Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.3

See Dans never been on DCL so he wants to do Palo. I don't like dinner really there as the food is a bit too fancy for me - may have to double dip if we end up with dinner - so brunch is what we really want.

I agree that the repo is going to be very hard to get if only gold and platinum get the early booking. My sister has wait listed for this with my parents. Now I'm thinking my parents should have wait listed with her as they would be gold members now. Might get them to put a request in too just incase. And might put one in for us as well as by then we would be on our 6th cruise. Do you think they would class the TA or will they not til we've been on it?

I think on the Transatlantic cruise your chances should be good to get something even if you were both first time cruisers. I still don't believe that the ship will be full. Add to this that you have twice as many chances for Palo dinner and more than twice as many chances for brunch and High Tea compared with a seven night cruise and you should be OK.

Unfortunately it believe that this will be based on completed cruises. The repo (if we can get on it) will be our 6th DCL cruise.

Corinna

I am not that worried about Palo. I do like Palo, but I prefer dinner over brunch. As the next three cruises will be nice long ones, I am hopeful that I still will get at least a dinner reservation. With all the sea days on the Transatlantic, there might even be a chance of a brunch.

What worries me is the advance booking. I figure the Repo cruise will be really difficult to get anyway and if gold and platinum members can book first, there might not be anything left over by the time we can book.

Corinna

I dont know what you are talking about, gold, silver??

fill me in please

We could all start lobbying disney for you! but seriously I am sure that they will come through for you but you could be doing without the stress I am sure.

Thanks yes stress and MS do not go well together. The biggest issue I have is my scooter. I need my scooter on the ship. Because my balance sucks on a ship. Thus making it very hard to walk. By the end of the day I can barely walk up to steps to sit at the front of the theatre. And if it is hot I struggle just to move my legs.

We talked about just and 11. It will not work. Too dangerous with the scooter in the room and my balance issues.

And with MS I have no idea how I will be in a year. I am just heart broken. Disney made the mistake. We put on the form that we filled out while on the ship when it was announced.

Only want disabled room. So I asked many times I had a guaranteed handicapped room. Yes but they could not tell me which one till closer to the cruise.

When they said yes there was a handicapped room and I forget how many hours they could hold it for me. I paid the deposit right away to not take any chances.

So when the confirmation came in and saif GTY #11 I had no second thought. But something was nagging at my hubby. So I checked it out.

If I could have taken a GTY room I would have booked on line for 250.00

You can only book handicapped rooms on the phone.

I just felt ill yesterday. We felt we won the lottery being able to sail transatlantic. And of course my walking sucked because of the stress.

We have never ever gotten any upgrades or anything special with Disney. But that is OK we never expect too. Just our luck. ROFL

But this was such a great disappointment.

They have had our deposit for almost a year. And that was when our Canadian Dollar took a nose dive. My hubby is not taking vacation this year to pay for the cruise in 2010. It is his birthday on the cruise too.

Just so sad. Thanks for letting me vent.

Sending :hug::hug::hug: and hoping that Disney are able to sort this out for you and that you get your disabled access room :wizard::wizard:
I would certainly be complaining very loudly if that was what I had booked!

Sorry Marilyn and Lynne! Should have explained ourselves (chatting on another thread about it too lol).

Disney's Castaway Club is changing. Basically they are going to do a teired system.

Silver will be for people who have done 1 - 5 previous DCL cruises. You basically get what you get now with this - 90 day booking window and gift and lanyards

Gold will be for those who have done 6 - 10 previous DCL cruises. With this you get an extra gift such as flowers or chocolate and 105 day window for booking trips etc and lanyards

Platinum will be for those who have done 11 + cruises. For this you get a better extra gift such as free Palo and the 105 booking window and lanyards.

Gold and Platinum Members also enjoy early booking opportunities for new itineraries and new ships

Or at least this is what they are telling us as as yet it hasn't been fully implemented on the website. There's also rumours that the lanyards & key to the world cards will vary between levels.

I'm really sorry that happened to you. I sincerely hope it gets straightened out. That's lousy.

I'm still crossing my fingers here that this will be OK in the end. I still can't believe they've made such a mess up of all this. You must be devestated and I don't blame you. Try and stay positive! Hopefully they will work something out for you. As you said you can't manage in a non-handicap Cat 11! I just hope that all the handicap Cat 11's have people who actually need them in! Personally, I am disabled but a disabled room wont be any use to me as I have issues with night vision. I wouldn't think of booking a disabled room personally but I don't know whether Disney actually checks to ensure that people are disabled in an appropriate way to warrent the room. As they are limited rooms I would hope they would but I don't know?

SO EXCITED!

Air Canada just announced DIRECT flights from Toronto to Barcelona! The price is pretty good, but they only allow you to book round trip tickets (where the price is not so good).

Anyone know if we'll be able to book a one-way to BCN on Air Canada?

Well at only our 3rd and 4th cruises coming up I dont qualify for the better benefits, I do think people should be rewarded for loyalty. I might not be saying that if I can't get booked on the Repo though!!! Palo I could manage without I guess.:sad2:

Thanks for your note. Yes Disney requests that you have the medical form filled out by yoru doctor. Saying you need an accessible room and why. So I do have that in my Disney medicals for previous cruises. And MS does not go away. :) If they have a person that does not need the room they will move them to put a person that needs one in there.

This happened one cruise for us. I had my first MS attack and had to regain my ability to walk. We had booked a cat 11 normal room. But after the attack I needed a handicapped room.

They moved the couple that had it because they did not need the room. We met them on the ship and they told us. They normally book the handicapped room, but also know if there is a request for one they are moved.

Still Have fingers crossed.

Oh I'm glad there's a proper system for this! I've always wondered lol. My great-uncle has MS and has done since I was a child and I know how bad it can be, especially if you are having a bad time. It's good to know that they do move people in that room if it becomes nessecary!

Sending you lots of pixie dust

:wave2: Hey Becky!!

Thanks for the info.. I will be on line this time. I forgot about the last podcast!:headache:

Ann :yay:

I am expecting lots of announcements, next week between September 10th and the 13th due to the D23 Expo.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I am off to Rochester, NY tonight for DCA (drum corps associates) championships. I am so excited that 1 year from Friday, I will be headed to Barcelona!

I just called Castaway Club, and the changes in the program will go into effect on September 11th. The cast member I spoke to said they are testing the website now, but he couldn't access my personal info yet. I wanted to make sure they have the right number of cruises for us!

We are booked on our 8th Disney cruise for the 3-night Disney Wonder on December 10th (the $99 deal), and the 90-day booking mark for Palo is on September 11th. So.... I don't get the early booking for this cruise!

If we sail on both the inaugural and repositioning cruises, the WBTA will be our 11th! I might have to do a short one before that, so we will be Platinum for the TA:goodvibes

Marilyn

We have been on six cruises so far, so I guess we are gold level. I am glad to see they are finally making it tiered so there are some rewards for those of us that travel with them a lot. We now only do the special cruises so I guess it will take longer to get to the next level. This cruise will be number seven and I am sure there will be more to come.

Cant believe its coming so quickly!

Marilyn - very confused now! Do you mean Dream & PC cruise? In which case surely they would be after the WBTA? Might be going back.

I wish mine was number 7. See if we lived in Florida I could jump on another one before hand lol

Oops, you're right -- wishful thinking, I guess. Maybe by the time of the Dream or PC cruise, I will have made 11!
