Hello everyone . I have not been on here in so long. I have begun my planning flights and tours and thought I would stop by and compare notes. Did not see much info though. Have we lost a bunch of cruisers to 2011 cruises?

I was shocked last week when I went on line and was able to book a cat 6 for some folks. They ended us cancelling, but I thought this was sold out. I gueass that is what I get for thinking.:lmao:

I am considering two airlines. I was hoping someone may have had some experience they would be willing to share. I am looking at Air Lingus and Scandanavian. We did lufthansa last time and I felt like it was a cattle car. We tried to upgrade, but it was 3000.00 a person at the airport. Needless to say we stayed in economy and grazed like the rest of the herd.

Have a nice weekend

We are still on the fence between this cruise and the Panama cruise. I start a new job on Oct 5th and I won't be getting any vacation until July '10 and than will only get 7 days so regardless I will have to take sometime unpaid also will be doing accounts payable for a school distict with Sept being a very busy month. I am going to talk to my boss when I start and see what she thinks. Lucky for me she is also my friend and I have already worked for her at another district. I value her honesty so I will base my decision on what she advises. Will keep you posted

Amtrak goes to Whitefish, MT. Couple hours north of us and very near Glacier National Park. That would be fun!

I've looked at their site, but never used them. Some of those prices are amazing.

We are doing the Alaska 7/26 cruise and we would very much like to cruise on the Dream. Probably not the first year though because we are doing this one and then Alaska less than a year later. Dream is certainly in our dreams though!
Dream is in our dreams someday too (hehe) but IDK if we want to do the short cruises. MAYBE in 2012 if nothing else "special" is going on that we want to do- then maybe if the prices are okay we might just plan a WDW trip with a 3nt/4nt back to back or something of that nature. Maybe the prices will drop a bit by then as well- I assume the prices are going to be higher on the new ship. We'll see.

I have a feeling we will be re-submitting the Roster.....after May. We will, no doubt have a big change......old peeps leavin' new peeps joinin'.

I understand completely. Going back to a 4 day would not be fun. However, as you said they may come up with something special in a year or so for the new ship. The Wonder did do the 10/11s I believe. We can hope.....and hope that we can afford the prices! :scared1:

I did not know Wonder did longer cruises.
Hmm, yes i will have to keep my mind open. If Dream does some longer cruises- we might have to try to jump on one. :)

Have a great cruise!!!!
Thanks.
Have a great time Woody. Bring the Magic back in one piece for me.
Thanks. The Magic was last week, and we brought her back safely. Tomorrow is non-Disney.

Hope you have a wonderful cruise- tell us all about it when you get back!
You betcha.

Woody, are you not just back?
Yes.

Tomorrow we leave on a 14-nt EB PC on Norwegian. Then we board a 14-nt WB PC on Celebrity.

Woody

Anyway it appears that my Tenby trip was not as exciting as yours but just as bad! I was packing when I got my 4th call from the caravan park to ask about an upgrade. They offered to move me to a Superior caravan for £60 for the 3 nights but as this was just a cheapy trip I again said no. To this they said "oh" and then explained that they were renovating some of their standard caravans and so would need to change our booking to a different weekend or they could give me a refund on everything but the Sun holiday part of it (£40 I think it was). They said for that I needed to contact the Sun and they "might" refund it. So looks like I might not be going anywhere this weekend.

At the moment Dan is trying to see if we can get a hotel in Swansea instead for at least Saturday as were going to see Up in Swansea on Sunday (about an hour away from us!). Not a happy girl today! Going to look at planning next year instead

Sorry to hear about your weekend plans falling through last minute : ( - hope you have managed to get a hotel in Swansea and at least salvaged something.

Hey Y'all!!

BTW - Here is a diet update. I got off the scale this morning and I am down 35 lbs!!! Lauren is down 15!!! This is from our start in mid-July. I really think we are doing great, seeing as that timeframe includes a 4-Night Disney Cruise. :cool1: We did no dieting during the cruise. Zip...zero....nada!! We figured we would enjoy ourselves. ::yes::

OK, that's enough rambling for now. Gotta get back to work.... :(

amazing weight loss - I am hoping to start working on mine from Monday - I have had a bad relapse in September with a lot of social events. Well done!

Today we're packing. We cruise tomorrow.

Woody

Thanks.

Woody

Woody - I seriously think we need to trade lives - hope you have a wonderful cruise with Norwegian and Celebrity - you will have to give us a comparison when you get back. Have a great time!

Can't wait to hear your report on these two lines!

I know I can find better fares on some of the other lines, but I sure like knowing my way around the ship already and the Disney service. I don't think I need to sit through the Disney shows again though. At least with the longer DCL cruises there is new stuff in the mix in that department. May be my 7 night cruises with DCL are history, at least till the new ships hit the waters. :confused3

I know if I end up trading this cruise for the PC that there will be the future possibilities of TA cruises on the new ships...even if I have to wait till 2012. Kind of like the idea of doing the crossing on a little bit bigger ship anyway. It's a blessing to have these kind of choices to make, isn't it? ::yes::

Hey Y'all!!

Lauren and I are already getting things together for our European Vacation (with the Griswalds?? :rotfl: )

I hear good things about packing cubes, so we are going to get some of those. We are wondering about Plug/Power adapters. Can anyone suggest a good set? It needs to work for charging our digital camera, netbook, a small travel hair dryer....I think that's it. I'm sure it will change.

We've already booked our Barcelona hotel as well as a self-guided city tour. We think its funny that the end of our European adventure is pretty much set, but we can't book London or Paris yet. :confused3

I am so happy for you both! That's really good!

That's excellent.

BTW...I'm doing the DOC :dance3: today. Got our packet delivered by FED EX today. :yay::yay:

Jealouse lol!

Today we're packing. We cruise tomorrow.

Woody

Woody you're on a cruise almost every week!

That is an amazing achievement. Well done to both of you.

Well, my two days off were not quite as productive as I had hoped. I am still not packed. However, all the confirmations for our vacation and the signature forms for the cruise have been printed off and have been sorted according to when we need them during our vacation. I also realized that I do not have enough swimsuits to take. Somehow I seem to have lost my favourite swimsuit and I was suddenly down to two. Trying to get swimwear in the UK in late September is easier said than done, but I succeeded in the end and got two new swimsuits. Four should be plenty.

Tomorrow it's back to work for me. I will have to pack either Sunday morning or evening.

Corinna

Yeah I agree its hard getting swimwear this time of year but as Lynne said Im sure I saw swimwear on sale in Tescos the other day so worth a look.

Ohhhhhh, I see now.
Well we are waitlisted thru our TA but were only waitlisted for the least expensive hotel (the one we'd originally had booked when we were taking the 10nt baltic B2B with the TA) because we have to have two rooms for our family of 5 and I can't see spending like $1200 for one night at Barcelona. :lmao:
I also don't really want to pay the deviation fee (if we kept DCL air) and not using their transportation- that would be the main reason to keep DCL air! LOL

What I'm wondering now is if our TA is able to get us rooms for one night before the cruise- which would mean we'd then be booked for DCL air and room... what would happen then if we decided to do air on our own if it was cheaper? I'm wondering if we'd lose that room or could still keep it. Anyone ever kept a room booked thru DCL if you cancelled the air with DCL?
I don't even know about Casa Camper and Hotel 1898..... are they less expensive? I can't get over how expensive the rooms are + we have to pay for two. :(

Um, I'm so jealous of you.
Just saying.
:lmao:
Hope you have a wonderful cruise- tell us all about it when you get back!

and

Oh I totally understand.
If the situation were reversed (for us the TA is the very expensive flight) I'm sure I would have felt the same way. I'm glad you aren't giving up this cruise! :)

Im glad too! This cruise in 2007 was the best Ive been on so Im hoping now to share the experience with my other half Dan who's not bee on a cruise before. Just hope he enjoys it lol

I think we have lost some at least to the new itineraries. It will be interesting to see closer to sail date whats happened.

Has anyone seen Brooklyne or Captain Jack around? Just wondering if they were still sticking with us or moving over to the PC cruise.

Well, things have started moving a bit forward on our end. A few weeks back we did a category change (ya just gotta love the California work furloughs!) but got a great Cat 7 cabin so we're still in happy land! We had booked Le Meridien for 2 nights but today just made it 3 nights (still at 179 euros/night) as we booked our flight this morning (departing LAX on Sept 14th) to BCN on BA points to arrive on the 15th.

Getting just a bit closer.......

Well its best to go with the better option for you. Either way youll have a great time.

I have a feeling we will be re-submitting the Roster.....after May. We will, no doubt have a big change......old peeps leavin' new peeps joinin'.

Yeah I think the roster will need a bit of a jig once everythings settled. Theyll probably be some but less movement when Dream comes out!

Thanks Sarah. Weve given up on the Swansea hotel as nothing coming up really so just camping out in the flat. Had Fondu night last night so that cheered us up and seeing Up tomorrow so should be good.

Thanks.

So jealous! Definately need you to compare all 3 lines for us so we can get an honest opinion.

I have found Air France from Detroit to BCN for $615.....how does that sound?

My window was $500-700.....so pretty much smack in the middle.

LOL definatley a blessing! I wish we could predict the lottery so well!

Glad you're sticking with us. Well done on booking the flight. Were still waiting for BA to open European flights for us. I think they open in 2 days so waiting!

OK I have a random question:

Does anyone know how it works with spending airmiles and release of airmile flights? Are all flights available to use airmiles with or just some? I was looking at Virgin Atlantic and it appears that there are no airmile flights available for August. I was hoping to use my airmiles for one flight and purchase the other so wanted to get them at the same time. Just worried now Ill need to decide whether or not to scrap the idea of airmiles or not. Could it be that all airmiles flights have gone for August even though almost every day is open for July and June so wasn't sure which is more likely.

I am too tired(at work) to reply to everybody, for those that are staying:woohoo:
For those lucky to be leaving and doing PC:woohoo:

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Globespan announced yest they were going edinb to fl:mad:
Typical, and I thought i was so smart booking glasgow.

Sarah, air miles, I got to line 3 then:dance3:

lol don't worry I'm tired so that could explain a lot! Gonna rewrite incase its not just us who are confused:

Want to book 1 normal flight and 1 with airmiles
Have had a look at the flights looking at those available at the moment (Aug)
Airmile flights are not showing as available
Does anyone know if this is because:
  1. They are fully booked
  2. They release airmile tickets after regular tickets
  3. They are not offering airmile tickets for Aug

Frequent Flyer bookings open 11 monoths before your proposed fight. I'm not surprised that there is nothing available. We managed to get flights out to LA last year before the Panama cruise, but had to pay full price for our return flights from FL due to school holidays.

Ah good point. August is bound to be busy! Thanks Heather! Fingers crossed October will be OK!

I was wondering the same thing. i'd gone back quite a ways on the thread and didn't see any posts from Captain!
