Sorry Jon - but I am a generous person and can't help sharing .... I am hoping for some better weather soon before I go crazy :upsidedow

That is a good deal for 95 euros - particularly if you could share the tour with another couple. Perhaps if a few are interested we could team up into groups of 4.

I don't know if my BFF Stephanie would like the toboggan ride but I sure would be interested. Just want to make sure to get a bottle of their wine!!!!!!

I went to see New moon last night, it was average I am sad to report, maybe I built it up in my head too much:confused3
Hope you all have a great day.

I went to see it last night too - thought it was better than the first overall, but the acting in most parts was very wooden and affected (Bella mainly).
Made me realise that Tony really needs to do a few sit-ups :rotfl:

So funny reading all the cold, rainy weather reports.
I would love some cool weather right now! It is about 95 degrees here today, and really humid, Just got back from seeing my personal trainer, dripping in sweat, eewwgghhhhh!!!!

Ill gladly do a house swap lol!

woooooo hoooooooo - another midwife !!!!! I would love to get out on the community but we are basically waiting for them to retire before a vacancy becomes available. I am hospital based and most of my time these days is spent training student midwives. I did a community stint for 3 months to cover a shortage and I loved it :goodvibes. We will have to compare notes !!![/QUOTE]

We should plan to have a nice sit-down and compare notes - I am really curious about UK midwifery. In Canada the model is a bit different. There are really some pros and cons to being independent. I was happy to see another midwife onboard too!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!

(DH and the kids are dual Canadian-US citizens, so I feel a little kinship!)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

Hope everyone is having a great day today..

Consider your dinner training for eating on the Magic.;)

We are cold and rainy.
I am off to visit my mom today, and will cook our Thanksgiving on sunday evening.

Can someone explain the taboggan ride in Madeira.

There are several words synonymous to Monte and ‘toboggan ride’ is surely one of them! Originally a fast means of transport down to Funchal for people living in Monte, these toboggan sledges appeared around 1850.

Still in use today, they attract thousands of tourists every year who want to make this exciting experience of sliding at high speed on narrow, winding streets down to Funchal. These two-seater wicker sledges glide on wooden runners, pushed and steered by two men traditionally dressed in white cotton clothes and a straw hat, using their rubber-soled boots as brakes.
The downhill journey to Funchal is made in about 10 minutes on a total course of 2 km, reaching at times a speed of 48 km/hour. Adventurous, yet safe, an ‘old-fashioned’ toboggan ride to make your way down from Monte is the perfect contrast to the high-technology cable car going up to Monte. Don’t miss out on it!

Find the Monte toboggans at the bottom of the stairs leading to the Nossa Senhora do Monte Church (tel. 291 783 919).

Even though we are far apart, we're sharing in the same wonderful? weather: gray, wet, and gloomy. But if that's the worst problem we have, it's all good :) .

I love the idea of teaming up for the tours. We'll have to see what we can do. Being total newbies to foreign travel, we appreciate any help we can get, such as this suggestion.

Thanks for all the Thanksgiving wishes from all our friends outside the U.S. And to all our compatriots, Happy Thanksgiving. To everyone, stay healthy and safe.

To answer the current questions, our favorite spot on the ship is our veranda or deck 4, depending on if we have an inside or outside cabin.

DH is a cost/project analyst and I'm "retired" and watch my DGD18mos 3-4 days a week.
