Sept 16 2012 - WONDERing who's on the Calif Coastal with me?!

Did you see the latest news about our cruise?

Which Pixar offerings on Disney’s California Coastal cruises are the most enticing to you – character encounters…artist and filmmaker presentations and sneak peeks…the onboard film fest or the Pixar art gallery?

WOW! Even more to look forward to on our cruise! :smickey:

Susan,

I really enjoy taking pictures with characters and I have amassed a nice collection so adding new photos to my collection would be nice. Nevertheless I would have to say meeting the artists and all the other sneak peeks is what really sold me on this cruise.

This information was posted to the Disney Parks Blog today:
If you‘re a fan of Pixar Animation Studios’ award-winning films, you are going to love the new offerings announced today for Disney Cruise Line’s seven-night California Coastal voyages this fall.

Disney Cruise Line Announces Pixar-inspired California Coastal Cruises

During these voyages, Disney Cruise Line guests will be able to interact with and explore the world of Pixar and their beloved characters while the Disney Wonder sails to popular port cities along the coast of California. Special entertainment and offerings designed for both children and adults include:

Artists and filmmakers from Pixar Animation Studios will provide an inside look at the creative process used to develop an animated feature which includes a look at the making of Pixar’s newest release “Brave” and a sneak peek at footage of future Pixar films.
Storyboards, character sketches, environment paintings, maquettes and other inspiring concept art used to design Pixar films will be on display in a special art exhibition at sea. This collection of art has only been seen outside of Pixar Animation Studios when displayed at leading art museums around the world.
Guests will be able to enjoy the entire Pixar library of films while onboard, including a selection of delightful animated shorts. The voyages coincide with the theatrical premiere of “Finding Nemo 3D,” which guests can enjoy at either of the two theatres equipped with state-of-the-art Dolby 3D projection systems.
For the first time, more than a dozen Pixar characters will meet with and greet guests throughout the cruise including Mr. Incredible, Remy, Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear. There will be a special Pixar-themed dance parties in the Atrium Lobby and a host of other opportunities for guests to reconnect with their favorite Pixar pals.

Guests sailing on the Pixar-themed voyages will also receive a commemorative lithograph created by Pixar artist and “Brave” co-director/screenwriter, Steve Purcell. These Pixar-inspired California Coastal cruises set sail Sept. 16, Sept. 23, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 from the Port of Los Angeles.

I just saw this and was about to posted it here. This is cool!!!

I am so excited about the Pixar announcement. Jessie is my daughter's favorite and always seems to be left in the shadows of all of the other Disney characters.

OMG I almost hyperventilated when I read this!!! I was excited now and NOW I am soooooo excited and amped.

Pixar movies would be my kids most favourite movies of all time. They will be stunned - Koby my 5 year old, will hyperventilate when he sees Mr Incredible.

Would that mean that when we leave the pillowcases etc at guest services. the pixar stars will sign too????

OMG Buzz lightyear... eeek!!!!

Wow wow wow:banana::hippie:popcorn:::yay::dance3::woohoo:

After noticing the Facebook posting regarding the Disney/Pixar cruise I booked my reservation for this cruise.

Looks like Disney's extra promotional advertising might get the desired additional bookings. Yesterday afternoon I noticed nearly every category of stateroom was still available. I think perhaps the only ones completely gone were categories 12, 8, and 3 or 2?

Sorry Disney, but I'm looking forward to a less than full cruise  - especially since we'll be on the Fantasy for spring break/just before Easter. Ugh. :sad2:

GuardMusic, I think your correct that these Disney/Pixar cruises will most likely capture additional bookings. I would have never booked this cruise if it where not for the extra promotion for two reasons. First I've been to all these ports numerous times (I live in SoCal) and second I don't have enough vacation days to cover this trip so I am going unpaid.

On a separate note, you are going to love the Disney Fantasy. I was on the maiden voyage and I was blown away.

We're booking this cruise today! We went on the Wonder last October and did the Mexican Riviera and can't wait for this cruise! My DD's will be 4 and 1 1/2 when we set sail. I'm even more excited now that the Pixar characters will be there!! My 4 year old LOVES Jessie!!

Relief!

Just finished booking our port adventures, etc. The system seemed more user-friendly than in the past. We were able to secure all of our requests:

Tuesday - 9:30am - Views of San Francisco – Adult Only Departure
Tuesday - 6:30pm - Palo
Wednesday - 9:45am - Walt Disney Family Museum
Friday - 8:15am - San Diego Trolley Car (We may cancel this and do it on our own, because we're not fond of waking up early on a cruise.)

Typically we never leave the ship, except for CC, so this will be a VERY different experience for us. Luckily we have a larger than normal OBC; we'll definitely need it for all of these port adventures, Palo, & tips! But I've never been to SF or SD so I figure I should take full advantage of our trip halfway across the country!

Any/all feedback on our choices are welcomed!

I must be doing something wrong because, I had a hard time figuring out what you needed to do to book the activities. I still have not be able to do the online check-in. I don't know what is going on. I can't even see the total damage of the booked activities. I really HATE this new process.
:goodvibes

Our booking window doesnt open for another month :( Though we are only looking at booking a port adventure for esenada. We have been to SF and SD before so we are planning on doing our own thing. The California academy of science will be on the list :) for SF

My kids are so pumped for this holiday. We are heading to Anaheim for 5 days, Hollywood for 4 days, Carlsbad for 3 days and then to the port for the night before. Then home after our cruise :(

Have a great day all

Sunshine1259,
You're right about the port adventures. Once you book them the prices are no longer shown. I had my pen, paper, & calculator out at 12:30am totaling the damage. This is typical Disney... Ensuring you can't easily track your spending (in case you want to limit it or keep to a budget). All of this plus tips and shopping (onboard and on land) will more than make up for our bonus 20% onboard booking discount. :(

Also since we can book now, the options actually tell us what time each port adventure will be. So if anyone has any questions about the times, just let me know & I'll post them here.

Gayle, did you notice the various asterisks by certain things? I could not figure them out or what they mean. I looked but could not find anything. What about you?
