I JUST GOT A LITTLE PIXIE DUST!

I called TA who got DCL on the phone immediately and I knocked $325 off my price. That's for 2 people, (I'm currently booked as myself and "to be determined), but it's still a good deal for 1. SO...I have my cat 11 with my onboard rebooking discount and OBC...and OBC from TA....and I'm bringing home the MAGIC!

Wooooooo Hoooooooo - great news and a great saving - pixie dust sure is magical stuff!

Now I'm hoping for some pixie dust to help me get an upgrade :wizard::wizard::wizard:

Thank you so much for posting this website! We too are flying out of Detroit and trying to find the least expensive way to do it. Have you booked them before and if so, how was it? Any issues?

I'm also curious about any feedback on the fly cheap abroad .com guys. I just checked prices for IAD -> BCN and they have one-way flights on British Airways for $441/pp and Delta as low as $510/pp. I checked both airline sites directly and the one way prices were $1200-1300 per ticket! This of course sounds way too good to be true! I checked Tripadvisor and not a whole lot of feedback from actual travellers (after their trip).

I called and the call centre could book September 16th, the date I am looking at $538 USD all taxes. That was the 5 pm flight out of JFK, arriving in BCN at 10:10 am, next day.

Thanks for the information!

Air Lingus was booking us thru Chicago which put us in too late to catch the early DUB to BCN flight. We would have to wait for the 6 pm flight which put us into BCN in the evening. So we would have had an 8+ hour layover in Dublin which would have been fun, but exhausting.

The JFK to BCN is a MUCH nicer connection.

Jet Blue flies from HOU (NOT DH's preferred airport) to JFK. They have something on their webpage which said that they were partners with Air Lingus and would allow check thru baggage to Ireland. Not sure if that applies to BCN as well?

Still examining my options...

There is a direct flight from Atlanta or from Orlando with a change onto that same Atlanta flight. Delta. Flycheap looked to be just a little over $500. That is looking good to me. We could stash the RV in Orlando area and pick it up after a WDW stay on our return. :thumbsup2 So, never having flown internationally..:confused3.. is it best to book as soon as we can, or do airfares come down closer to flight time? I know when we book from the northwest to Orlando I always wait until a couple of months prior to the trip and get better prices.

Angie, Delta has a direct flight from JFK as well and the pricing as a direct is not so bad. It also sells as an Air France and one other Airline route, but all are operated by Delta, same plane.

Pj

I'm thinking about Orlando because of leaving the RV, getting from and to the RV when we get back into Orlando.

Hi all - Just thought I would post a couple of pictures from this weekend with my son (DBK1029) and my new daughter (in-law) (TheDisneyGirl02). The wedding was wonderful. They are both so very happy I wish you all could have seen their faces as they saw each other inside the church!! Both were just beaming!!!!
They are currently on their Disneymoon at WDW. They have their computer with them so I'm sure that you will hear from them later in the week.

It all looks wonderful! Glad that it went well!

This is my last post for a bit. Of on the Magic this Saturday with a few days before and after in WDW.

Heather, I'm sure you are having a fantastic time already! Very jealous here especially as its freezing cold and Im stuck in work.

I really don't understand the Aer Lingus site! I could almost book the Houston to Dublin portion (330 days in advance), but I could not book Houston to BCN or the JFK to BCN on one ticket.

You CAN book IAH to DUB or JFK to DUB now. (JFK to DUB was about $407 one way)

You CAN book the DUB to BCN with the same 330 days in advance for about66 euros one way. They have the two flights a day to BCN. One 6 am-ish and 6 pm-ish.

But when I tried to get prices for the entire JFK-BCN run, I got this weird note:

Flights do not operate on your selected travel date/s. Aer Lingus operates from Apr 14 2007 - Mar 27 2010 on days Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun

I wasn't sure if they were weren't going to offer the flight to BCN after 3/27 or what. I was-- and still am--very confused. :confused3 Maybe the layover of many hours was too long to be considered one ticketed flight?

I liked Air Lingus as you could book a reasonably priced one way ticket.

I am afraid of buying a round trip and throwing away half as I know it is technically against the rules of carriage for some airlines and with my luck I would be the one that they would choose to make an example of!!!

I've looked at Vayama and Cheapoair and they have some really good deals. I just wish I knew how reliable they are. :headache:

OK I think I know the issue. This may be due to having a Multi-Sector flight. I find that if I try to book London BCN, then Orlando London as one flight I couldn't and when queried I was told it crosses 2 sectors so can't be booked as a normal ticket has to be booked as an Open Jaw. Not 100% sure if this is the issue but could well be.

i just got a little pixie dust!

Ok, i was booked in a cat 10 because the 11s were sold out by the time i booked this cruise. I'm probably sailing solo, so the double bath is totally meaningless to me. Last night i saw the cat 11 open, but by the time ta read e-mail this morning it was gone. She told me that if i saw it again, to go ahead and do a second booking...she and dcl could reconcile them after the fact...and meanwhile, she'd continue to track it for me.

I am so totally obsessed. I looked 3 times today. It just popped up!!!

Our 330 day window opens late this week ...i'm going over a couple days early. I've had the same issues as above with aer lingus searches. I'll let you know if i find anything really good.

well done!

Hi guys, back again(legs still sore!)

That was like our panama canal cruise, we could only get a 10, I looked and looked , eventually got a 11c, then I had to look and look to get one for mum and dad, its funny how the disney site works?

Lynne how did it go? You should have come down to Cardiff and done the one down here on Sunday!

It was good, bit too soon after full marathon though, but a real lovely run, It was my slowest half ever but I met a lovely lady I ran with for last 4 miles.
I have nnever been to Wales so I might head down and do it some time!
We got runners rate at the macdonald hotel, 100 for 2 of us foe 2 nights bed and breakfast with lesuire facilities.
It was really nice.

Lens just come in for lunch, see ya all later, have a good day!

Lynne xx

Its still a lot quicker than I could manage it lol! Here's the link to the Cardiff one for you to have a nose at. Think they had a few hotels giving special rates.

I am seeing Aer Lingus as the most reasonable one-way option. Right now the JFK to BCN flight is only booking up to March 27, 2010. I have been checking weekly, ok daily, for when they will open up further. March 25 (a Thursday) is showing up as just about $500 after all taxes. I have been looking at buying a round trip ticket and they have been around $630 and up.

When I was trying to book the one-way flight to Rome on Aer Lingus for my Celebrity Equinox TA next month, I found the same thing. I did check daily and it finally opened up. The flights for the end of October became available on May 7, 2009. It was worth the wait, though - only $372 pp.

I need to book another one-way for the Oceania Regatta TA in March 2010, so I am checking Aer Lingus again. I hope the prices for that one are as good as my flight next week!

DH is on his way home from Helsinki. He is 10 hours into his 14 hour flight. He texts me his status so I get it when I wake up. He changed planes in Frankfort so at least now it is a direct flight.
popcorn::

Limo will pick him up as he is going directly to work. If it were me, I would be going directly home to bed!!!
