Hey everyone....
Just a quick update before work.....for those of you who look at the lanyard list at all, you will notice there is a new column called "DIS name formatted." In that column you'll see your DIS name----either by itself or inside parentheses---for every person in your party. I wanted to explain what that is in case people are wondering. My genius hubby, Jason, added that column last night because he's created a mail merge program that will drop people's first names and DIS names onto their name badges so I don't have to hand type them all in myself (which is how I usually do it). That column now shows how every person's DIS name will appear on their name badge------
If there are NOT parentheses around the DIS name then that is an indication that person is the actual DIS user who posts to these boards under that name. (So for example, my name tag will have my First name in big letters "ERIK" and beneath it my DIS name, "tig82174"----that way if you see me aboard the ship you'll know who I am).
If there ARE parentheses around the DIS name, then that means that person is not the primary DIS member but is travelling with the DIS member (so, for example, my hubby Jason will have his name "JASON" in big letters and beneath will be MY DIS name in parentheses "(tig2174)"---so if you see him around the ship, especially without me (which isn't very likely
) you'll know that he is travelling with tig82174....a name you are likely to recognize from the boards).
Hope that makes sense.....that's the way I've typically done nametags in the past and it's worked well.
This new column might be a good opportunity for folks to take a look at the lanyard list again if you want and just make sure it all looks right. We will probably be actually printing out the badges themselves right around the 1st of August (and after that if anyone else joins late then I will have a supply of blank name badges, with just the image on them, that we can handwrite in the names and DIS names).
