Sept 20 - 25, 2011: Vancouver to Los Angeles
Sept 25 - Oct 2, 2011: Mexican Riviera
April 7, 2012: Fantasy Maiden Voyage

Thank you. Posted on post #2

We tossed and turned all over on this one, Marilyn. We just packed too much into 2011. We had such a ball on the WBTA but we can do a very inexpensive flight MEX-VAN/LAX-MEX so we're gonna grab that. (STILL wishing those fares for the PC cruise would come down, but that's not looking likely either!).

Michael

Hear where you are coming from as we debated on the same Vancouver to LA repo since we live on the West coast and cheap flights home from LA are attractive.

What decided us is we still have enough airline miles to get back to Frankfurt for only $5.00 for the two of us. Plus, we have hotel points for a hotel in Frankfurt and one in Barcelona. Since we will come in this time just in time for the cruise, no extra tour expenses.

I know we can pick up another pretty cheap flight to Barcelona so for us it is a better deal. We needed to use those airline points by September 2011 so works perfect for us.

How about spring break instead on the Fantasy? The Apr 7 2012 maiden voyage of the Fantasy is what we have decided to do in 2012.

Marc and I are also on the Fantasy's maiden voyage.

We're still crossing our fingers that the Magic will do a WBTA in the fall of 2012, too. We did rebook the 2011 onboard but there's too much happening that fall already....like a b2b on the Wonder, Van - L.A. and then followed by a Mex Riviera. All of that takes place during the WBTA so can't be in both.

Michael

OK - so I would love to do the maiden - not sure about Glenn... Are they sold out yet??? I may have to look into it... Maybe I can talk him into WDW for September...

I would love to see you and cruise with you guys again!!!

Sue

Have to share what just happened to me... It makes the WBTA even more special... Relax - it is nothing bad at all - infact quite the oppposite!

One of the very last nights of the cruise I was taking Becca, Bell and Lucy up to the club and Warick, Dave, Chip and Dale were out in the Atrium. Pablo was taking pictures and Claire was there as well. The whole gang! Well, we got pictures with Chip and dale, even did a pyramid with them and the girls. Then Becca asked Warwick to do a herky (Cheer leading jump). Dave started to tease him, and pretty soon everyone was jumping.

Well, one thing led to another and somehow everyone was talked into doing a toe touch jump for the camera. The shot looked great on the camera - so I ordered a huge one (largest they would print) and Dave, Warwick chip and dale were all to sign it. There was some hold up on getting the print and everyone got busy - so I got the print with no signatures.

Well, about 2 weeks ago I thought I would reach out to Autumn (concierge - aka my Fairy Godmother) and ask her if there was any way to get it signed. She asked for the photo number, I sent it and the JPG file. Well, I didn't hear back, and I know that Warwick was getting off the ship and moving to Animal Kingdom, so I gave up. Not a big deal - I would get it matted and framed as it was and if we were heading to WDW in the spring I figured I could take it, put it in a tube and see if Warwick was working, and then find Chip and Dale. 3 of the 4... Not too bad...

Well, fast forward to about 20 minutes ago. Autumn just wrote to tell me that she was leaving shore side concierge on the 12th to go do on board sales for the Dream. oh, and by the way, Lynda was able to get a copy of the photo printed and signed by everyone in it! Lynda is leaving it in the port office on Saturday to be shipped on Monday.

Brings tears to my eyes I tell you! I am beside myself with the extra mile these folks have gone, and wish I could reach out and hug them all again!!

So, all of this makes my next cruise hard as it is not on DCL. However, it looks like there is a group of us on the Fantasy Maiden, so maybe we will have to move our dates up... Need to check with Glenn to see if we can swing it...

Thanks for letting me share. Miss you guys!!

Sue

Not sold out I think because of the non refundable deposits. We choose a lower category than we normally do because of the cost but John wants to try a maiden voyage. We are in 6082 which is still a veranda but just not as high as we usually are on the ship.

We would love you to come on this cruise with us. I am trying to talk my DD and her family into coming as well.

OK - we are out the week before for our spring break... So we are back to fall break in September...

So sorry you can't take the time off as the group over there is shaping up to be almost as good as the WBTA one. We will miss you!!

yes always a shame when you can't cruise again with fellow cruisers.

Regarding Ducky Williams certificates

This is the response I got from DCL:

11/2/10 Dear Angela:
Thank you for your e-mail. Please accept our regret for any disappointment with the certificates for the Ducky Williams print and any delay in sending a correction. We would be happy to provide you with the correct certificate. However, ifpossible, can you please fax to 407-566-3541 or reply to this e-mail with an attachment of the incorrect certificate that you received. Please allow 2-3 weeks for the certificates to be replaced once the requested information is received.
Sincerely,
Joseph

And the response I sent them (again thru their website including an explaination that I cannot reply as Joseph suggested as the email address he used does not allow a reply)What???? It was verified on board that we received the wrong certificate. We gave our name and address which was put on a list. Please explain why I need to go to the expense of faxing this to you. We are retired, do not have an employer provided fax we can use and no way to "attach" a copy of a document. Do you not have verification from the ship, with the list of names that needed corrected certificates?

I think I am the grumpy lady now. They should follow through with what they promised on the ship and get these sent out to all of us.

just catching up and saw this! This sucks! I know with our Stateroom gifts they actually brought something for us to sign at the same time as the Ducky print card to sign to say we had it and everything was fine. Here's hoping that they actually respond with something better than this!

I did not have to sign for anything this time. On the Med cruise I had to sign for the Castaway Club gift, but nothing at all this time and we had a stateroom gift as well.

Hi everyone ... just back from a long weekend in London .... it really made me appreciate how well things are done in other European cities. The Underground system was appalling ... it took us a 7 hour round trip to get from the docklands to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner, due to line closures, delays, suspected emergencies etc etc. Total Nightmare. How London Transport will ever cope with the crowds expected during the Olympics is beyond me.

Also there is no longer any British atmosphere or identity to London ..... in 4 days we were served by ONE person who spoke English as a first language. At least in Barcelona it feels like Spain, and in Rome / Venice it feels like Italy, but in London you could be anywhere in the world ... a very strange place indeed. Maybe that is a good thing ... :rotfl2:

Visited some interesting places: The Tower of London, The Ceremony of the Keys, and Camden Lock Market, and the MCM Expo (where the kids were). I will be posting some interesting photos sometime soon.

I am sorry that your trip to London did not work out the way you were hoping to. The delays on the Underground sound horrible. We normally stay in the Docklands when we come to London and quite often we get caught up with engineering works, but nothing on this scale. As far as finding hardly anybody who speaks English as a first language in London, this was always my experience ever since my first visit in 1993. I am actually absolutely fascinated by this. I love the colourfulness that this brings to the city.

Hi everyone

moving house so i will lose my broad band. I am going on 3g which seems to be ok actually so far in my tests. I have a 15 GB allowance every month. We will see.

I will only really post trip reports now and then But i will post

Moving to a new place that is alot cheaper (over £100) that is better in my pocket and my holiday fund!!

I will see if the 3 g is ok then I will if i have to install line base broad band - cannot do without internet.

jason

I hope that your move goes smoothly and that you are back with us soon.

DD Taryn has now been offered a face to face interview with Disney fir the ICP next summer .... one stage further !!! ( and one step closer to me making some holiday plans! )

I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I am keeping busy here as well. I had three days off over the weekend and yesterday we went to see the Tutankhamun exhibition that opened in Manchester just over a week ago. Graham was a bit reluctant about this when I suggested this, but he was just as fascinated by it all as I was. We had a wonderful time and spent about 3 hours in the exhibition. The museum that the exhibition was shown in is right next to one of the big shopping malls so we spent some time afterwards going window-shopping and then had a lovely meal.

I have some photo issues as well. Now that I have downloaded all the photos from my camera and from the CD, I noticed that I am missing at least 50 photos. Essentially none of the photos that were taken after September 27th made it onto the CD. As I was not feeling too well on the debarkation morning, I just cast a cursory glance over the sheet with the thumbnails and did not notice anything that was missing. I have now emailed them with a detailed description of the missing photos. They emailed me back today asking for our full names, cabin number and reservation number and said they would forward this to the photo manager on the Magic to see if the photos can be recovered. I just hope that this can be sorted out.

I had a bit of a surprise today that first had me absolutely delighted, but soon turned sour. I think I mentioned before that I have applied for a promotion in Dubai. I have been anxiously waiting for an update for the past two weeks. Today I had an email saying that I have been shortlisted for a written assessment in Dubai. I was very happy with this, until I saw the date. I was supposed to be in Dubai for this tomorrow morning. There is no chance I could have got there on such short notice. Even if I had picked up the email yesterday, when it had been sent, it would have been too late to get all the arrangements made. I have now emailed them back to ask if I can do the assessment here in Manchester or if I could come to Dubai to do it at a later date, but so far no reply. I just have to keep my fingers crossed that something can be sorted out.

I did however have one lovely surprise. I had ordered a new evening gown for semi-formal night. This was coming from China again and it normally takes a month to produce and then another week to 10 days for it to arrive. I had ordered this on October 19th and it already arrived today. It is royal blue satin with black lace overlay and a bit of a train. It looks really stunning. I think I might well have the same dress made in ivory with ivory lace for our vow renewal.

I wonder if that is the same one we saw earlier this year. I took my DD Jennifer as we saw the Tut exhibit 30 years ago.

I think they had massive amounts of problems with the photos this cruise.

pixiedust: and prayers that your assessment can be done in Manchester. I agree it seems unreasonable for you to be in Dubai on such short notice.

How exciting! Keep us posted!!!!

That is AWESOME!!! So is this program advertised anywhere? How do we learn more incase on of our kids wants to try and get involved?

Sue, since you are here in the states, your kids would want to looking into the WDWCP - Walt Disney World College Program. I actually did the program twice and I LOVED it. There is a lot of information on the web about program, but I can answer some questions if you have any. :)

The dress sounds lovely. Looking forward to seeing it in January.

When I think about the WBTA, it always brings about a smile. What a terrific cruise!

Fast forward. Today we went to Disneyland. We used our vouchers for free admission (for volunteering a day at Habitat for Humanity).

Today's highlight was the Haunted Mansion Holiday, decorated in the style of the Nightmare Before Christmas.

We had such a good time that we got annual passes.

I hope everyone is doing well.
