For the folks going to Barcelona early.

On Friday (9/17) we are doing an all day Private tour. We have 4 seats open. If anyone is interested please PM me.

The tour is to Girona And Dali Museum Private Tour Duration: 1 day (10 hours)

Type: chauffeured (separate driver)

Interests: Dali, medieval history, Jewish heritage, countryside

The first part of your full day excursion to northern Catalonia will take you to Girona. Girona is a beautiful medieval town north of Barcelona, with an impressive cultural heritage and a magnificent and well preserved medieval historical center. Girona is also known for the town´s long and rich Jewish history. In the middle ages, Girona's Jewish quarter flourished. Today's Museum of Jewish History perfectly recreates that period.

I will take you on a fascinating trip back in time, as you immerse in the mysterious tiny alleys of the old town, where the walls are said to whisper the secrets of hundreds of years of history.

In the afternoon, your private tour will continue with a guided visit to the Dali Museum in the town of Figueres, to admire the works of this universally admired genius.

Wishing all celebrating, a good independence day and a belated Canada Day for our Canadian cruisers
Michael and Tricia

If anyone is interested that are staying at or near the Le Meridien.

On Saturday (9/18) we are taking a private half day tour to

Montserrat TourDuration: ½ day (5 hours)
Type: chauffeured (separate driver)

Interests: nature, history, art, and spirituality

Montserrat is a beautiful mountain with an impressive monastery located just one hour away from the city, so it makes for a great half day trip outside Barcelona. The bizarre rock formations in Montserrat create a unique universe in stone. The landscape and the view are absolutely breathtaking!

Perched on the mountain, the magnificent Benedictine monastery keeps the revered wooden statue of the Black Madonna inside its basilica. Montserrat is also famous because of the "Escolania", Europe's oldest singing choir. Enjoy the children's beautiful voices before returning to Barcelona!

The tour will depart at 8am (with our luggage) and drop us off at the ship around 1 or 2

We have 4 seats on this tour as well. If anyone is interested please PM me.

still working on catching up so here is the next big response:

KrisannB - I started the strawberry group and announced it but no one has sent me a PM as yet... Do you want the spreadsheet for that group? Let me know and PM me your email addy and I will send it to you!!

Yes that is fine - send them my way - my eamail is akblair@charter.net - you can add my email to your post on the FE post on the beginning pages for peope to request to be added - just have them put in the subject: WBTA FE

I love strawberries and that is a great pick! if this one fills up I will let you know and have you add it to the others if that is ok with you since I do not have a post on the first few pages. I have my spreadsheet up and ready - so anyone who wants to do a FE that has not signed up yet - email me!!!

Oh yes don't worry! We seem to have 2 magazine ones going on so people have 2 options - unless Hoagie Pie & Krissann want to fight over it :rotfl2:

It was not me with the magazines - at least I do not think it was - now games is what I said I was bringing!

Added you guys to the list

Thank you!

Yes, know what you mean, I bought a maxi dress the other day but it is pretty heavy....maybe I'll wear it on the flight!:thumbsup2

What is it made of? Not to freak anyone out but the recomendation is to always wear natural fiber (cotton, wool, linen, etc.) on plane rides because if there was an accident and a fire man made fibers will melt to your skin - kinda like wearing a seat belt to me - most likely nothing will happen but better safe than sorry. And no PANTY HOSE!

Krisann

hi everyone

yeah happy fourth of july

I am flying in on easy jet 6.55 am should be in barcelona about 11:00 ish on 17th staying at the Adagio Hotel which is right near the port. So hopefully i can go down to the port and see the ship

now hopefully they will not can my contract before i go

:cheer2::banana:

Need some opinions:

We will get to Barcelona at 9 am - figure we will have luggage and be finished by 10 but we wil have been up since 4 am to catch our flight from Amsterdam (have to be there 2 hours early)

so question is do we:

a. rent a private transportation and have them do a 2 hour (10 - 12) tour of Barcelona and then take us to the port at 12 pm OR

b. go straight to the port

even though we were in barcelona on the EBTA we did not go into barcelona at all - long story - all we saw of it was from the ship and from the bus to the airport. Don't really want to tour anything in particular - but might like to just take a tour of the city - does that make sense?

Krisann

Noel - thanks for the recommendation on De Martini. Robert has a dr appt. at Stanford in a couple of weeks, a perfect opportunity to check them out.

We go to the Farmer's Market at Alemany. It is in the city where 101 and 280 south meet. It use to be the wholesale produce market site before they moved s. of market. We have gone to the ferry building market, which is a really fun excursion. I shop for the "dull" vegetables and Bob goes for the sexy fruit. It is the end of the cherry season. Next week we'll start seeing the melons.

Have you done the Sam's Castle tour in Pacifica? I understand they only open it to the public once a year. This year the tours are the first weekend in August.

Happy 4th. Val

Val:

I don't get up to Farmer's Market at Alemany since it is quite some distance from me but sounds like a good Farmer's Market. I love De Martini because of all the tasting we do as we shop!!

You will have to send me a PM sometime when you are going to be in the area. We can have lunch at Buck's. http://www.buckswoodside.com/ It can get crowded so I will make ressies and we can have a mini meet.

I will have to check it out as never have been to Sam's Castle. http://pacificahistory.org/castle-tour/

We used to go to the Oceana when kids were swimming meets. http://www.cityofpacifica.org/depts/rec_department/aquatics/default.asp I heard it was closed and would possibly reopen in September.

I was going to attempt to make one for the navigator but I just haven't found time to even look at the logistics of it!

John told me to volunteer him for projects. So, if you don't have time, he may be able to do one. Let me know.

I slept in this morning so I am having another lazy morning. John is still asleep. The joys of being an empty nester and having a wonderful Anniversary morning.

Krisann, Barcelona is a beautiful city that is definitely worth seeing. You should be able to see some of the major sites on a two hour van tour.

:scared1: How scary!! I'll chek it later.....Have to laugh about the panty hose though (we call them 'tights' by the way ;)) as I don't actually own any......:rolleyes1

sounds lovely to me Noel! (the lazy morning that is) :)

Dee

We might be interested in both of the tours you are scheduling. Can you give us more info, such as the cost? Thank you val & Bob

We just watched the Travel Channels special on hamburgers and hotdogs. It was so good that I am starving!

Krisann - thanks for the scary:scared1:image regarding clothes on the plane. If it comes down to that, just shoot me because I will probably be better off. I am sure a lot of my "scared to fly" friends would agree.

I think it was Hayley from Australia that said she would also have some Aussie mags. I could be wrong - we were excited that we could swap because she didn't get any of mine.

We do not have a time yet for our Topsiders dinner. We might just wait and see what the show is and decide to do it later or earlier, but if anybody else wants to chime in - go ahead:)

Noel

Meeting at Buck's sounds great. It sounds like you have a lot of wonderful knowledge about traveling in Europe. Thanks so much for sharing.

Val

Noel - Thanks for the PacSafe strap for Bob's camera. We will be looking into it ASAP. His using his new camera is one thing he most looks forward to on his trip. He is still editing and ordering some of the 1,000 plus pictures he took on our Alaska cruise last month. val

Val:

I am glad to help. We think it is a good solution for us also.

How I wish DH would take so FEW pictures. He usually takes 300-500 per day. John only edits the ones he wants to forward. We have about 1 TB worth of just pics from trips. He downloads them to his notebook computer while we are traveling. When we get home, he uploads them to one of our many, many hard drives. I am trying to convince him to buy a new 1 TB for this cruise.

Since your talking (thinking) about food --- Have you tried the dreyer's slow churned rich and creamy no sugar added triple chocolate light ice cream? I usually run from anything that says sugar free but this stuff is great. Only 110 calories a 1/2 cup, and 3.5 g of fat. Sure not homemade peach ice cream but it's chocolate and somewhat guilt free. val

I am finally caught up again. I was not too far wrong when I said that I doubted that the old thread would last beyond the end of June.

Happy 4th July to all who celebrate.

Corinna I love the second picture - think that's the Ivory one isn't it? It looks so unusual and pretty! Like the first one too though just love the detail on the second one!

I think they are both meant to be white, but as they are completely custom made, they can be made in any colour and I prefer ivory to wide. I think I am kind of leaning towards the second one as well.

Oh, I must go and have a look on Ebay. last time they only had the bigger one, and I want the smaller one. They do have another bag though, but it is quite thin and I'm not sure how much i would get in it.

I had been watching Ebay for ages and they never had this style bag. I had pretty much given up, but when I got the email from Overstock saying that they cannot confirm my order, I decided to have one last look and lucked out. I am hoping that this might arrive tomorrow.

Hey Everybody - I have not caught up yet because I was not on the boards yesterday - we received some bad news. My husband lost his job yesterday so we are in limbo. I am still on the cruise!!!

I am so sorry to hear this and hope that a new door will open for your husband soon. I am glad that you are still cruising with us.

I love both dresses. I do like the strapless style a little more. I know with wedding dresses you often have to try them on to see which style looks best on you. For my DD's wedding, she must have tried on hundreds of gowns until she found the perfect one. Just as for me, when she tried on the "perfect" dress, she know that was the "one".

Just my thoughts...

I intend to order it from Ebay again and just hope for the best. So far I have not been disappointed. My actual wedding dress was love at first sight. We had met my now mother in law in London for my birthday for a meal and a musical and then went back home with her for the weekend. We went shopping on the Saturday and she convinced me to go to one of the local department stores that had a bridal department. I wanted something very plain. I would have been mortified if anybody had suggested something as intricate as the two dresses I am considering now. The first dress I looked at was absolutely perfect.

Sarah- did you know that kiwi allergy is a cross-reaction to latex? Have you had any problems with latex? With our line of work it is so common...

I found that as a bride recently (DH told me tonight that we had been married 177 days today ) the strapless gowns are difficult to, um, not have slide down over the course of the night with dancing and everything. And I found as a bigger chested gal that they made my chest look humongous and more towards my waist than they are! I found I liked the support of straps and a place to hide bra straps if needed/wanted. Just my two cents.

I did not know that kiwi and latex allergies are linked as well. I know that banana and latex allergies are linked. Fortunately my latex allergy is fairly minor. I just get little blisters when I touch anything containing latex.

I know what you mean about strapless dresses slipping. My formal gown should be fine as it will be laced up tightly, but I have detachable clear straps for my other "strapless" dresses. Fortunately my favourite clothes store has the good sense to put little loops for detachable straps in all their strapless dresses.

Hi, we just booked this cruise! Problably too late for all the plans you guys have been making! But since we've cruised with a lot of you already, we're going to have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time!

:welcome: on board.

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself (Lynne). My husband, Terry, and I will be on the TA cruise in Sept. We anticipate a great time, and can't believe how quickly it's approaching. Looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next couple of months, as we discuss the cruise. Have been in contact with Noel, and we will be joining you on the tour in Madeira.

This will be our 2nd Disney cruise, although we have cruised other lines several times. We are big fans of all things Disney, so are eagerly awaiting the TA on the Magic....especially since it's our first time in Europe!

:welcome: on board.

The other theme night, going on what I have read, is likely to be a "Villains" night. No dressing up, but a parade in the atrium of guests wearing masks "made" earlier in the day. There is a Villains show in the theatre, and presume a Villains menu?

On the Med, we had a Villains Menu, which was rather nice. I did not bother with any of the shows last cruise, but I am planning to see Villains Tonight this time round. People did not really dress up for this, but there was a couple of mask making activities during the day and then there was a kind of fashion show after dinner.

Hi. DD and I signed up at the beginning and had to cancel. I re-booked it the other day. Last Wednesday, the 23rd, I had to have emergency eye surgery for a detached retina. Because of the procedure used, the nurses in the OR said September 16 might be too early to be allowed to fly. :confused3 Anyway, I don't know where to even begin to start reading and catching up on everything. Is it too late to participate in things and where do I find them? Please everyone, I need lots of Piixie Dust because I go to my doctor on Tuesday and hoping he'll tell me I can join everyone and be allowed to fly. Would love to see my old friends again. Actually, would love to 'see' better.

Bev

:welcome: back. Hopefully you will be given the all clear to join us next week.

Good Morning everyone. Hope you don't mind another last minute joiner. Yesterday we found this great deal on this cruise and decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity. I booked my cabin and air ticket. Now I'm in a panic. HELP

We are coming in to Barcelona on the 14th and need help deciding where to stay and what to do. We have traveled in the US and on Disney cruises but never Europe and we don't speak anything but English. Disney lovers are the best so I feel ok reaching out for your help and asking you to share your knowledge with us.

Look forward to meeting all of you and sharing the excitement of planning for this cruise. Oh, we live in San Francisco so if any of you are coming to the west coast when the Wonder is here next year we would be happy to share info about our side of the country. We just came back from an Alaska cruise and have learned so much about that beautiful state.

Bob & Val

:welcome: on board.

Nope - I don't mind at all. I do a lot of things like this at work - spreadsheets, pivot charts, power points... I can do it at the office nd no one will be any the wiser... I can also make it a pdf and post it to my photobook so people can have it ahead of time...

OK - does this work?

summaryofallswaps.jpg

This was very easy to do and it will be easy to maintain - just remember that when you pick up your list check the outside of the envelope for changes. People can put the change on the outer sheet - or leave me a phone message and we will add it to the list if that is easier.

Thanks for doing this for us.

Well, Hurricane Alex, though no longer in most peoples' minds, created havoc in the area of Mexico where our mover was planning to cross to come into the US. He was stuck in Monterrey, MX for 2 days waiting for the rain to stop and the roads to become visible again, so our move is now totally off kilter.

We've been told he's crossing today and we should expect him in L.A. in 2 days. We now expect to be on the road on Tuesday! We are back to having dinner in Phoenix the first night!

At least we haven't turned the internet/cable system off yet! We can surf, we can surf, we can surf!!!

We are surrounded by boxes and we still have a few small things to do. The good thing about packing up - we found about $400 in Disney Gift Cards that we didn't know we had! That will definitely help pay that final bill onboard!

Michael

I am sorry that the weather put a spanner in the works as far as your move is concerned. Hopefully it will go smoothly from here on in. Well done for finding the gift cards though.

Does whoever created this design have a larger format of it they could either post or email to me?

wbta_banner_sm.png

Thanks!

The design was created by Brooklyn, who was supposed to come on this cruise, but then changed to the EBTA and first Med cruise.

A lanyard pin is a pin you attach to your lanyard by pressing the pin through the lanyard and fastening in on the back. I use special pin holders to be sure the pin is safe. You can buy the fasteners where ever you buy your pins.

Here is a picture of a pin that you would attach to a lanyard.

HappyThanksgivingFigmentLE.jpg

I love this pin. I collect Figment pins, but have never seen this one before.

All going well, I have my video appointment for my custom jewellery to go with my formal dresses on Thursday. I am so excited. This has not gone entirely to plan either. I got the beads that will be used in the jewellery. I have chosen white pearls and Swarovsky crystals in various shapes in pink white and light blue. Of course, this was all planned when I thought my second dress would be blue and pink. When I got my dress, I was close to going back to the drawing board, but I decided against it in the end. I am sure it will still look lovely with the dress.

I have started sending out the PMs relating to Secret Mickey and who your recipients are. Unfortunately I am having to do this in batches because of "the hand" and so don't worry if it hasn't arrived yet .. it will in the next few days. Anyone who still needs to send me information can you do so asap.... thanks

if anyone wants to ask a question to their recipient then feel free to do it through me ... remember Secret Mickey is supposed to be a surprise until the reveal lunch, so no blabbing !!!!!

Thanks for doing this. I can't wait to see who I am giving to.

I started to get a little worried as I am planning on a few custom goodies and ideally I needed a lead time of at least three months. Somehow I had overlooked that the closing date was not supposed to be until July 1st. As soon as I get who I am sending to, I will see if this can still be done.

Corinna

It is also my plan to actually win one of the 84 dresses I am watching on Ebay today ... I keep missing out by being off the computer and forgetting about them, or they go for more than I am prepared to pay.

I hope you get something you love for a good price :thumbsup2 .

Shoes ..... yikes :scared1::scared1: Decisions decisions! Until I finalise the dresses I cannot commit on shoes. But DH is taking: trainers ( wearing to travel ) deck shoes, sandals, casual shoes for dinner and black dress shoes.
Hopefully will get heavier shoes in the hand baggage to reduce weight in the checked in cases.

Trainers...that's what we Americans call sneakers, right?

I ordered the new IPhone for that very reason. Our grandchildren are here all the time and consider this their "other" home (they live the street behind us and we can see their house from our back deck). DH watches them during the day so their parents can work. So glad he retired.:lmao:

Ours call grandma's and grandpa's house their home-away-from-home. (At 3, my older DGD said, "Well, Grandma, if we were bees, then this would be my hive-away-from-hive.")

No, I think you will not have a problem when you get onboard. There are so many sea days that it was not a roblem when we did the 2007 repo.

Good to know; we really want to do a brunch.

:cool1::cool1:Happy Fourth of July!!! :cool1::cool1:

Mickey_Patriotic.jpg

Love the image. So cute.

WOW - we're doing a medication exchange too?? :lmao:

I missed the med discussion. Can anyone clarify? Thx.

I DO travel with a pharmacy! Reminding me I need to hurry up and make an appointment with my MD to get my usual travel prescriptions that I won't use but I don't travel without. Guess that comes with being a pharmacist - I want to be prepared for everything! :thumbsup2

I'm the same way, plus we'll be in the middle of the ocean for days!

I haven't started the whole packing process yet so I have no idea :scared1: but I've been threatened that it can't be as many pairs as I took on the EBPC. Doesn't seem fair since I was only on board 15 nights then and I've got 24 nights this time. But going from having a cabin to yourself to having a roommate does make a difference, I guess. I just don't see how 19 pairs of shoes was excessive though!! :rolleyes1

Excessive? No way!

Krisann

We're also wondering if we can do some kind of touring after we get to Barcelona on Sat. am. No ideas on what to do yet though.

I slept in this morning so I am having another lazy morning. John is still asleep. The joys of being an empty nester and having a wonderful Anniversary morning.

Hope you're having a lovely anniversary weekend. And I understand there'll be fireworks for you, too! ;)
