We are at a State Park in SW Texas. We don't want to drive in the rainy, stormy weather so we decided to spend 2 nights here before we head to San Angelo for a day then over to San Antonio/Austin for 3 or 4 days. We just found out that you do not need a fishing liscense to fish in a Texas State Park (just need to pay the entrance fee). So, DrHug may get to spend a day fishing over by San Antonio. :thumbsup2

We had a fun day at Tombstone, AZ a couple of days ago.

We saw gasoline for $1.20 (yep not a typo) in Las Cruses, New Mexico! :yay: We had just filled up at a truck stop, but only paid $1.45 and the $1.20 station was kind of small and would have been difficult to navigate in the MH with the tow so we were not too disappointed that we had already filled up. $1.45 was good too. :thumbsup2

Welcome to Texas! Is it cold where you are right now? I am in San Antonio, and right now it is in the high 30s:eek: Hopefully by the time you get over this way it will be a little warmer. Hope you enjoy your time here.:goodvibes

they are so cute!!!

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

I'm new to these boards and can't wait to meet you all on this cruise. I've been lurking since I booked the cruise last October, but its so overwhelming trying to keep up with you all. You're a chatty bunch!

It'll be myself (35) and my two kids travelling DS14 and DD12 (at the time we sail). I can't believe my son will be in the teen club by then. Yikes!

Thanks to everyone for organizing everything. It looks like we have a great group!

Kelly

Welcome!!!! Be sure to check the first post for information on the web-site and logos!

Hi All. If I stop makaing sense (no not the music group:lmao: ) midway through this post please forgive me. We had "rented" our house and found out tonight that has fallen through. So, I am in rather a panicked state knowing that we have no renteres lined up and are leaving in 28 days and going to be paying rent and a mortgage and school fees and not having any clue how to pull THAT off. I am trying to distract myself from the nigthmare by DISsing (not working all that well:sad1: )

BTW, Hadley, how in the WORLD do you find time to chit chat with us with all you have going on?! Don't get me wrong! I'm thrilled to see you, but I just don't know how you have free time! I'm so glad Dave didn't have to go in advance. That's got to be a huge help!

It is the carrot I use to get myself throguh packing. One hour of packing up rooms and 15 minutes on the DIS:thumbsup2 . Except tonigh I get until I can quit crying and calm down. I should not let this stuff bother me like this, but it does.

The park we don't like is Animal kingdom, except for 3 rides...Everest, the safari, and the whirl (??? that little rollercoaster in Dino Land.)
:scared1: :scared1: Deanna HOW can you not like Animal Kingdom. Oh it the BESTest place. I lvoe, love, LOVE  Festival of the Lion King and the safari and just the whole feel of the palce. I DO miss Tarazan Rocks (Nemo doesn't do it for me)

Taken today, 11am!!!!!!!!!!!If you are interested in the scottish weather
Adorable. Thanks for sharing.

Ok, so if I promise the kids a ride on the ponies will you come visit me in scotland??:woohoo:
Dave would love to go back to Scotland (and i would love to go for the first time). Dave and his sister spent a summer in Europe in the 90s and I think Scottland was his favourite. Scottland wasn't originally on the itenerary, but Dave insisted on going to see where his Lynn stereo was made (gotta love those college aged priorities:rotfl2: ). Yes, he did tour the stereo factory--what EVERY one wants to do on their big European vacation, eh?:rotfl:

No, in Germany Christmas is celebrated on Christmas Eve rather than on Christmas Day. In Southern Germany the Three Wise Men come around to bless the house on January 6th. They write their initials and the year with chalk over the door which is meant to bring good luck. They also tend to collect money for charity on their way round.

Corinna
Works great for us as we already celebrate on Christmas Eve:thumbsup2 WE will also get to celebrate St Nick's Day on December 6th I believe:goodvibes

The Dawn (and the Sun) are pretty much permantently based out of Australia at the moment. We sailed from Sydney to New Caledonia and Vanuatu then back to Sydney. It was amazing sailing out of Sydney Harbour (it has to be the most beautiful harbour in the world!) past the Opera House and under the Sydney Harbour Bridge - only 2m clearance!

We did do Puerto Vallarta last year on the EB repo though - we went ziplining and it was amazing! Can't say we saw anything of PV itself though :rotfl2:

Ah, so you vacationed closer to home this time around:thumbsup2 I am glad you had fun. I never have done the PV ziplines but I know my dad loves them--he says they are in a very pretty piece of jungle.

Seeing the beautiful snowy ponies (which are beautiful!), I thought I'd just show off about the temperature, its currently 87F=31C outside right now. I've just been for a walk and its pretty darn warm! Anyone wanna come for a mini-meet? :rotfl:

Tomorrow is going to be even warmer apparently - unfortunately I have a busy day tomorrow moving a client's servers to a new building so its going to be hot, sweaty and dusty work - can't wait :rotfl2:

MEENIE (where is the sticking out one's tongue smilie?!)

:grouphug: Hadley, I'm so sorry about the house falling through...maybe it means that something better is coming your way!

I had my first at 26 and after delivering 5 girls (one passed) and adopting two more girls, we had our first boy when I was 38, and then as I said, the last at 41. Hehehe, maybe you SHOULD try for that boy. heheheh!

Seriously, two is a good number. Two kids fit into the rooms on the ship better than 8, which means MORE CRUISES!!!!!! Tell your husband that's why you ned to stop at two! Those family room are pricey!

 Thanks. I just keep telling myself something had to give and we are all healthy and safe so it has to be okay, right? I haven't quite convinced myself yet, but I'm trying:goodvibes

:rotfl2: That is our usual answer to do we want anymore. "Uh no--DCL rooms are built for 4!" Either that or the simple "We have no desire to be outnumbered:laughing: "
Deanna--I am constantly amazed by how well you handle having so many children and how lovely and well behaved they all are.

Kelly, we traveled south for the holidays and our snow melted while we were gone, turning into an inch thick sheet of ice all over our driveway. Nice.

Illinois is optional, as well. We were even considering looking at property while down in Florida this time. We have 4 acres here and after our chickens froze to death in the -30 wind chill/blizzard (as did other poultry in our area), we were even thinking of a total life style change--- moving into a condo, hiring a maid twice a week to clean and just sitting by a pool or on a beach for the duration!

Hadley, Ak is too crowded for me. The streets are good at mimicking Africa and Asia, but are too narrow for my comfort. I love the wide spaces and landscaping and tastes of Epcot.

Best of luck on Wednesday and please up date us when you feel up to going online as I will be worrying in the meantime (its the mom in me--I worry about everyone all the time:cutie: )
Thanks for the well wishes, Hadley! Don't worry, it will be fine...I'm just not looking forward to the post-op pain! Right now I'm sitting with my right knee bent thinking that in 48 hours from now, I won't be doing that for sure! LOL!!!

Dave is still here:love: They would have liked to have had him start Monday in Germany but couod not process the work permit fast enough. So, we will all head over together at the end of the month (I like to keep us all together as much as possible anyway--when he travels for work I miss him soooo much; yes I am still totally in love 13 years after we got married). Speaking of weddings, how are your plans going?
Glad to hear that Dave is still at home with you! Our wedding plans are coming along. We still need to get a photographer, DJ and ceremoney site. It will all come together though. :)

TheDisneyGirl02- good luck with your ACL surgery- how long will you be recovering/aka stuck at home? I hope all goes well and will be glad to see you post afterwards.
Thank you for the well wishes too! I'll most likely be home from my full time job (mostly a desk job) for 2 weeks but my part time job (The Disney Store) I'll be either 4-6 weeks.
After a week or so, I can go out of the house and and do short trips to the store. I'm usually in a wheelchair at the stores though but at least I'd be out of the house. :) By the way, welcome aboard!

Kelly

Welcome!!!!! :)

I was just on the Magic for a Double Dip cruise in September and I thought the Quest thing was for 11-13 and then the 14 year olds went to the Stack. He's pretty excited about going to the Stack. Me....not so much :worried: But, you're right - they change it up once in awhile, so I'll keep my eye on it.

Either way, the boy will not be complaining to be spending 14 days on the Magic! :woohoo:

I was on that cruise too with MagicMe and my future DH!

We were on that cruise as well. We told the kids it was the last family vacation we were paying for since they are now 20, 21, and 24. Their response was we will believe it when we see it. To tell the truth they are probably right since we are DVC members.

Wasn't the Double Dip great?!

OMG Hadley! Can the company Dave is going to work for help out to try to secure housing for you? Please let us know how it all works out! I'll be thinking about you!

So recently my 10th high school reunion was held. I had no interest in going but I actuallly ended up working that night. So since then, I've been getting so many friend invitations on my Facebook from people from high school. It's kind of interesting and strange because I really didn't like high school and the people there. Now I'm getting friend requests from some people who I wasn't even friends with. I guess I'm still afraid that the people who were nasty to me are still the same. I'm sure some are, but I'm hoping that many have grown up. Sigh....sorry, just had to get that out!

We have a winter storm watch for tomorrow night into Wednesday...just in time for my surgery! Should be fun! :)

:rotfl: I guess I didn't STOP making sense, I didn't even START to make it;)
We DO have somewhere to live in Germany. A lovely townhome we signed a lease on last month. What we do not have is anyone renting our place here--meaning we will be paying the mortgage for our home in New Hampshire with no rent money comming in to cover it AND paying for the townhouse in Germany (and the kdis school tuition which I was already worreid about:eek: ). So basically I am stressing about $$$$ like most everyone else in this economy:rolleyes1

I am glad the wedding plans are commin along nicely and I look forward to seeing lots of posts from you while you are recovering:goodvibes

My MIL lives in SA too, she called tonight and was complaining on just how cold it is!

Oh my gosh Hadley, I hope it all works out quickly for you!!

We know we are stopping at two, like DH, there is two of us and two of them and that is enough! Doesnt help though that he is one of 10 kids, the oldest with the "family name" to pass on!

Much of our snow melted while I was on vacation too. But instead of going south I got the bright idea to drive to Canada. Winnipeg in the winter....who came up with that idea? :scratchin

They actually had less snow up there than we did down here! But what they lacked in snow they made up for in cold. Its really stinkin cold up there. My daughter was visiting a ballet school up there and we visited friends who we actually met in WDW....so I'm not a complete doofus. There was a purpose to the trip.

And I love your idea of a lifestyle change. I'll trade in my shovel for a fruity drink poolside any day! Sign me up!

On your way down to Florida, could you swing by Indiana and pick me up? I am freezing my rear off!

I love your ponies. A little more info on them, please :flower3: . (How many hands are they? Names? Oh, you know...)

NZ is one of the places on the earth I'd love to go; maybe someday??

If y'all are talking about the Sept. 1st cruise, we were on that too. Amazing! How about the huge swells from Hurricane Hannah? I'm sure glad the captain knew how to get around the worst of those.

That pony is adorable, do you show them, I like to ride Murphy (the big one) In a few weeks he will be clipped and back to work. He is 15.2, I have had him since 1 years old, he is nearly 13 now!!
The little one is actually on loan from a horse charity, although you can buy a shetland for 50 pounds! I took her as nobody wants to take them on loan and I am a sucker as she(Marcy Baby) was 26 when we got her!!! We had just lost our 32 year old and I dont think my heart was ruling my head when we were needing a friend for Murphy.

Hadley, sorry, but things usually always work out, I am sure it will be fine, just a bit more stress for you to endure!! and then it will be cool!

Paul, my hubby would love to go to newzealand, one of these days we will have to come!! We had friends that went to stay, they keep saying come visit, so many places so little pounds!!

My kids love DS, almost as much as MK! If they were older I could see us not doing the park very often. I rode RNR and thought I was going to have a heart attack! I am too old for the coasters anymore I think, I shook for 10 minutes afterwards lol

Yeah see I hate coasters and can't do TOT (got stuck in a lift once and will never do anything that jokes around with lifts falling as I thought it was going to lol). Dan loved both but even he said the park doesn't seem to have enough in it and is so badly organised (mainly due to the extended bit of RRC&TOT that it just doesn't work). I much prefer Animal Kingdom
