I'm a bad boy and you can all feel free to point and laugh at me on-board! :)

Because I just logged in for the first time in 5 days and there was something like 900 pages  (well Maybe in exaggerating just a little) to catch up on….. so I admit it I skipped 40 or so….. There we go, I feel better for coming clean and admitting it.

I’m now so far out of the loop I can no longer even see the loop!!!

Sorry if I missed anything important.

but i'm back....

Oh and in case you're wondering i've been at Alton Towers. (thats a large roller coaster park for all of you who have never heard of it)

SW

Hi SW. Did you have a good weekend then at Alton Towers? It must be 10 years since we have been so I guess it will have changed somewhat.

Since we are arriving in Barcelona the day of the cruise (arrive 7:55 a.m.), we are hoping to do the hop-on hop-off bus tour. Does anyone know how long of a walk it is from Terminal C to the Columbus statue? Or how long the bus tour is?

Sorry I always seem to have so many questions! I really appreciate the knowledge everyone shares!!:cheer2:

BARCELONA - You can't walk from the Columbus Statue to Terminal C! It really is not a walking route! There is no path and it is busy with lorries etc! I would definatley not recommend it. Last time DCL did provide a bus from Terminal C to the Columbus Statue free of charge!

Agree - not walkable. I tried in 2007. I could not find the "shuttle" from the Columbus Monument. So thought we would walk. My father wanted to kill me. We got as far as the road that goes over the water to the cruise terminal (which took over 30 minutes to walk) then hailed a taxi for the rest of the way.

Yes it really has, i tend to take a trip there every couple of years to see the new stuff. But after a few hours walking round i tend to remember that it takes me about the same length of time to take the train to Disneyland Paris.;)

Yes, Taye Diggs lived in Rochester for part of his childhood and all of his adolescence (although he wasn't born here). He is a graduate of "School of the Arts" which is a public high school in the Rochester City School District with a fine arts focus.....you can think of it kind of as Rochester's version of the school in the musical/movie/tv-show "Fame"-----the school is open to all students grades 6 through 8 (I think) but beginning in their 9th grade year they all have to be accepted to a fine arts focus like acting, singing, dancing, an instrument, etc. I work with lots of kids through my LGBTQ youth group who are students there and it's a pretty wonderful school (also only about 8 blocks from my house and office)! He also went to college in upstate New York at Syracuse University I think. He comes back now and then for benefits and shows and things to support the school---and I actually was in a production here locally with one of his vocal coaches from high school, too---but, sadly, to date he has never brought Idina with him. (I'm infatuated big time with Idina...LOL...I simply adore her. I saw her in Wicked on Broadway 8 times before she left the run----I've seen the show itself 19 times total----and I own every CD she's ever recorded, as well!)

Coconut M & Ms ... never heard of those but they sound rather yummy .... here we only see peanut ones and plain chocolate ones.

If I have room in the luggage - you will see a package in your FE!:cool1: I know I will have room, so expect one in your FE - how is that!!:thumbsup2

We fly out on the 16th .... does that make it our DD day today and OMG I missed it .... NO WAY. Off to check out diary and work this out for sure :confused3

I have studied my diary in great detail and I am very excited to announce that today we have 100 days until we leave for Barcelona and that makes DD Day oficially tomorrow :cool1::cool1::cool1:

DOH! :rolleyes1 I can't count (and am easily confused) Sarah! lol...ok .....dd day for us Thursday then......:thumbsup2

FORMAL NIGHT PLAN I have just decided I am going to wear a gown every night and that way I will always be prepared. I will wear a patch for pirate night, pearls for semi formal and a tiara for the "official" formal night. Maybe I can find the light weight crinkle kind so that packing will be a breeze:thumbsup2 Problem solved!:woohoo:

love that....great idea! :thumbsup2

I LOVE coconut anything, they had a limited edition yonken or whatever it is coconut yohgurt, mmmmmmm
When we did our last cruise with the kids we had a proper DD Day party with a cake and everything, but this time we feel mean because the kids aren't coming, so we won't have a party but I'm sure I will have a fuzzy warm feeling all day :thumbsup2
Thats a great idea, any excuse for a party.
My son went to school there during a terrible snow storm of 99 He was out of school a week too.

Okay, I realize that their days when I may not have all synapses firing. Today was clearly one of those days. I just realized there are two Sarahs on this board. I was so confused for a minute,:confused3 them embarrassed thinking I was calling the other Sarah by the wrong name. I am good now:thumbsup2

OMG I would have screamed. Someone sent me something like that at work. Not cool. I laugh now, but at the time I had to change my knickers.

Me thinks you have yourself a plan.:thumbsup2
That is so very kind of you, but I am sure I would have a problem finding one of them to fit, so might be difficult to organise. I found where they supposedly sell the It Figures swimsuits in Orlando, so perhaps at least I can look AFTER the cruise. I don't hang around in my swimsuit onboard, and would probably only need one for Castaway Cay day. They do have some lovely ones on that website.
LAst cruise I ordered loads of swimmies and underwear from simply be, I think I ordered around 300 quid worth of stuff, I kept about 100,it was free postage back, just drop it off at post office, It was much nicer trying it all on at home rather than in a changing room. They have so much nice stuff for "my" size.:rolleyes1

For anyone else who's lazy like myself and doesn't want to count days on paper, here's the site I depend on:

http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

Note the various tabs under "Calendar" across the top, too. You can count down to the hour, or even add or subtract days from a date to help with milestone dates for ressies. The World Clock comes in handy at times as well. :)

Great to see you posting again, SW! How fun! I hadn't heard of Alton Towers, but I bet it was a grand time!

I love alton towers, where did you stay, weve stayed on site once, it was great, a long time ago now though!

I love oblivion "dont look down":scared1:......... as if:lmao:

We did the Hop On Hop Off tour (blue route) and I think if we had not got off at one point, it probably would have taken about 2.5 hours. With a stop to ride the cable car on Montjuic, it took just over three.

You cannot walk from the Columbus Monument to Terminal C. We took the port shuttle, which cost two Euro per person and even that took about 10 minutes to get to the ship. It really is a long way.

They did not offer a free bus when we went to our port for the Med cruise, but the port shuttle was inexpensive and quite frequent.

Maybe they don't allow cruiselines to charter their own any more!

LOL Did you have fun in AT????

My heart goes out to Heather and her family in this difficult time; such sad news.

THANK YOU for providing this information so quickly! I really appreciate it; hopefully it will help us decide which excursions to do. Is anyone else doing more than one excursion at a port? I saw that some people do one excursion and then do some touring on their own. Does anyone know if it is easy to walk from the port to do some touring in Gibraltar or Madeira ?

The Columbus Statue is maybe a five minute walk from the stop in front of the Grand Marina Hotel for the hop on hop off bus. There are some wonderful outdoor restaurants on the water near the statue that are not very expensive. It is not walkable to the ship.

After years of wearing the typical brown, bronze color glasses, I finally broke down and got the burgundy colored glasses three years ago. Then this year, I got the new blue ones. I figured at my age, I needed to be a cool grandma or Omi as the kids call me.:goodvibes

I've stayed both on and off-site before, This time we stayed in Stoke on Trent about 30 mins from the park. We'd kinda left booking to the last minute so onsite was pretty pricey,

oh and i'm going on this amazing cruise in September that's soaking up all my spare cash ;) so we decided to save a bit on this trip.
