Hi everyone,

What a way to start my week. I nearly kill myself getting to work only to be "Let Go" because of budget cuts. so to work at 9am home by 11:30am. I am so shocked I cannot even think. My co-worker Awilda couldn't even speak!! I did post on Facebook that I was let go, but I will not go into much detail there.

This came out of left field because I really thought my job was secure with all of the things I do. I even asked the director who was gonna do it because she sure can't think Awilda is going to do that plus all of her work. It is very time consuming and very exact. Her words were, "we will spread it out over other people. That will be interesting since no one likes doing my job. Their comments are you are doing just fine. You keep doing it just like you do it now. I dealt with so many parents about their accounts and do a weekly electronic fund transfer and I just cannot wait to see who screws things up. I hope they lose a few parents because of this that is how mad I am right now.

But I am not giving up this cruise!!!!

Sorry to hear your bad news. Hope it turns out good for you, with another, better,... door opening..........good luck

I just wanted to tease you all in saying that I have bought part of what I am giving away in the Fish Extenders! I will keep quiet (soooooo hard for me to do) on what they are but:

1) Never seen this idea before
2) I think I could start a trend :rotfl:
3) They are a gift that spreads the magic beyond the initial giving

Are you teased yet? I'm so jazzed because I think it was such a good idea and is for the adults - a hard group to buy for!

This sounds really intriguing ..... especially point 3) Are you going to keep us in suspense for the next 6 months ;)

Tour Option While in Barcelona: In some of my waking hours this weekend, I was checking out the trains to see how to get from Barcelona to Montserrat on my own. Then I ran across a semi-independent tour that picks you up at Placa de Catalunya at 8:30 am, which is a 6 minute (.5km) walk from Praktik Rambla. It goes to the Torres Winery then Montserrat, including the Benedictine Monastery where you can see the boys choir perform every day at 1:00 pm. Finally, the bus will take you to Sitges and its beaches. You have independent time at all locations so you can choose what you may want to explore. You’ll return to Barcelona at 6:30 pm.

So if you have more than a day in Spain, this may be an option you want to explore. I’m 90% certain this will be my game plan. I’ll arrive in Barcelona Thursday morning, take the double-decker city tour that you can hop on/off at 44 locations, then on Friday, I’ll get up and do this tour. I think it would be nice to be able to see more of Spain than just the city life of Barcelona, so this seems like a good plan to me! I’m pretty settled in the idea that I want to go to Montserrat and Sitges, so I will still look into the train options to go on my own, but I’m liking the semi-guided tour bus offering

Price:
Kids 8 and Under are Free
Approximately $94 USD/ £60 GBP

Inclusions:
  • Admission to "Mar i Cel" Museum in Sitges
  • Aromes de Montserrat (liquor) tasting in Montserrat
  • Rack railway ticket to the top of Montserrat mountain
  • Admission to the Audiovisual space "Montserrat portes endins"

Research:

This sounds great. I was looking at taking the train up to the Montserrat from Barcelona anyway. One question though, what do the children under 8 do while we're wine tasting? :confused3

Kimberly: Guess, it's not only your car that is being infected by unwanted rodents. I sent you a PM for updates on the hotel roll call.

It's been a good day for planning. Thanks to Lyn (Lyn9856) we have flights booked to Barcelona. Plus, the four of us (Lyn, Bob, Candida and me) are now booked for Praktik Barcelona. :woohoo:

Things are getting done:)

Jon

YAY!! Our neighbors! :dance3:

From these figures I worked out that the tipping for our 14 night cruise should be:

Stateroom host : $ 56 per person
Server : $ 56 per person
Assistant Server : $ 42 per person
Head Server : $ 14 per person

Which for us (2 people) works out as $336 in tips for the cruise

Palo I would probably tip an extra $10 if the service were wonderful and for room service $2 or $3 depending on what we were ordering. For bar drinks delivered to us by a server we would generally tip $1.

Yes, what she said! We have always had wonderful service at Palo. We were told by the Palo manager that the servers get about half the fee. So, $15 per couple served.

Just got back this morning from the Magic!!! It was a wonderful week and very relaxing. Amanda is worried about the crossing and being bored while at sea. I know that there are some folks on this thread that have done a long cruise. Is there any words of wisdom out there?

She will not get bored!!!:woohoo:

I laughed. No gang plank for you. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Made me laugh too!!

Ooooh! I love mystery and suspense! I love dishing it out more than receiving, but nonetheless, you've got me excited! We heard it first here kids! Terapin is starting a new trend!

This sounds great. I was looking at taking the train up to the Montserrat from Barcelona anyway. One question though, what do the children under 8 do while we're wine tasting? :confused3

I thought it sounded great, too! Besides, we'll learn more about what we're seeing on our way to the destinations by having a guide as opposed to taking the train on our own!

Great question! I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps the wine tasting portion isn't really formal. :confused3 :confused3 I've been to some wineries where you basicially get to try in the wine in the retail shop. Hmmmm....we need to find someone who's done this tour so we know!

Kimberly - I took a look at the Hotel List on the first page. It looks like our arrival date in Barcelona has been changed from 9/16 (Thursday) to 9/14. We don't leave until 9/15, so we won't be in Barcelona until 9/16. Hopefully that wasn't a change meant for someone else.

THANK YOU!!!

Yikes! It looks like I had sorted and the last column was not included. I see many that are different from my February 2 posting. :upsidedow SO SORRY EVERYONE!!! I'll work on getting it back to how it was, then ask you to validate the arrival dates again.

SORRY!

Okay. I've revised the list and updated Post #4 on page 1 of this thread. I'm also posting the list here this time to ensure everyone's taking a look at it.

I hope I have you all right now. If not, absolutely bring it to my attention by sending me a PM! Pass along your info if you want to be included!

Thanks!
Kimberly

That's funny that you made carrot cake - my DH was so hungry for carrot cake on the drive home that we stopped and picked some up! It's too bad I can't send you virtual buffalo chicken dip because we have a lot left over!

Too funny. I like carrot cake a lot but have had too much of it lately. I made several during the holidays for various functions and, of course, I had to eat it at every one of those functions. And then I had a request from the host of the Super Bowl party to make it again so I was happy to oblige. :cake: But now I'm done for some time...I hope! :rotfl:

My info is correct. Thanks again Kimberly!!! :thanks:

Hi everybody. The German school my children attend told us last week that we can have permission to take the kids on the cruise, HOWEVER if we do so Marika will have to repeat 8th grade:headache: It does not seem to matter what her grades are or if she is caught up or not--they will just start her in 8th next year because she will be missing two weeks:confused3 Sooooo, as much as it breaks my heart to miss this one and not sail with all of you wonderful people (I am especially upset to not be sailing with Erik and Jason now--it is hard only seeing your good friends once in a blue moon and then giving that up) we have had to reconsider. We moved the reservation to the May 26 med cruise as that falls during the two weeks Marika and Rio are out for spring break (yes that is late--but summer does not start until July 31).
I hope you all have a lovely, lovely time on the TA. Oh, and lanyard team, no worries, I will get the info on to Erik.

Are you KIDDING me?!! She's a brilliant student even! Oh I'm so sorry for all these seemingly unnecessary adjustments the family has had to make!!! I know it "is what it is", but, I'm sorry.....what a crock! I am, however, happy that you'll all be able to cruise DCL closer to home nonetheless. At least your time on the boat will be here before you know it!

So now for the selfish part. I'm soooo sad. I was so looking forward to spending time with you on the Magic again. :sad1:

Oh No!!! Sorry to hear this!!! It doesn't seem fair to punish your daughter if she is up-to-date on all of her work. :sad2:

I guess the silver lining is that you still get to go on a Disney TA cruise. You'll be missed and I hope you have a great cruise in May!!!! pirate:

The snow has begun to fall. Just can't wait to see how much we get this time and how much wind and blowing comes with it.

But guess what???? I don't care because I don't have a job right now!!!!! :lmao:

I have heard that the six people doing my job are going bonkers!!!!!:rotfl:

I did send out a resume to one place that needs someone right now. Now for lots of Pixie Dust to make it work!!!! They use the same billing system that I have worked on for the past five years.
