I need to whine for a moment.
My just got fired yesterday and I was worried about canceling the trip.
after about 2 seconds I decided that there was no way we were canceling. I don't care if were paying for it for 10 years... we're going.

Sounds like a great idea Woody .... thanks.
I didn't know you could arrange a private tasting session. I thought we would just all choose a day and make sure we all book for the same one. Do you find out when they are held before the cruise or do we have to wait until we get on.

Paula ..... I had volunteered to do the book exchange bag but please feel free to do this, you are definitely not stepping on any toes :goodvibes

Can you just tell us how the photograph scavenger hunt was judged .... did everyone just hand over their cameras to the organisers? If you can get hold of the list that would be great.

Looks very like a British Mars Bar .... so DH will be very happy as it's one of his favorites:goodvibes. We would like to take part in this candy bar exchange too so you can put us down. Do we have to decide now what we are bringing or can it be a surprise :goodvibes

A Private Tequila tasting would cool too.
Photographic scavenger hunt sounds great!
mmm british Mars bar? sounds good! Sign us up for the candy exchange as well. I know Reeses pb cups are taken but are they the fun size or the full size?

Re: DIS meet on board - Last time we had our DIS meet at 3pm on embarkation day at the Promenade Lounge. This is after most people had their lunch and found their cabins, but before the safety drill. I don't know if timings will be the same on the TA cruise though.
This is what we did for our cruise on 08 as well and it was very cool.

We would love to sit with others! Not that I don't want to meet everyone, but I would love to sit with someone that has kids - or at least someone that is around Beccas age (she just turned 6, and tends to be very shy at times). Stephen (13) may not want to do dinner with us every night - but will most nights...

ow many large tables are there? If we link ressies can we fillthem all? :)

I would love to share a table with another DIS family, but we have early seating.

I will bring Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, I promise.
Full size or Fun Size?

Thanks Corinna :hug::hug::hug:
It certainly is ..... I have been obsessing about it all day. Have almost decided on our Disney Hotel for the night we disembark .... as we are likely to be spending the late afternoon and evening in Magic Kingdom, we are thinking Wilderness Lodge ... I have always loved the theming, have never stayed there and the boat ride back to the Lodge would be a lovely way to end the evening. Plus we could have a yummy breakfast in Whispering Canyon before we leave for the airport.
Guilty about the obsession. We love the the Wilderness lodge and whispering canyon for breakfast. I love asking for Ketchup or a LARGE soda:rotfl2::rotfl2:

By the way .... is anyone planning on eating in Downtown Disney when in Orlando .... check out this thread for a really good deal for the House of Blues restaurant. No good for us Brits though ... you can only input a US address, but it might be useful for someone :goodvibes

The code didn't work

I think a chocolate/candy bar swap would be so much fun! Count us in for that!

It is a beautiful day here in PA. The sun is shining and it's just wonderful.

I got the US Census in the mail today! Has everybody (well, who should be getting them) gotten theirs yet? I want to fill it out and send it off right away so I won't forget to do it! LOL!

Our census was hand delivered ----by TWO people ---- a couple of weeks ago. I asked them how much a stamp would have cost me, the taxpayer, vs. having TWO people come out to hand it to me. :headache::confused3 I mailed it back that same afternoon.

Full size or Fun Size?

I believe it was fun size.

I am so sorry for you. I totally agree that I made the decision that I will not give up this trip. Nope, Nada, ain't gonna happen.!!!! It has been a month and I have had no bite. I cannot even believe I am saying that I am going crazy being home!!!:lmao:

The only good thing about all of this is my hubby is getting nice meals every night. He did make stir fry last weekend. :goodvibes
The Corned Beef Briskit is on the stove and is smelling so good. YUM!!!

Just a quick greeting from San Miguel de Allende! Marc and I had to make a quick (HA!!!) trip down here to search out a new home as though the Gaudi-style house that we saw the first time would definitely have been unique, it just wasn't going to work. So we found a new place on the internet last week, booked a flight, looked at it yesterday and it's going to be great! Plus, it was cheaper than the first home. We can save those extra dollars for possible upcoming vacations!!!

For all you nonAmerican folks on the list, we now understand the hassles y'all might go through looking for inexpensive flights to come to the states! Oy, it's gonna be a challenge to pinch pennies when looking at airfare. Thank goodness the flights to Barcelona were taken care of with BA points! We now need to get to LAX to catch it, though! LOL

Michael

That's a good idea. I had a 'whatyamacallit' what I was in CA in Februaryand loved it. Its a peanut-flavor crisp candy topped with a layer of caramel and dipped in chocolate has a name and a taste that's hard to forget! The candy bar is produced by Hersheys.

Does the swap have to be chocolate?

I can bring some Whatchamacallits for you!

Great news and well done.:thumbsup2 Please post some pictures when you can.

When do you hope to make the move?

Just been listening to the latest DIS Podcast.

Seems DCL are requesting that people stop taping stuff to their stateroom doors as it's damaging them.

Now i know this is nothing new and all of us WBTA folks will only be using magnets on our doors, but just thought it was worth mentioning in case anyone is planing to decorate their door and didn't already know that DCL request NO TAPE.

With the ever growing list of great activities being planned i wouldn't be surprised if "Best decorated door" made it onto the list.

When do you hope to make the move?

The move SHOULD take place by the end of May. There are a few steps to take care of visa-wise. We'll be back down here at the end of April and apply for a one-year visa. Once the application is in we will then head back to CA and start the final packing. In about 3 weeks from the initial app we'll get the okay to come back down and get fingerprinted. THEN we get to go back home to CA and pick up a form from the local Mexican consulate where we list all the stuff we'll be taking (driving) in with us so that we don't have to pay duty on it. It's a one-time duty-free exemption so we need to make sure that we take all we can so we don't have to buy too much down here. Though we will be taking many things there will also be things we will just sell and the cost to get them down here (brokers have to drive it over the border) gets a bit pricey and it just isn't worth it.

The good thing about missing May is that it's the hottest time of the year down here and we'll miss most of it!

We will find out just how materialistic we really are......

Ah, the stories we'll have to tell during this cruise!!! (Had to get it back to something cruise related!)

Don't forget about the badge

Now we are talking, chocolates and candy:banana:

Jon

On the candy exchange, I am wondering now chocolate will do on an over the atlantic flight? Is it best to have it in one's carry-on?

I have done both. Bars in checked in bags and boxes that are more fragile in carry on.

I saw we could upgrade on our reservation so I called. We dropped the transportation charge and did an upgrade. We are now on deck 8 cat 4!!!!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::thumbsup2 All this for an extra $55pp. I made the change on the roll call

That is so awesome Terry!!

I was so excited for you I logged into my own account to see if there was an upgrade offer there for me. I didn't see one. We are currently in a cat 5. I would've totally upgraded to a 4 for an extra $55.00 pp.

Good for you!

I know it is on the website but... (Besides, the way today has been, why not one more post... :rotfl2:)

We are uo to 87 families!!! WAHOO!!! However, there are quite a few without a picture. If you are one of those - and you know who you are - please consider sending a photo in! They should be sent to photos@transatlanticpirates.com

Also - has anyone tracked people that have had to drop? I wanted to keep the roll call cleaned up, but have lost track. If anyone has a good memory and / or has been tracking, ban you let us know if anyone needs to be removed?

Thanks!!
Sue
