I have not checked into the weather for the complete trip - but one hing I would do differently is not to take clothes for "just in case"

We will each be taking a extra thin jacket from Lands End that I found that goes down to 20 degrees so it is warm and thin! But besides that nothing else warm so to speak. We will be in Salzburg/Munich/Amsterdam the week before the cruise so we will need the coats.

I found that even if it was chilly outside we still wore shorts inside the ship during the day.

We are also not taking as many formal/semi formal dresses as we did - nobody else really cares if we are in the same outfit 2 different nights - and they are far enough apart that the fun part is the dressing up.

As for the semi formal night we are oing to wear our linen outfits that we have with some extra accessories - the outfits can be dressed up and down so we will also wear them some for casual nights too.

Also this may seem like a weird thing - but we will take less socks with us. We ended up wearing our crocks or sandals most of the time and no need really for many socks!

Krisann

Thanks Krisann, I did read your message about packing and weight limits on another thread! I need to research those packing cubes!
As for the clothing info, Thanks!!! I was reading about people being cold on some EBTA blogs and thought I'd have to bring lots of warm stuff, Good to know that 1 jacket or cardigan should do it.
Also glad to know that 1 formal dress will be OK, I'm sure no one will be looking at me when Mickey and Minnie are there so, I agree, 1 dress and accesorize!!! :thumbsup2

Krissann, did you have the weight limit/baggage issues when you were flying home from Europe or on your domestic flights?

Glad you're home safely but I'm sorry to hear about the storm damage.

yes you have to be careful with the weight and we purchased a scale. If you are just flying from the US to spain depending on your airline things are like flying domestic - except that most give you one bag free when flying out of the country. If you are flying an airline that is european - read their rules very closely about carryon bags - many have a weight limit and they stick to it!

Also - please please cross pack! we had 2 bags on 2 different flights go missing for 1 - 6 days - you just never know. And if you are not buying insurance read about the liability with the airline.

My husbands bag went missing after the airline sent it out for baggage claim, therefore they had no responibility BUT we had trip insurance and they covered this. I have learned alot about baggage rules.

Cat 12 is now showing available for our cruise, though not at the ridiculously cheap prices we've seen after the PIF dates. Shows available for both party of 2 and party of 4 (I didn't check anything else.) A party of 4 booked in a Cat 11 may save $60 or so by downgrading to a Cat 12 (but not enough to risk losing OBCs or anything.)

Hi Heather,

Joined Paid Club today. :thumbsup2

Say Hi to Rick for Us. :grouphug:

Walt :cool1:
:welcome: to the club!!!:goodvibes

Forgot to mention that as of about noon today, we are also PAID IN FULL for both our cruises (last Med w/ ABD and the WBTA). Hooray!!:cool1::cool1:
:welcome: to the club!.:goodvibes

To be perfectly honest, I'm a little afraid of how we can fit lanyards AND fish extender gifts, as well....so the truth is that our fish extender gifts will probably be simple and small=====>since in essence the lanyards and all the work and organizing that goes into them is kind of an informal gift to everyone (who gets them) no matter WHAT fish extender fruit group we end up in!! :lmao::thumbsup2
To be perfectly honest, I think with all of the work you are doing on the lanyards, and then the ties and vests, you should get a bye on the fish extender gifts!!! You guys totally rock.:thumbsup2:cool1::thumbsup2:cool1:

Hello! I wanted to check in. We are back from our DisneyWorld/EBTA/Disneyland Paris trip. We had bumps along the road coming home and got home a day late (thank goodness for trip insurance) - that was on Wed. and then I have been sick ever since then - then on Friday the storms/tornado warnings/flooding started. We have spent the past few days battling the water in the basement and then a tree fell on our pool area - destroying the wrought iron fence in 1 place and damaging 2 other pieces. We are now packing up one room in the basement (the office/school room - we homeschool) and moving it into another room so we can take up the carpet and put down new flooring.

Needless to say I have no had time to get on the boards really and my time schedule is still off.

I will try to go back and read through the thread but not sure how long it will take me - all I know for sure is this time last week I was in Paris - and I want to go back!

I am starting to pack for this cruise though - I will pack differently for this cruise than the EBTA.

Oh and yes we did officially book while onboard - we are in a cat 10 GTY.

Krisann
Wow what an ordeal. Glad you are back safe and sound and thnaks for the packing tips.:goodvibes

Cat 11 for 3 has dropped $125.00, but that is with the fuel surcharge perviously and no fuel charge now. Likely hood of getting fuel surcharge back as OBC? Crude has been steady above $80 for months, not likely during the summer to drop below $70/barrel. Lots of answers before it could be seen as good to re-shop.

Ok so now the Fish Extender list are now posted i can see i am now officially a "PINEAPPLE"

Just a quick cry for help tho, it seems that amongst my fellow "Pineapple" are boys aged 12,and 13 .........so anyone got any smart ideas of what teenage boy's like???

Video Games! :lmao:

Just wanted to check in and let y'all know that I am not going to have time to put together the info on Gibraltar that I had hoped to put together.

I've had to go to my folks house out of state as they are both needing a little TLC at the moment.

My original plan was to be back home in time to make the excursion ressies, hopefully that will work out.

If one of the platinum group wouldn't mind.... Could you post a list of when the afternoon teas will be offered so we can decide on a time to try for?
Thanks!

I don't suppose the DCL contact who will be arranging the tastings could help us out with a private tea time?

You can buy the magnetic ink jet paper (this is what I did) or you can print and then use self adhesive magnets and laminate.

We were looking at the self adhesive magnets for our door decorations. Haven't done this before. :confused3 Can you explain about the laminate?
Do you laminate before or after attaching the self adhesive magnet? :)

Hi, I laminate first, then put strips of magnetic tape to the back, but this is my first cruise, so I don't know how they'll hold up.
Hopefully a veteran cruiser will be along soon to let you know their tricks :thumbsup2

Just wanted to write a quick note to say I am so glad I found all of you! Being part of this Dis group of crazy planners and beautiful friendly people makes the lead up to our first cruise so much more special and exciting.
Thank-you to everyone! :flower3::flower3::flower3:

I consider you all my support group :rotfl2:

Lol sorry I didn't think about that when I wrote it! Last time in our general one we did end up with a collection of Mills&Boone books too!
!

I guess it takes all types but we should probably avoid the R18 books ;)

Half of our luggage won't be coming home:cheer2: - I love Macy's at Florida Mall! :cheer2::cheer2:

I love the thrift stores :)

On previous cruises we've found the book shelf in the cove cafe to be open. On this cruise, they had put locked doors on the book case and had specified hours when it would be open. However...if they weren't busy, sometimes the CM in the Cove Cafe would allow you to return books at other hours and rarely even to browse and borrow. That started one day when the CM didn't show up at the specified time and there were 5 of us waiting for him/her.

Book exchange at our door will be "open" 24/7 - I've got a large canvas bag I thought I'd hang off our fish hook with a stretchy cable that might do.

We try not to shop too much here at all, Ok...well, I TRY!!! I'm just not very successful at trying, What can I say, I'm a shopper!
It is just so much cheaper over there, It blows me away! Get your 2010 christmas list ready!

I can't get over how cheap the shoes are in the US - Skechers are about 1/3 the price of here. I also love Walmart.

I can see the magnet design - I love it!

How do you make this into a magnet? Can you buy magnetic paper that goes through a printer?

Last time, I laminated and then tape magnets on the back - the thin advertising type magnets that the plumber and similar give away with their numbers - just taped right over them onto the back of the picture.

Hi everyone.DH and I are on WBTA. Arriving in Barcelona on Sep 15. Looking for suggestions on how to get from airport to Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona.

There apparently are "shuttles" that drop off around the city but I have read really strong warnings about watching your personal belongings when getting off. Apparently gangs of pickpockets, watch these areas as people are unfamiliar with their surroundings and prime targets - just take sensible precautions. We will probably get a cab, after a 33 hour flight, it will be worth the cost to not have to worry about anything.

Been busy busy , so im just checkin in real quick ....Welcome Aboard to the new shipmates ...Hello to the old ones ..pirate:

Welcome back and congratulations! :cool1:

Does anyone know their stories?? Is anyone travelling with any of those folks and maybe you confirmed under your DIS name but forgot to mention that their DIS names were correct, too? Is anybody active on any other threads where any of those folks post and can gently nudge them to get in touch with me? (I hesitate to continue sending out PM's for fear of getting the moniker: "WBTA Lanyard Stalker" :lmao::lmao:)

I have coconut1 & KellyJeanDVC on my candy swap thread too so up until a few weeks ago, they much have been intending to cruise with us.

Oh and yes we did officially book while onboard - we are in a cat 10 GTY.

Krisann

Welcome back and thanks for the tips!

Don't even get me started on shoes!!!! I buy a few pairs every trip, along with clothes, heaps of make-up, handbags, jewellery, toys, linen, oh the linen! It is so unfair that we have to pay 3-4 times the price for the same thing over here, Everything from band-aids to towels!!!

I second that about getting a taxi after the horrible long flight. Are you flying via Singapore and London? I'm sure you arrive before us, we leave home on the 16th?

I love that you guys consider the colour of the lanyard. I can tell we are going to get along just fine! I am quite funny about things matching and being balanced, apparently I'm a bit obsessive.....if you ask my friends :rolleyes1

I think you are going to have to get a few different coloured lanyards!!!:lmao:

To be perfectly honest, I'm a little afraid of how we can fit lanyards AND fish extender gifts, as well....so the truth is that our fish extender gifts will probably be simple and small=====>since in essence the lanyards and all the work and organizing that goes into them is kind of an informal gift to everyone (who gets them) no matter WHAT fish extender fruit group we end up in!! :lmao::thumbsup2

Any chance you can offload some or all of the lanyards for others to take over for you? If we were in the US I would have offered.

Dear Marilyn,

1. click on a small photo to open it larger, it should open in a new window.

If you have a two button mouse;
1. right click on the photo and "save image as..." you can choose where it goes or "save image to downloads" it will go to your download folder.

If you the older single button mouse;
1. hold the ctrl button, just to the left of the space bar.
2. click on photo
3. "save image as..." or "save image to downloads"

If you are on a newer apple laptop, follow the single button mouse using the touch pad as your mouse, of course.

Pj

I think I might have done it!!!:thumbsup2 If you see it on our stateroom door then I have learned something!!!!!

What a nightmare for you Krisann. I hope you are feeling better now. It looks like you have some more hard work ahead.

Just wanted to check in and let y'all know that I am not going to have time to put together the info on Gibraltar that I had hoped to put together.

Sorry to hear of your present situation. I hope you aren't away too long and your parents are ok.

I believe Palo don't offer group bookings for afternoon tea which is a great shame.:sad2: Wouldn't it be nice though if one could be arranged somewhere else though?

Good morning everyone

We are back from Mousemeets :thumbsup2 We really enjoyed our 2 days away, and the highlights of the weekend were meeting up with Lynne and Len and having a lovely lunch with them, and also getting tgether with our wonderful Disney friends from the DIS UK boards.

We had a lovely meal in the Hard Rock Cafe, and a few drinkies in the bar on the Saturday evening. On the Sunday we attending the Mousemeets events: a talk on buying a holiday home in Orlando which has totally put me off ever doing that, a talk on Port Orleans Resort, which was interesting especially as we are staying there in October, a Disney Quiz which we did particularly badly at ( because Lynne and Len missed the second part .... we were even worse without them :rotfl: ) There were also Disney collectables on sale and Taryn ( DD ) and her DBF ( Matt) bought me a wonderful Disney Traditions Steamboat Willie Mickey figure. We also got to see a cinema showing of Snow White on the big screen, which was wonderful ( and it was rather scary :scared1: seeing that witch on the big screen )

Needless to say our conversations were mostly about the cruise and how excited we all were ..... and now after meeting Lynne and Len we are even more excited :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

My only complaint was that the weekend flew by and it was all a bit hectic trying to fit everything in.

Glad you guys had fun!

Sarah - have you got free dining with your POR reservation? The new dining offer through WDW US is free full dining for moderate or counter service for value. I went with counter service and Pop Century yesterday through Dreams Unlimited so have it booked for 6 days!

Hi everyone.DH and I are on WBTA. Arriving in Barcelona on Sep 15. Looking for suggestions on how to get from airport to Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Sandy

Hi Sandy - best bet is probably a taxi I'd say!

We have a cat 3 already thanks to dear Giles.they are sorting out nibbles me thinkkspopcorn::

They scales are the best things I ever bought!!!!

Thanks Lynne! I definately love my little travel scales! They are so cute and going to come in very handy on this trip!

Eric - I believe Alexturner47 is still with us (I think they popped on a couple of months back to say they were still around but their one child is about 6 months old so very busy).

KrissanB was meant to be booking this one on the EBTA but not heard anything yet so not sure

Also the following are still on the roll call if that helps:

Coconut1
Dis-bits
DisneyTrek
Harvey
KellyJeanDVC
Sue L

Everyone else isn't showing on the roll call according to me today so I would guess that maybe these people have dropped out?

Sorry for my delay - we have been gone - on a little trip :) and have only been home a few days - count me in - I will get into my PM box later tonight and reply - I have read them on my email - and it all sounds great!

Krisann

See I post saying you were off on your travels and there you appear as if by magic!

Apart from teenage girls of course :rotfl:

I have ideas for younger children as I have a young nephew and neice, (although she's 8 going on 18!!!)

Don't teenage boys hate everything???, "Stupid Europe, Stupid neo-classical architecture”
(I’m joking of course):rotfl:

(I know all teenagers secretly love neo-classical architecture);)

So without soiling your own treats, what might I look to give slightly older kids

SW

Well, my 13 year old DS is into history, minitary and Star Wars... Oh, and Disney.... :) Seriously - my kid would think stuff from other countries is cool. And outside of that, yes, chocolate works as well! :cool1:
