I love it!!!! Can't wait to see your shirts!!! :thumbsup2

I'm trying not to pack too much stuff but I suffer from "Just in Case" disease. This means I usually pack everything I own so I have it on hand "just in case" it's needed.
Oh man, I need help!!! :lmao::lmao:

That's the same Disease I have !:lmao:
I think it's because my:lmao: parents gave me the middle name of
"Over packed":rotfl2::rotfl2:

Annie:rolleyes1

Hey Jackie I'm at AKL for a post trip stay, and i think Paula is too. But i could be wrong about that as i'm working from memory :rotfl:

SW

We should definitely talk about getting together. Like I said before, we're game to pick stuff up. The car we're renting is a compact so if we don't buy too much others are welcome to go...

We'll just keep the "Magic" alive at Kidani. It doesn't have to end Oct. 2nd!

Jackie

I have the two rolling duffles packed

One is 49.8 pounds
one is 48.2 pounds

I have all the wristbands separated and sorted by deck/cabin number or by "no cabin number for those I did not have on my spread sheet. They are all packed away in the suitcases!
Krisann

Is that weight before or after you attached your luggage lock? I bought some luggage locks recently, and was surprised at how heavy they are once I received them. I was thinking that I need to make sure the lock is on the bag before I do final measurements!

I forget, did you end up mailing our wristbands?

Great job with the packing! And I love the 49.8! Excellent work! :thumbsup2

yeah well it was 50 exactly - did not want it to be that close so I took one thing out :)

we do not put locks on our luggage - nothing valuable inside really so have never done that

yes all the wristbands have been mailed - several have gotten them Saturday - since today was holiday hopefully everyone else will get them tuesday - I have extras if they do not get there before you leave but they should.

Anyone linked with the group for early dining see the error message again that says we're linked with more than 5 cabins and can only see 1 at a time? I really dislike that message. I'm a compulsive optomist, and I regularly check still to see if I can book a Palo brunch for my whole family (ILs included) and now I can't see their reservation at all. I don't know why we're having such a hard time of getting the dining linked for dining purposes only. Time to have my TA unlink me again!

Just a reminder to everyone that we have just 10 days left to add or change any excursions, spa treatments, etc. since they cut them off 3 days before the cruise.

Right now the DCL website says:

DisneyCruiseLine.com is currently undergoing maintenance.

So, maybe they caught on about their mistake with the Dream WBTA.

I saw that error message earlier too. But I just checked the website again, and still see the Dream TA on the website. Just select the Dream from the list of ships, and you'll see two destinations appear - Bahamas (as expected) and Transatlantic. You get an error message when you try to price out a cruise, but I have to imagine there is some booking code out there that you can use to book under (if you know the super secret booking code!)

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I can't believe after almost 2 years we have finally reached this point !!!

I have my last 12 hour shift in work today .... then it's cruise, cruise , cruise all the way !!!!!

Just a quick hello. This weekend was spent camping with my family. We have a family reunion every 2 years over the Labor Day weekend. We've been doing this for 24 years now and it is the highlight of my summer. We topped out at 108 people this time.

Had a nice chat with a young man from Madrid. He is a foreign exchange student that is staying with my cousin. He loved talking about 'home' but then began getting very homesick. He wanted me to take him with me. LOL.

I've been so stressed out over the cruise and the reunion. I would begin packing for one, then think of something for the other, get distracted, then never get back on track. I forgot so much stuff for the weekend. Luckily there is a Rite Aid, Safeway and Dollar Tree right outside the park entrance. I made 4 or 5 trips to the store. I swore I was going to walk in and be greeted by name. But the good news is that now my focus can be on the cruise.

I'm feeling better, thankfully! I had chicken noodle soup and it tasted wonderful! I'm going to take it easy today though...

I was going to sound like a broken record and again say - I think it might be your new meds, but as I read on I see you have made the connection. Sometime it can be something as small as the coating on the tablet/capsule that upsets your tummy. I hope you get some relief soon. :goodvibes

What are your plans of what to wear around town?

No laughing....I was planning on wearing my skinny jeans to HRC on the Friday night (that will be our only outing in Barcelona), but I am already in my cruise eating zone and fear I will no longer fit my skinny jeans, I will have to pack my not-so-skinny jeans (ie : Fat jeans)!!!! :rotfl:

Thanks to Sarah pointing out that there is a Crocs sale on, I managed to get two pairs of flip flops today, which will be perfect for wearing around the pool and in the Rainforest Room.

Love your Crocs Corinna!

Oh dear, perhaps I need to do some more shopping.:rolleyes1 I was going to wear cropped trousers. I don't really think I would ever pass for anything other than a tourist to be honest though.

I'm not going to try to be something I'm not, I will wear what I am comfy in, as long as it's respectful of course. I thing my Aussie accent will give it away that I am not Spanish! :thumbsup2

So what are we going to talk, ladies???

Spanx, undies, knickers, panties, eye patches and Johnny Depp! :rotfl:

My Dad was a military/commercial pilot until 6 years ago, just retired as an airline VP a few weeks, actually. He would ditto the wearing clothes, cotton clothes, on planes thing, and he NEVER takes his shoes off, for safety reasons. I freeze on planes, so I wear all my bulky items and layers on the plane. It saves space in my carry on, too. I LOOOOOVE flying.

What is his view on underwire bra's, yep, back to the underwear, but seriously I have heard you shouldn't wear underwire, Is that true? :confused3

And if they try to pick-pocket you while you're naked, you might actually like it. ; )
:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Okay world travelers, I need a little help. Let me start by saying this is my first time overseas...

Okay, I get off the plane, potty up being careful not to hang anything on the door and putting my carry on between my legs. :) Also I have my travel toliet paper with me, just in case.

I leave the potty, go to the ATM, placing my carry on between my legs maybe even putting the strap around my leg. Terry will stand behind me facing out. I will put the euros in a pouch stashed in the Bank of ****ie which is attached to my bra strap. :)

I get a cart and go to the baggage area, keeping vigil over my carry on. Since now I know there are no porters, I will refuse help from anybody who dares touch my luggage. We will go upstairs and pray that the person who is hustling us into taxis are real taxis. I will show him the sign for Pratik Ramblas and hope that I get there. I will pay him before I exit the cab so I can clutch my carry on, and then try to roll all three cases into the hotel, as the bellman might be a thief in bellman's clothing.:headache:

I get into the hotel and the room is not ready because in Barcelona they don't do early check in... So my question is, what do I do with my luggage and my pacsafe with my passport and credit cards? Should I ask to put it in the hotel safe? Can I trust the bellhops inside? Will I ever see my luggage again?:upsidedow :upsidedow:upsidedow

Oh, I love you already Steffy, you are gorgeous! May I suggest you do your potty stop on the plane just before landing, then you can avoid the whole first paragraph? :goodvibes

As for DH...man, oh, man. Yeah. Well...let's just say the time alone will be good.

I think I got the message. Well you will be among friends and some time away from it all will most certainly do you good. If I jumped to the right conclusion, then I went through the same thing in November last year and it is most certainly not nice.

I don't have any tools either, Corinna...

Thanks for letting me know. I have updated my spreadsheet

I haven't been to DLP in years but I remember loving the theming. I'm going back for the first time in late November - really looking forward to it...

Late November is a great time to visit. The crowds are not too bad on weekends and virtually non-existent during the week and all the Christmas decorations will be up. Most of the Christmas entertainment will be shown as well. I have been at Disneyland Paris 5 times, twice in November and twice over Christmas. It was always truly magical. Still, it was great to see Disneyland Paris in Spring as well.

So what are we going to talk, ladies???

If this thread is anything to go by, then probably bags, shoes, underwear and future cruises.

Just popping in to say hi.

We made it Emiel and Yvette's without any problems. The flight was smooth, the food not so much.

After a day of taking it easy to get onto the new schedule they took us for a 3 hour tour. They surprised us with a trip to little town in Germany where Dreams are made, well the Disney Dream that is. Seeing the ship as it is coming together was impressive. Even though we couldn't understand anything that was said, as the whole tour was in German, we still took it all in.

It just makes us more excited to be on the Magic with everyone. We'll see you all in just a few more days.

I hope I haven't missed much on the thread, but I can't go back a read all the posts now. Maybe Lyn can give me the Readers Digest version in a few days.

Until next time, safe journeys to everyone.
Jon

If you see this, say “Hi” to Emiel and Yvette from me. We were on the first Med cruise of this year together and I met them at both the DIS Meet and at a special DIS reception we had on the second sea day.

This must have been an absolutely wonderful opportunity to visit Meyer Werft and see the Dream being built, even if you did not understand what was being said. I have to admit that even as a native German speaker, I probably would have been so wrapped up in looking at the ship that I probably would not have understood anything either.

Thank you so much!!!! You are a wealth of info. I'm printing this out so I have it. My friend called today and said the way the flights are looking we may have to go to Rome. Any advice for there? We will continue to monitor and make a decision Wednesday. Then when we get to Charlotte if things change we can go either direction. If you haven't guessed, I'm retired airline and the friends I'm meeting still work there.

Thanks again. I'm hoping for Madrid, it's closer and I could walk if I had to. Yeah right, with three rollaboards!!!!!

Oh, the pleasures of flying standby. I have never been to Madrid and can’t help you there. I spent a day in Rome on our Med cruise and absolutely loved it. We had a look at the Colloseum (outside only) and then I visited various landmarks from the book “Angels and Demons”. It was great to actually see them for myself. I am hoping to go back at some stage for a long weekend and then I definitely want to visit the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and the inside of St. Peter’s Basillica. I got a ticket for the Hoho bus and managed to get either off right next to the sights I wanted to see or only a short walk away.

I suffer from that illness too!!! Unfortunately I am afflicted with another - 'need choice';) Makes my packing very stressful!:rotfl2:

You will be gone by now, but I hope you have a good flight and a great cruise.

Yes, he did have the dental work done on Thurs. He was 5 hours in the dental chair - the staff took lunch break in there, so he was 3 hours, one hour break then 2 more hours. Ouch!! He was sore for a couple of days. We were camping so after the procedures I took him back to the campground and put him to bed for a bit.

We had a wonderful 5 days camping with friends. :goodvibes As many as 23 of us at one point. We had a total of 6 campsites, all right by each other. It was really a great time.

I did take good care of him. :lovestruc:goodvibes He really did quite well considering.....:)

:scared::faint: Not looking forward to paying for all this...our "dental insurance" does not cover any of it. :sad2:

Wow, 5 hours is bad!!!! Glad he could have a lie down afterwards. What did you do while he was there?

I thought about you over the weekend having a great camping trip. What a lot of happy campers

Just ask me what time it is, I'm taking 8 watches.:lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: The customs will think you are selling watches!!!

One for each time zone? :rotfl2:

Ah, easier than having to change your 1 watch!!!:rotfl2:

We had a set of shops collapse yesterday after some after shocks and we are having the first of the buildings demolished this afternoon.

We had a terrible nights sleep with 3 5+ aftershocks which kept us awake plus lots of others in the 3 & 4 range.

We are busy at work trying to work with customers who have buildings that are condemned.

The building my brother works in, was cleared for reentry but then they found cracks in the foundations and had to evacuate and its now marked as not safe.

We haven't had any aftershocks for some hours now but I doubt we will be so lucky to have a quiet night. Robert's Mum may well come and stay tonight as she's too unnerved on her own

It must have all been so frightening, and now unbelievable in the after effects. It looks like it is going to take some time to sort everything out. I can't believe the size of those aftershocks.

Thought I should post this now as folks are already heading out:

Dee & Steven, Wanda & Mike, Pat & Tom, Woody & Mrs Woody, Marilyn & John, Noel & John, Angie & Dennis & PJ, Connie & Chuck, Ann & Albert, Cynthia & JT, Krissan, Kaz, Kathryn, wish I was cruising with you all again! Mandy...we WILL make a cruise together next year! And to my 'new' facebook friends that I met here in the early days of this thread...hope you all have a safe, healthy and MAGICAL cruise!

.

Looking at that list Jackie, you really should have been onboard with all your friends.

Can't believe how fast the time is going. A little over a week and we'll all be on the Magic. This dream has finally become a reality. For all of you folks starting to head out, have a safe journey! I still have much to do before next week, but will be checking in frequently. Looking forward to Barcelona & bringing the Magic home!

Safe travels, see you in a few days.

Still it was a wonderful weekend with family - 19 people and seven dogs!!! (that's 10 people and three dogs at the mountain house and 9 people and four dogs at the camp site).

Sounds like a nice time. Just think the next vacation will be with a couple hundred "dis-family" members and a few hundred more friends.

Sorry to hear you are dealing with aftershocks at such a high level. Hope all remains safe for you and the family.

Once Yvette is up and moving I'll pass it along.

Seeing the Dream was wonderful. Lots of pictures were taken. I tried to upload video to FB but couldn't. I'll give it a try again.

I agree with you, but when my husband told me a gross drink fountain story, I understood!

Aaargh, I can imagine...

Well, we will bring our own dish soap thing and I will probably take my portable water boiler with me. In order to cleaning Simon's bottles (and ours) thoroughly.

Hello from Cologne, Germany, where we are having a delightful time with friends. Tomorrow we will leave for Amsterdam for three days.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on board soon.

Woody

Great to hear from you. I am glad that you are having a good time.

Hi, everyone (or whoever's left here)

Just finished our on-line check-in, we leave tomorrow (shuttle to airport at 4:00 am!)

Today dedicated to:
finish last FE gift
food shopping to lay in stores for 2 DS staying at home
trip to Wal-mart for last minute discoveries of stuff we don't have for trip
laundry
charge iPod
finish packing
early bedtime (I hope)

See you!
:cutie:

Have a safe journey.

I went to Macy's this weekend and the sales were amazing! I made out like a champ! I found a formal dress, 2 pair of capri pants, jacket, shirt, etc. Dress is already at the cleaner's. I've been packing (also known as throwing stuff into suitcases with the intention to organize it before I leave) this weekend. I'm impressed with everyone who is already packed! And guess what I just realized.....

:banana:ONE WEEK FROM TODAY WE WILL BE ON OUR WAY TO BARCELONA!!!!!:banana:

...and now back to packing!

Looks like you had a very successful shopping day.

NO jewelery yet. But still hopeful.

I really hope that it will turn up. I was just about ready to give up all hope and then another package turned up, bringing the number of missing package down to three. Let's hope they will make it, too.

I am packing a large cup. When I was on the cruise last time, and got something to eat at Pluto's, get my drink, etc. By the time I got back to my table, I was done drinking. They now give you the tiny little cups. I had to get up 6 times during my lunch. I am packing a big cup - is anybody else doing this ridiculous thing or just me?????

I will use the Castaway Cay bottle a lot.

Hola amigos!

I'm going to try and keep up from this point forward. Mom's visit was fun....just what I needed. Moms know best, don't you know! One thing we did was go to a local ice cream parlor that is working its way to become national name. I can't believe I've never gone to Jeni's, which is just down the street from me. I've heard so much about their unique flavors, but never have taken the time to stop by or pick up a $12 pint at the gourmet markets. Wow was it ever delish!!! I got Bangkok Peanut that has a spicy kick that slowly explodes in your mouth and Sweet Corn & Black Raspberries that was incredible! I want to get back there before another seasonal flavor, Goat Cheese with Roasted Red Cherries, goes away.

I'm also doing the  single digit dance  today. Sad thing is that it just hit me yesterday that I was at T-10!! Needless to say a good week and a half really slipped by too quickly.

One "tragedy" from the weekend is that my cell phone has had its last day of operation. It just won't fully boot up. So I've been busy researching suggestions for a new phone. This morning I ordered the Droid 2. I am SO happy to change from AT&T to Verizon service. It's just bad timing for many reasons. I seem to recall that it was maybe Sandi who said she found that there's a minimal fee to have the international texting service. So I need to look into that as soon as the phone arrives.

I'm working on my time change adjustment to minimize the jet lag. Although I woke up at 4:30 am this morning (and unable to fall back asleep), I only had 4.5 hours of sleep. So I'm hopeful that I'll just collapse around 9:00 pm and get into a real schedule!

I hope you all are doing okay, and for those still facing challenges, big :grouphug: to you and pixiedust: for resolutions!

Well, I need to keep up my momentum of being productive, so off I go!

For everyone in the USA no working, I hope you're having a nice Labor Day!

TTFN

PS: I'm going to revive the following post I put out there a few days ago when I was breezing by. If you have any input, please share!

I am glad that you had a great time with your mum. The ice cream flavours sound amazing and so unusual.

I leave Friday for Charlotte and then Saturday or Sunday to Rome. Arrive Barcelona the 15th or16th. My plans have changed so many times I'm just not sure which. :confused3

That means I only have three more full days....hurray!

I hope that all goes according to plan and you have a safe and uneventful trip.

Corinna- We leave on the 15th. What tools do you want people to bring for the jewelry workshop?

It is not necessary to bring tools, but if you want to then round-nosed pliers and either flat-nosed or chain-nosed pliers is all that is needed. I will bring three sets of tool, but any extra tools will help.

I just checked availability for our cruise, and it looks like we have Cats 11, 10 and 9 available for 2A/2C at the moment.

But by far the most interesting thing I saw when searching the DCL website was the option for a previously unannounced TA cruise, in December 2010 on....the Dream! It doesn't look like something that you can book (perhaps without knowing the secret booking code) but very curious to see it listed out there. Here's a screen shot of what I saw, with the available options highlighted in yellow! (Ignore the dark blue over LA, there is no port selected and I'm not sure why it shows as highlighted.)

f99b8d08.jpg

That would be a cruise that I would love to do, but even if it should go on public sale, which I doubt, I would not have enough vacation time left.
