Sorry, I have been offline for a couple weeks and spent all day catching up on posts. I noticed the Formal Nights have continued to be a topic of discussion. I noticed the new list from concierge showed formal nights on day 3 and 8, semi on 13, theme on 7 and pirate on 9. On May 22, 2010, I posted the results of my call to Disney Reservations (Cindy) of formal nights on day 2 and 7, semi 13, theme on 8 and pirate on 11.

So I called today to make a dinner rotation request (LAPLAP…) and also asked to confirm the dates of formal nights which I had been given in May. And guess what? I spoke to Carlos and he advised : the formal 3, 8, semi 13(at least that doesn’t change), theme on 7 and pirate on 9. WHAT !!!!! I asked if there had been a change from the dates I was given in May and Carlos said he had no way of knowing, but these were what is scheduled as of today.

I asked to speak to a manager and was connected to Melissa. I explained to Melissa that I was given other dates back in May (just a couple weeks ago) and asked if the computer noted a change from prior dates and she also said there is no way to tell, other than what it is showing today. Melissa apologized for the confusion and then pointed out that “they” could change it again (and again) as we are still three months away from departure. To make things worse, Melissa pointed out that even the ports of call could change too.

I asked who the “They” were and she said multiple departments work together to set the formal, semi, theme and pirate nights. She advised that changes in entertainment , ports, port times, and other issues all effect the special nights.

So as of today, that is the story. This of course does not explain why mdwoodman (6-5-10 post) got an email from Disney with the old dates I was given in May. What I get from this is “things can change”. I too, will make my plans with the best info I have at the time and make changes later, if needed.

I think Im going to make it easy for me... bring 2 formals and 2 semi formals, pirate costume and watch for the navigator to post what day it is!
Im known to over pack EVERYTHING! so Im ready Oh and only 8 pairs of shoes are coming along this time

My A/C went out last night it was 97 at 11pm and 81 inside by midnight So here I sit with the outside is a whopping 96 at 10am. The A/C guy due "any time between 9 and noon!" Thank goodness I made a ton of popcycles for the grandkids...something cold to enjoy. And the fur babies like them too

The actress who plays her mother is Edina Menzel. She sung on Broadway as the "Green Witch" in Wicked. She is also married to Taye Diggs. They were in Rent together, and he is on Private Practice (ABC-US). Yes, she has an incredible voice.

I saw here in Wicked in London when it first opened - actually opening weekend - and she was fantastic! Only issue was she didn't fly as the the mechanics weren't fixed up yet but all fab!

OK all I got confirmation from DCL re the new dates as well so at least all sources seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet now!

14-Night Transatlantic Westbound Cruise
*Nights 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14: cruise casual
*Nights 3 & 8: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit;
for women: gown or dress
*Night 7: "theme night"
*Night 9: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
*Night 13: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

Are they sure? You should see the list I wrote out. There are that many 'formal' nights down, crossed out, added again, crossed out, and now about to be changed back again!

I really thought we had settled on the one with Days 2 and 7 being Formal!! Ah well. We wait and see what happens. The only thing certain is semi-formal night!!

wel, I've changed our spread sheet yet again.....we'll see when get onboard I guess! (that's 102 days btw)

One of my friends just sent me a forward and said it was a huge dead snake found in Florida. Like a dummy I clicked on it - it was a huge snake, but when it gets to the head, it isn't dead and bites the camera. I hope I am able to sleep tonight. I hate forwards!!!

The pretzel M & M's are really good too!!

Coconut M & Ms ... never heard of those but they sound rather yummy .... here we only see peanut ones and plain chocolate ones.

When we did our last cruise with the kids we had a proper DD Day party with a cake and everything, but this time we feel mean because the kids aren't coming, so we won't have a party but I'm sure I will have a fuzzy warm feeling all day

Since we are arriving in Barcelona the day of the cruise (arrive 7:55 a.m.), we are hoping to do the hop-on hop-off bus tour. Does anyone know how long of a walk it is from Terminal C to the Columbus statue? Or how long the bus tour is?

We did the Hop On Hop Off tour (blue route) and I think if we had not got off at one point, it probably would have taken about 2.5 hours. With a stop to ride the cable car on Montjuic, it took just over three.

You cannot walk from the Columbus Monument to Terminal C. We took the port shuttle, which cost two Euro per person and even that took about 10 minutes to get to the ship. It really is a long way.

BARCELONA - You can't walk from the Columbus Statue to Terminal C! It really is not a walking route! There is no path and it is busy with lorries etc! I would definatley not recommend it. Last time DCL did provide a bus from Terminal C to the Columbus Statue free of charge!

They did not offer a free bus when we went to our port for the Med cruise, but the port shuttle was inexpensive and quite frequent.

That was me talking about skirtinis etc and not being able to get the nice US ones over here. I haven't managed to find one yet, or swimdress, but will do some serious looking in a few weeks. I usually have to try plenty of swimsuits on just to find one, so I'm not expecting things to be easy.

I know it's daring to buy one on the internet, but if you find one or more and need an intermediary for shipping, I would be happy to help you.

I saw that those just came out. I'm not sure if I would like them or not....although I do not chocolate. I'll eat it, but rarely seek it out. If I'm going to get some, my preference is dark chocolate, only second to white chocolate, which as we know, isn't really chocolate!

I did try those when they came out as a limited edition last summer, and they WERE good. I heard they were coming out as a standard, but haven't seen them yet.

I was at NCState in Raliegh for the year. It was the first year in about 50 they had snow too so we had a week of National Emergency while I was there!

My son went to school there during a terrible snow storm of 99 He was out of school a week too.

You can also get vocation-based degrees .... for example I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Midwifery degree.

OMG I would have screamed. Someone sent me something like that at work. Not cool. I laugh now, but at the time I had to change my knickers.


FORMAL NIGHT PLAN I have just decided I am going to wear a gown every night and that way I will always be prepared. I will wear a patch for pirate night, pearls for semi formal and a tiara for the "official" formal night. Maybe I can find the light weight crinkle kind so that packing will be a breeze Problem solved!

That is so very kind of you, but I am sure I would have a problem finding one of them to fit, so might be difficult to organise. I found where they supposedly sell the It Figures swimsuits in Orlando, so perhaps at least I can look AFTER the cruise. I don't hang around in my swimsuit onboard, and would probably only need one for Castaway Cay day. They do have some lovely ones on that website.

Because I just logged in for the first time in 5 days and there was something like 900 pages (well Maybe in exaggerating just a little) to catch up on….. so I admit it I skipped 40 or so….. There we go, I feel better for coming clean and admitting it.

I’m now so far out of the loop I can no longer even see the loop!!!

Oh and in case you're wondering i've been at Alton Towers. (thats a large roller coaster park for all of you who have never heard of it)
