Also FYI, with respect to booking shore excursions, I spoke with DCL about canceling shore excursions. DCL said that if you cancel within 3 days before the cruise date to cancel the excursion. If not and you don't take the excursion, you will be charged.

I am glad to have this info as I may tentatively book a few excursions which I may cancel later if the timing doesn't work out for us.

He was a great Dad!! We lost him in 2005 to complications from his COPD.

When I was growing up, we never bought tv's, he built Heathkits. When one of us wanted new furniture, we would bring my dad a picture and he would build it. If my mother wanted a new chandelier, my dad made it. If a car wouldn't run, my dad would fix it. If an appliance broke, my dad fixed it. I still have their original 1954 Philco refrigerator and it still runs!!

I remember going to his retirement party and hearing these words, "When you ask Walter Johnson if it can be made and he says, yes, it can, it will be made. He can make something in one hour without plans that most men would take eight hours with plans."

John and I are going to his grave tomorrow to place flowers for Father's Day. We are going today to place flowers on my sisters grave as it is her birthday today. She would have been 54 today and lies next to my parents.
Your dad sounds wonderful. I too will be going to my fathers' grave tomorrow for father's day. Today I went by the Air Force Memorial and printed out the tribute written about him from their Roll Call of Heros. I had to fight back the tears while I was around all the people at the memorial, but as soon as I got to the car I had a good cry. I miss him a lot and I too did not realize how much he had done until his retirement party and then his funeral. I am proud to be his daughter.

Oh THANK YOU for asking! :worship:

Great to know you can cancel. I need to go rearrange my booking priorities now!.....

I couldn't have said it better. My father never talked about his service in WW2 or his medals. We only found them and his commendations after his death. He came from a generation who did their duty without complaint and never spent time bragging about their accomplishments.

Just checked our online reservation and noted that our Cat 7 GTY status has been updated to an actual number! I'll be updating the roll call with our number!

Not sure if this got kicked up early as they ended up reshopping my category to throw a few dollars back on the credit card so that the fuel surcharge went away....hmmmmm....

You are welcome. I thought the original post was not clear as to when 3 day time period kicked in so I edited the previous post to be super clear that she said 3 days before the cruise date. If anyone has any different info from DCL please let me know.

Okay, I'm going to stop PMing folks and just ask. Back a ton of pages ago someone asked about arriving in Barcelone and doing the taxi tour that Kimberley posted.

Terry and I are arriving on Friday at 8:30 am and would love to share the taxi tour with someone. I keep pming people embarassing myself asking if they are the ones that asked for other people to share the tour. I don't know if they have 6 already or not. Somebody help me and put me out of my misery.:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks!

I previously posted that I was thinking about looking into the private tour in Barcelona...however, we are arriving on Saturday at 7:55 a.m. Not sure if I am the one you were thinking of or not.

I am going to try to obtain some information about the private tour but we're not sure if we are going to do that or just do the hop-on hop-off bus when we arrive.

You're welcome. I do believe its all Capital One cards.

:car: Congrats to Ruby!! :woohoo: :car:

Mom and dad....ummm...congrats to you, too :confused3 :)
Thanks!
And Thanks...
And....... um, no congrats to us! Unless you're conratulating us on the new gray hairs we got overnight it seems. haha

ISome of the transfers came through with fees. Largest was $2.59, smallest was $0.70. Total is less than $10, so at this point I am dealing with it.
Oh no!
I sent pymt before reading this.
that's the first time I've sent a personal transfer and i only did it because you requested it that way. I hope you don't get charged for our pymt! :(

OK - I think I know what the problem is! You actually enter yourself into roll call on the new website. If you go out to www.transatlanticpirates.com and then click roll call, then click on roll call signup to add a new entry. Fill out the form and save/submit (I can't remember what it is called).

To edit, go out to www.transatlanticpirates.com and then click roll call, then click on roll call update. Enter our DIS name and the password you set up when you signed up. Try Mickey if you don't recall putting a password in - at one point we had set a default and I think that is still in place.

Then, after you are signed up send us a photo!! (photos@transatlanticpirates.com)
just quoting this so I can find the info later. haha

Unfortunately pay pal change there polices about a year ago. The only way to send free money any more is sending it as a gift and from the bank account. This way sending it as a gift and it is funded by a credit card the sender pay the fees.
oh great.......... :( :(

I have just remembered I have came to work and have forgoten to do my Dads fathers day card:confused:
Oh well, Len will have to do it.(fathers day in the uk tom)

Interesting that we share Father's Day with the UK, but I believe we have different Mother's Day. Just thinking today. :)
I am so glad you posted this info. I called DCL and confirmed that you are correct. For whatever reason, I had it in my head that it was tomorro night!!

I would have missed the boat, literally!!

Whew!!! And THAT is one reason we love the DIS. :disrocks:

It is isn't it? Our Mother's Day is historically half way between the start of Lent and Easter, so changes by a few weeks. I think father's day is a more recent invention which we probably just copied from you!!!

Thanks!

Okay....I just found something I found hilarious on the DCL website!

Snorkel at Norman Island

Additional Information:

  • Bottled water is provided.
  • Life vests are included and compulsory for all Guests.
  • Snorkel, mask and fins are provided.
  • Water included. :rotfl2:

That just strikes me funny.....and I haven't even been drinking spirits!

Okay. I take it back! :rotfl:

9:00 PM on Saturday June 19, 2010. I plan on signing on a few minutes early and then refresh.

I sent it about half hour ago

I thought it was midnight tonight (12:00 am est)

Me too. Sunday, June 20 is T-90, and the time is based on EDT. So that would be 9:00 pm PDT on Saturday, June 19 for the USA west coasters.

In other words....7 hours and 55 minutes from now!

Thanks guys!!! For some reason I thought it was midnight! Being in Cali I would have been 3 hours late too!!

I can't wait to see what we get but at the same time, I'm just not ready to commit. :rotfl:

I guess it's back to my research and planning frenzy....

DH and I are frantically going over our last minute choices. I say if you are on the fence, you might as well book at as you know the old adage, he who hesitates is lost!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

One those oxymoron statements that both DH and I found hilarious!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Ebony, good advice.

Where and how did it happen?

Woody

One of them happened at the Magic Fountain. The person remembered being bumped into, then realised a short time after, that her purse/wallet had been stolen. She was wearing a pac safe bag, but it hadnt been done up properly.

I am not sure where the other person had there purse/wallet pick pocketed (sp) just know it was in Barcelona before the cruise.

Lynne, I tend to go over the top as well. I don't get a chance to really dress up often, so when I can I do!!

I don't get much chance either, so I love buying and taking nice clothes to wear on the cruise too.

Yes, I do agree Scotland is a tad far to go for a fitting. However, people are ordering from China...maybe she should advertise on Ebay. Sounds like a good way to make money if you have the talent. So few people I know can sew. Just a thought.

If you are interested in the pattern, I could forward you the link. What I like about the pattern is that it would look well on any body style.
[/QUOTE}]

I can sew but i'm living not in America, and i think sewing for a other person is to expensive. Because when you must pay the hours then you better can buy a dress, only when you let it make in China.

Goodluck whit finding somebody who can make it for you.

Connie
