had sent them to me with my documentation book with pages that can be riped out and signed. She sighed and said "we need you to print them out so you can read them" I told her they are in the docs DCL sent so why would I print out 10 pages of the same stuff they have printed and what if I didn't have a printer. She responded, that is why we send them. At that point I gave up. It shouldn't be this hard.
I did ask her to confirm the dining rotation, just to see if I would get a different answer. She said there has been a change this week, and quickly said "you know - it is subject to change." Formal nights 2 & 8, semi-formal 13, pirates night 11, villians night 6. The CD Brent. At the end of the call I got a call back, not the usual survey - a recording asking me to rate the call and if I wanted a supervisor to call me regarding the service I received. I pushed no - maybe I should have talked with her just for more pain. val

I am sorry that you had such a bad experience with DCL customer service. It is good news though that Brent will be our cruise director.

:headache: I was looking at my reservation to see if I could change my Palos reservation since it now falls on MMC Night......and I dont have a Palos reservation!!!! It was somehow cancelled. Luckily I was booked at a table for 4 with Laura and Steve and they can see that on her reservation so now they are trying to get me back on it......:headache: ..... now on hold listening to Aladdin music :)

On a happier note, I just went and got all my Euros and Pounds! :goodvibes

What a pain that your Palo reservation got messed up. I hope that they can sort this out for you.

Well I thought a few people had shipped things. I suppose we are talking to a whole host of different DCL agents so perhaps difficult for them to know everything. they just like to make you think they do.

I have to say I was actually surprised that they allowed people from outside the EU to ship stuff to the ship because of the customs implication. Then again, I think what the majority of people would ship is probably fairly low value. My parcel was delivered and signed for at the handling company so they better make sure it gets to the ship.

For all of us who got the ESTA letter from DCL:

I had gone to print off the confirmation page a few days ago and thought the information on it a bit useless: authorization code and date of expiry only.

When I went to the ESTA website today to print off my children's confirmations, they have updated the page to include the passport number and country of issue. No name and date of birth but at least something to better identify each form!

So it may be worthwhile going back to the ESTA site to print them off again.

Still think there will be long queues at check in: will the US and non-US passport holders be separated at check in?

Thanks for this. I have just gone back and done this. This is so much better. The name is actually not that important as the passport number together with the nationality is enough to positively identify a person. I feel a lot happier now.

Yes, US and non-US passport holders will be separated at check in and also at arrival in Port Canaveral

I saw the new dining rotation info and we don’t really care what restaurant we are in, on what night. I will go with whatever the linked early dining rotation ends up being. We are looking forward to having dinner with other DISers. ;)

We took care of AT&T international texting plan (Kathy’s phone) :) and I have details on free Wi-Fi for my Iphone in Barcelona. :goodvibes

We are only checking one suitcase each (50 lbs) on US Air and will have two carryon’s each. Creative packing! :woohoo:

I got a new CPAP mask for the trip. :woohoo:

Our Barcelona tour plans are finalized, but we are not sure what we will do on what day (We know what we want to see). :dance3:

Excursions booked. The only port we are going on our own is Gibraltar. We will walk to cable car and tour the Rock on our own.

I have been running, in preparation for the Castaway Cay 5K. I will be running on the ship also. See you on deck 4.
:cheer2:
Diet plan for me is dessert every other meal. Yes, I know this will be met with some resistance form our servers, as I had that problem before. But I am determined to stick to the plan. Also, with the extra hour each day, I will be off to the treadmill. I am still holding at 199 lbs. :rolleyes1 Down 22 lbs this year. I take pills for type 2 diabetes and I’m trying not to become insulin dependant.

Congratulations to all the others on their diet successes. :cheer2: I know how hard it is to watch what you eat.

I can’t believe we have just 5 days until we leave. So much done, but still so much to do. We can’t wait to meet everyone at the Hard Rock Café :grouphug: and then on the Disney Magic.

Also, we can’t wait to be on the ship and at dinner for the first night.

:thanks: to everyone who has done so much to organized the DIS stuff. Your hard work is appreciated. ::yes::

:disrocks:

For those of us who have requested to link late dining ... just to let you know that I have contacted my travel agent again to tell her about the changes and asked if she can move us to rotation 3. I am sure it is a real pain for her ... but what else can I do :confused3:confused3

I have asked this because a few of our diners wanted Lumieres for formal. Hope this is OK with you all. :goodvibes

Thank you :thumbsup2
Will be quite upset if not in Lumieres or Animators for formals
I like Parrot cay, dont get me wrong..but its not suited to my outfits for forrmal night!
i was happy with original plan...Disney are playing some games with us :confused3:rolleyes1

Soon be TIME!

The countdown is almost upon us
We have Jon and Candida arriving here on Friday evening...so our holiday starts then!

Have fun with all the preparations
Lyn

Brent was going to be off for a while and then come back for a while. The question was when he was coming back. Maybe we have our answer.
Is this on the navigator?

I guess I missed something.... Is Brent the CD or not?

Yes, but then I have to measure, fold, iron straight, and then hope he doesn't pull the hem tape off accidentally. Ironing a straight fold is a skill that I don't possess. Just have to get there tomorrow. No time today. Well, we'll be picking up DH's suit and DS's pants on the day before we leave. No stress, right? Aarrgghh... I think I need a brownie. Adam (DS10) made some today.

I am sewing and hemming challenged but I do often carry hem tape as a "just in case" scenario. Brownies do sure sound good!!

 I've got 9 days (I think he's back on the evening of Friday 17th) in which to use (abuse :rolleyes1 ) his space .. Perfect timing!!! :thumbsup2

:lmao::lmao:

Ok, I know you can all beat me with a stick when you see me, but I just have to say this::rotfl2:

I have worked in the hospitality industry before and EVERYTHING you do is subject to change. There is no cruise ship, hotel or even a football event that caters to a group like ours. We work around them, they (DCL) don't work around us. I just want to say that and no, I do not work for DCL, but to give them the benefit of the doubt, it may seem that they are trying to ruffle our feathers or mess with us, but trust me, in the long run, they are probably doing something that makes the trip better that we are not even aware of.

Okay, back to the regular disboards and I hope no one hates me!!

How could we possibly hate you Sandi?! I understand everything you say ........ the voice of reason :thumbsup2:worship:

Sounds like you've been very busy! See you soon!:cool1::cool1:

:littleangel:

We shall have to get together onboard and swap stories I think.....:rolleyes1:hug:

For sure!

And you used it very expertly!!! :rotfl2: Yes, sadly I am. :sad2: I was on the phone with my DD when I spotted it - musta popped her eardrums with my scream, poor love...

I can only imagine :scared1:.

Thanks once again for all you're doing to help us Sue :goodvibes

As for Sue, :worship: And that goes for so many of our fellow cruisers...

You'll be keeping warm with all the laughter (not to mention cocktails)

Works for me :thumbsup2.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: At least we could have jogged around the ports and not eaten anything(because who pays for food off the ship:scared1:) and then our mentionables wouldn't have been tight!!:rotfl: Now we will have to lounge about and eat all day!!!

Hey, I'm a superstar at doing that!

Noooooo, spiders here are good!!! I put them outside.

I always do the same thing.

In Australia a phobia of spiders can be a healthy thing to have as many of them are deadly. however i am fine with spiders, but snakes or leaches - bad, very bad.

I can deal w/spiders and snakes, but leaches give me the creeping crawlies. Ewwwwwww.

We get they big huge ones, I like them, mostly cause I HATE flies,

I am with you there. I can tolerate most living creatures, but not if it wants to suck my blood (ticks, fleas, mosquitos), live on my body (ticks), or contaminate my house (flies). Flies really gross me out.

As of now we have ALL PRIVATE DIS tastings. I just have a couple of conflicts that we are trying to resolve. We only had to split one group - Martini as there were 70 of us. So, we are doing well! I will post all that I know tonight.

That sounds great!

Ok guys I need a boost......

I've been really good for 8 weeks and lost 24 lbs now.....but really really wanted to lose another 4 lb by next Friday....and I'm a little bit bummed :guilty: All the gym work and swimming and on ly a pund since last Monday.......

Mandy, you just need to be really proud of yourself. You've done a great job accomplishing something that's VERY hard to do, at least for most of us. :flower3:

24 lbs is a lot, and you should be very proud of yourself. Rejoice in your accomplishment and let go of this small disappointment. If you concentrate on the goal you didn't reach, you are cheating yourself out of the joy your hard work and huge accomplishment should be giving you. I for one am very proud of you, and we haven't yet met! You should be your own best friend and be proud of yourself! GOOD JOB!!!!!

When I work out strenuously (sometimes 2 hours), I have to eat a little more, or I stop losing weight. Just an idea. Increase protein and add a dairy (calcium helps with weight control). Hope that helps. : )

You said it!!!

I'm really curious - just how many of us on this cruise are using Tracy W as your TA? I know Mrs Mork and I are, but who else is booked through her? She said there were quite a few of her clients onboard.

We are, too.

Off to get my annual ladies squish test!! I am sure I will be back to more pages that I can read in one sitting!!

Glad that went well, Noel.

No, there's always another side to everything and you are right to point it out. I think we just get wrapped up in wanting a perfect, magical trip.

P&PD that your little girl is OK. That is so scary!

Poor DCL customer service. Seems most of us are not having a fun time with them. When I found out that air travel provided with Disney did not include them making sure the airline knew there were accessibility issues I lost it. Well I was still nice but not happy.

After talking to the right air travel person who said the same thing I would just have to wait. Then I got a message on my machine that they had moved me up in the sp category and I could have my flight info now. Did not change much as we who all booked DCL air found that he planes were full.

So at least they tried. Still will not fly DCL air again. Though they do guarantee to get us to the ship if we have air travel issues. Forgot to ask if the guarantee my scooter also.
:lmao:

And lets not forget a year ago the fiasco of them giving away our 11 accessible room. Now that was a very stressful 2 weeks.

The supervisor once he figured out what had happened was awesome :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 He assured me that he was working on it. And trying to figure it all out. Then after a week or so ( though it seemed like months said we definately had a guaranteed accessible room.

I said ok and got off the phone and went DUH!!! That is how we got into this mess in the first place we had nothing in writing. So I call him back and ask for it is writing.

I got a lovely letter. So I do know they do try. But I think in reality they really need to work on training a little more. The pixie dust meter is just not rising as high ?)

That said I will take DCL over WDW customer service any day!!!!!!

You really have had a tough go of it!! I can imagine you feel like you should take over DCL customer service at this point. Hope all gets sorted out before your flight!

Perhaps with as active a thread as this one is, maybe DCL is paying attention to the comments. One can always hope!!

I would never hate you Sandi.:love: We are a boatload of type A personalities. It would be impossible to please us all. Impossible. :goodvibes

sounds like fun!

Thank you for doing this

I am glad that the first formal night is not on a port day - however they could of spaced the rest out a bit better. Still any Magic restaurant is on the Magic... what more can you ask for. Ain't that the truth!!I have one small corner of a room that is starting to pile up, but my mother is about to arrive and take over our guest room and both the kids and DH seem to think they should be allowed to have beds to sleep in. :lmao: I can see some last minute packing (or should i say panicing) going on.

I have a feeling everything is going to work out fine. I am coughing up a lung right now, but I will get this out of my system, so I will have a marvelous cruise next week. No worries.

I absolutely am happy that formal night is on a sea day and pirate night is back when we really are in the Caribbean. And Terry gets her fireworks. pixiedust:

Wherever I eat, I'm hoping it will be with friends.

I have one more load of laundry to do so I can finish packing.:laundy:

I need to go on USAIR's website and see how much it will cost for an extra case.

I've been thinking about our B2B friends all day! Laura totally cracked me up sharing her encounter with the Naked Barcelona Man along with the comments that were made! They should be a good 2 hours into their sailing now. We're next!!!:banana:

A week from this very moment I will be experiencing my second DIS meets for this cruise! There are 16 other people I'll be meeting for our flight across the pond!!! :dance3:

....Ivanna has a twin?! You could name her Anita Cruz (I need a cruise)! LOL!!!!

 Brilliant idea! I'm trying my best to get Anita created!

I have recieved a message back from my TA.....She has given her time well beyond the call of duty over this as I am sure it must be a right pain in the rear having things change at the last minute :mad::mad:

Indeed she has! Thank YOU and thank Tracy for us all!!!

In an effort to reduce the "jet lag" effect on Jonathan he and I have been adjusting our clocks....It's 11:30 in Barcelona right now, we got up at 10:30 am. Sounds like we slept in, sure doesnt feel like it! My son is a cartoon watching zombie and I have every light in the house on....:surfweb: COFFEE!!!!!!:rotfl:

I'm proud that you're sticking to the plan though! I didn't do well last night/this morning. I got to bed 75 minutes past the planned time, then couldn't fall asleep for a good 1.5 hours. I set the alarm for 5:30 am, but after hitting the snooze for 4 times, I just turned it off. Unfortunately I didn't wake up until 8:30. :upsidedow

Ok, its a deal, as long as you mind me not to orginize room tours:rotfl2: and when we are at it, we can tell Sue, ... no dis tastings:rotfl:

:woohoo::woohoo:

....Not so bad to volunteer, I didn't do too much work on the tours NOT!!....

Uh huh....not hardly!

.....he said 'I can understand that, it isn't quite right for formal night is it?' There you go. He has eventually picked up some ship knowledge from all the cruises.:lmao::lmao:

I haven't heard anything recently about the Spanish air traffic controllers strike so unless they nastily spring a surprise strike we should be ok!!:thumbsup2

That's hilarious! Great knowing that he DOES pay attention, isn't it?!!

Indeed fingers stayed crossed for no strikes, acts of mother nature, or otherwise that will be a PITA!

Ok guys I need a boost......

I've been really good for 8 weeks and lost 24 lbs now.....but really really wanted to lose another 4 lb by next Friday....

Celebrate!!!! Be proud of yourself, girl! :yay: Look at how well you've done and all that you've achieved! It's okay!

....Many years ago, I once apologized to a concierge for taking up so much of their time. She told me that it really helps justify their position when people utilize them and use their recommendations.....Just a request for those passengers traveling in the concierge on DCL, use those folks as much as you can.....In an era of cost cutting and downsizing, DCL is not immune to cutting services and personnel if they are not being unitized......

Wow. That's a really good message. I always feel bad when I need to assist help from anyone for anything....even if you're paying them for it. I hate having someone think I'm needy and a nuisance. This puts a different perspective on utilization.

Me!!! My youngest son went back to school today and within minutes of the car leaving the drive, I had stripped his bed, dumped two cases in there and piled my cruise clothes on the mattress!!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

You are so funny! I had quite a visual in my mind when I read this!

:headache: I was looking at my reservation to see if I could change my Palos reservation since it now falls on MMC Night......and I dont have a Palos reservation!!!! ....

Now that would have totally stunk if you didn't know this until it was too late to even get a table!

Disney Magic please take me away!!!! So, I was in the ER most of the night last night with my DD 4 yr old. She has croup and couldn't breathe! It was so scary!! ....

Oh my! I hope she'll be feeling better tomorrow and equally I hope that it doesn't spread!

I have finished my summer volunteer job yesterday and now I can concentrate on the cruise. :cool1:....I am still holding at 199 lbs. :rolleyes1 Down 22 lbs this year.....

Finishing up the summer job a great milestone to reach! It's great to hear that you're "holding onto" that weight loss!

Your statement and the DCL customer service one is why I am using a luggage forwarding company who has much experience in delivering to hotels. I could have had it guaranteed to be delivered to the ship for a mere $200 more, NOT!!

:lmao: I just looked at Laura's pictures of the Naked Barcelona Man or shall I say MEN!!!! All I can say is Oh Dear Lord:scared1: I dont want to see all that :rotfl:

P.S. .... Got Palos straightened out.....:)
