It *IS* a reason to celebrate, and a glass of wine isn't a terrible way to splurge!

Yikes. Twelve and eighteen hour days. YUCK! It sounds like June 25-30 would be best then if we're looking at the immediate future, right?! I'll PM you so we can make arrangements! I'm so excited!!

And if it was THREE glasses?? :lmao::lmao:

Can't wait for my first DIS meet of the year (even if it is a small one)!!

:dance3::dance3:

MY DW and I are wait-listed for a suite, but I'm concerned about the cost. I suspect that a one-bedroom would probably run about $9,000+

Does anyone know what a one-bedroom goes for? I want to be mentally prepared to say yes or no if one becomes available.

Thanks!
Richard

We were offered an upgrade from a 4 to a 3. Cost was $3300 which would have made our total without insurance $8976.60. We declined. Hope this helps.

Anytime! My hotel is on the east side in the Beachwood area so I'm really familiar with all the restaurants in that area but I'm willing to drive out of my comfort zone and try something new also.

That's hysterical!! Of course, I'm trying to become less curvilicious right now and I'm in fact having a glass of wine right now to celebrate losing my 1st 5lbs tonight at my WW mtg!! (not in 1 week mind you) Ten more and I'll be back where I was 2 years ago on the EBPC! :woohoo:

I know where Beachwood is! We used to stay there YEARS ago when we went to the Twins Festival in Twinsburg! It was a nice area! :)

I'm going to my WW meeting tomorrow night...not sure if I'll lose this week or not. My thyroid problem is finally under control so we'll see what happens!

Hi all....we are finally booked into a hotel room. We are staying at Praktik Barcelona from the 16th until the 18th. So excited!!
Make sure you add yourself to the list that Kimberly is maintaining. And I think someone was trying to arrange transport from the hotel to port since there are so many folks staying there.

Just booked yesterday (realized we had DVC points we were going to lose) so we still have to sort out our air schedule. Has anyone found Disney air to be reasonable from IAD or BWI?

We are planning to get into Barcelona on the 16th. Still looking at hotels, although planning to stay near the top of Las Ramblas near Plaza Catalunya. Barcelona is a very beautiful and walkable city.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Andrea
We are flying from DCA into BCN via Philadelphia arriving on the 16th. (We actually live across the street from IAD, but there were more flight options from DCA and less waiting around the airport.) DCL had quoted us almost $1000/person for the air from/to IAD, but we booked with USAir for $401 each for the BCN leg when USAir had a sale back in January.

He also said that DCL has been offering a lot of cast member and military deals on this and the Med cruise. While we are now past the cancellation penalty date and no discounts help us, this does bode well for free upgrades.

Thank you for this post! I was about to chime in that they hadn't actually offered any discounts on our cruise yet, but went to double check and see that the military rates are now offered for our cruise. They weren't out when I checked last night, so that's a recent development.

BRUNCH

I have just been onto the Disney Cruise site, on bookings for our Cruise and saw that there were openings for Brunch (2 people). I dont know how many places, but hope that somebody might be able to take advantage of this and be able to get a booking.
I was lucky enough to get a booking on Sunday at the opening time, but I know some of you couldnt get a booking.

The DCL site always teases me, since it shows a reservation available, but it's always been just the original reservation time that we already have booked. What a tease!

I think this was discussed once before many threads ago, but do we have any idea of how many kids will be on the ship. We are bringing our 2 DD's ages 6 & 7. I wasn't sure if there is going to be many kids their age on the ship.

I'll have a 3.75 yr old DD and a 6.7 yr old DS with me! You can see a few of the kids listed in the Fish Extender sign up on the 1st post but that's not a complete number.

Does anyone know whether we can check our account balance before we board? I think I was offered an OBC when I booked on board, but don't remember, and don't know how much it was. I think it had something to do with being excited at the time.... :woohoo:

I've also been following some of the discussion on the fuel surcharge, and would like to know if we're getting a credit or not. The instructions say "To see if you are eligible for the onboard credit, go to My Disney Cruise on or after the determination date. Retrieve your reservation and view the Invoice Information under Reservation Details." But I can't find "Reservation Details" anywhere, and so can't check. Where do I look? :confused3

Thanks!
Richard

If you've booked via a travel agent, they need to check for you. You won't see the invoice or reservaiton details if you have a TA involved. I've had my TA check/confirm my OBCs. I've also called DCL in the past to confirm when I've booked directly with them.

We're about the same size. I look fabulous though, so I'm sure you do too!

I am focusing on improving my strength and flexibility, and to improve my cardiac health, and to maintain the good health I am blessed with. I'd like to be smaller, but it isn't critical to my self-esteem. I like me. I'd just like to be smaller and am working towards that goal.

xoxo

That sounds like a great outlook, and is what I'm aiming for....improve my general fitness and strength....if I lose weight along the way I shall be happy!:thumbsup2

I love your attitudes!

Ermmm, I'm not saying which century I am stuck in!!!

If you're anything like me, the two on the left would do it.

I think we all need to first to find a way to be happy with the person we are and with our relationships with those we love. Once we find that balance, I think we can try to eat sensibly, exercise, live life with a happy spirit and if we are lucky, have a fulfilling career. I can't imagine being on my deathbed worrying that I didn't loose enough weight.

Just my thoughts...
:surfweb:

Noel, so well put!

I think there is a campfire song about a honeymoon night and by the time the new wife removed her false eye lashes, wig, extra "padding", etc, there was more of her on the chair than in the bed so that's where her husband slept:rotfl:

That's too funny :rotfl: .

Kimmy, don't sell yourself "short". As my 5' 1/2 inch DD says (remember, we give her that 1/2 inch) Great things come in small packages and if all else fails, do what she says - "I Bite Ankles" :lmao:

Wow, I'm 5'2" and always went with "I gnaw gnees." Or is it "I knaw knees"? (Yes, and as DGD2 says, "silly grandma.")

Hi, we are bringing our 2 DD's who will be 8 and 9 :thumbsup2

Anyone recognize this one? ;)

urselaface2.jpg

Fingers crossed, fingers crossed Let's hope it works.

YES! I REMEMBERED!!!!!!

No, I don't remember, but sign me up :thumbsup2

SIGH, Vegas it is. I might be driving her back myself if Steve wins a seat. Oh well, there's a couple outlet malls on the way out of town. Its been a while since I've been to outlet malls. I'll sacrifice and volunteer to drive her home by my little old lonesome. Barstow has a great big COACH outlet and just might have the "newer" older style with lots of pretty colors. :rotfl2:

Yay, Finally another Coach Lover, all this Dooney and Bourke talk, I'm a Coach girl too! :cool1:

Thankyou!!

Thanks, but no tins or Haggis for me, Ew!
Would you like some Vegemite, everyone else seems to hate it, I love it!

I think your talking about After the Ball was over.

After the ball was over
Mary took out her glass eye
Stood her peg leg in the corner
Washed off the paint and the dye
Put her false teeth in some water
Hung up her hair on the wall,
That's all that was left of poor Mary, they say,
After the ball.

So now we just have to hope that there isn't a fire drill at night. We may not be able to recognize eachother! :scared1:
:lmao::rotfl::lmao::rotfl::lmao:

I was laughing so hard when I read this. On our last cruise, we were with some of our best friends, and my husband bought the green mankini as a joke. Our stateroom host and friends laughed so hard when my husband held it up and said he was going on Deck 4 to run. It was worth the Amazon price of $9.99 as a joke. We still talk about it - it hangs proudly in the closet, but he has not worn it.

Tell DH to bring his mankini! I want to see him splashing in the Mickey pool in it :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hey everyone----

I know I haven't been on the boards in a few days....my family (mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, and 11 month old niece) have been visiting me and Jason for the past week and so I haven't really been online much....but I logged on today and there are almost 50 pages of new posts!! Unfortunately there is NO WAY I can read all those and catch up (and besides while I'm trying to catch up I"m sure you'll all post another 20 pages!! :lmao::lmao:)

I know I have a handful of PM's to respond to and I'll get to those later this evening. Otherwise if you think there's been something on here in the past 4 or 5 days that I really need to know or that I missed...someone please repost it OR send me a PM!!

Eric, They released the DCL dolphin swim times, I know you ended up booking something else, but just in case your still interested :confused3

And you missed all the Spanx talk :rotfl2:

We actually had a speedo parade while we were having our ladies tea in Palo. Poor Palo servers didn't know what to think with all of us hysterically laughing and with a bunch of guys parading around deck 10. :rotfl::rotfl:

Wow, I did not get to get on here today at work and am I paying for it now. I skimmed, as best I could.

Now that I am doing I cannot remember what I was going to ask.. I will be back later or better yet, tomorrow.

AT least you can get on at work... I have to delay my farmville and cafe work playing to try and read all these pages. Last night we were reading in the 150's I thought now it is up to 184.Skimming for sure. :woohoo:

I don't believe it .... just one night's sleep and I wake up to 12 pages :scared1::scared1:

spanx aren't magic, it doesn't disappear, it just moves!

That flab overflow has to go somewhere doesn't it?:lmao:

I just wish I could persuade the flab overflow to stay at bust level where it would actually be of some use. :rotfl:

A wonderful outlook :thumbsup2

Oh no ....why do the 1950s suddenly seem very familiar !!!

OK so I get Martins Money Tip Newsletter every week and just saw that the ESTA's we need to go into the US are going to start having a $10 fee on them. The predicted date that this fee is going to kick in is September so I'd suggest everyone fill in their ESTA's soon to avoid this. They are valid for 2 years from the date you submit them! We did ours in April so are covered but not sure everyone has one yet!

Thanks Sarah for the reminder ... I had completely forgotten about this.

Another beautiful outlook :thumbsup2

Its great talking about packing, I was trying stuff on today and getting myself completly over excited.

Yes, I am starting to try clothes on and see what I need(want;)) to buy. Hopefully this time it is a good time to be going away as soon there will be the sales!!!:yay: Usually we have gone when there are few summer clothes in the shops, and certainly no sales. Perhaps I should buy a bigger suitcase in the sales too!!:rotfl2:

I have been going through my cruise clothing too ..... spent yesterday checking out what I had packed away in my suitcase. Can't wait for the sales to get underway.

I just realized that you live in Berkshire, so you may not know what my reference was related to! Tim played a character on a show called "Home Improvement" years ago. Not sure if that ever aired across the pond or not. If not, understand Tim's character hosted a TV show called "Tool Time", which was a how-to-do-it-yourself kind of show. He always had these grunts he made to express manhood!

Isn't Tim Allen Buzz Lightyear ????

Oi! Some of us girlies are football (soccer) fans to you know! ;) (and like the odd beer) :thumbsup2

I am definitely NOT a soccer fan but have been known to enjoy the odd beer !

Before I go I just have to share with everybody, I just had vegi haggis, neeps and tatties for my dinner and it was yummy on my tummy I was hungry after all my breaking sweat today.

Now I can imagine all our friends in the USA and Australia and Europe are straight onto GOOGLE !!!!

As long as it's the right kind of beer (none of that cheapo Budweiser or Coors stuff) then I'm all into changing the conversation!!

I really like Budweiser .... is that classed as cheap beer over there? Over here it is a decent beer .... there is a lot worse.

Broke sweat today myself. We had an employee appreciation lunch at work today. They had it catered with ymmuy barbecue, then had a basketball free throw contest (didn't participate), water balloon toss (made it to the last round and lost) and country line dancing (this is where the sweat came in, had a blast).

Now back to work. But how do they expect us to settle down after that??

This sounds like fun. Now I wish UK employers did something like that. Not a chance with the NHS, the only thing they have given us this year is a 2 year pay freeze.

There are just loads on there, though I didn't see Spanx themselves. I never knew they still made Playtex girdles etc!!!!!! I really wouldn't know which to buy, apart from Gok wotsits designs are a bit raunchy for an old lady like me!!!:lmao: I could do it by a process of elimination!!!

My Nan used to wear playtex girdles ... all the time. Even when she was really thin and in her 90s, she was never without her girdles. :confused3

Well HECK, I must still be stuck in the dark ages. ;):rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao:

you made me chuckle.

Any of you guys bringing a mankini:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

When I ran the great north run, a man ran past me in nothing but a mankini, I kept up with him for 4 miles:lmao: my best half marathon time ever:thumbsup2

I would run the other way, they do NOT look good!!!

I am flying with BA to London and they are allowing 2 checked bags, a carry-on and a purse. Does anyone know if they will allow a bag to carry my cpap machine in addition to the carry-on or will it be considered the carry-on I don't want to check it.

I am flying with Veuling from Paris to Barcelona. Does anyone know if I can pay for an additional checked bag as they only allow one?

Perhaps I will only wear old clothes in London and Paris. I can just throw them out as I wear them. That way I won't have any laundry, won't have to worry about Vueling and get a lot more space to bring home new stuff. :laundy: :thumbsup2

As far as the cpap I would phone/email BA special assistance. I am sure they would allow that as a second carry on bag, but i would want something I could print out to say so!!!

I would email the other flight company too if you can't find the info hidden somewhere on their website.

If you can travel in some older clothes you could throw away I think that is a great idea.

My Goodness,

I'm not sure i'll be able to look at any of you girls on the cruise in the same light... ;)

I'll keep wondering if you're all wearing magical undergarments that make you, smaller, thiner, taller, flatter......

On second thoughts i think i might get a pair!!!:rotfl:

SW

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

For those of you in the UK who are interested in trying Spanx, knowing QVC in the US sells them, I checked out QVCUK.com, and they have a wide selection.

I have never had problems with my Spanx rolling up the thigh, and I have various lengths that go down the thigh. Give them a try through QVC. You have a 30 day no-questions-asked return policy to fall back on if you decide they are not for you!

Imagine all those stretched worn pairs being sent back after the event the customers wanted to have a smooth outline for!!! Perhaps QVC could send me some already stretched ones for comfort!!!;)

Thanks Marilyn,
I was worried that I had booked Palo dinner on Formal night. I am ok though because luckily I booked the 23rd. :)

:thumbsup2

I just wish I could persuade the flab overflow to stay at bust level where it would actually be of some use. :rotfl:

I don't want flab overflow anywhere, and certainly not at bust level!!!:scared1:

My mother had Playtex girdles. They were rubber, and I remember her sticking cycle repair kit rubber stickers over holes to mend them!!! She had lived through the war and was very inventive on making things do!!
Being my age I have to say we all wore girdles as a matter of course as we needed something to hold our stocking up with! Suspender belts just didn't do it for some of us. It was great when panty girdles came in, and tights(pantyhose to you in the US) Great invention.:worship:

I have just got a new computer (yea MacBook :woohoo:) and I am able to join the disboard again so you don't have to think I am just a figment of my DD Terapin's imagination. I have been able to read all the posts but I could have filled a bathtub in the time it took my old system to respond. Did I say I loved my MacBook! I have loved reading all your news and look forward to meeting all of you.

Hi Tru ..... welcome back to the DIS boards. I am looking at buying a new computer as at the moment I can only use either one of the kids' laptops when they are not using them ( ie. very rarely ... they need major surgery to separate them from their laptops ) I mostly can log on in th mornings when they are still in bed.

My Goodness,

I'm not sure i'll be able to look at any of you girls on the cruise in the same light... ;)

Forgot to bring my insurance information with me today, so I'll have to call them tomorrow. I've been waiting to get that process started until after I got ahold of someone at Six Flags and talk to the audiologist. I actually have a pretty low deductible, so if insurance covers it, I'm golden.

Good luck with your insurance claim :wizard::wizard:

Anyone recognize this one? ;)

Speaking of men's underwear, I have bought my DH a gift for the cruise. His favourite characters are Chip and Dale so when I saw these I had to get him a pair:

Right, we need a mankini parade then, Speedo will pass if they don't have mankini's. :thumbsup2

I just wish I could persuade the flab overflow to stay at bust level where it would actually be of some use. :rotfl:

That would be useful, If somebody would invent the "spanx / flab to ****s bra", I reckon I'd try it! :rotfl2:

Tim Allen was and is Buzz Lightyear! :goodvibes

Sounds like a great plan!! Do you know what the lines and admission cost might be for the attractions? We are just trying to avoid long lines.

I found this site that has all the prices on it.

•FREE Gibraltar Bus Pass (adult or child one day bus pass). This must be collected from the Gibraltarinfo kiosk on the Spanish side of the Gibraltar/Spanish land frontier.

I need to check on the bus pass, since we won't be going to the land frontier.

I found this site which has the routes and price (about 1 pound return) and I think the #3 and #4 buses go to the cable car station. I also read that the drivers are bilingual if not multlingual so shouldn't be any issues asking where to go.

I have been re-thinking my Barcelona tour. There are two museums that sound interesting. The Museu Maritim (Maritime museum) and the Castell Dels Tres Dragons (The Castle of the Three Dragons). The later museum is a Zoology and Geology Museum. They are together and make up the Natural Science Museum. The book says that a skelton of a whale greets the visitors.

Has anyone either seen these or heard of them?

We are planning on going to the Maritime museum which had a good write up in the Barcelona Lonely Planet and also the City Museum which sounds fascinating (I love museums!)

I hope I don't insult anyone, but after reading that - I can easily diet!!! Ugh! Back to cruise food - who likes the lunch buffets???:rotfl2::rotfl2::laughing:

Lunch buffet is good but the lunch DESSERT buffet is better :rotfl:

As for the men - they are tidy whities, boxers and sports shorts......either way - they're still undies.

Not sure if Australian's call them the same as they are called here - "gruds" or "grundies" - both terms make me cringe.

What about men's swimwear (made me think of it after seeing this and the comments about mankini's and speedo's) - aka "slug huggers" or "budgie smugglers" (a budgie is a small parrot - not sure how widely known that is ;) )

I like your outlook, I'm going to try and adopt that one! I would also like to be smaller, less wobbly and less dimply :scared1:, but this is the body I've got, and I am fit and healthy so I need to learn to LIKE ME the way I am. :thumbsup2

Just remember there are only about 10 super models and they are photoshopped. Nobody looks like they appear in the magazines...

AT least you can get on at work... I have to delay my farmville and cafe work playing to try and read all these pages. Last night we were reading in the 150's I thought now it is up to 184.Skimming for sure. :woohoo:

I had to ensure I'd harvested all my crops before coming here this evening - oh the stress! :lmao:

How funny, It just **** out my word, And it wasn't even a rude one, well not in Australia anyway, :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Good grief, its forever censoring me or even worse, trying to correct my non-US spelling!

Speaking of censoring, we got a new Intranet at work and it must have a profanity filter but its in over drive and it keeps *ing out the middle of the word documentation - always makes me laugh, always said it was a dirty word when it comes to IT :lmao:

Wow, I'm 5'2" and always went with "I gnaw gnees." Or is it "I knaw knees"? (Yes, and as DGD2 says, "silly grandma.")

 it - may I pass it on? :rotfl2:

We actually had a speedo parade while we were having our ladies tea in Palo. Poor Palo servers didn't know what to think with all of us hysterically laughing and with a bunch of guys parading around deck 10. :rotfl::rotfl:

OMG! I saw videotape of that. I tried so hard to get them to do it again. They actually wore them didn't they? Then again, this was the group that hacked into someone's photobucket account and "photoshopped" the man-thong and bling on poor Mike's picture. Or was it our fearless leader? Either way, that was such a riot. And I think the said victim had to wait until he got home to see what all of us commented on, on like over 10 pages. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:ROTFLMAO! DIS family - the family that laughs together is probably laughing at antics like this.

Yeah! That was fun.:thumbsup2
