Happy Halloween to all that celebrate.

I don't write too often, but I do read the posts when I can.

Lots of newcomers. :welcome: to all! This is the next cruise we have booked and we have an Alaskan trip booked 7/12/11...so far that is it for us. Might try to sneak a Dreams in, but I don't see how. Kids are missing 2 + weeks for this trip and I can't in good conscience take them out for another week to do a Bahama's cruise during the same school year. May have to plan something without the kids in tow! :confused3

We did 4 days in DL last week...attended Mickey's not so Scary Halloween Party...my first time and that was fun. A fun time for all really and it wasn't that crowded for the party. DL was pretty crowded on Fri & Sat. The fireworks at DL were so awesome...we saw them a couple of times (even the youtube videos produces chills) and Fantasmic was awesome also. The crowds were shoulder to shoulder for both of these shows, but worth it. We chose our seats for the fireworks by 5:30 and I am not usually one to do that, but we didn't have the best viewing the 1st time we saw them and I wanted a very good view the 2nd time!

Still have not decided whether we are going to keep our hotel and air through Disney or change them to spend a few more days overseas or not. Decision time will need to happen in the next few weeks to get the best rates.

Been thinking about our FE gifts...what to do...what to do?

I'm not working like I use to. My business is down a good 90% or more. I had to lay off my employee and construction is not going to pick up anytime soon here in CA. The economy has finally caught up to me. DH wants me to close the business and stay at home...I'm not one to be idle and I have a lot of scrapbooking to do....My insurance renewal is in about 12 days...I probably will not renew and that will be the end. Don't know if I'm happy or sad about that. My mood on it changes hourly on it. Thankfully, DH is employed so we are not as pinched as some and I always have my fingers in a few pots to keep me going.

I'll try to post more and get to know many more of you in the next 11 months.

Linda

Hi everyone! I am new here. I just booked the cruise today! I am sailing with my DD and her husband and my two grandsons. We have done DCL before but this is our first trip overseas! Still cannot believe we booked it. My DD should be posting here soon too! Great to see such an awesome group.
I dont post much, but I am going to try. :-) Any tips from past TA cruisers would be appreciated. I get motion sick and am nervous already, but excited.
:goodvibes

Hello!!! I am CricketMOM (Vera)'s daughter! My dh and I just booked and we are so excited....and nervous! Never done a cruise this long, and this is the first time we are taking the kids out of the states. Not to mention we got a lot of saving up to do! LOL!;)
Thought we should introduce ourselves. I am Kamy, a SAHM with two boys. My husband Steve and I are DVC members and we love DCL.
My kids will be 5 and almost 4, so we are excited to see what other kids their age might be around. Any tips from previous TA cruisers would be awesome.
Just wanted to say hi!:goodvibes

Welcome aboard! This is going to be a great trip! We did the EB TA in 2007. I too get motion sick badly and was very concerned, but it was ok. I took bonine everyday and wore seabands. Some people say seabands are all in your head, but they work for me. A couple of times I would have a ginger ale (I brought a six pack with me - that will be harder to do this time going WB) and would also occasionally eat a green apple (old pregnancy morning sickness remedy.) In spite of the +20 foot seas most of the trip, I did fine. In fact, the heavy seas really add to the amusement of the trip!

As for the kids, my youngest DD was just shy of 4 and really shy. It was wonderful. There are so few kids onboard (just a few hundred total) that she never felt overwhelmed. The counselors were wonderful and there were lots of different activities. The characters were never mobbed, the mickey pool was not crowded, and with a longer trip, there was plenty of time to just "chill" and watch Disney movies on TV or the big screen.

Will be wonderful to see you all again.:cool1:

Thanks for the good wishes, believe me ... I loved them:lovestruc

I hope you all have a GREAT trip!

Unfortunately we will not be able to join you. :sad1:

Due to the horrible economic conditions here in Detroit! Kellie celebrated her one year anniversary of being unemployed...not exactly the milestone you look forward to.

We have moved our cruise to the EB Trans in May 2011 to give ourselves more time to save and plan and keep our fingers crossed things turn around.

I will be reading the boards to keep up, and look forward to all the trip reports to come!

Well sorry to hear that but I hope the 2011 cruise goes well!

Enjoy the May cruise and I`m so sorry about the circumstances that have made you change the date. May 2011 will soon be here!

Well I must say I like the look of the Disney Dream - especially the dining rooms - they look so pretty. I`ve sent the link to DD she`ll love it.
I`m still waiting for DD to return from her trip to Spain - however she decided to stay another week or so and is now heading to Marbella where my sister lives. The temps are in the 80`s - lucky girl. Oh to be a carefree student. I`ll get the info re Barcelona from her on her return and show her a cheap hotel I`ve found - about 60 euro`s a night and it has good reviews.

Thanks for the welcome Dolphingirl.

I've just finally managed to take a look at Dream today! Actually I was quite impressed.

Have you seen the inside staterooms? I so want one! This "virtual porthole for real-time views of the sea—plus virtual sightings of animated Disney characters!" sounds so fun! My mum read that Crush will talk to you!

Hi and welcome! I'm sure you will be fine! The last Sept TA was mega calm. The EB TA in April was a nightmare for weather with very strong waves (the pools were closed). Drink lots of ginger ale and eat green apples! These both worked well for my Dad who got a little green around the gills!
