Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.6

Same concern here.
There are some things we wanted to do- but I think we'll have to pass on this cruise.
And unfortunately our next two cruises (Alaska repo/Alaska) also won't go to CC! :( :(
if it was a present promised- i'd definitely opt for something relaxing on a sea day instead- lots of sea days to choose from on this cruise! :)

Its super early, but let me know what your plans are for San Francisco. I can help with suggestions or maybe even join you.

.
Called DCL Castaway Club number. I was told you have to have COMPLETED 5 cruises to be gold and 10 to be platinum. Knowing good old DCL, the next person to call will get a different answer!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Yes, thus my concern about whether or not I'd be able to book the Fantasy if the bookings are opened up to Gold and Platinum members during our cruise. Doesn't hurt to ask, but I'll be very bummed if I can't.

However, we are booked in the Walt Suite for that cruise. So does becoming Platinum has an advantage for that cruise.:confused3 Right? Do Platinum and Conceriege all get to book shore excursions at the same time? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm not 100% sure, but I thought Platinum and Concierge have the same booking windows. But remember starting in 2011 the OBCs for rebooked cruises increase based on your CC status, so I think you'd get a higher OBC if you were platinum than if you were Gold. You'd also get a free Palo dinner as Platinum that you won't get as gold or concierge.

So after MANY MANY hours of feeling like a total bum sitting in front of this computer I have finally read at least this "chapter" of the thread now. (If there was anything important in chapters 1-5 I will assume Johanna would have told me about it.)

Introductions for those who don't know me yet: (or you can wait until the icebreakers in the RBD - apparently I was pretty good at introducing myself there last time)... :cool1: I'm Kimberly. But to avoid the Sarah/Ann/Lynn/Linda confusion you can call me Kimmy and Buckeye Gal can stay Kimberly. :hippie: I sailed with some of these pirates in 2008 on the EBPC and that's where I met my roommate for this trip. And all I can say is thank GOD she's more organized than me and helps keep me on track!! We're doing Palo brunch & dinner and got all the excursions we wanted because she has stayed on top of it!! :worship: Works great cause I'm just here to go with the flow...

Look forward to trying to stay up with this thread from now on and look forward to meeting those of you I don't know yet.

John and I are thinking of doing a private tour in Gibralter to Pillars of Hercules, St Michaels Cave, Highest Point with Barbary and Apes and Great Siege Tunnels. Does anyone want to join us?

Thanks - I think we are leaning toward the longer tour. Will confirm with Kimmy. Also, If we want to do the wine tasting we need to sign that up on our own right via their website as that is not part of Daniel's tour?

Kimmy and I might. We are planning on doing Gibraltar on our own. Just interested in doing the cable car (if not too busy) and do the Siege Tunnels and St. Michaels cave, and figure we will see the apes as well doing those 2 things.

If you and Kimmy want to do the wine tasting, individual tasting ressies should be made at Old Blandy's at 4:30 PM. Here is the website: http://www.symingtonfamilyestates.com/winelodge/book_tours.htm
it is an additional 5 Euros per person and you make your own ressies on the site.

Let me know if you are interested in the private tour. If we get a few more besides the four of us, I will inquire about special pricing. I got a rate which was a bit high but it included all the admissions and transportation to and from the ship.

See, I told you Johanna is on top of it... lovin' the special tours!!:thumbsup2

Welcome aboard Kimmy!! I can see that Johanna is on top of all of your cruise plans!!

Welcome Kimmy.

It is amazing to me how many folks I cruised with on the 2007 WBRepo and the EBPCRepo and do not know any of them. This cruise I am staying out of the laundry room and I am going to work on not being shy. Maybe I will start each day off with the drink of the day so I am relaxed.;)

Just stopped by to ramble. Now off to bed.

Off topic, but do we have any DISers from the Chicago area?

Have you checked out our Global Google Map yet? I know not everyone has put their info on there, but I do seem to recall at one point that there was a couple just north of Chicago. Maybe that was you! :rotfl2: Nonetheless, it's certainly good to ask here!

Thanks!! We just used it to order our Mickey shirts!!....

Awesome! I'm so thrilled it went to good use!

..... was surprised to see that I have 110 days on board. I can't wait to add another 14 days!

:thumbsup2

Is that not why we booked the WBTA just to get back those hours! If they leave on the Magic - they should be returned on the Magic :) ....

LOL - Do you ever unpack? You are my travel hero!

:lmao: Well I'm glad you're gaining back the hours of your life that you lost, Krisann! Also, great question to Woody! I've wondered the same!

.... I'm Kimberly. But to avoid the Sarah/Ann/Lynn/Linda confusion you can call me Kimmy and Buckeye Gal can stay Kimberly. :hippie: I sailed with some of these pirates in 2008 on the EBPC and that's where I met my roommate for this trip.....

Glad you made an appearance, Kimmy! You know, if you prefer to be called Kimberly, I can be Buckeye Kimberly or OH (Ohio) Kimberly, and you can be Tar Heels Kimberly! :lmao:

I think it's awesome that you found such a great travel companion years ago! I've made so many special friendships with DISers, so I know you no doubt cherish yours!

Looking to confirm the final 4 Pineapples!!
  1. NoWorriesMate
  2. Acourtwdw
  3. Maxs GM
  4. PeterPanStout
Also - Tru - can you conform the addition of 'R'?

If you guys can all confirm I would appreciate it!

Thanks,
Sue

Hi Sue,

I am confirming R for the Pineapple group. Thanks...Tru

(Pant, pant, whew...just caught up w/the thread; had my DGD2 w/me since Wednesday and she is very high-maintenance. Always assuming I don't want anything I cherish destroyed ;) .)

There will be a big meet in the Rockin D Bar and the purse line!!! I think I'll be in the purse line and Terry will be in the brunch line...:love::love::love:

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but what is the scoop on the purses?

John and I are thinking of doing a private tour in Gibralter to Pillars of Hercules, St Michaels Cave, Highest Point with Barbary and Apes and Great Siege Tunnels. Does anyone want to join us?

Are you still open for more? I'd love to go (just need to convince DH).

I'm told that if you stay away from the busloads of organized tours, there's seldom any wait.

There is a "SkyWalk Combo" that includes:

•Cable Car ticket (options single or return and child or adult)
•Multimedia Tour (hand held guide included in adult ticket only and for use exclusively within the Cable Car Top Station)
•Apes (The apes are wild animals and roam freely throughout the Upper Rock area. However they are usually seen at both the Cable Car Top and Middle Station otherwise known as Apes Den.)
•Nature Reserve entrance ticket - Entrance to: St Michael's Cave, Great Siege Tunnels, City Under Siege Exhibition, Moorish Castle and 100 Ton Gun. (this ticket must be redeemed at the Cable Cart ticket office BEFORE entering any of the sights.) The Nature Reserve ticket must be used on the same day as the Cable Car ticket, see below.)
•FREE Gibraltar Bus Pass (adult or child one day bus pass). This must be collected from the Gibraltarinfo kiosk on the Spanish side of the Gibraltar/Spanish land frontier.

The cost is £17.50 for adults (£19.00 if you want to take the cable car back down, which we won't be doing because of where we're walking).

I need to check on the bus pass, since we won't be going to the land frontier.

That sounds so fantastic.

ATTENTION ALL DANIEL TAXI MADERIA TOUR CRUISERS:
Hey gang, here is the latest email on our trip. Seems like they can accommodate all of us and more. If anyone has any more questions, please ask away!!!

Hello Noel,

Thank you so much for the 60 Euro payment you sent me. I finalized the transaction already and all is ok. Thank you for the cute “Thank you” card too.

Nice to know so many people are interested in taking the tour with you. Yes you can accept everybody and even more. We can provide more 15 passenger vans than 16 passenger ones and in order not to split the couples, we’ll accommodate 14 people in each one. In case you have any solo cruisers, they can complete a 15 passenger van. We also provide 8 passenger vans and depending on your total number of people we can use them as well.

Yes, we customize itineraries whenever our clients have their own preferences. If you or your group have any ideas, please let me know.

For large groups we book the restaurant beforehand and, in the morning, the driver talks to the clients about the different options in the menu, so that everybody decides what they’d like to eat. The driver then calls the restaurant to place the order in advance and when the group arrives, lunch is served straight away, which is very convenient and avoids any waste of time. Please make sure everybody understands that lunch is being paid extra. Sometimes people don’t pay all due attention and then they feel annoyed when they discover that the meal is not included in our price.

I’m not quite sure what a tapas lunch is, but maybe you mean a light meal, right? In a previous e-mail I mentioned “espada” which is a very popular fish in Madeira. It’s not too heavy, but if you prefer something more on the light side, maybe you’d rather have, for instance a soup and sandwich. Anyway, the restaurant caters for everything, so it’ll be up to each and every person to choose whatever they feel like having.

Now… Dee Judson. I’m thinking I’m going to resend her my message again and see what happens. Yes, maybe she’d like to join your group. She’s coming in a 6 people group, they’re interested in the West tour, plus wine tasting at Blandy’s, in the end.

I’m so pleased to know everybody is so enthusiastic about their Madeira tour.

Best wishes,

Eusébia.

Is this the same group as above? Sorry for my confusion (goes w/the geezerness, I think).

I'll be there ... wanted brunch more than dinner really .... hope we get lucky :wizard:

Seems like there'll be a whole lot of DISers on that Palo brunch line.

Noel - I really like Frank Sinatra and I am 42, but I also like Aerosmith and Bon Jovi so I am flexible - not to mention the sexy Toby Keith for country. You are definitely not ancient!

For a geezer, I have unusual taste in music (One eskimO, MuteMath, Radiohead...yeah, I know).

I received an email today for $10 off a $10 purchase with Zazzle.com. So if you haven't purchased your Mickey Mouse Club T-shirts yet (see Post #1), feel free to use the coupon code!

I don't know if the code can only be used once or not.

Use Code: IBUPLRYLHEGIUJIFIPKB
Expires Tuesday, June 22 at 11:59pm PDT

Thank you so much! That'll help.

Maybe I will start each day off with the drink of the day so I am relaxed.;)

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Krisann and Kimberly,

We are adding pre- and post-cruise travel to the WBTA, for a total vacation of eight weeks.

We'll unpack one day.

Woody

You, sir, are a vacation god :worship::worship: .

Daniel Taxi is in Madeira. If you are interested, please send me PM and I will tell you all the details and add you to the list.

I have not made firm plans in Gibraltar. Will keep you posted.

Hey, Mom. I have my Chip an Dale autographed photo on the fridge here. :rotfl:

Pj

:lmao:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I like Frank Sinatra music so I must be in the Ancient category!!

Glenn Miller and Ricky Skaggs. :goodvibes And ZZ Top We listen to all kinds of stuff at our house.

That was easy. I just logged in and looked. Awesome. This makes 9 DCL cruises for us and Alaska is #10. However, we are booked in the Walt Suite for that cruise. So does becoming Platinum has an advantage for that cruise.:confused3 Right? Do Platinum and Conceriege all get to book shore excursions at the same time? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, Platinum books at the same time as Conceriege.
Okay, I am finally caught up! Welcome to all the newbies. I did not see Toy Story 3, I am saving myself for the cruise. I hate to cry in public so if I go to the theatre, maybe I can hide!!!
!
Dennis said the same, he doesn't want to cry in public! I told him I'll just bring lots of tissue and not to worry about it.

As I understand, the VAT is charged on all goods and services in a given country. You can get a VAT refund on goods purchased and taken out of a country.

There is no VAT refund on food consumed or services provided.

Stores set minimum purchase amounts. The minimum for a VAT refund at Marks & Spencer was 75 GBP. You have to bring your passport (some stores also require your travel documents showing you are leaving the country).

I don't know if there will be a VAT refund desk at the Barcelona port.

YMMV

Woody

So, this VAT.....we prepaid for flamenco show/dinner. Are they going to add a VAT when we go, or is it included in the quoted price??? Oh, so much to learn for this country girl. :sad2: We don't even have a sales tax in MT. It costs what it costs here. :)

Shall I ask Sharon? I think we just take our email copies which say paid in full.

Or in Spanish, Tambien remunerado todo. If that is incorrect Spanish, will someone correct me?

Welcome aboard!! I am not sure which bus you mean. I think you can still get a lanyard as I think Erik has some that are still available.

I am glad too!! I immediately tucked that address away for a special occasion! See. Yes. You are right. I'm always thinking about others. :) Maybe it's the Libra in me. :confused3

Tiffany (Gradysmommy) is amazing with her talent and has a sweet, fun personality! We sailed with her nearly two years ago. She's one of those special gems with a heart of gold! I just love it when I look at cabin door pictures and videos and see fish extenders that she's made for people. She's really become the FE queen of the seas! Do you like the pillow cases? What characters did you get on them?

At our DIS meets, Tiffany approached me with a big hug and thank you. She then handed over to me this beautiful large light pink lined tote with turquoise and brown hibiscus flowers on it that she made for me.....just because. That's just how she is! It's going with me on this cruise, so you'll see it! It just ever so discretely has miniatures Minnies and dotted hidden Mickey heads on it. She made one for herself, too, so there were times we were walking around the ship with the same bag!! She and her family were booked on this cruise with us, but they had to change their plans last summer. I was so disappointed that they switched to another cruise, but lucky them, they got to do a B2B and managed to surprise the kids with the second cruise until after they got disembarked from the first leg of their adventure! You would have loved her! Hopefully you will get a chance to meet her some day!

I have one of her FE's too!! She did it to my vague instructions on how i wanted it to look and it is perfect! :woohoo:
Bella's pillowcase has Minnie Mouse, who else, she lives, eats and breaths Minnie! Lucy has Ariel, She loves Alice but Tiffany didn't have any Alice pictures so we went 2nd favourite. They've both seen them and love them. :thumbsup2
Tiffany sounds like an awesome lady, I even got that vibe from our short e-mail communication, What a pity we're not cruising together, I would love to meet her. Oh well, I have lots of other friends I am looking forward to meeting, Like you! :flower3:

Introductions for those who don't know me yet: (or you can wait until the icebreakers in the RBD - apparently I was pretty good at introducing myself there last time)... :cool1: I'm Kimberly. But to avoid the Sarah/Ann/Lynn/Linda confusion you can call me Kimmy and Buckeye Gal can stay Kimberly. :hippie:

Welcome Kimmy, Looks like your all under control and don't need any instructions on stuff to sign up for. :thumbsup2
I am Hayley, We are from Australia, I will be travelling with my DH, Terry and 2 DD's Lucy and Bella. :goodvibes

Glad you made an appearance, Kimmy! You know, if you prefer to be called Kimberly, I can be Buckeye Kimberly or OH (Ohio) Kimberly, and you can be Tar Heels Kimberly! :lmao:

No, no, no. Just trying to help out the economy.

Good onya Woody! Your a national hero! ;)

Hi Steffi, Welcome. We seem to like multiples here, we have 3 Sarah's, numerous Lyns, Lynnes and Linda's, a couple of Kimberleys, and now 2 Steffi's!!! Good Luck keeping up, I don't work and my kids go to school and I still fall behind. :confused3
