Jason and I will definitely have bananagrams, buzz word, boggle, taboo, uno and a deck of regular cards with us. If we can fit more we may try to bring cranium, as well.

Parker Brothers used to make little canisters called "Game Tasters", with the basics for their games. I have the Taboo and Pictionary ones. The Taboo one even has a tiny squeaker! They are perfect for traveling...I just bring additional cards from the full size games, so we dont get repeats as quickly. All the pieces fit in a reguar ziploc for easy packing.

Woo! Just booked our Barcelona hotel today. It is a cheap place near the airport, but I just couldn't face paying $150-200 for a place to literally lay our heads for one night. We'll be so shattered from the trip we'd probably be able to sleep on a bench. DH is Army, so he is equipped with the ability to literally have a 12 1/2 minute window to nap, lay down on a hard tile floor with a light in his eyes, and sleep. Amazing.

This weekend we are headed to Hershey Park on Saturday and then I have a 5K on Sunday.

When I was on active duty, we had a saying, "You can sleep when you're dead!" But, in reality, we would grab 5 or 10 minutes anywhere and anytime we could: a rock in the desert (my favorite pillow), a snow cave in the mountains, the intake of a jet aircraft - or in my case, the cockpit (not while actually flying the jet, of course :scared1: ). Must be a military thing!

I'll be in Hershey tomorrow for my DGD's cheerleading event. :goodvibes:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Good Day all.

It is Friday and I am ready for the weekend. What does everyone else have planned?

Not much, we are half through Saturday already so we have walked the dogs - walked to my Mum's and dug up some of her spuds as we were out and why pay when you can dig them up for free :rotfl2: Also I've done some chores, played on Facebook, read a magazine, cooked lunch. My life is one exciting thing after another ;)

I'm seriously considering doing a fridge/freezer/pantry list to see how long I can get away without buying groceries ;)

I'm also hoping to repot a few plants and plant out some more seed for winter veges.

Oh and I'm half way through a book I'd like to finish too.

I also got a city guide to Barcelona out the library on Thursday so I'll be checking that out too. We need to find something to do the day after we arrive as Mum doesn't arrive until that evening so need to do something she won't want to do.

PS. Got a letter from DCL yesterday, you guys probably got it long before it made it to Australia. It was just 'Helpful Hints for your Transatlantic Voyage'. Just about foreign currency, packing tips, Flight details, ground transfers and Hotels. Nothing exciting.

We got that too earlier in the weekend, I was fairly underwhelmed by it. Filed it straight into the recycling bin.

I love board and card games too - can never find anyone to play with me though. They say I have memorised the trivial pursuit cards :lmao:

I baked bread today and lost a diamond out of my ring. :headache: Hope Dennis does not find it in his toast. :rolleyes1 Could be anywhere though, I also helped Dennis take the cover off the RV - the weather is THAT nice! - and I may have lost it out there in the driveway when we were folding that darn thing up.

Sorry to hear about the diamond :sad2:

Thanks for the info. We bought our airfare through DCL, so we are kind of stuck with their choices.

Oh my goodness! I just can't keep up. I hope someone is adding all the info we need to know somewhere. With two little ones I just can't get on everyday and then I get so behind!! :)

Ooo, forgot about Uno and Cranium!!! Hopefully we'll be able to catch you guys around so we can play it up!! But just so you know, we play to win so you guys better bring it. hehehehe :rotfl:

I totally agree! Even asking it to go to the new posts, it still misses something so I get lost easily!

Its gonna be two pairs of tidy pants and mix/match tops for me for all dinners... Though I do have a very nice fancy Mickey Mouse jumper which I've actually stopped wearing around Disney fans - I've been offered so many times with people wanting to buy it off me! I did wear it to semi-formal night on one cruise as its kinda sparkly :rotfl2:
ooh sparkly? i wanna see that! :)

LOL you can join us in the "Im wearing jeans and a shirt to dinner on semi night and you wont stop me!" camp.
haha
We don't usually bring jeans... Jeff usually just wears khakis and polos. LOL
But same thing- right? :)

Yea! The folks on the EBTA cruise confirmed that the photo CD is $399, which is the same price it was on the 7nt cruises. I was afraid they were going to raise the price to something even more unreasonable.
Well that's nice... atleast it's not double!

Hi everyone! It's been really great getting to know you all, but I've decided to cancel my cruise. It will just be too tight on my budget for this year, and I've been stressing way too much about it. I'm also really crushed about the lack of named entertainment, and the extra formal nights, which were the tipping points in my decision. Maybe I'll see you on some future Disney cruise (when the Fantasy comes out I'll definitely be sailing DCL again), but in the meantime I think I'll be checking out another line. I hope you all have a wonderful time, and enjoy all those tastings for me! :goodvibes
Oh gosh... I'm sorry. :(

$399 is a lot of money, but as someone who's spent over $500 on pictures on a 7nt cruise (plus more to digitize the photos after the cruise) it's quite a bargain. By buying the CD, you get a digital copy of EVERY picture you have taken on the cruise. You also get 50% off any prints or print packages you decide to purchase, in case you want to get any of the borders that aren't available on the CD.

We had well over 200 photos on our 7 night and over a hundred on our 4 night cruise, so for us we still ended up paying less. Lord knows how many pictures we'd have after a 14 nights cruise.

As far as sharing the CD, what worked for us was having the staterooms linked, and having everyone take at least one embarkation photo together under my KTTW card. When we purchased the photo CD, they ask for a reference photo (usually the embarkation photo) that they use for both facial recognition purposes and for the manual verification they do when the CD is produced. They also asked which room numbers were included in the picture. We had our family and a friend who was in a separate room in our photo. Our CD ended up with all of our pictures, plus all of her pictures. There were some of our friends pictures that were taken using our KTTW card, but she took others with her KTTW card that also appeared on the CD without any problem. I don't know if having the rooms linked did anything for us other than establish a relationship in the system. We had another group of friends who were also linked to our room, but who weren't in our embarkation photo, and we didn't get any of their photos on our CD so it's more the embarkation photo than anything.

Hmm, I wonder if we could find someone to share with. LOL
It's really not worth it for us- even with the longer cruise/same price. We just don't do a whole lot of photos... but it's nice to get the few we do get taken- yanno? Mostly like we like the photos at Castaway Cay, precisely when I can't be everywhere to take photos of everyone... and neither do I want to take my non-waterproof digi camera on the beach. LOL

I was just looking at the info for this cruise on the DCL site, and saw this strange description for the last day. I guess after all the time changes we'll have gone through on this trip, they figure we won't know what day it is when we actually get off the boat!

Day 15 – Disembarkation Day
On Saturday morning, arrive back in sunny Port Canaveral on Friday, content in the vacation memories that can only be had on a Disney cruise, where exquisite dining, unique entertainment and recreation, and legendary service seamlessly come together to create a family getaway unlike any other.
That's hilarious!

Nothing planned for the weekend. The weather has been AMAZING the last two days. 70 degrees and sunshine. Woo Hoo!!! :dance3:

I baked bread today and lost a diamond out of my ring. :headache: Hope Dennis does not find it in his toast. :rolleyes1 Could be anywhere though, I also helped Dennis take the cover off the RV - the weather is THAT nice! - and I may have lost it out there in the driveway when we were folding that darn thing up.

Oh no!!!!
I hope you find the diamond!
Funny story... years ago... while on a business trip in a completely different state with DH while pregnant with Robert (now 12, btw) -lost the big diamond out of my ring. Searched everywhere- backtracked where we were at the time, searched the hotel room, our bags, everything. Didn't find it.
years later- all the sudden saw it on the carpet of our livingroom.

still haven't figured out how that happened. LOL It's an oddity.....

Hi there,

Well I have just booked the Transatlantic WB cruise! I am heading over from Sydney Australia, my sister is on the Walt Disney World International College Program and mum and I are using the excuse of her being in Florida to make a few trips to visit!

Anyway we are also on the 11 night Med cruise on the 15 May so it should be a lot of fun.

It is nice to meet you all!

Ella

:welcome: aboard Ella. Hope you enjoy your Med cruise too .... that's not too far away :goodvibes

I've booked mid week first week in july. High season starts on the 4th so they'll be all the usual extra summer stuff going on, and it's before lots of the kids break up so the crowds shouldn't be to bad. Plus i got a bit of a bargain on Eurostar website.

SW

We are thinking about the 5th July .... where are you staying ?

Greetings from the Magic. We are having a lovely time in the mid Atlantic, having cleared the Bermuda Triangle. I think they would call this a calm sea; just the basic rocking of a cruiseliner. We had much more rolling Halloween 2008.

Brent is CD. Natalee is still running BINGO and Neville is out about helping.

About 2200 cruisers; 1100 CC; 360 DISers; perhaps 450 kids.

Haven't seen Villians yet; I think it's Friday, along with Match your Mate.

Lynne

Hi Lynne  pleased to hear it isn't too rough out there. I remember those seas on the 2008 Halloween cruise only too well  thank goodness for the pink pills :thumbsup2

Jason and I ALWAYS pack a collapsible duffle bag in the outer pocket of one of our suitcases in case we need it----and because you often end a vacation with more stuff than you started it with (between clothes you buy, souvenirs you pick up, the assortment of fish extender presents, etc. :lmao:)

I think this might just be the way to go ... last time I had to purchase a bag in Orlando airport when we were over the weight limit.

So sorry you won't be joining us April :sad2:

Ello Mates , ye ole Captain here seeking some help , as you all know I have finally booked airfare and I am starting to get in the swing of planning ( I know , I know should have been planning along time ago ...Funny how life changes in ways LOL ) anyway I know most of you are only going over for the TA but we are going over for the Med and TA and I need to find a Hotel room that will take 4 and close if not on the the La Rambla ....

It needs to full into certain categorys ..lol

4 people in one room

inexpensive (as Like most we are on a tight budget)

easy to get to from airport , and easy to get to the port ...

Please Help if you can , looking at all options ..of course we only need it for one night ......

Hope to be PIFed in about 2 weeks if things work out right ...

pirate:

Have you looked into apartements .... they can be a good deal for larger groups. Maybe Lynne can help you out when she returns from her beach trip.

Well, I am officially in single digits for my next cruise. I am just hoping that we can get there. I am not sure if all of you have heard about this, but there was a major volcanic eruption in Iceland and the cloud of ash is drifting over the UK had the moment causing all the flights in and out of the UK to be cancelled. At the moment the UK airspace will be closed until at least 1 PM tomorrow, but I would be surprised if any flights will be allowed to operate until at least Sunday and there is a possibility that this could drag on much longer than that. Working for an airline was definitely interesting today.

Corinna

DH and I were thinking of you last evening when we were talking about this and all the poor people who are affected. Hopefully the cloud will be blown away someplace else before you travel. Have you got contingency plans?

Who do I need to contact to sign up for Fish extenders?

You can sign up on www.transatlanticpirates.com

otherwise Su Kraft is in charge of the FEs.

Someone on the UK trip planning board mentioned it a couple of years ago and we have used it ever since for our US$ payments :goodvibes

I always use Nationwide CC for European trips, and Abbey Zero CC (now Santander) for USA etc. Might look into the Post Office card for the TA, just in case I exceed my limits :rotfl:

Good Day all.

It is Friday and I am ready for the weekend. What does everyone else have planned?

Hopefully out for a meal this evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. Otherwise just being a taxi for DD and doing house jobs.

It was going to be a quiet weekend ending on Sunday with a wine dinner at D'land and then an overnight stay at Paradise Pier Hotel; one of our dogs thought differently though (well, it actually took 2 of them). After having an ultrasound for puppies last month and not seeing any, our older girl decided she would have some anyway.

Early this morning she whelped a litter of 5 pups. I unfortunately diagnosed her with a false pregancy last week - BECAUSE THE ULTRASOUND SAID NO PUPPIES - and we weren't prepared for this at all. All of the whelping supplies had been given away. We lost 2 of them unfortunately because she decided to whelp under our deck and not realizing it, 2 of the 3 didn't make it due to the cold night. We got her back in the house, cleaned her up quickly, made a makeshift whelping box and she whelped 2 more fairly quickly.

2 girls and 1 boy now join the household! It's going to be a crazy 8 weeks coming up. The move to Mexico JUST got a bit more challenging on the timing front.

Who else is having fun???!!!

Michael

Crikey ... what a surprise. Hope they are doing well but sorry to hear about the two who didn't make it :sad2:
