Hello people

Not sure how many remember me - I'm Laura AKA eeyorelvr10. Seems Steve and I will be going on this cruise as final payment was finally made. I feel like I've been off DIS for years. Been on another site and avoided this one. Forgot how slow it can get. But at least I'm here and hoping to see some familiar faces on the cruise. I will be playing catch soon as DD gets out of school on June 3 and I will finally have some play time.

Anythign I've missed and need to sign up for? :rolleyes1 Or is it all too late?

Take care and talk soon

Dont worry Laura.....You know where to find me if you have any questions!! I sent you an email so hopefully it will help. Cant wait to see you and Steve in September!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Hi everyone!

My shoulder is back to 100%, thankfully! It hurt a little at the Disney Store yesterday while I was working but nothing too bad. It must have been a muscle that I pulled...I hope I don't pull it again!

Kimberly, it's so nice to see you posting again! I missed you!

FE question. What I am planning on doing, I believe I will have enough for all of the cabins so is there a way I can get a list of all of the staterooms/Dis names for everyone participating in the FE? It may or may not work out, but I was just wondering if it would be possible.

Spent the day with my husband and it was so nice. We had lunch at the Olive Garden (I love their soup, salad and breadsticks meal) and then visited Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe's. We had a great time just walking around.

In one week from right now, I'll be in New York City seeing "Glee" in concert! I can't wait!!! I love that show!!! My sister and I are going up for the day so it should be exciting. I haven't been to NYC for over a year and a half so it will be nice. They are playing at Radio City Music Hall so I'm excited to go there again. It should be fun!

I hope everyone is having a great day! :)

Quick Question regarding Fish Extenders that has me completely confused. I am trying to personalize mine and I see people on Roll Call - they have one dis name, but 2-3 cabins - Does each cabin/family get one, each dis name or how does that work because then I have like 20 or more people! Ahhh! I will have to go back to the store. :headache: Not that I mind, but I want to make sure I am right or wrong. HELP!!!!!:scared1:

Welcome back!! I think you got back in time to join everything. The only thing sort of closed is the lanyards but I believe Erik was going to order extras and offer them on a first come basis. The fish extenders are split into manageable groups (for weight transporting purposes) and I believe there is still a group open there. Shirt deadline is coming soon.

I met some wonderful Diser's on my DD two years ago. Many of us keep in touch through FB and some will be on this trip. Already feeling like I'm getting to know a lot more friends for this cruise and can't wait to meet everyone!!!

Got a hold of Erik and he's fantastic! :worship: Taken care of there and finally went to the website to sign up but did a quick perusal. Coming back later

I haven't been to Long Beach, so it must have been my "twin"! :) My last cruise was Sept '08, and it was with family, but there were only three of us. Sounds like that group was a fun group to have had flower shirts on though! We'll meet this time!

Sorry Kimberly. Must of been the Buckeye thing. Someone else on the DIS uses something to do with Buckeye....they explained something about it being a mascot, or something prominantly. See - the mind is a terrible thing to waste. Your on! This time I hope I get to meet a lot more people than last time. It was funny - 2 weeks on the ship and I had a hard time meeting up with people.

Welcome back Eeyorelvr10! I am sure you will get caught up! We are having fun every day learning something new or just talking about the cruise, cooking, dogs, kids - whatever floats your boat! :goodvibes

Dogs, books and Mickey. Not necessarily in that order.

Hiya Laura. Welcome to the group.

Thank you all! I so feel the love tonight. pirate:

Depending on the type of gift you are giving, it will either 1 per cabin, 1 per person, or maybe even 1 per disname. Some of us are doing an individual gift per person. Some have put together a "family" type gift with several things that will be shared by the gift receivers. Your call, not "right" or "wrong".

:cutie:

I love Schwan's, but not sure if we are talking about the same thing. The food delivery service?

Yes same thing - I got picked to be a "house party" for them through houseparty.com - like the ones they had for DCL! It was cool - they gave me over $100 worth of food to have the party and everybody loved everything!

Angie good point, Euros have to be done, hmmm CAA/AAA, perhaps.

Are travelers cheques in Euros a good or bad idea for Barcelona and Madeira? seasoned travelers spread your knowledge, please and thank you, :)

Pj

though we are not doing Barcelona before hand I would not try to plan ahead for Maderia with Euros - if you have USD Travelers cheques then you can exchange those on the ship if you need to - and then when you get home if you have any USD travelers cheques left then you can just deposit them into your account and not have to exchange them back from Euros.

I think we all need to relax more. That's why we are going on a cruise with all those sea days!!! :woohoo::woohoo: It will all work out, provided I do not forget to take my passport with me!!

I thought we would relax on the sea days but they were filled with lots of activities (provided you get up before noon! - the down time was in the mornings) I relaxed more on port days - doing a small excursion and then hanging around the ship - go figure!

I personally don't really like the split bathroom either. The actual bathroom size is larger but because its split it makes the 2 rooms smaller and I find I always end up not knowing where to put things then having to search for things.

Because we have 2 kids with us I love the split bathroom - I assign each person a bathroom to keep their stuff in and brush teeth, wash face, etc. it works out better for us that way and then all each person's stuff is in a bathroom and then I use the shelf under the sink in the toliet room to keep all the "extra" things everyone may need. And then hanging bag is on the clothes hook outside the bathroom (I use a hanging zippered jewelry bag - 2-sided instead of a shoe organizer because I can pack it at home and zip it up! made life much easier this last cruise!)

I believe this is being done at the Parrot Cay Lunch on the last sea day

ok thanks - it was not one of the things listed as going on so I was not sure.

To everyone recovering - feel better soon and keeping everyone in my prayers!

Krisann

Thanks for the tips on St. Thomas vs. St. Johns. I like a beach with a lot of room, spoiled I guess.

Also, Buckeye Gal - I want to sign the scrapbook page - how fun!! I am taking a scrapbook page for the Captain to sign too!!! Great ideas from everybody.

I cannot believe Lyn made the tart already. I am impressed!!! It sounded delicious!

I have to head off to the scrapbook store.;)
I keep forgetting to ask - is it too late to sign up for the tea?

I asked for 14 spots. We shall see if the concierge can pull it off or not. As soon as I hear I will let you all know!

Glad to hear that you are feeling better! You have to stay clear of muscle strains and pulls for the next 17 weeks...

Sure! I will keep updating the lists as long as people are being added, getting cabin assignments, changing cabins, and requesting to be in more than one group!

I hope everyone is having a great day! :)

Thanks! HOT, HUMID and sunny here in Canton, GA. Guess this is why they call Atlanta HOTlanta...Summer is here, and the kids are ready to be out of school. We finish up on Friday, so it will be a g\nice holiday weekend!!

Great to hear your shoulder is better. I shop at both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but my favorite is Mollie Stone's which is owned by DD's best friends parents. http://molliestones.com/

Here's an updated list of overnight accommodations in Barcelona and arrival dates that have been provided to me. This should help people who may want to share rides from the airport or meet up at your hotel or apartment before we cruise! :goodvibes

I've been challenged to get the image to come in as a better quality and bigger, so I apologize for the poor quality. So if you have a PC and you need to magnify it, press [Ctrl] and [+] keys together. To reduce the size of your screen of back to where it was, press [Ctrl] and [-] keys together. I'm not sure what the commands are if you have a Mac (sorry!).

Sue will get this up on Page 1 of this thread in the near future so there's one go-to place to find the list, however, I thought this round, I would post it here to bring attention to it. If you have modifications or want to be included on the list, just PM me! (Sue, unless you ask otherwise, I'll just assume you'll copy the image file location. In the future, I'll just PM you the updated link.)

As a reminder, the color coding of the last column is for the arrival date, and the other color coding is based on the place you'll be saying "I'm too excited to sleep!". :woohoo:

Great news that your shoulder's feeling better!

I've missed being on here, too, but it helped having people like you and others on FB to keep up with!

Oh I *know* you are over-the-top with excitement to see Glee! I'm sure you and Beth will have an amazing time! I haven't been to NYC for a couple of years myself, so I'm very jealous!

....Sorry Kimberly. Must of been the Buckeye thing. Someone else on the DIS uses something to do with Buckeye....they explained something about it being a mascot, or something prominantly......

No worries!

I will take the opportunity to educate some of you on what a buckeye is, however! ;) (Stay with me friends! :rotfl:)

Ohio's state tree is the buckeye tree. It has leaves that frankly look similiar to special leaves some countries allow you to legally smoke :scared1: and poisonous nuts called buckeyes. The nut is inside of the balls you see hanging from this tree.

IMGP0307.jpg

Since the buckeye tree is the state tree, The Ohio State University does have a mascot named Brutus Buckeye. Furthermore, in honor of the state nut, a special treat that a lot of people primarily make during the Christmas holiday season (because it's so labor intensive) are buckeye candies! Harry London Chocolates and Anthony Thomas Chocolates, both based in Ohio, also manufacture them. They are balls of peanut butter candy covered in chocolate, with just the very top of the PB ball exposed so it looks like the tree nut. They are SOOOO good, and all of you who love Reese's Cups in the US would LOVE these!

BuckeyeCandy4.jpg

So there's your yummy lesson about buckeyes! :thumbsup2 (See....it wasn't THAT painful to get a lesson....unless you eat them! The treadmill could be painful to keep the calories off the thighs!)

DH John and I have never seen a Buckeye tree or nut before or heard of the candy even though his family is from Ohio.

I have a Kukui nut necklace from Ohio that some have asked me if they are Buckeyes. Is that what they look like out of the shell?

I can imagine it's getting hot and humid in GA. It was humid here today but not hot...we have the A/C on but that's because we don't get a breeze inside of our apartment.

OK, silly question for the ladies... I started getting my nails done when I got married in October. I've been getting my nails filled every two weeks since then. Do you know if I would be able to get my nails filled in the spa? And if so, any idea how much it might be?

You've never heard of any variation of a buckeye?!! Wow!

I believe kukui nuts are mostly from Hawaii and known as a popular lei there. I'm 99% sure kukui trees are Hawaii's state tree, too.

You'll see on the keychain below what a real buckeye looks like. I made these for some of the adults on my last cruise by drilling a hole through them and then threading the string through it. They do have to dry out before you drill them though. As you can see, it's brown with a tan top and irregular in it's roundness.

As far as I know, Kukui nut trees only grow in Hawaii. I have heard of Buckeyes but never seen them before. It is somewhat similar to the Kukui isn't it?

Just my thoughts....

ok I want people to tell me if I am just crazy or if what we do makes sense to anyone else because on the EBTA when someone saw us do this they got really freaked out.

I know disney tells you that you only need to have your Key to the World and "photo ID" which most people from the US take their DL - but when we go off the ship (even on closed loop cruises) we take our passports with us (copies remain on board of the ship) because if something would happen to us, accident, get arrested for doing something we did not know was wrong (has happened - not to us) miss the boat, or anything that you might need your passport to prove who you are and get back to the states by plane if need be.

Are we the only ones who think this way? I just don't want to get caught in a strange country with no citizenship "papers" so to speak to prove where I belong.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the lesson, now I will give you a history lesson on USC Football - ha ha ha!!! You know I love ya - already starting smack talk before we even enter Diversions.:dance3:

We too have the AC on - and we get a breeze... But it was 78 with 80% humidity last night and I thought I would expire...

As for nails... I too get mine doine ever 2 - 3 weeks. If I remember right, they do not offer fills on board. I am getting mine done riht before we leave As in the polish will still be wet... Iam taking Becca to get hers done (just polish) the Sunday night before we leave. I figure we will finish packing the night before, and then do the lst minute stuff untio about 11. Then we have 2.5 hours before we grab the kids and head to the airport. In that 2.5 hours I need to convince DH that he needs a spa pedicure. That way we can both go. Also, I am doing color on the tips - like a french but with color. I am also bringing polish so I can go and get a polish only if needed. I think if you bring your own polish it is pretty cheap.

We think the same way We always carry our passports on shore everywhere except Castaway Cay. We don't take DL 's off the ship as they are not a form of ID anywhere in Europe.

I agree with you 100% - it would be your only form of ID because I do not take my driver's license, credit card does not supply much and Key To the World, I cannot imagine a foreign police officer taking that to heart. You are not the only one that thinks this way. I believe some people say it is Disney, we are safe 100% of the time. I'd like to think we are, but in a foreign country, you never know.
