Mandy - if you are looking for a scream when I get to the port, I am usually not a screamer in general, not even scary rides or childbirth, I will give you a little scream and a hug!!! My twin will get a hug too!!!

We'll be on the ground safely, not in the sky so a hug is needed! :)

No, we do not tip them. Here it's normal to that whitout getting a tip.
We do it when we are going out eating but it's a few euro not 10% of the bill.

And the cleaningguy or girl is getting a few euro's, but that's all.

Ofcourse they do like it when you tip them, but it's not normal over here.

Connie

Thank you for clarifying the tipping policy so we know what the real situation is in Europe. I always tip the maids in the room as well.

I'm definitely bringing my Cove Cafe cup. If we have room, we'll bring one or two other Disney cups. Have to have something for our rum punch!

We did that too. We own a DCL sport bottle and I wanna bring that one. Don't like the small cups in the fitness center.

Don't quite understand the sanitary reasons?!?!? I consider it more ecological to not produce so much trash with all the cups for just some sips...

I second that. But we tip a bellman.

Eating: I usually sum up a little bit.

I am thinking that perhaps people don't have the facility to properly wash their own cups, or at least to hygenic standards. If the cups touch the outflow of the drinks machines, maybe they think the bugs will cross contaminate.

I agree on the ecological thing, but the cruise lines have a major job with containing tummy bugs and do try their best.

I guess the paper cups might go for recycling, but don't know for sure. The hot drink cups wouldn't though.

Good Morning everyone!!!

Oh, will someone please tell Amanda that carrying a hot pink Coach purse in Barcy is asking for trouble?

that brings back memories - when I graduated from High School my senior trip was to Paris and the French Riviera - one of the girls I was with had her BRIGHT PINK billfold pick pocketed and the only
way we knew it was because it was bright pink - it stood out like a sore thumb. Our french teacher - who organized the trip - ran after the guy, yelled at him in french (none of us knew what she said) and he gave it back and ran away!

Does anyone know if you have to sigh up for Ocean Quest?
:cheer2::cheer2:FashionistaGirl:cheer2::cheer2:

no you do not

I figure no one will notice anyways and for the pic I will just have hubby and I lean so mickey logo is straight :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

After all the tastings this group is involved in mickey will be straight. It will just be everyone that is leaning.:lmao::lmao:

Sitting with Emiel and Yvette tonight looking over photo books from past cruises and vacations had an idea. Who would be interested in a group photo/story book after the trip? We could combine pictures and have it put together. Cost would be dependent upon numbers. If anyone is interested pm me since I maynot have time to keep up the thread.

Safe journeys,

Jon

I finished my Mickey mouse club t-shirts. They turned out ok but mickey is not quite in the middle so it looks like he hit the bar early. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I love it!!!! Can't wait to see your shirts!!! :thumbsup2

You sound like you really got some good deals!! We are still organizing our packing as well as we have WAY too much stuff!!

We will be on our way in one week as well!! I am so excited about getting ready for this trip!!

I'm trying not to pack too much stuff but I suffer from "Just in Case" disease. This means I usually pack everything I own so I have it on hand "just in case" it's needed.
Oh man, I need help!!! :lmao::lmao:

I agree with you, but when my husband told me a gross drink fountain story, I understood!

I am a fellow sufferer!! This time I am making a list of what I plan to wear day by day event by event!! Still is filling two suitcases for me!! What to do about the FE gifts etc. is my next dilemma!! John is all packed. All that is left is to figure out the toiletries and FE gifts.

I can't believe how far behind i've fallen. i feel like a marathon runner who has managed to keep up for all of the race but now the finishing line is in sight you're all putting in a final sprint

I'm back at page 180!!!!

i'm going back and gonna skim i fear ;)

My cousin (who is also a great friend) has just decided tonight that she would like to me me in WDW at the end of my cruise, so she's just pricing up a last minute trip.

Who does she think she is!!!!! i've been waiting 2 years for this trip to roll round and she jumps in at the last minute :rotfl:

It'll be great to meet up with her in WDW we always have the best time together

SW

Right back to 180 for me :guilty:

Finally getting caught up with this thread!

Had a very busy weekend, and I'm still wiped out from my head cold last week. Went to the Renaissance Faire on Saturday and to St Michael's on Sunday for lunch with the in-laws for their birthdays and our anniversary. Spent the morning shopping for the trip and the afternoon working on a report for work.

Congrats to all of you already packed! I hope to have everything done next weekend before we fly out on the 16th. SO much to get done.

Jon

I think Mickey will be talking as well by the end of the cruise after all the tastings are done!

I woke up this morning all ready to go into work, excited about the day and all. Then I got sick. :( This is twice in one week that I've had a stomach bug...I'm not liking it at all. I can't afford all of this down time right now!!!! :(

I had a few crackers and some ginger ale and now I'm back off to bed...

Hope things have calmed down for you now.

We probably could come up with a better exchange rate as I think the places that do it charge a fee and that is why we are seeing different rates.

Maybe we should put this in the navigator.

Have dollars, need pounds.

Have pounds, need dollars.

Etc.

But, I would only want the monetary pounds, not the kind that show up on the scale!!

That sounds like a great idea. Why give our $ to the banks when we can just accommodate each other?

Great idea! I'll sign up for the have pounds need dollars group!

And we'll sign up for the $ to pounds/euros list.

Ohgosh I've been so stressed about other life stuff (that you know about) and now I've got some of that still going on plus hurry and get ready for this vacation!

P&PD for Cathy, and you need to concentrate on having a stress-free vacation.

I still have to do my DCL check in too. I don't remember, is there something I have to print out or is it just all done online?

I'm feeling better, thankfully! I had chicken noodle soup and it tasted wonderful! I'm going to take it easy today though...

There are 2 forms that need to be printed out and brought to the ship: 1. the credit card authorization form and 2. the contract page, which needs to be signed.

I love my normal Crocs as slippers but haven't found any Croc flip flops that were suitable. My feet just slid around on them. However I love love love my FitFlops!!! I could wear them all day.

i wish I could shop at Bloomingdales!

I ordered a pair of Fit Flops last week at a fantastic price, but the right one cut into my foot at the top of the thong and I had to send them back. I was very disappointed :sad1:. Wish I could wear them. I will probably be depending on my Teva mush flip flops for much of the time onboard; I've worn them around WDW and never had a blister.

My Dad was a military/commercial pilot until 6 years ago, just retired as an airline VP a few weeks, actually. He would ditto the wearing clothes, cotton clothes, on planes thing, and he NEVER takes his shoes off, for safety reasons. I freeze on planes, so I wear all my bulky items and layers on the plane. It saves space in my carry on, too. I LOOOOOVE flying.

DH loves it too. Me, I'm scared out of my little mind :scared1:.

Okay, I am trying to poke out my mind's eye cause I am thinking that every time you get a call, you will get a little thrill!!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

And if they try to pick-pocket you while you're naked, you might actually like it. ; )

Ooooo, cheeky ;). :lmao:

One short week from today DH & I board a plane headed for Barcelona. Where has the time gone? Nothing is done. No progress has been made since my last post. House elves must be on vacation. You just can't get good help these days!

This weeks agenda is full. BBQ today at DS's. Tomorrow John & I celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary...which we will continue to celebrate on the Magic. Need to see dr for bad hip. Blood tests to have done. And I still need to pack.

Any ideas how Disney will entertain us during the evening showtimes for 14nights, besides the usual shows? Any surprise entertainers scheduled to appear?

We will be spending a week at Kidani Village after the cruise. I read somewhere on this thread that someone else is also staying there. We have a rental car ordered for the week and will be making a grocery/outlet run. If you need something, let me know. Would be more than happy to pick up a few things for you. Maybe we could plan a dinner out... (Like we'll be hungry after 14 breakfasts, 14 mid morning snacks, 14 lunches, 14 afternoon snacks, 14 dinners, & 14 bedtime snacks on the Magic! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) Oh, I forgot those miscellaneous snacks from Room Service!

Let's all try to stay well and get those important things accomplished that we've put off till the last minute. We get to party together very soon. Looking forward to meeting you all...

Jackie

Jackie, good luck. We haven't started packing yet either.

Happy Anniversary! Twenty-five years mark quite an achievement! Seems like there are a good number of us celebrating anniversaries on this trip.

I hope you are all doing well. Have a Happy Labor Day.

How are you feeling, Becky?

Just a quick Hello and a quick Goodbye ,,,,,see you on the ship

I will post on FB but most likely not hear .....

Isn't Dennis having his 2 root canal treatments today?

Thinking of you Dennis. Just think afterwards, all the nasty things are over and you can relax and think about the vacation!!!

I have had quite a few now, and it was one thing on my list of 'Don't Ever Want', and I can say I have never had a problem and never felt anything. I have had more problems with normal fillings. I guess they give better local anaesthetic for a root canal. I am the biggest wimp when it comes to going to the dentist. I even get in a right state going for check ups. I'm worrying just sitting here thinking about it.:confused3:lmao:

Yes, he did have the dental work done on Thurs. He was 5 hours in the dental chair - the staff took lunch break in there, so he was 3 hours, one hour break then 2 more hours. Ouch!! He was sore for a couple of days. We were camping so after the procedures I took him back to the campground and put him to bed for a bit.

We had a wonderful 5 days camping with friends. :goodvibes As many as 23 of us at one point. We had a total of 6 campsites, all right by each other. It was really a great time.
Somebody mentioned it, but I do believe Dennis is having his root canal today. I hope Angie is taking good care of him.
.

I did take good care of him. :lovestruc:goodvibes He really did quite well considering.....:)

I hate paying for dental care!!

:scared::faint: Not looking forward to paying for all this...our "dental insurance" does not cover any of it. :sad2:

Is there someone who wants a shotglass from Amsterdam, Patrick bought 3 instead one i asked for.

Connie

If no one else has asked for these, we would love one.:thumbsup2

Just a quick Hello and a quick Goodbye ,,,,,see you on the ship

GIVE NOTHING BACK!!

I am so far behind there is no way I will read all the posts... Hope all who are traveling are safe! Let me know if there is anything important I missed since last Wednesday.

Are you go to the Stoneridge mall? I took my DD and GD shopping there at the end of July for her school clothes etc.

Yes, that's where we went. My friend found nothing and I came out with four bags.....ugh! But they were necessities.....shoes, undies and I found a Pacsafe waist wallet at the VIP luggage store. Now I feel safe. My DH comes home from his trip tomorrow so today was the last of the shopping trips. I want to spend time with him before I leave on Friday morning, have to be at SFO by 4:30 a.m.

We decided last night to definitely go to Rome first. A friend of mine who is Italian booked us a suite at the beautiful Hotel Veneto, right in the heart of the city. He says it is perfecto! I have been to Northern Italy but not to Rome. I am so excited. Then to see Barcelona again will be great and to meet up at the HRC will be exciting. And finally board the Ship.....what could be better for a 60th birthday present????!!!!!!! The only better thing is if my DH could have come.

Corinna- We leave on the 15th. What tools do you want people to bring for the jewelry workshop?

I just remembered I need to get a watch before the cruise. I never wear one as I use my cell phone or just clocks but my phone won't be on most of the trip. So I guess I gotta get a watch.;)

I hope you are all doing well. Have a Happy Labor Day.

Just ask me what time it is, I'm taking 8 watches.:lmao:

I to am a sufferer of that but I am now resolved that if I need it I will just make hubby buy it for me :lmao: Like do I really need all these nylons :scared1: the what if I get a snag, well with the lack of room I will just have to go with the runs :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
