Hi fellow Texan,

Di and I are arriving at 8:55 AM on 16th. and staying at same hotel. :thumbsup2

Walt :cool1:

We may see you in the airport... We will be the ones with all the luggage... :rotfl: and two grumpy kids... We too arrive at 855am on the 16th.

Sue

Good Morning,

We have been told that it is possible to walk, although the tunnels are quiete aways from the monkey reserve, and if you get a cab as I had mentioned they include all those destinations and admission tickets in your drive....also be aware that the cable car is 25 Euro for 2 and only gets you to one place - it does seem very cool however, if it is money you are concerned with, taking the private shuttle/taxi is your best bet. The private vehicle then drops you off in the the middle of the shopping area.
Denise
This sounds like a great deal. Sounds like the shuttle/taxi stays with you all day.

So that means in 18 weeks we'll have landed in Netherlands to begin the journey:cool1:
When we went in 2008 we got our anniversary buttons at WDW the week before the cruise and wore them for the cruise as well. Wait a minute that 2 years ago at this time, which means today is our anniversary.
Happy Anniversary Candida:lovestruc
Jon
:rotfl2: That's one way to remember!
Happy Anniversary!
I wonder if they have anniversary pins on the cruise?

To be perfectly honest, I'm a little afraid of how we can fit lanyards AND fish extender gifts, as well....so the truth is that our fish extender gifts will probably be simple and small=====>since in essence the lanyards and all the work and organizing that goes into them is kind of an informal gift to everyone (who gets them) no matter WHAT fish extender fruit group we end up in!! :lmao::thumbsup2

If you guys need to I can probably fit a portion of the lanyards in my carry on bag. more than willing to squeeze them in, just let me know!

Sue

thanks for these great tips! And, I am very glad you are back safe. So sorry to hear about all the water you folks are having to deal with. Sounded today like it is not over yet. Will keep you all in our prayers.

Thanks - we are in West Tennessee and most of our flooding happened saturday and sunday but Nashville has more rivers than us and therefore things are worse there - things are still bad in where we live for us - just not as bad.

Krisann[/QUOTE]

Hi Krisann - Glad you finally made it home! hope that you guys stay dry. The flodding here NW of Atlanta has been awful!

Just wanted to check in and let y'all know that I am not going to have time to put together the info on Gibraltar that I had hoped to put together.

I've had to go to my folks house out of state as they are both needing a little TLC at the moment.

My original plan was to be back home in time to make the excursion ressies, hopefully that will work out.

If one of the platinum group wouldn't mind.... Could you post a list of when the afternoon teas will be offered so we can decide on a time to try for?
Thanks!

I don't suppose the DCL contact who will be arranging the tastings could help us out with a private tea time?

I can get with the concierge in about 10 days and will see if they can help get the tea arranged for us. Do we have a sea deay preference?

I know my problems are small considering, but I need to figure out how to bring my hair dryer. If I wrap it like I do when I'm on my way to Disney, I'll put it in bubble wrap and then wrap it with soft clothes. It takes a huge amount of room, but when I go to Disney, I don't have to bring anything but clothes. I have an Owners Locker.

John just can't get the locker to Barcelona.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: So I'm going to have to bring my shampoo, conditioner, all the other hair stuff. I'm wondering if I should put the delicate attachment in my carry-on case? :confused3:confused3:confused3

And no, although the Disney products are wonderful, they just are not made for my hair. I need room for shoes! Last time I forgot my regular shoes and had to wear my Crocs to Palo!! (At least they matched my outfit perfectly):lmao::lmao:

Two weeks of clothes, formal wear, pirate wear, shoes, hair dryer! Are two bags going to be enough??????:lmao::lmao:

One thing I did to help keep from taking the BIG bottles I found little bottles at the dollar tree for my shampoo/conditioner and filled them - then used them from those bottles to see how much I used over the same amount of time we were going to be gone (3 weeks) and adjust the bottle size up or down as needed (or add a 2nd bottle). Then these bottles can be thrown away at the end of the trip - I did have a hotel size bottle filled in my carry on in case we got stuck a night or two somewhere (which we did).

I am not sure what kind of suitcase you are taking but I would recommend getting at least one rolling duffle with a drop bottom - I put all the shoes into the drop bottom and it works great - I also pack things into the shoes. And really really think about the clothes you are taking - we really did not need alot of things - we did wear them - but just because we had them and after lugging luggage in europe I can wear things more than once - this time we are going to send clothes out to be laundered each morning - they do not charge more for one piece a day than a bag full each day.

The little things is what ended up taking up the most room for us!

Also one thing that really helped us with weight issues in the suitcases was that we had a "smaller" suitcase (actually a bugout bag) that was soft sided that we were able to put all the heavy stuff into - books, FE gifts, magnets, etc. and we stuffed it full and never got it above 37 pounds - and it had ALL the heavy (and some clothes for cushion if needed) and it allowed the rolling duffles to have lighter weight things.

Now one other thing is - how much is it for an additional bag? Just chalk that up to part of the trip cost - we did that - just one extra bag - the biggest and too the weight - to get the most of our money - once we decided to just pay it - my stress level went way down on that issue. If I can pay $70 for bingo - then I could pay $50 for an extra luggage!

You could put a note on your case, I am not sure they would take much notice though.
But if it puts your mind at rest, I have to put most things in my case, Hairdryers, sat navs, you name it, they all have to go in and so far have been fine.

I couldnt agree more.

Just a note before the next doctor!

Not sure how things are getting scheduled out, but I thought it might be nice to do earlier in the trip to get to know people.

Thanks for checking on this. :goodvibes

Hi, I laminate first, then put strips of magnetic tape to the back, but this is my first cruise, so I don't know how they'll hold up.
Hopefully a veteran cruiser will be along soon to let you know their tricks :thumbsup2

This is exactly how we do it as well and they hold up great on the cabin doors.

It might be easier to ask me questions :) I have not even started on my trip report which is on my list to do.

Here are some packing tips I posted already:

Having just gotten back from the EBTA trip yesterday (and 4 days at DW before and 4 days at Disneyland Paris after) and flying several different airlines and through different airports here is some lessons I learned:

most important item I took was an electronic scale that had both KG and LBS on it - got it from amazon for $20 = was able to help other Diser's out also - good investment!

If you booked your ticket through one airline - but are flying on a "partner" you must go by that partner's luggage rules most of the time - check on it!

in Europe carry-on sizes are different - meaning smaller! and some of the airlines do not allow a personal item - only one item - and we had jackets with us and did not have them on and they made us put them on at the checkpoint (then we had to take them off at the scanners) and also some airlines are very strict on the weight of the items - many say you can only have a carry on that weighs a certain amount and they weigh them when you check in and tag the item so the gate people know it is approved.

For our next trip we are going to have the largest size bag we are allowed on the smallest requirement of the airlines we are flying and have a "personal" bag that we slip in it of things we will want to have at our seat for the flight (games, book, etc.) that we will take out before we put our bag in the overhead.

And also if you are a elite member in an airline but are flying on a partner they will not always recognize the same benifits you have on your airline even if you booked the ticket through them. We are Delta elite members and booked our tickets through delta but had flights on KLM and Airfrance and Delta - and different rules apply.

Now to start packing differenlty for the WBTA! We had too much and over the next 4 months we will be doing test runs this time and walking up and down our driveway with our bags to see if we can manage it all ourselves.

We use packing cubes - love them - and not because I cannot pack but because it keeps us organized - especially since we cross pack - and it helps me with the unpacking. I also took some smaller ones to put little items and papers into that I brought back - it was great!

One more thing - make a detailed list of every last thing you have in your bags - we had 2 bags get lost during this trip on different flights and did not remember everything in them. One was found - still waiting on word on the other one - glad we had insurance as the airline only would pay $250 but the insurance pays $1000.

Krisann

I am so glad you reminded everyone about the size and weight of the bags. Air Berlin allows only one carry on which much weigh 13lbs, 30z without computer or 17lbs 10 oz bs or less if you have a computer. The size must be no more than 21.7 x 15.7 x 7.9. It was extremely hard to find a rolling bag that small. Our weighs 6.2 lbs empty. Lucky we only have a few hours we need to use this restriction as we stay overnight in Frankfort before we fly to Barcelona.

Air Berlin only allows one checked bag per person. Extra bag fee is 150 Euros!!!

Your reminder about making lists of everything in your bags is excellent. We not only make lists, we have photos of everything we take as well as a list of replacement costs.

I always feel that trip insurance is one of those things you will never need unless you don't buy the insurance.

Just my thoughts....

It has been so busy around here that I cannot seem to catch up with you guys. las weekend was my grandson's 1st birthday party. He is such a joy. I had intended to make his cake, but last minute my Dil decided we should have cupcakes instead. Wow, it was a huge success and none were left over. I made mickey heads and put his picture in them and then put them on top of the cupcake. Very cute. I airbrushed the cupcakes, some were yellow and the others red. Will not be doing that again. The overspray was everywhere and I even covered the counter and made a mock paint booth.

The is weekend my niece graduates with her doctorate (she is the one coming with us on this cruise) in Physical Therapy. I am making her cakes and doing her party, so once again I will not be able to catch up with you guys.

Please know that I am interested in getting to know you guys before we cruise and I hope to be able to do that in the next few weeks. If there is anything I can do to assit with this cruise please feel free to ask. Although some of the ports are different from the last one I was on, I am somewhat familiar with this cruise. My name used to be faireygod mother, but I lost my password and changed my email and tech support could not help me. So, I changed my identity to protect the guilty;)

Your cupcakes sound so gorgeous!! I wish I were that clever but I am a "baking challenged" individual. I love to cook but hate to bake.

If you have any pics of the cupcakes, I would love to see them.

OMG! Thanks so much Krisann. No truer statemnt has been said. And since we played that $70.00 bingo game, I now know I won't be playing bingo this trip. I'll play it for luggage!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I just checked Swiss Air site and still showing 2 checked bags each (up to 50 lbs) and one carry on. Hope they don't change before we fly. The size of the checked is 62 inches over all. Our 30 in bags are just under that by an inch.

If you are flying Delta, DI and I will be looking for you...:thumbsup2

Exciting...:goodvibes

Walt :cool1:

We are flying Delta. Maybe we need to wear something that has our DIS names on it so you can pick us out in the crowd (or avoid us if the kids are acting up...)

Very exciting indeed!!!

Pirate costumes for the girls of the house have arrived :dance3: and been tried on, and they fit!!:dance3: We can leave at any time now!:dance3:

Pardon my outburst, please resume the normal chatter... :rotfl:
