I do remember you telling me that some time back on the Panama canal thread so I thought you'd be interested!:thumbsup2 DH says he spent many happy days at Hayling Island as a child :)

I was interested and I am glad you remembered. Small world, is it not?

Today we in the States are celebrating Memorial Day. It's a day set aside to honor those that serve now, those that have served in the past and those that have given the ultimate sacrifice which allows me to live the free life that I live and gives me the opportunity to talk with all you wonderful people.

So for those no longer with us, for those that have served in the past and for those presently serving, one big

THANK YOU :thumbsup2

Perfectly said. We all have a lot to be grateful for.:goodvibes

Thanks, Marilyn. I was thinking that will some people may put their FE out right away or maybe not? I don't want to disappoint any of the kiddos who are expecting something to arrive in their FE right away.

Just my thoughts..
:surfweb:

It is so nice when the gifts are spaced out. Also receiving something on that last full day was a great treat when you think there is nothing else coming.

Thought I would post a picture of Peter (the groom) and I at his wedding this afternoon. They had a BEAUTIFUL day for their outdoor wedding on the edge of the golf greens at a local country club. There was a time that no one would have been surprised if we got married, but there's no doubt his bride Christen and him were meant to be!

Sadly, I was so busy doing the video during the ceremony and video messages from guest during the reception that I have only one almost good picture of them together from the cake cutting, so I need to get my hands on a good picture of them together! I'm very happy for the couple in love! :lovestruc He's grown so much in so many ways that he is truly deserving to be so blessed! She's a gem!

You look beautiful and looks and sounds like you had a great time!

Just caught up with a few pages, posted and it never showed up. I don't know what happened. I will try to think of it all.

First, Steffy, you cannot sit out on the balcony!!!!! Not with rough seas. Go up to Deck 9 - that is what I did and it totally works - not sick at all and nice cool breeze, don't forget the ice cream with caramel sauce - :rotfl:

I hope we can give our our FE's the first night. I am so excited, I wish it was next week. I don't want to rush summer though. This is the best time of year.

Someone posted about not really enjoying Phantom of the Opera. I saw Phantom on Broadway a few times with Michael Crawford as the Phantom and it is still a fabulous memory. I used some of the music for my wedding. Sorry you did not enjoy it that much. A great example of everybody's idea of entertainment is different. We saw Jim Brickman on the '07 TA and did not enjoy him at all. I prefer the magicians and hypnotists :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hope everyone is enjoying a day of BBQing and having off as we honor those who have fought for our country. MagicMe couldn't have said it better!

By the way, went to buy the laminator, it will be cheaper to get it laminated at the UPS store. The cheapest laminator was $120.00:scared1:

We saw Michael Crawford in the Phantom of the Opera in Los Angeles in 1989. I think his performance was one of the highlights of my life.

Has anybody read the "Terrible Table Mates" thread. I read the first page and kept repeating, "This will not be our cruise, this will not be our cruise." Ugh! It's funny to read, but at the same time, it isn't.

Funny you should mention this thread. I actually read some of the posts out loud to DH. I have only had one bad table mate experience so I feel quite fortunate.

Hello everyone! Is there room for 4 more in this group? Traveling will be my DH, myself, my sister and her husband. (DH and myself will be doing the last Med cruise as well.) We've been on 12 Disney cruises, and did the WBTA in 2007 so we know what a great time this cruise will be. DH and myself are retired and live in FL so we get a lot of company and we travel when we can. DS and DBIL are working folks who live in MD. Our traveling and company visits will be wrapping up soon so we'll have some time to dedicate to getting ready to join you in Barcelona. This is going to be so much fun!

:welcome: on board

We've heard good things about Jiko. Sounds like you'll have some beautiful meals at all the signature restaurants. Did you consider the Spirit of Aloha dinner and show, It's one of my favourites? But my favourite food has to be the beignets at Port Orleans, French Quarter, Have you had them? They are devine!
BTW, Loved your med trip report :thumbsup2

I have never actually made it to Port Orleans, even though it is virtually next door to our home resort Old Key West. We are not a big fan of dinner shows so have not considered Spirit of Aloha.

Where in Germany did you live?

Ik kan duits lezen en praten. I learned german because when i was young i watched ADR, ZDF they had great movies. And we lived nearby Kleve, you now Nimwegen?

I was born and grew up near Frankfurt am Main. I came to the UK in 1996 for a year as it was compulsory for my studies. Nearly 14 years later I am still here.

I actually understood what you were writing there. I better brush up my Dutch. I just had a whole lot of emails that were written in Dutch forwarded to me at work today. I better have a go at reading them tomorrow.

It look like it will be 11 of us at philly airport. We can have a mini meet in the airport at Chickies and Petes and have a cheese steak.

Now an update on my arm. My arm is swelling up a lot and having some pain. I was at the physical therapist on Friday and she said my arm is getting worst. She made my a custom made split so a can not rotate my arm over. She also give me a list of orthopedic surgeons in the area and said start doing my research. This is not looking good. I'm still hoping for good news on Thursday after my MRI.

Stephen

ooh I'm worried. We've never had any problems with seasickness but we've never had anything like THAT when we've cruised!

Where does everyone go when it gets like that? To their rooms? Or is it crowded somewhere else inside? LOL

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that hasn't managed to make it to the (adult) pool yet..... LOL

It was not very crowded at all. There were a few people sitting in the little seating area near the spa and there were some people wrapped up in blankets in the atrium and in the portholes on Beat Street, but I think most people were just in their cabins.

My MIL had a bad experience with the patch. She was so "out of it" we had her take it off and use Non-Drowsy Dramamine.

We start my DH on Non-Drowsy Dramamine 24 hours before we leave, and then he takes once a day on the ship. This works well for him.

DH used the patch on our first cruise as he gets "everything" sick. He was sick until the next day when it fell off in the shower. He was fine after. Since then, we've discovered that green apples, ginger-ale and sleep work best for him. I didn't use to get sick until a few years ago and now I wear the "bracelets" just in case. I'm hoping that my track weather of missing all major hurricanes and bad weather sticks and we will have a seamless Atlantic Ocean. Fingers crossed!

Wow, after today’s posts I had no idea of the Patches adverse reactions. I have good luck with them. I think we will bring some of the mentioned backup.

Oh I forgot to mention, the sea-sickness pills that the Magic/Wonder have work wonders also. I know they are rather "generic" but they seem to work well. Also, they used to give out "aspirin" as well and I've found out that they seem to work much better than Tylonel does. My DS has a condition where he cannot take Tylonel but he can however take the Magic's version. He says they work much better than the name-brand. So whenever I get a headache, I grab some from their sick bay and he gets a stash for him to take.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I just heard from some friends of mine that arrived in Barcelona this morning.....they are going on the Repositioning cruise this weekend from Barcelona to Dover and are part of our "DIS" family.....anyway when they got off the Aerobus they were distracted for a brief second and had a small carry on bag stolen while at the Plaza Cataluna. They wanted everyone to be aware of your surroundings and keep your eyes open. Luckily they did not have a passport or wallet stolen so it could have been much worse.

Have a great day and remember our military men, women and their families today!!

Wow! Teach me to stay off FB! Glad it was something small. Wow. Grumpylvr is usually EXTREMELY vigilent. Hope it wasn't something important. But that leads me to believe it was large numbers of vandals working together. That does it - DO NOT MENTION THIS TO STEVE anyone and BTW, we will have private pick-up at the airport. I'd rather pay than take a chance. I'll find the $$ somewhere.

10 cruises, one of them 10 day, one 15 day.....we've been in the hot tub twice that I can remember. We may have sat by the pool once but I cannot remember doing that. :confused3 We are not water folks I guess. You will find us in the Rainforest daily though! :goodvibes

Yes, THANK YOU!!

Hmmm.....4 PC crossings, 1 Southern Caribbean, 1 Trans-Atlantic crossing numerous 7 day cruises, several 3 and 4 day cruises, where the heck is that damn pool? All I've come across is that darn Mickey pool (which I am too tall for ) that's "several degrees" hotter than normal. :lmao:

We aren't water folk, or beach folk really. We haven't been in or sat around the pools on the ships, or been in the hot tubs. We did try the Rainforest Room, but got bored!! And that after waiting about 30 minutes for one of the loungers to be vacated!!!!!:lmao: At least those waiting after us didn't have as long a wait.;) We love walking on the beach, but, we get bored sitting around, particularly John. I can cope with a little beach loounger lounging and daydreaming.:)

Geez, you sound like me - I'd say I had ADD of the adult brain that that would require a brain. ( I wonder sometimes) Anyway, outdoors is better for me than indoors so somehow I have to find something to occupy my matter with. :cutie:

Hi Everyone,

I have been away from the boards, but am looking forward to the WBTA.

We were on the EBTA and are continuing with our travels in Europe. (Hi KrisannB and kcashner! We enjoyed cruising with you.)

When we get home, I'll only have a few hundred pages to catch up. LOL.

My top tips:

1. Get some euros in advance. Even today in Milan, we went to five or six ATMs before we found one that accepted our card.

2. Beware of pickpockets, especially at tourist sites and on public transportation. We met a couple who lost a wallet (from a handbag with a flap) two blocks from the dock as they were waiting to cross the street (whenever strangers are standing closer than normal). We also met a woman O:3dglasseswho lost money from her front pants picket in a marketplace (someone bumped into her).

I don't mean to scare anyone. Just use common sense and be aware of your surroundings.

Your trip sounds wonderful! As soon as you come home, you will have to turn around and go back to do the WBTA! Thanks for letting us know about the negatives of your trip. I had trouble with ATM's years ago, but I have my Euros ready to go. When are you getting back to Cali?

I've been away so long that I signed my last post twice. Sorry.

I'm using an iPod Touch, and am having trouble with the "keyboard"

My son and his wife lost their home in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina in Hugo. I also remember the Big Red Boat. We did our first Disney Cruise on that ship with DD Samantha when she was about 7.

I don't typically get seasick on the ship but have been seasick on smaller boats. I always drive as I do get carsick. I will avail myself of the bonnine on board if we have some high seas. I will also try the ginger ale and green apples cure.

I'm so sorry your son lost his home during Hugo. :grouphug::grouphug: It was a really bad hurricane.

I think I will add the ginger ale and green apples to my arsenal also! :cool1:

That suck's! (for lack of a better word) :sad2:

hope you are all well.

Hope you are well, we haven't heard much from you lately, hope everything is OK. :grouphug:

I have a question on the FE gifts. Are we starting distribution on Saturday or Sunday? I am also assuming our last gifts will be distributed on Friday, the night before we dock in Port Canaveral.

Am I correct or is there a different plant?

Just my thoughts...

:surfweb:

I think half the fun is not knowing when to expect anything! ;)

Has anybody read the "Terrible Table Mates" thread. I read the first page and kept repeating, "This will not be our cruise, this will not be our cruise." Ugh! It's funny to read, but at the same time, it isn't.

Yes, some people are just plain rude! :sad2::sad2::sad2:

You must make it over, catch the boat, it will be worth your while, I promise! Beignets rock!

You will see a lot of me on deck 9 wrapped up in a blanket with a drink from either Cafe Cove or the bar across from Topsiders if we have rough seas. :goodvibes

It was not very crowded at all. There were a few people sitting in the little seating area near the spa and there were some people wrapped up in blankets in the atrium and in the portholes on Beat Street, but I think most people were just in their cabins.

Good to know about the sick bay. Thanks! Mums the words to Steve. My lip is zipped. :goodvibes And since I'm in the mood to share so many very personal details today... (My Zrytec must have been laced with truth serium) I haven't done the cruise ship pools either. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1
