We are confirmed at PR too - Robert and I arrive on the 14th and Mum arrives the following day.

On the 17th, we plan to visit Sagrada Famiglia and Parc Guell, then in the late afternoon / evening wandering about in the Ramblas and the Gothic areas soaking up the atmosphere, dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and DIS meet for drinkies at whatever time that is planned for.

Thanks so much for doing this! We are going to have so much fun! BTW, My friend Terry is tinker1bell the other birthday girl. So it is one room (twin double) 2 people. She's the one who has done the major amount of posting on this thread. I'm the one who is finally excited and posting...

Last week, I reaad on the main board that someone contacted DCL directly to inquire about the true schedule for embarkation day. Unfortunately I don't recall which cruise, however, execpt it wasn't for ours.

Since I've been away from the boards for a few months, forgive me for asking if I've missed that one of our own has already done this homework. This DISer for this other cruise was told that everyone has to be checked-in by 4:00, however, they will not set sail until either 9:00 or 9:30. This gives them them the freedom to leave the ship after checking in! Obviously the itinerary and the nautical miles to the first port of call will dictate if this will be an option for us. Has anyone inquired or received word about this being reality for us as well?

Newbie question... How do we know who the other DIS people are?!? Other than the fact than we will be the ones speaking English in Barcelona But once we get on th cruise, etc... Is there something people do so we know each other?

Well ordering the lanyards(see first page of this thread) really helps. As long as people wear them that is a great way to see someone and go have a chat.

I was really curious about the plan for the first day in Barcelona as well. I was looking on the DCL sites and it listed the Barcelona excursions being available on our cruise, but since it didn't seem like we were spending any official time in Barcelona I wasn't sure if that was true or not.

So how does it work? Do they still have the safety drill at 4pm meaning you have to be on the ship at the time of the drill, but can leave after (and perhaps before)? Or can you check in early, then head back off of the ship for the day until later?
