Laura (Eeyorelvr10) is already having flight issues due to Hurricane Earl. They have been re-routed from Atlanta to La Guardia but the flight from NYC to Barcelona leaves out of JFK.....they will arrive into LGA at 4:08 and the flight to BCN leaves at 5:40.....not much time, so lets hope that they make it.

Will keep you updated :)

Oh no !!! Everything crossed for Laura and her family. Hoping they make it on time. :wizard::wizard::wizard:

I work as an medical assistant in podiatry for 20 years. Have it done. If it is currently infected soak in luke warm water and 2 teaspoons of epsom salt. If you put to much in it will burn. If its not to infected they will do the permanment procedure with the chemical Feebs was talking about if not they will removed the infected nail and he will get alot of relief. He will need to wear a sandal for a while becuase the shoe rubbing on the toe from to much walking is painful. pm me if you want me to bring a gel toe guard for him so shoes are more comfortable. The main thing that will bother him is the salt water It will BURN like crazy. Use a waterproof banaid for whenever he goes in the water. We suggest not going in any lakes or rivers until it is healed.

i would not suggest cutting a v in your nail it will cause it to grow up in the middle allowing fungus to get under it.

We do this at least 3 times a day.

If he cant get into one before the cruise check with your local urgent care ask them if they take care of sports injuries to toes. Even the trainer from his high school should be able to give him a referral to someone who does it.

Amanda

Thanks for all the suggestions, will definitely contact you about the toe guard. I know there are some toe guard options out there, but have not been able to find anything on my own. Trying to figure out a way to provide some extra protection for tomorrow's game.

I did receive a call from the podiatrist's office but have not been able to reach anyone live when I phone back. I did also ask my son to find out the name of the sport's doctor that the team uses. Seems like I'm on the right track. Now to just get something scheduled.

So, the first of our travellers, and they have hit a a problem. :sad2: How long will it take them to change airports? How stressful.

excting eh?:rotfl:

good.. good

Youre in the money, your in the money(I sang that)

Im NOT in the money, last night I dropped my new posh phone, after buying new memory and loading all my stuff in it, twice in my life ive lost phones, once in Switzerland, and the extremes the folks went to to get it back to me, take it to the bus, bus driver dropped it in to hotel reception...:love:switzerland,
this phone I drop 2 mins from home and someone picked it up and kept it, it was engaged for 30 mins after I lost it then switched off, it had lots of credit and battery in it. Scotland can be a real dissapointment sometimes, and then I think of all the phones Ive returned to folks:confused3.
Anyway, it could have been worse, could have been one of the beagles I lost:dance3:

Sorry about the phone, but your comment about Switzerland peaked my interest. We will have a 5 hour lay over in Zurich on our way to Barcelona. All of the travel sites I have read say that we would have plenty of time to take the train into the city, even if we just wander for an hour. So now I will get to add Switzerland to my list of places I have visited.

I think maybe we should .... a few of us have commented that the spanx or magic knockers didn't quite have the desired effect, and have sent them back. Maybe our expectations were just too high. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Lets embrace our wobbly bits !!!!!

I think that's what I shall be doing Sarah......however must just say I'm not sure my knockers are magic!!!!:rolleyes1::rotfl:

Is the pool outdoor .... or does it have a glass roof?

It has a retractable roof sarah, so from May til end of September the roof is off....lovely at the moment!:goodvibes

I am the same way!! We have a joke in our family that when I leave the house, there shall be no trash in the trash!! This time DD will be here and she knows that the house must be clean when I return. What is most important to me is a clean bedroom, a bed with clean sheet and an immaculate bathroom when I return!
maid.gif

That's me too! :thumbsup2

It does help me relax but what I need to do is sleep. If I don't I can loose as much as three days before I can catch up to be normal. Last time DH,DD Samantha and I went to the UK, DD and I took about 3 days to catch up before we could sightsee. This time I am determined to figure out a way to sleep so I don't loose the first three days of this trip!!

I always lose loads of sleep coming over the States, Noel, partly because I just can't sleep well in a strange bed, and partly due to the time change......by the end of the holiday I'm usually just getting to normal....then have to start again when we fly home!:rolleyes1

Two weeks from now, I will be running around the house making sure I have everything while I am waiting for Stephanie to pick me up in two and a half hours!!!!!! :cool1::dance3::cheer2::yay::woohoo::thumbsup2:cool1::yay::cool1::dance3:

:dance3::dance3:

Sometimes it seems the gods are out to get you. I just got an offer :
Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival
Calling all theobromine freaks! Okay, so that's not the best rallying cry for the Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival. But any chocoholic knows that cocoa can be a mild antidepressant and a sexual stimulant, and for that we thank theobromine, the active ingredient in chocolate. Get your fix for 50% off when you buy today's deal for their 15th annual festival, which will be held on September 11th and 12th. Today's $10 voucher buys you 15 samples -- chocolate-filled, chocolate-covered, and chocolate-flavored everything -- from around 40 Bay Area vendors. Time your visit with a chocolate-themed event or demonstration, like cocoa buff Scott Broccolli's tutorial on barbecuing with brown bliss. How's that for hot chocolate?

AND the tickets are 50% off- it would be criminal to pass it up don't you think? val

I'm so glad I'm so far away.......I'd have to break the diet for that!:rolleyes1

Cool beans, thank you!

I am trying to pack today. But after shopping yesterday it is harder, have to leave something behind. Did I mention that I live on a sailboat so it's hard for me to just lay things out and leave them like others can do in a spare room? So once I start a project I have to finish it.

Judy

Had to smile at that saying Judy.......'Cool Beans' is my friend's favourite saying and you are the only other person I know who has said it,...:thumbsup2:goodvibes

It's very cool you live on a boat.......my dd's friend lives on a houseboat near London and dd is very envious!:thumbsup2

:littleangel:

I will miss all the season openings of the shows I like to watch. But then again I miss that every September.

I like Criminal Minds. Grey's, House etc.

Ruth, I'm hoping we don't miss too much Greys, CI etc.....:rolleyes1

No question is dumb!!! Some people are going all formal, but some are just wearing purple and black. I have a purple T shirt which I will wear with some black trousers/crops. Some won't be doing anything different to their normal cruise casual. Just go with what you feel like.

Absolutely! I have black trousers and a sparkly purple top I shall wear....nothing too formal or glam I'm afraid!:thumbsup2

Well I have had 3 emails from the Praktik Rambla. The first one I only saw written in Spanish and was worried they had cancelled my reservation or something:scared1:, until I scrolled down and found English!!! There are 3 events on while we are there and they want to know if we want tickets. I haven't heard of 2 of the people, the 3rd is a football match with Barcelona playing at home to some unknown to me team. so, I won't be spending any money on these.;)

Now, for me, watching Barcelona would be amazing!!! Shame I won't be there in time!:sad2:

I'm sure it will . I can imagine all the other cruisers ( non-DIS) will be wondering "why on earth are all those crazy people wearing purple !! "

( and wearing masks and fascinators!! )

:lmao: I'm sure they'll soon get used to us crazies!!:thumbsup2

I was just reading that on FB Pam....poor Laura, hope she makes it!

Nice looking dress .
Thanks...
Ok dumbo question coming up. You think after waiting 2 years I would be prepared. Is villian night a formal or just theme. I keep seeing these awesome dress and am confused:confused3

I am just wrapping my mind around villian night. I never wear purple so I am think of maybe a purple accessory?
It's not a formal night. I just opted for a maxi as it's easy to pack and wear... :thumbsup2

Sorry, didn't mean to stress you. I am always too cautious. :grouphug:

"If you have an existing reservation and are unsure that it meets the Secure Flight requirements, please access your itinerary now and scroll down to select the “Secure Flight Passenger Data” link on the right side of the page. Then, submit your information as it appears on your non-expired government-issued photo ID. Please note that the name that you provide does not have to exactly match the name on your ticket or SkyMiles account." :thumbsup2

OK I just went online and did it. It only wanted our names and birthdates, though, which I'm 99.9% certain were already in their system....it didn't ask for our passport numbers or anything like that...so I'm assuming we're all set.

Sounds a lovely day, Mandy... :cloud9: Did you have a nice lunch...?

we did thank you, lunch at a nice riverside pub :cloud9: then made Becky trek round a garden centre where she ended up buying several cacti and a venus fly trap for her new flat! (she reckons she won't be able to kill them) We're taking her back to Bristol on Saturday so I'm making the most of our time these last couple of days.....:goodvibes

Hope your son gets it sorted in good time, I know how painful it can be :sad2:

Better safe than sorry...:thumbsup2

Glad you were able to update online.. :)

No passport numbers required for me. ;)

Enjoy your trip, wish we could be away from DD and Grandkids for that long. We would have joined you. Di takes care of them while DD works. :worship:

Oh dear, that is so very bad. Seems to be too many mistakes like this these days. I hope the money is back in your account pretty quickly. Just keep checking they don't charge you for going into overdraft!!! Wouldn't put it past them.

I have had such a busy day!!! :hyper:

First up, I received my cruise documents at last!!! :dance3: I wasn't too fussed/worried but it's nice to be official!!! ;)

Secondly, most of my FE stuff is now finished and I must say, I'm rather pleased with the results!!! :thumbsup2

Thirdly, I have only one more door magnet left to work on and have printed out all those that are completed!!! :cool1:

Fourthly, I checked all my cruise clothes and I actually think I'm done. Just waiting on a pair of gold sandals to arrive before I can close the case - well, not literally but you know what I mean... I'm really happy with most of the outfits and can't wait to wear them now!!! Bring it on!!! :woohoo:

And finally, I've almost finished making a complex DVC rental reservation (just 1 day to go) for a Fairytale Wedding that has been several months in the planning. As we're now so cleaned out points-wise, I'm thinking I might just see what the onboard offers are like... :rolleyes1

Sounds like you are ready to go!! I am afraid of this weekend's packing weight!!
