Hey everyone!
Haven't been hanging out on this thread in quite some time- hope all is well for everyone!

alexturner74- congratulations on your new bundle of joy! And boy is he a cutie pie!!!!!!!!!!! so precious!

FYI.....if anyone is even remotely interested in Le Meridien, you should reserve a room NOW. There was a posting on the main cruise board...and it may fill up. Of course, with all the peeps leaving, it may not.:thumbsup2
Whoa.
They are probably gone now but I've sent an email to my TA. When we cancelled our 10nt Baltic before this cruise the air and one night stay got cancelled- when we realized this and added back on the air...... there weren't any rooms to be had for the one night stay. I thought they were gonna try to snag us one if any openings came up but apparently not! :confused3 I hope at some point we're able to get a one night stay added on before the TA!

Did you book that on your own? Do you have air already thru DCL? I'm not even sure how to go about booking that on my own (ie: not thru TA) or how that works when you have air thru DCL already.

We're still doing the TA but planning on doing the repo to Vancouver and 1st Alaska cruise. We're gonna be mighty broke for awhile to save up for all this though- because we'll definitely want to do DL before the cruise and we MIGHT (might) even stay in Alaska for a bit after the 2nd cruise. We'll see if that materializes though. :lmao: But we're not cancelling this cruise no matter what. :)

Gonna catch back up a bit on this thread but I hope everyone is doing well.
Anyone else still planning on going on this cruise BUT is also going on either the Repo to Vancouver or the May 3rd Alaska cruise? Just curious.
(ps. we're not interested in doing the new ship- solely because we're not interested in doing shorter cruises. Are many of you planning on cruising the new ship when that's available for booking? Again, just curious)

Changes are that the prices you see at the moment are IATA fares (fares that are pretty much the same for every airline). The cheaper market fares should only be released about 330 days in advance. There is also no logic behind when special fares are released and they are likely to only be available on return fares. It might pay you to purchase a return fare Orlando Manchester Orlando, but not use the return part.

Corinna

I will certainly look into doing that if it is cheaper - so should we wait until we are 330 days to go before looking at flights?

Just a quick note to say Im away this weekend (going to a Caravan in Tenby - small Welsh seaside town) so not sure how much posting on here Im going to be doing. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Im away Monday but will try to pop on Monday night to see if we have more desserters lol and to see how manic booking was.

Bye for now

Hope you have a lovely weekend in Tenby Sarah. I have been there once and it was a bit of a disaster as I stepped on a weaver fish in the sea and ended up in hospital. It is a lovely picturesque village though and very relaxing I'm sure at this time of year.

Glad you're not cancelling this cruise :woohoo: I really gave it some serious thought but if we did the repo to Vancouver we would have had to cancel this TA cruise and in the end we decided to stick with this one. If I lived in the USA I would definitely have tried to do both - it's the flight costs for us which are the pain in the rear and bump up the cost of the holiday so much. We are looking for a cruise in Novemebr 2011 for my DH's 50th birthday, so the Dream would be an option - depending on what cruise they are doing at the time.

We looked at the Vancouver Repo too due to the price but decided that we can't really do both! Might look at doing something on Dream when its announced! I think that might be easier with the whole flights thing!

Virgin say they don't release until 330 days anyway so I guess thats when flights start dropping! I think thats the beginning of November
Hve a great weekend Sarah.
I hope you have a great time.

Anyway it appears that my Tenby trip was not as exciting as yours but just as bad! I was packing when I got my 4th call from the caravan park to ask about an upgrade. They offered to move me to a Superior caravan for £60 for the 3 nights but as this was just a cheapy trip I again said no. To this they said "oh" and then explained that they were renovating some of their standard caravans and so would need to change our booking to a different weekend or they could give me a refund on everything but the Sun holiday part of it (£40 I think it was). They said for that I needed to contact the Sun and they "might" refund it. So looks like I might not be going anywhere this weekend.

At the moment Dan is trying to see if we can get a hotel in Swansea instead for at least Saturday as were going to see Up in Swansea on Sunday (about an hour away from us!). Not a happy girl today! Going to look at planning next year instead

Yes, you will not getting any half decent prices until then and for some carriers, you won't get any at all.

You can add the hotel stay yourself...we had orginally had it booked thru DCL and it would have cost over TWICE as much, and they only had 2 nights available. You can book it yourself at the website, or call....it's pretty kewl actually. You click on a little box on website, fill in your phone number...and THEY call you! If you keep your air with DCL...you will have to pay a $75 "deviation" fee for arriving up to 3 days before cruise...and will not be able to take DCL Transfer TO the hotel from Airport. From what I have heard, it is a short, easy ride to hotel.....the hotel may even have a shuttle....I will have to look into that.

We have 3 different hotels booked right now! Le Meridien (DP 1st choice)...Casa Camper (My 1st choice)....Hotel 1898 (DD 1st choice 'cuz of the pool.) :rotfl::confused3:rotfl:

If you have any more ???? let me know!

Come to scotland, we are at work all weekend, it would be free, did I mention the crazy beagles??:rotfl:

Hey Y'all!!

Lauren and I are already getting things together for our European Vacation (with the Griswalds?? :rotfl: )

I hear good things about packing cubes, so we are going to get some of those. We are wondering about Plug/Power adapters. Can anyone suggest a good set? It needs to work for charging our digital camera, netbook, a small travel hair dryer....I think that's it. I'm sure it will change.

We've already booked our Barcelona hotel as well as a self-guided city tour. We think its funny that the end of our European adventure is pretty much set, but we can't book London or Paris yet. :confused3

BTW - Here is a diet update. I got off the scale this morning and I am down 35 lbs!!! Lauren is down 15!!! This is from our start in mid-July. I really think we are doing great, seeing as that timeframe includes a 4-Night Disney Cruise. :cool1: We did no dieting during the cruise. Zip...zero....nada!! We figured we would enjoy ourselves. ::yes::

OK, that's enough rambling for now. Gotta get back to work.... :(

That is an amazing achievement. Well done to both of you.

Well, my two days off were not quite as productive as I had hoped. I am still not packed. However, all the confirmations for our vacation and the signature forms for the cruise have been printed off and have been sorted according to when we need them during our vacation. I also realized that I do not have enough swimsuits to take. Somehow I seem to have lost my favourite swimsuit and I was suddenly down to two. Trying to get swimwear in the UK in late September is easier said than done, but I succeeded in the end and got two new swimsuits. Four should be plenty.

Tomorrow it's back to work for me. I will have to pack either Sunday morning or evening.

Ohhhhhh, I see now.
Well we are waitlisted thru our TA but were only waitlisted for the least expensive hotel (the one we'd originally had booked when we were taking the 10nt baltic B2B with the TA) because we have to have two rooms for our family of 5 and I can't see spending like $1200 for one night at Barcelona. :lmao:
I also don't really want to pay the deviation fee (if we kept DCL air) and not using their transportation- that would be the main reason to keep DCL air! LOL

What I'm wondering now is if our TA is able to get us rooms for one night before the cruise- which would mean we'd then be booked for DCL air and room... what would happen then if we decided to do air on our own if it was cheaper? I'm wondering if we'd lose that room or could still keep it. Anyone ever kept a room booked thru DCL if you cancelled the air with DCL?
I don't even know about Casa Camper and Hotel 1898..... are they less expensive? I can't get over how expensive the rooms are + we have to pay for two. :(

Today we're packing. We cruise tomorrow.

Woody
Um, I'm so jealous of you.
Just saying.
:lmao:
Hope you have a wonderful cruise- tell us all about it when you get back!

Glad you're not cancelling this cruise :woohoo: I really gave it some serious thought but if we did the repo to Vancouver we would have had to cancel this TA cruise and in the end we decided to stick with this one. Oh I totally understand.
If the situation were reversed (for us the TA is the very expensive flight) I'm sure I would have felt the same way. I'm glad you aren't giving up this cruise! :)

Since it is in the summer there shouldn't be a problem with a week on either side to explore. Will wait until you make your plans before deciding before or after the cruise. Is Amtrak near you? I do want to have time to explore Vancouver too.

Amtrak goes to Whitefish, MT. Couple hours north of us and very near Glacier National Park. That would be fun!
Have any of you ever checked out the website "vacations to go". If you click on the 90 day ticker you will see some really cheap last minute deals. Lat week there was a 5 day bahamas cruise with RCI for £98 - no joke!
I've looked at their site, but never used them. Some of those prices are amazing.

Hey everyone!
Haven't been hanging out on this thread in quite some time- hope all is well for everyone!

Gonna catch back up a bit on this thread but I hope everyone is doing well.

We are doing the Alaska 7/26 cruise and we would very much like to cruise on the Dream. Probably not the first year though because we are doing this one and then Alaska less than a year later. Dream is certainly in our dreams though!

I noticed tesco had lots of reduced swimmies today when I was in.

I bet you cant wait.

Woody, are you not just back?:goodvibes

I have found Air France from Detroit to BCN for $615.....how does that sound?

My window was $500-700.....so pretty much smack in the middle.
