See I'm just volunteering people without telling them lol! I have no idea who volunteered then before but hey never mind

no problem - I have magazines that I could bring but most of them are Christmas related and will have pages pulled out. I may or may not have told you all this but this will be a working cruise for me - I will be using the time to finish up my book and prepare my business for the Christmas season. That being said - I may bring the Christmas magazines I still need to go through and will pass them on if anyone else wants to go through them BUT be warned I pull things out that I want/need.

A couple of you have mentioned you are booked on the Alaska cruise next year. We just got back from our second Alaska cruise and I wanted to share with you a great find. To plan for our Alaska trip, we talked with Scott McMurran, an Alaska resident and radio-based travel adviser, out of Anchorage Alaska. After asking what we were interested in, he gave us a number of ideas. He also suggested we look into the Great Alaska TourSaver coupon book which he organizes (it is a sponsor of the Alaska Special Olympics). The book offers 2-for-1 deals at many of the ports the cruise ships stop at. The book is $100. While the cost is more then other coupon books available, many of the deals offered are the higher cost excursions. I reviewed the TourSaver website, www.toursaver.com to determine what excursions I would want to use from the book. I then called the excursion providers to find out if a spot was available and if I could use the coupon on the day we would be in port. Only then did I actually purchase the book and it was well worth it. We went on a whale watching excursion and Mt. Roberts tram in Juneau, a helocopter and glacier landing and couple of other excursions. There were other people who had booked through the cruise ship on the same excursions but paid more then twice as much. We would not have done all we did but for the coupon book. I would be happy to share the other info we got if you PM me.

Well this look like a lost cause. ReAnSt and I are in the back of a van with a laptop and a air card try to book Palo brunch. We are on the way home for 4th of july firework at Hersheypark. Still trying but not looking good

Not even a whiff of a Palo brunch :sad2: ....... so I'm off back to bed. See you all later

I'm giving up too!

I was up trying to get my mom's reservations: I think Disney is terrible, I really do. No tea, no brunch, and the only reservations for dinner were the first night and Tortola. With all those sea days surely there should be enough spots for people to go to brunch and tea. And to not get one of the two I could understand, but both? It really leaves those people hoping for some kid-free dining time with a bad taste in their mouths.

I got so mad I canceled all my excursions with them except one. I was considering doing all the ports on our own (except one) anyways, and this just sealed the deal. I usually like Disney customer service but with the Palo thing they have their customer service in their boots.

I hope others did better!

I can't even get in now, I was on, selected my Palo dinner and excursions, didn't confirm them, was selecting my spa stuff and it locked me out, FANTASTIC!!! Stupid Site!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Eric, I am definitely feeling your frustration from your booking night, This is ridiculous, It just locks me out, Doesn't it want my business? :headache:

Ok, I got in and booked the tour to Virgin Gorda at Tortola, anyone else going?
And Palo dinner on Tortola night, I figure we're not there late so should be OK.
Then it locked my out again??? Whatever!!! :confused3

So sorry you guys had so much trouble booking!! As Michelle said, very reminiscent of the WBPC bookings.

However all hope is not lost, Palo bookings will be available on the ship!!

Lovely dress, and you look lovely too Krisann. I'm glad we get to see the dress in real life!

The Fourth of July concert was really nice. They always play "The Armed Forces Salute" It is the theme songs for the five armed forces here in the US. I always love that song because it is awe inspiring to see the men and women stand up when their branch of service song is played. What I noticed tonight however was there was not a lot of folks who stood up. I hope that was just because some folks did not attend. There was about 300 folks that attended the concert.

Sounds like you had a lovely evening!! We didn't attend anything this year as we usually do because of a wedding next weekend. We usually are at Lake Almanor where before the band shell concert we have a parade to honor the servicemen and women.

My Pacsafe bag came today. I got the Venturesafe 200 and I rather like it now I have seen it in the flesh. Plus it wasn't as expensive as some. The colour is a kind of salmon red, but rather nice. The choice was a little limited.

Okay Noel, you have talked me into it. I am now curvalicous and VC. It sounds sexier. Even though I am fluffy like Winnie th Pooh.:lmao:

Thanks for joining the club!! We definitely do sound sexier. If we are Fluffy, we can be like Marie in the Arisotcats

Thank you! it was made for me by the owner of the local fabric shop that I go to - I could not find a pattern that I liked and I wanted a particular type of dress (high waist) and a very full skirt and she came up with this design. I choose the lace with the beading and just loved it. I was supposed to have my pearl necklace and bracelet on with it BUT I could not find where I hid my little box I kept them in right before the cruise. Good news is my son found where I hid the box this past week when he was looking for something I hid from him (we were playing) I was so excited and relieved that we found it.

oh and I do not wear heals and the shes I have on under it are a pair of ballerina type flats that I got at Payless and they are the most comfortable shoes! I am trying to decide if I should put my crynilon (sp?) under the dress to make it more ball gown for the princess night? I need to try it on that way and see how it looks

After my emails and Facebook(just because I had some PM's on there), this was the first place I came to!!!:grouphug:

You say the sweetest things!!

That is just more than frustrating! I think Disney has the most pathetic websites. I know they have a lot of information on them, and many visitors, but goodness me, other companies manage.

DCL has a captive audience and clearly does not feel the need or the obligation to fix the website. Maybe if the percentage of shore excursions, Palo and Spa bookings drop might things change. More likely, DCL would just attribute the drop in less users!!

No amount of complaints to DCL seem to have any affect on the quality of website. I guess since we are only booking not spending ACTUAL money on the site they just don't care as they feel we can book on the ship.

Just my thoughts...

That's a lovely dress Krisann! You look wonderful :cool1:

OK I may have to check these out.....they sound very interesting!:thumbsup2

I don't do heels either, just cannot walk in them so tend to wear flats with my dresses too :thumbsup2 Your crinoline sounds exciting btw!:)

It's not near as elegant as what you ordered, but I think it's very flattering on me and won't take up as much packing room as the one I fell in love with on eBay. :thumbsup2 The one I ended up ordering is black and white and includes a stole. It's not as glitzy as I wanted, but with some clever ideas my mom came up with for the stole to take advantage of the two-tone, adding the tiara, and some bling with jewelry, it's going to look nice. Even the bridal consultant was impressed with the look we pulled together. It's expected in about 4-5 weeks.

Beautiful dress!! I think you will look lovely!!

Grrrr! Sorry you're having so many challenges with the site. :sad2: On a happier note, I'm with you on the Tour to Virgin Gorda! I cannot wait, especially after seeing and reading the trip report that Noel posted last week. The OP of the TR gave a lot of helpful advice, too.

I am trying to convince DH to change to the Tour to Virgin Gorda but he really like the Virgin Sail. Will keep you posted.

I love the lace and beading too, and it looks so nice closer to the face than black sometimes does. I can't get away with flat shoes under my dresses as they are short, but i could do with some comfier heeled sandals for sure!!!

Well all the Disney sites are a pain to be honest. At the moment the DVC members page has the new Aulani advert, and it comes down over the information in the first box on the right hand side. So if you want to click the Upcoming Vacations link, you can't and have to move to another page to find it!!! Why would they want to do that? Just a silly oversight I guess, but very amateurish.

OK I may have to check these out.....they sound very interesting!:thumbsup2

I got it on Amazon with free shipping. There are plenty of others, but I didn't want anything too big. This should fit everything I want without looking huge.

So, since everyone is posting their formal dress... Here is mine...

I didn't get a wrap as I run warm, now watch - this cruise I will be cold...

Gorgeous dress, Sue!! I think you will look scrumptious and just like a princess!!

princessdress.gif

Its like a headpeice. The type of thing you see "Mafia" widows wearing in all the movies. Mine is like a flower and ribbon on a head band and probably doesn't match anything I own but I love it! My sisters is even better as hers has a veil and everything.

Hoping this works from wikipedia (oh and none of these people are me but mine is similar to the bottom left hand corner but with dark green and purple in it instead of white and about half the size)

I love fascinators!! I will have to see if I have room to bring mine along. Cases are getting heavier and heavier.

Some of my clothes may have to come out and stay behind!!

Hope I'm not too late (just can't seem to keep with you all)...

I'm a sort-of-novice scrapbooker who is happy to do fairly simple pages with the emphasis on the photos (although I truly admire the pages that are works of art I see in the magazines).

Q: Can someone fill me in on the scrapbook activity being planned? Is it a class, an exchange, etc? When, how, etc? Who should I contact?

Thanks for the info--and ALL the incredible info on this thread!

Andrea

Whew! I can't believe I'm caught up on nearly 50 missed pages! That will teach me to go away!

Thanks so much for the compliments on the new formal dress.

How fun you got to do a mini meet!! Can't wait to meet the two of you!!

Yes, Kimmy and I had a grand time! Even though neither of us are from the Cleveland area, it was WAY worth the time to drive up there while she was traveling on business. I hope we can do it one more time before she ceases her travels to the Buckeye State!

...I slept in this morning so I am having another lazy morning. John is still asleep. The joys of being an empty nester and having a wonderful Anniversary morning....

Happy (belated) Anniversary, Noel and John!!

How are things going with the DD and her DBF temporarily moved in?

I am getting really excited .... I have just won 3 dresses on Ebay :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

:woohoo: YEA!!!!! I can only imagine how thrilled you are and anxious to try them all on!!! CONGRATS! I cannot wait to see them!

I was the only cruise passenger that dressed up in a villain's costume on the Baltic! ....

Connie, you look FAB-U-LOUS!! You ABSOLUTELY need to bring your costume for this cruise!

....All going well, I have my video appointment for my custom jewellery to go with my formal dresses on Thursday. I am so excited...

Oh what a treat! I'm going to be stalking you to see just how beautiful you're going to be!!!

I'm home sick from work with a cold so forgive me if this makes no sense, I feel like I have cotton wool in my head.....

Are you feeling any better yet?

.... Next year, we're going on an Alaska Disney Cruise with my DMIL (MagicMe) and my parents and twin sister. It will be my parents and sister's first Disney Cruise....

You are?!!! Oh what a WONDERFUL experience for all of you to share!!! :goodvibes I'm so happy for all of you!!!

.....Check Claires or Icining (for tiaras). They both carry them for a fraction of the cost.

Thanks for the tip! I will check that out before making an eBay purchase. I have found some on eBay that I like for less than $20 with free S&H, so I have no worries that I'll get one at a good price.

I like that gown. I wish I could wear strapless or short sleeves.

Trust me. I'm not comfortable with it for myself, but what many were previously saying is true. The dress really does take away from the eyes looking at the arms, even if it's just a temporary diversion. What I like about the one I have is that I can use the stole at times. Plus, I highly suspect I'll get chilly.

Here is my formal dress (for both nights :) ) from the EBTA and I will be wearing it again this cruise for both nights....

That's so lovely!!! Yet another person for me to stalk! :rotfl: The sparkle up at your face is just beautiful! The fabric looks like it it's really fluid, too, which just makes the dress hang so nicely!!

So, since everyone is posting their formal dress... Here is mine...I didn't get a wrap as I run warm, now watch - this cruise I will be cold...

GORGEOUS!! That's just beautiful, Sue!!! You must be so excited to wear it!!

If I get a chance later I may even send in draft 1 to penny tonight to check it looks OK once made....but fingers crossed we may have a preview soon!

Oh that would be awesome! Just one more thing to make us feel that we're closer to being on-board!
