This is VERY scary! I am making sure I pack EVERY medication I own - just in case. That is horrible what happened to your DD. Congrats! on the 25 years! My DH and I celebrate 17 years on July 24th! I think we will have lots of fun couples to play Match Your Mate!!! That is always good for a laugh.

Noel - I am glad you said something - we all need to know especially since we all seem to have some type of health issue, and I say that with the utmost love and smiles. Scary or not, it is good to know since we will be smack dab in the middle of the ocean for 5 days!!!

Glad you were a persistent mother. I would have done the samre thing!

Thank you for the congrats and congrats to you in return.

I only posted DD's story to caution people that these Doctor's are fine for minor things but don't seem to have good diagnostic skills.

Just my thoughts....

As much I really do feel your pain right now, Thank-you for this post. Let me explain......I have 6 gallbladder tumours and am having some troubles with them and gallbladder sludge at the moment. I had a bad attack last week and the doctor wants me to have it taken out. I haven't had any major problems for 6 months, but I was eating bad. :sad2: Anyway, I chose NOT to have it taken out right now, as If I eat well and look after myself (I see a naturopath) I am mostly pain free. I have read so much about people having just as much pain, loose bowel movements and nausea after the surgery, So why would I undergo surgery if nothing is going to change? I don't have stones so there minimal chances of the tumours dislodging, Otherwise I would probably have it taken out.
I truly hope you get some relief soon, My naturopath put me onto a website that has some great info, Especially about Diet, There are definitely foods that set me off (coffee, more than 3 alcoholic drinks, excessive dairy, nuts!), It may be worth looking at. If you think the surgery is worth it, please give me you opinion, TIA.
http://www.gallbladderattack.com/

DOn't wait too long - I waited a whole year thinking I could take care of it myself. Last attack was so severe I begged the doc to let me die. I'd rather give birth naturally to 8 kids than one attack. I recovered fairly easy but need to stay away from raw onions and lots of peanuts (which I don't like) but almonds are my favorite and funny thing is now I can eat them w/o any problems. Wish you luck in whatever decision you decide to do. But really don't let it get too dangerous.

Small world again for the second time tonight. My late sister Karen and her family used to live in Diamond Bar which I think is about 10 miles or so from you. I used to fly into Ontario to visit her.

Sam, my DD was accepted into UCSB but ultimately chose USD. She really like the campus at UCSB but the programs at USD suited her better.

Yup - ♫ Its a Small World after all. ..♫

Did you nt wonder why it was mainly MEN queuing for the bra sale????;):rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

That's the funny thing - it was actually both. So I just figured - hey men - Vickie's - you know -- sleaze bags or just in love.

Never been to UK. What is hot? Today in Indiana we are a comfy 78F/26C, but earlier this week we were boiling at 91F/33C and very humid. Poor DS12 is at Boy Scout camp. Is there a smiley showing sweat dripping down your face?

:scared: OK not exactly sweat but will this do? ;)

Camarillo is my home town. On a Friday, there will be lots of traffic as you leave Santa Barbara. The good news is that the outets in Camarillo won't be crownded. Usually its only bad on weekends. Have a safe trip!

Congratulations on your discount!!! You deserve it!

-Michelle-
Michelle? Camarillo was very nice to my DD and the rest of the family. Got all kinds of birthday gifts, anniversary gifts and even some school shoes down. Now to go back alone and shop for me.

That's a big trip. What will she be doing out there? I won't be packing till a couple of days before we fly!!!

This is her 4th trip to Russia and the Ukraine....there are members for the USA, Canada and Australia that go every year the first 2 weeks in July and sponsor a youth camp for the children, many of which are in an orphanage. They have many activities during the 2 weeks along with distributing Bibles to the children in their own language. All of this is approved by the Russian government.

Looking forward to meting you as well, we are originally from Memphis and Holly Springs, I also have a cousin in Gulfport just down the road a piece I think.

I was born in Springfield, IL and moved to MS when I was 15....parents decided to move back to their home state! Needless to say, I was not happy and swore I was moving back when I got out of school. Well that was 31 yrs ago and now I am a "country" girl and would have it no other way. I have family in Memphis and my DH is a fireman for the City of Biloxi which is by Gulfport.

That is excellent. Well done to your daughter and the group.

Our EBPC thread ended on #17 or 18 but that's not counting the huge thread we had going before the 250 page rule. It was not uncommon to have 10-15 pages per HOUR let alone per day.

distant water colored memories, of the way we were...

Putting the microphone down now...:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

That was so much fun!!!!!

This is one thing I hope to buy on this cruise - I did not know until the last cruise when we set the alarm for the first time in 5 cruises that the alarm plays when you wish upon a star! There was no room in our suitcases last time - this time I hope to make room!

I didn't know that either--never have messed witht he clock at all on any of our previos cruises!

We went there after the EBTA and had a great time - only one regret - did not buy a Chip and Dale pin for my daughter - in Paris they are called Tic and Tac and had meant to buy a pin with "Tic and Tac" words on it - people think we are crazy when we tell them this!

If you can find a picture of it, I would be glad to pick you one up and give it to you on the ship

All I can say is you do not want to have an attack on the cruise! My husband did and it was a very interesting experience with the whole thing - he knew what was going on as he had had one the april before (it was December) but the Dr. onboard was convienced he had a bowl impaction and wanted to get us off the ship ASAP - but we managed to stay on for another day and made it to Orlando - and then flew home - he did have surgeory but not till after Christmas. i still have nightmares of the Dr. trying to figure out how to use the xray machine - he had to get out the MANUAL!!!! I kid you not!
Krisann
Now that is :scared1:

I has my MRI on Wednesday. I still do have the results yet. I talk to the doctor today and do not have the results yet. I don't know if that a good thing or a bad thing. At lease i was not in pain this time at the MRI, because I was drug out of my mind. They gave me 2 high doses of xanax. Some on could have shot me and i would have not cared. I will share the results when i know.

Stephen

Hope they get you feeling better SOON!!

Yosemite is so beautiful. Yesterday we hiked the Panorama Trail (8.2 miles) from Glacier Point to the Yosemite Valley. We went past three waterfalls. Priceless.

I've been away from the boards for three days, and already there's another 35 pages. I don't know if I'll ever catch up.

Woody

pictures, please:)

Howdy everyone,
Figured I’d better check in. I’ve been reading this board for a while now. I have been informed, educated and entertained about the WBTA by you intrepid Disney cruisers, thanks.

We have felt the Magic twice before. Our DDIL and DS (HallsofVA) shanghaied us onto a Magical Western Caribbean cruise on 12/3/05. Then we joined them for a Magical Eastern Caribbean on 12/6/08.

Ahhh, one more time into the breach me lads and lassies. It will be exciting to cross the pond again at least this time it won’t be haze gray and underway. We had a DIS board presence before but it was so close to my DDIL’s that decided to create a new one to quell confusion.

DW Mona and I are looking forward to meeting y’all and experiencing the MAGIC once again.
John (aka Commodore Jack)

My daughter leaves next Saturday for a 2 week mission trip in Samara, Russia.....She is using both of my big suitcases.....sooooo I cant pack until she gets back :headache:

How cool Pam!!! Hope she really enjoys it:)

Welcome aboard!! We are John and Noel and this is our 4th DCL cruise. John is 66 and I am 59. This cruise we are traveling without our kids or GK's as school schedules will not permit traveling for such an extended time.

I too look forward to meet you both on board. Be sure you check the first page of the thread to see all the activities we have planned. You can also check out the website that was created for this cruise at www.transatlanticpirates.com

Welcome to Sea Rouges - glad you decided to sign on!

We like to chat and have fun.

DisneySweetie - what your daughter is doing is great! I am sure it will be an experience she will never forget!

I have just got a new computer (yea MacBook :woohoo:) and I am able to join the disboard again so you don't have to think I am just a figment of my DD Terapin's imagination. I have been able to read all the posts but I could have filled a bathtub in the time it took my old system to respond. Did I say I loved my MacBook! I have loved reading all your news and look forward to meeting all of you.

:welcome: Terapin's mum!!

John and I celebrate our 25th anniversary on July 4.

Congrats!

I'm only mentally packing right now, so you could do that, too.

Doctor on board is pretty useless. DD had terrible pain in her leg. He said just rest, it must be sprain. Turned out she had a blood clot in her leg that by continuing to walk traveled into her lungs. When we got off the ship, she ended up first in emergency, then in the hospital for a week in Florida.

When we queried DCL about this, they were very unconcerned. Never did get an apology or any real reason why they did not take her pain seriously.

This should remind us all to keep those legs moving and drink plenty of water on our flights, especially the long TA flights.

Welcome!

John picked up his new iPhone 4 this morning. Well it was this afternoon actually after he had queued for 5 hours!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Try getting him to queue for 30 minutes for a Disney ride!!!!!:rotfl:

My wonderful daughter stood in line for 5 hours to get ours. I sat on a bench in the mall and when she got to the front of the queue, I hobbled over and walked in with her. My phone was up and running in 20 minutes. Hers she had to wait for the ATT rep at the Apple Store to fix. And it is dropping calls like crazy. Poor baby. But we love the phones. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I think she is going to take her laptop and phone back to the Apple Store today. Her itunes still won't sync and like I said, it is dropping almost every call she makes.

No. Americans traveling to Spain for up to 90 days as tourists do not require a visa.

Thanks very much! One less thing to worry about. (You might be interested to know my DH was actively in the Marines from mid-60s to early 70s. And we'll be attending his reunion dinner this Tuesday at the Marine Corps Museum near Quantico.)

I posted the sizes for our airline much earlier in this forum. I will post again and show what we bought.

Carry on size is as follows:
Cabin baggage
For reasons of safety as well as convenience, each passenger is only allowed to take one item of cabin baggage into the cabin. Cabin baggage must not weigh more than 6 kg (8 kg incl. laptop) and the dimensions must not exceed 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. Passengers in airberlin’s business class may take a second item of cabin baggage weighing up to 6 kg on board.

6 kg - 13 lbs 3 oz 8 = 17 lbs 10 oz
55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. = 21.7" x 15.7" x 7.9"

Checked baggage:
Free baggage allowance
On short-haul and medium-haul flights the maximum free baggage allowance for checked baggage is 20 kg per passenger. Cost for extra baggage is 5 euros per 4 kg or if you have a bag that weighs, for example, 20 kg, you will pay 100 Euros for the bag itself and 50 Euros for having an extra bag.

20 kg = 44 lbs 1 oz

This is the extra bag we bought to carry on which meets the exact specs.

That is so helpful, Noel. Thank you.

With respect to health issues, I didn't tell my DD's story to scare anyone, only to warn you that they didn't seem to take my DD's health concerns very seriously. I was expecting them to be more through and was very disappointed when DCL did not seem to be concerned with a serious misdiagnosis. If you have any concerns before you sail, you should review them with your own physician and get their recommendation.

If we would have thought at the onset that DD's sore leg was anything even slightly more serious, we would have had her seen before we left. She had been over exercising so all of us (including her) thought is was sore muscles.

When the pain persisted even though she was resting, I think they might have recommended we see a physician before we flew home. I specifically asked them that question and was told, no need, just get plenty of rest. Only an over zealous Mom like me insisted she see a Doctor which resulted in her hospitalization.

Just my thoughts.....

You have to be the best advocate for your family's health or else who is, right?

This is her 4th trip to Russia and the Ukraine....there are members for the USA, Canada and Australia that go every year the first 2 weeks in July and sponsor a youth camp for the children, many of which are in an orphanage. Gotta love those firefighters (I belong to our local auxiliary). It takes a special person to do that kind of job.

Welcome John and Mona (I hope we don't have any conflicts between the Captain and the Commodore ;) ). This trip I'm seeing a lot of Virginians (we live in the Fredericksburg area); very cool!

Hi All!

I've posted now and then, but have mostly been absent from these discussions due to a killer work and travel schedule, and notice that there are a lot more folks posting here now. I'm Richard, and my DW is the Lady Jacky. She's English, I'm American, but we've both lived in Toronto, Canada for quite some years now. (Toronto's a great compromised between London and NYC!).

My DW and I celebrated our 30th anniversary with a cruise on the Magic Eastern Caribbean, January 17th, 2009. Following the cruise, there was a lot of moping on the boards from those of us on that cruise, it was so great - yet we found that there were a lot of us from the 1/17/09 cruise who had also booked for the WBTA, so I'm curious: How many of you were also on that cruise? Here's a partial list of folks that had booked:

fltink
Futurist
mmouse37
4Goofy4Dis
RCostello1
Sparky47
Maxs GM
Ibouncetoo
Narnian_Princess

I haven't seen many of these names on this set of boards. Are any of you still here and still planning to be on board?

And to the rest of you who weren't there, we will look forward to meeting you all on board.

Finally, to all you pirates, princesses, fun-sized folks, and soon to be shipmates:

TAKE WHAT YOU CAN!!! pirate:

GIVE NOTHING BACK!

Glad to see ya and welcome aboard!

Oh, and we'll celebrate 37 years of marriage on Sept. 1 (and saying yes was the smartest thing I've ever done!).
