I know what you mean. I was in that position last year that I could only spare one day for Seaworld. Before we bought into DVC, we always stayed on International Drive and I would go to Seaworld for at least a couple of hours pretty much every day. So I really made my pass count then. Now that we stay onsite, I tend to concentrate on Disney. I have the horrible feeling that I may not make it to Seaworld at all this year as we only have 5 days in Florida after the cruise.

Corinna

You lucky girl, getting to go so often! I'd love to visit Shamu everyday......I also love visiting Mickey everyday though. :thumbsup2

I thought all our friends from Scotland would get a kick out of this advert that I just received in my e-mail:

GHOSTour to SCOTLAND, our long-awaited Haunted Week of Horrors Vacation for travelers of all ages -- is only 1 year away. Join us May 8-1, 2011 for what should is the ultimate spooktacular adventure to one of the scariest and most notorious locales in the United Kingdom. Hosted by Charles F. Rosenay!!! ("Cryptmaster Chiller Chucky") and TV personality/paranormal investigator Richard Felix ("Most Haunted"), this first-ever GHOSTour of Scotland follows in the haunted footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots & Bonnie Prince Charles.

Few places in the world are as spooky as Scotland. The country's murky past involved clan battles, hundreds of years of war and the siege of grim-looking castles in almost every part of the country. Stories were told and traditions established. There are tales of ghosts, many of whom were said to be the spirits of real people who died in tragic or horrific circumstances, of apparitions that appear at certain times of the night, or certain periods of the year - perhaps when they were murdered, and of strange, eerie sounds that pierce the chilled Scottish air. The hauntings seem to have no set boundaries. Ghosts have been reported on bleak roads, in old theatres and ancient graveyards. Join us as we pay some of these spirited sites a visit and judge for yourself. If you are brave enough!

We will explore the Underground City and take the best ghost walks. Some of the places we visit include Greyfriars Church & Cemetery, home of the McZenzie poltergeist; Holly Rood, where Mary Queen of Scot's secretary was stabbed and where the bloodstains still remain; Inverness, for the Highlands Ghostwalk and possibly an encounter with the Lochness Monster; the St Andrews Ghostwalk; and we will spend time at Edinburgh Castle and Mary King's Close, Edinburgh. Combine this with independent late-night séances, visits to graveyards, on-board classic ghost & genre films, a monster mash masquerade ball farewell party and other surprises, and you've got what is one of the most memorable macabre tour in haunted history.
:lmao: weve done the witchery tour in edinburgh, and let me tell you it IS scary, my dn was so scared my dad had to sit in the car with her for an hour and a half:lmao:
Any way I can have Johnny Depp on my chest is way cool!!! :lmao::lmao::rotfl:
Can we wear the t-shirt inside out:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::thumbsup2
Hi there. You mentioned taking orders for a few more weeks...does that mean through the end of May? It's been a busy few weeks and haven't had as much time to focus on the boards and this wonderful trip because of our exciting upcoming trip at the end of this week. Our nephew is getting married on May 17 at WDW. We will all be heading to Florida on Friday and enjoying Hoop-Dee-Doo on Saturday for the "rehearsal dinner," tea party at Grand Floridian for wedding shower on Sunday and then the wedding on Monday at Sea Breeze Point at the Boardwalk...reception at California Grill in the Contemporary. Our 3 kids (all grown) will be there too so it's the first family trip since before the kids went to college; we will be staying the rest of the week to enjoy WDW. When we come back (and recover from this trip with almost 30 family members at WDW!) we look forward to more actively planning and anticipating this trip !! (BTW, I've mentioned before that ReAnSt and I were on the same cruise with Bareacuda in 2007 --and we don't know each other...but small small world, I believe I remember ReAnSt saying she will be at WDW next week too...very small world). I'll catch up (best as I can) when we get home on the 23rd ! :)
Have fun.
I think I will skip this one. :scared1: Scotland would be nice to see, but a nice visit with Lynn would be better! :goodvibes
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2anytime, we love visitors.
Is this Anstruther Fife? I ask because in January 1989, I took a collage course/trip in "Museum Operation Management" led by my Accounting and Economics professors that took us to London, St Andrews (I went to St. Andrews College in North Carolina thus the connection) and Edinburgh. While the course itself was a great reason to visit lots of museums in the various cities, we did do a couple of additional items. As part of our class, we spent a day working in the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther Fife. I can't think of many places that were colder in January than it was out on those docks!

Yip, thats it, the museum is still there.
Yes, it is cold sometimes thats for sure!
Isnt it a funny little world?

Just wanted to let you all know that I broke the rules - it was not intentional and I have remedied the situation. The DISign for the Tasting shirts was done by Jordak. I had no clue that we couldn't use these for shirts that were being charged for. Thanks to Corrina for letting me know.

Long story short, I have reached out to Jordak, who has let me know that as long as no one in our group profits from the shirts that in her eyes we are clear to use her DISign.

I am trying to figure out who else I need to get with to make this happen, but I really don't want anyone to get into trouble over this.

So, stand by on the tasting shirts while I figure out if we can use the DISign without breaking any of the rules.

Im heading to the doghouse to sit a spell...

Sue

Yep. I remember one year when Dennis was attending USC the Bruins came over before "the big game" took a torch to Tommy Trojan and put his sword in his back! So, Trojans went to UCLA campus changed all the signs for the pep rally to a different location and when the team and band showed up...no fans. :rotfl: Then Tommy Trojan was guarded for a week after that caper. So, what did the rascal Bruins come up with???? They flew over in a helicopter and dumped blue paint on him!!:lmao: So, now you will see Tommy Trojan all wrapped up in canvas AND guarded the week before USC/UCLA game. And what did the Trojans then come up with?? They got into UCLA computer and changed the card stunt program so that up in the top corner of every stunt was a "USC". :rotfl: Fun times. I think someone might go to jail for some of that stuff these days.

I think you could go to jail nowadays. My husband graduated in '96 and Tommy was covered up with sheets and stuff, but nothing funny even happened. They slowly have done away with holding the bear and beating it (I know that sounds violent) but there were only a handful at that time doing it. It sounds like a blast what you are describing.

Sparky47 - The wedding sounds like so much fun!!! It isn't suppose to rain here - just hot!! You will have a fantastic time!

Has anyone ever had their vows renewed onboard? I was wondering how that worked. I can't this time because I will be by myself but I thought one day it might be fun.

Of course not!

As you can see, I have a split personality. My brother, sister, and I all went to UCLA (DS and I graduated - but that's another story!). My DD #1 and I both graduated from UCF and DD #3 goes there now. Good thing they're not in the same conference! :lmao:

Same as us, two conferences to follow - twice the fun!!! :cheer2:

I actually purchased insurance privately as well, but alas did not do so in time to get preexisting condition or cancel for any reason coverage. My mom has been in and out of the hospital for the past month or so, with the last episode being worse than the ones before, and I'm concerned something may happen to her that will prevent us from going. Unfortunately her condition worsened after I'd already paid the remaining balance. Plus there's always the possibility that my DH, who has been unemployed for well over a year now, could find a job that won't let him take 2 1/2 weeks off in September. With the DCL insurance, even if we end up canceling for one of those reasons (which wouldn't be covered under private insurance purchased at this point), we should at least preserve what we paid for the cruise itself, since they give you a credit for uninsured losses toward a future cruise. Our airfare covered under the private insurance would probably still be at risk of loss, but it's half what the cruise cost is. Obviously I'm concerned enough to feel that the loss of the $400 OBC was justified in getting the insurance added one way or another.
Oh, I see. A really unique situation. Hope all goes well for you and that you won't need to use the insurance. Will add your mom to our prayers.

How about a vow renewal? Mind, I don't think you need one after all these years!!:rotfl2:

Odd you say that. Our kids and friends had a surprise party for us on our 40th anniversary. Now, I know lots and lots of folks have vow renewals and that is it very meaningful to them, but.....well, part of the surprise was our minister was there and they planned a vow renewal for us. We had NEVER talked about this between the two of us (Dennis and I), but when they told us about the plan we both looked at each other and grimmaced. We both had exactly the same reaction and thoughts.....neither of us ever broke our vows (any of them - I even continue to honor;)) and we are certain they don't expire so why would we need to renew them....they are not old or stale??? So, the minister read our reaction, took us aside and told us that our children want to share this since they were not able to be there at the wedding. Oh, ok....we did our best to seem sincere and not ruin it for them. But to us, the first vows took just fine.

as Noel would say....just my thoughts. I know we are just plain weird! :lmao:

I like the way you put that - feelings and emotions. Totally changed my point of view - you are right, they were not broken. The first time was a charm, why try to recreate. Okay, I am with you.

Not weird at all!!! That is just how we feel. We have so called famous people who seem to have vow renewal every year or so!! Hilarious really. The photos always end up in the glossy celebrity magazines.:confused3;) Then the marriage breaks down, yet again. Such a shame.

Same as us, two conferences to follow - twice the fun!!! :cheer2:

I don't think you are weird at all as I feel pretty much the same way. I think we make a choice every single day to honor those vows.

John and I are going to be married 25 years on Jul 4. People have asked us if we are going to renew our vows. I feel the vows we took 25 years ago are even stronger now with all our shared history. I love to celebrate our anniversary but in a more private way. :lovestruc

Just my thoughts...

Big thank you to everyone for all the good wishes. We have Becky home with us again for the summer while she recovers. Her exams have been delayed til September so I'm hoping she manages to regain her strength by then. x

She is in the right place for now. Lots of mother love and care. Don't forget to take some time out for yourself.

Sue - Just to keep you out of the doghouse a bit more, Jordak is a guy, not a gal. He was super nice and helped me out with a difficult Phineas & Ferb design I'd worked up.

Hey Everyone...

So this is your weekly lanyard update! :lmao:

I have continued to have information and confirmations (and a couple of last minute requests) trickle in via PM & email and so I have been diligently updating the spreadsheet. To view the most current version of it, you can click HERE.

You will notice that I have added a 4th column to the chart to indicate whether folks have confirmed their information (and that they're still cruising) with me or not. The list of folks who are still a question mark for me has gotten very much smaller (thankfully!:thumbsup2). The only people I'm still not sure of are:

alexturner74
Dis-Bits
figment795
Harvey
KAP158
KellyJeanDVC
LadyPoo
OKWJIM
Tigger795
YodaMouse

I have sent PM's to all of them with no response....but today I actually took the time to sift through all the old emails at the wbtalanyards@yahoo.com account and find their original requests. I was able to find the original emails from everyone EXCEPT YodaMouse, Harvey, and Dis-Bits....so I have sent them all emails to their personal email addresses (which hopefully they check more often their their DIS PM's) and will hopefully hear back from them.

Just an update that at this point we have 218 people signed up for lanyards so far...so that will definitely help inform how many extra I order so that we have a chance to give lanyards to anyone who signs up later in the game! :cool1:

Evening all. Sorry haven't really had time to catch up as you've all been very chatty. My Grandmother unexpetantly passed away on Sunday night so with this and exams next week I'm not sure Ill be around much but just wanted to say hi to everyone! I will try and keep popping it. As it is the funeral is on Thursday afternoon next week (exams Wednesday and Thursday morning) so hopefully after that will get a chance to pop back over! Please don't type too much in the mean time

So sorry for your loss. Let the tears flow. I know what you are going through as my grandmother passed away unexpectantly on my birthday this past January. I was numb as I helped my mother plan the funeral, but the day before the funeral I went to the funeral home for the viewing early and just stood over her and cried my eyes out. Did me a world of good.

Hi everyone!

I'm sitting in a book store right now drinking green tea waiting for Dave to finish with work. I feel badly, I'm having a relaxing day while he's stuck at work.

I hope everyone is having a good day! :)
