Nope, won't even think about till a week before we leave.

Ha ha... I'll probably get around to it the day before we fly out there.

Hi there!!!!
32 days till we are on board the ship.. YEAH.:cool1:

My name is Taryn and we are frist time cruisers. We are from Australia and I will be travelling with my husband and our 2 children, DS (3) and DD (turning 1 on the 20th september).

For those who are doing alcatraz not on the tour but privately, what is the best way to get to where ever we need to be?

thanks Taryn

Welcome Taryn! Looking forward to meeting you.

The Alcatraz tour leaves from pier 33 and we dock at pier 35 so not too far!

We are taking a taxi or the trolley. A friend said it's about 3miles to the stadium from where the Wonder docks at Pier 35.

We are also going to see the Giants Game Tues night. I just looked on Stub Hub and there are numerous tickets for sale at all prices!! I also booked tickets for the Alcatrez tour... first one Wed Morning....and we also are going to do the Chinatown Tour Wed night thru DCL.

San Diego we are going to do the HOHO bus for the day and Mexico we will probably venture out for a Corona or two.

We are flying in on Friday and staying at the Howard Johnsons in Anaheim till Sunday and getting two day hoppers for the parks.

You guys may have seen this already, but my mom got an email today regarding her Disney Rewards Visa, and there was a link to a special that ends today. If you book a cruise using your Disney Visa, you get a $50 credit and a copy of the Pixar book THe Art of Pixar. Here is a link to the offer:

http://disneyrewards.com/offers/dcljune12

Also, if you use your DV to pre-purchase a ticket for the Mickey Halloween Party on September 28 it is only $46 also...

My mom had already booked the cruise on the DV, of course, but she called and got the deal retroactively. Just in case any of you booked with your visa and want to try and do the same. This is especially nice, because someone on here had posted they were going to bring a Pixar book to be autographed and I had decided to do the same thing and was very close to ordering it on Amazon, but now I can save the money :thumbsup2

That is SO cool. I applied for a DV and was denied. They said we don't have the "supplemental income" for one since we are both full time students. What they don't take into consideration is the fact that I worked 3 jobs before I started school to save up enough that we would be fine financially while in school. They also don't care that I took everything into consideration when saving such as medical and vehicle emergencies. *sigh* guess I'll just have to be patient until I pass my licensing exam... I'm really looking forward to those kind of rewards.

What if you booked the cruise using the Disney Visa? Are you still entitled to received the book? That would be great!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:I just called Disney and they said that we would receive our book onboard the ship:cool1::cool1::cool1:! This cruise is the cruise that just keeps on giving and giving....

Anyone started packing yet?

After packing for a 3 day weekend in Melbourne, I have decided to get on top of it as soon as I get home.

Any tips from those who have already done cruises before?

We are going straight to DL after we get of the boat so packing essentials is important.

Any ideas on good shuttle companies to get us from the airport to our hotel when we arrive, or do you think it would be cheaper to just catch a cab?

We are taking the DCL bus back to LAX and from there catching the Disneyland Express to our Anahiem hotel. It's much cheaper than a cab.

I asked specifically about that. I said that I want the Visa to book a DCL/DLR vacation. They still said we don't have consistent income so we don't qualify. They said that I would probably be accepted as soon as I begin working again.

Me!! We leave in just over two weeks - too many things to do and so little time!

Look into super shuttle. We are taking that from disneyland to the port and is cheaper than using DCL. Since the way you are doing it you are paying for two seperate transfers. Plus you will get there faster. To find the port you need to click on from airport and scroll towards the bottom till you get to harbours.

Yes, I checked out the tour. It sounds great. I wanted to do a Giants' game that night. I could probably do both, but I'd be awfully tired the next day. I need to put this to my husband.

Hi Brenda,
Just booked the tour for Tuesday for 3 of us on the cruise. Hope you can make it ;)

Hi Maryann,

Stub hub is a great place to get tickets use them all the time. Tueday when we dock we are just going to do a self tour. I found this app (tripadvisor) it gives you a lot of places and thing to do. They also have it for San Diego. Wed. Disney museum and Chinatown.
San Diego not sure, my sister in law may meet us. Ensenada ?? may stay on the ship.

Also if you are staying at HoJo on harbor across from DL make sure your room is not on the freeway side, you will not sleep, you just hear traffic all night.

Saturday there maybe a meet-up at DL nothing has ben set I think.

DominFam4- we'll be late, our board time is not til 3 :(. But we should definitely introduce Dahlia and Ava, Dahlia is in preschool too, so should be okay. I worry about her having an accident though, since she gets distracted and forgets about using the toilet. Is Ava totally trained?

Trudduck- glad to see more toddlers on board! We're going to have a blast! Maybe we should schedule a parents of toddlers meet up for the kiddos and the adults can go to one of the bars!

We might be able to make it. We just had to check what day the Walt Disney Museum tour was. That's on Wednesday, so we should be able to make it.

Congrats on booking.
