No pickup time has yet been arranged for the buses - its probably nearly time for me to hand over the list of interested people to Nacho/Stephen to arrange the transport if he's still happy to do this.

Was someone arranging a scavenger hunt or is that just the "day to day activities"?

For those of you who are "dieting", I just finished "Women, Food and God" by Geneen Roth. It was on Oprah last week. The book basically came down to be the you, you want to be and let the past be the past. DON'T DIET! since we all know that just leads us to failure. The guidelines were to eat when hungry, stop when you are full and eat with out distractions (no tv, radio, reading during eating). You can eat whatever you want as long as you follow the guidelines. It seems to simple to work. But I thought I would give it a ago. I'll let you all know how its working for me.

I remember an episode of AbFab where Eddie said she's on another diet and Saffy said "why don't you just eat a bit less and exercise a bit more" and Eddie said in her usual sarcastic manner "don't you think, if it was that easy darling, that everyone would be doing it?".

I eat off a child's plate for meals - simply to stop Robert serving me the same as him - he's over 6' and I'm only 5'4". I also try to limit the amount of chocolate (my weakness) to a small piece every day - that way I can't pig out on it. I also rarely buy biscuits, potato chips etc - can't eat them if they aren't in the house.

Oh and biking to/from work and walking the dogs (if its not pouring with rain) is good too. Reminds me of the saying, "if your dog is overweight, you aren't getting enough exercise" :rotfl2:

And I can safely say, from personal experience, that fracturing your jaw is a fab way to loose weight - though a little drastic ;)

Just popping in with a quick hi. Been back for about 4 hours from having my op. All has gone well. Been sleeping mostly. Have pain from the op and the gas they pump in, but this will go one way or another!!!;)

I look like they have drained the life blood from my face!!!

Hope you're all having a nice weekend.

Hope you have a speedy recovery and regarding the pale face - the vampire look is all the rage so you are just being super trendy!

I am sooooo excited! I have been working all morning/afternoon on my FE's and just LOVE the way it has turned out.

For all the people BBQ'ing and having a great time this weekend! ENJOY! I will get back to my FE's and dreaming about 17 weeks to go!!!

I spent a chunk of time yesterday working on my fish gifts and have them all done now so really pleased with myself.

Wishing we could BBQ here but it looks like we are heading into winter in a big way with weather warnings for lots (and lots) of rain and its pretty chilly too... grumble, hate winter...

Thanks for the good wishes. I quite liked the vampire look actually;)!!! Yesterday I woke up with all the blood pumped back into my cheeks with the rest still white!! Now that wasn't a good look. Today I am slightly more normal looking.:lmao:

Well done on the fish gifts. I have only just started thinking about them!!

As you can see from the lack of multiposts I'm back in work!

...lol, another reason to start the diet tomorrow!:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I didn't either! It takes about 5 minutes to make (apart from crushing the biscuits...which is very therapeutic) so is a real winner :rotfl2:

Ingredients are ordered in this weeks weekly shop so Ill let you know how it goes!

Great content, Sarah! Thank you!!

If others would benefit, I have two suggested topic additions.

  • Come See Us
  • Embarkation Don't Forget Checklist

Come See Us: On my last cruise, there were a handful of us who asked for others to come visit our cabin door for one reason or another. This is the case for me this time, too, because I want visitors to come to sign my scrapbook page that I'll have up on my door (click here to see one I had on my door last time; here's another, too). Another reason people had was that they were home schooling and wanted cruisers to stop by and mark on a flat global map where they were from so they could incorporate that into a lesson when they returned home. Are there any others who would like to have us specifically stop by and see your cabin's entryway? I know I would go out of my way to stop by and help you out!

Don't Forget Checklist: Although there aren't many, I know that we still have some DCL first timers with us. On my first Disney cruise, I wanted to make sure I had my priorities right when I boarded, so I put a checklist of things you want to potentially address when you embarked on our Meet's "go-to" post. You can see what we had on our collective list here. The list may need updated with current info (like I don't know if the discount is give any longer), and I'm sure that there are other checklist items that people here can suggest as well.

Oh I'm liking these. So far we're at 24 pages so think another 2 wont hurt lol

Hello people

Not sure how many remember me - I'm Laura AKA eeyorelvr10. Seems Steve and I will be going on this cruise as final payment was finally made. I feel like I've been off DIS for years. Been on another site and avoided this one. Forgot how slow it can get. But at least I'm here and hoping to see some familiar faces on the cruise. I will be playing catch soon as DD gets out of school on June 3 and I will finally have some play time.

Anythign I've missed and need to sign up for? :rolleyes1 Or is it all too late?

Take care and talk soon

Welcome back. I think the first page of posts has loads of stuff on Laura!

Hi Friends!

We're still here - just been busy. Been keeping up with y'all on my blackberry while at work. We are getting very excited around here and I am starting to get some things together for the cruise.

We're trying to convince A, our youngest, that he needs to toilet learn. He is 3 and very resistant. Even little candies aren't an incentive. I've told him all about the Mickey pool and how he has to be diaper free to use it, and how we will have a Diaper Free party once he is using the potty full-time. But alas, he is resistant - forever my baby, I guess. Sigh. My strengths are not in long-term projects.

lol Stubbon it seems is an understatement.

A quick catch up before I head out to the garden to laze in the sun.....:cloud9:

No, No St. Thomas, that was me talking about the beaches vs. the beaches in Tortola. Sorry!:flower3:

AH, I see! I'm easily confuzzled...don't worry!:rotfl2:

Hi there!:woohoo:

:rotfl2:Thought it was St Maarten and Tortola?

:rotfl2:

Hi everyone!

My shoulder is back to 100%, thankfully! It hurt a little at the Disney Store yesterday while I was working but nothing too bad. It must have been a muscle that I pulled...I hope I don't pull it again!

Kimberly, it's so nice to see you posting again! I missed you!

FE question. What I am planning on doing, I believe I will have enough for all of the cabins so is there a way I can get a list of all of the staterooms/Dis names for everyone participating in the FE? It may or may not work out, but I was just wondering if it would be possible.

Spent the day with my husband and it was so nice. We had lunch at the Olive Garden (I love their soup, salad and breadsticks meal) and then visited Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe's. We had a great time just walking around.

In one week from right now, I'll be in New York City seeing "Glee" in concert! I can't wait!!! I love that show!!! My sister and I are going up for the day so it should be exciting. I haven't been to NYC for over a year and a half so it will be nice. They are playing at Radio City Music Hall so I'm excited to go there again. It should be fun!

I hope everyone is having a great day! :)

oh my dd loves Glee and will be very jealous when I tell her :thumbsup2 Glad your shoulder's better:)

Great news that your shoulder's feeling better!

I've missed being on here, too, but it helped having people like you and others on FB to keep up with!

Oh I *know* you are over-the-top with excitement to see Glee! I'm sure you and Beth will have an amazing time! I haven't been to NYC for a couple of years myself, so I'm very jealous!

No worries!

I will take the opportunity to educate some of you on what a buckeye is, however! ;) (Stay with me friends! :rotfl:)

Ohio's state tree is the buckeye tree. It has leaves that frankly look similiar to special leaves some countries allow you to legally smoke :scared1: and poisonous nuts called buckeyes. The nut is inside of the balls you see hanging from this tree.

IMGP0307.jpg

Since the buckeye tree is the state tree, The Ohio State University does have a mascot named Brutus Buckeye. Furthermore, in honor of the state nut, a special treat that a lot of people primarily make during the Christmas holiday season (because it's so labor intensive) are buckeye candies! Harry London Chocolates and Anthony Thomas Chocolates, both based in Ohio, also manufacture them. They are balls of peanut butter candy covered in chocolate, with just the very top of the PB ball exposed so it looks like the tree nut. They are SOOOO good, and all of you who love Reese's Cups in the US would LOVE these!

BuckeyeCandy4.jpg

So there's your yummy lesson about buckeyes! :thumbsup2 (See....it wasn't THAT painful to get a lesson....unless you eat them! The treadmill could be painful to keep the calories off the thighs!)

Thats really interesting thank you! They look like our conkers a bit!:thumbsup2

It's very frustrating when I try and give him updates and he says- "baby, I'm glad your excited, but I just can't think about it right now, tell me on the plane". That's what we normally do, I tell him what we're doing on the way there.
It is 3:30 here now (daytime), what time is it there? I wonder if there are any 'awake' hours that we share?

I think we get extra excited at the idea of not having to do cooking, cleaning and housework while we're on vacation. :banana:Also at the idea of having someone else look after the kids at kids club. It really is a break for Mum's (mom's in USA, lol) Don't get me wrong, my DH works hard, but it's different. The mum's will know what I mean. :goodvibes

Don't worry Dan is the same! I tell him "our" plans and he says that's nice dear. On the 16th he might actually get excited!

Occassionally (well like yesterday) I do get some response but only because I said "shall we not bother with the rasul thingy and do the massage instead". He seems to prefer the Rasul so I guess Ill be booking this next week

And if you want to make the candy it is easy as 1-2-3!
Butter (1 lb), peanut butter (2 lbs) and 10X sugar (3lb)... roll into balls. Then melt chocolate chips (semi sweet) add some parafin so they get a harder shell. dunk the peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate and YUM!!!

While I grew up in Illinois, and went to U of I (and maybe the Illini will remember what a football is this year) I am a buckeye by marriage and I make a full recipe if these every Christmas time...

I thought about these as a FE gift, or for the candy exchange, but was too worried about customs...

Sue

yum!:thumbsup2

I see that a part 6 thread has already been started :confused3 ....did you all want this thread closed so that part 6 can be utilized?
Thanks

Oh yes there was but I'm not sure if this is going in the Navigator or not? Sarah I think was doing it (TotallyAngelic) but I might be wrong

....and now I'm off out into the glorious sunshine. Becky had a good time at the weekend, though she came back far too tired and worn out. Some sunshine and rest will help I'm sure.
I really should be hacking at the jungle/garden, but I'm just going to relax and make the most of the heat right now....and dream of our cruise!:cool1:

Hope we get to find out our cabin number soon!

Have a good week everyone!:flower3::littleangel:

Wow, it's been a busy few days on here. Haven't been able to get on much due to work :sad2: What was the first thing I did this morning after I woke up. Spent almost 1.5 hours catching up :surfweb:. Now it looks like Part 6 will be starting soon.

I'll wait until part 6 starts to post the trivia question.

Welcome to those new joiners and those that are re-joining us. It's getting closer :cool1:

For those that have been through some difficult times or health issues. Thoughts and prayers with you.

For fellow Canadian Dis'ers:
Happy Victoria Day
Hope everyone has had a pleasant, fun, safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

Jon

I see that a part 6 thread has already been started :confused3 ....did you all want this thread closed so that part 6 can be utilized?
Thanks

Please keep this thread alive until we reach the max number of posts, which at this rate will be in a couple of days! The new thread was created so that key info would be unquestionably placed on Page 1 for easy retrieval reference. We won't use it until we have to. :)

Thanks for asking!

Unfortunately my wife and I will have to cancel this cruise due to her Mom becoming sick and not able to watch our children while we cruise. We were so looking forward to this, but her Mom's health is far more important. Not really sure how this works but I will call DVC and see how the points get refunded. Hope you all have the best cruise ever!! I will pm Eric with our cancellation so no lanyard needed.

HAVE FUN!!!

I think our Captain is being very efficient! As others have said I think we're all happy to keep this open as long as possible as we are likely to get to Thread 10 by September this way!
