Sept 11 3 day Wonder? Am I the only one?

So, Ike is now a hurricane and has changed course for the bahamas!!! :sad2:

Yep, and I can't believe how quickly he went from a Category 1 to a 3!! Only within a couple of hours!! :scared1: Now I'm worried that if he does head up the east coast that my flight on Wednesday could be affected. :sad2:

BTW, Jason just called to let me know that he received his birth certificate today! :yay: Whew! What a relief! He's a little worried because he says that the seal isn't raised all that much, but I think that he'll be fine. :goodvibes

Phew!!! I'm glad that worked out for him (and you)!!! Yippee! One week from today and I'll be in FL. :thumbsup2:

I can't wait to meet everyone :hippie: :cheer2: :grouphug: :dance3:

Hello guys :) I'm not on this cruise, but my coworker in the office next to me is, so we've been chatting about it since he booked it a few months ago!

Is there anyone else doing Comfort Suites/Atlantis? I showed him how to book it, and his wife is very nervous that they'll be denied entry, so I've been trying to calm their fears. :)

They will NOT be denied entry. I have been to Atlantis enough and spend enough time on a Bahama cruise board to see how many people go there daily - no one has been denied. ;)

HOWEVER...lol....I did NOT book Atlantis for this cruise because I was worried about the hurricane situation and the unstable weather. By booking an excursion through the cruiseline, they can refund your money if we miss the port. By going direct to CS, he will be out of luck if we are rerouted. Which is a strong possibility for this time of year.

Tell him to bring with him the phone number for CS, the cancellation policy and a cell phone. If the ship is rerouted, then he can call and cancel, facing no cancellation fees as long as he is within the time allowed.

If he simply doesn't show up, they will bill his credit card.

---------------------

For everyone else....Carnival Miracle was on a CARRIBEAN cruise this week - they got rerouted and are now going to RHODE ISLAND and Port Canaveral. Can you imagine?????? The people on board are not happy. They are calling it the "Mutiny on the Miracle" :scared1:

Good luck everyone! I changed our plans, we are now leaving this Friday. I am going to try to get out of here before Hanna knocks on my door. ;)

Now a cat 4 hurricane looking to hit when we set sail!

Shhhhh Ike will hear you. :scared1:

Actually I am not concerned right NOW. I was looking at the news and they said it may take 3 different paths. It could go West right over Cuba. It could turn upward and go right back out to sea. Or it could take a direct hit to Bahamas and then to Florida. :rolleyes1

So mabye if we are real quiet, it won't hear us and we can sneak in and right back out again. ;)

Thanks for this! Yes, he's been coming around the corner into my lab almost hourly, asking for hurricane updates since I'm a nut about it. He told me this morning that he has it on paper that his cancellation date is September 10, and he's going to have his cell with him.

I'll keep him updated, and thanks again :) Good luck to everyone here!

I can't believe how quicky it has strengthened and change course. I'm not so much worried about the cruise, but have to start worrying about our house. We've had several close calls-hoping this is another.

Kendra-

Just sat down and went through your PJ. Everything looks great...brings back memories. My DH and I got married at the wedding pavilion at Disney. Hopefully I'll get to see you in your dress.

AAAAAgh!!! I can't watch the weather channel anymore!!! I try not to get worried and upset but it keeps sneaking back up on me. Like fivepin my home is Florida, my husband and I have already said that unless we take a direct hit we are on the boat. Not so for my neightbors Ginny and Bob, she's freakin. She has already said she is not going we will see what happens thursday morning. Kendra, I hope all works out for you an your man. You have put so much time and effort into your beautiful wedding. Thanks for the little jumping pumpkin I will figure out how to add him. Safe travels for all coming to florida, this should be a real memorable cruise. Thanks for listening

patti

I wish everyone safe travels! Hopefully Ike will just "disappear" into the ocean somewhere and leave us alone! LOL

I was reading yesterday on Cruise Critic that a couple of the recent Carnival sailings had to be extended for a couple of days. Could you imagine getting a longer Disney cruise for the 3 night price? ;) I wonder how often that has happened. But I also wonder how crappy it is to be stuck a couple of extra days with bad weather, people having to get back to work, etc.

Ike, Ike, go away! :)

I heard we could go to Key West if we can't make it to the Bahamas. That might be nice.

And as much as I would like to get extended.....I hope we don't.....I can't afford an extra day off from work!

Well we are ONE step closer. Posted on the Disney Cruise web site today...the cruise before us isn't effected YET. So we just have to wait through one more sailing. Keep those fingers crossed!

Tropical Weather Update
As of Thursday, September 4, 2008

The safety of our guests and crew is always our first priority at Disney Cruise Line and we are closely monitoring the current weather conditions in the Caribbean through the National Weather Service.

At this time, we have not made any changes to the September 7th voyage of the Disney Wonder.

Should weather conditions change, our Captain can alter the ship's course or itinerary for the safety and well being of our guests.

THANK YOU for putting the list together. I have everything done and ready to be packed. WOOOHOOO!

So, how is packing going for everyone? I've started, but I still have lots to do!!! Laundry day is Sunday, but I'm sure I'll be done by Monday!

The only thing that I've done is make my packing list! :lmao: I never pack until the day before, but it could be the day of depending on Ike's course. :scared1: I'm supposed to fly in on Wednesday, but depending on where Ike heads, he could affect MCO flights I'm afraid. I just spoke with Southwest and they said that they would know 24 hours ahead of time whether or not that airport will be affected, and if it is, I can rebook for Tuesday at no additional cost. So, one way or another, I'm making it down there!

All packed, we are headed to portland tomorrow night and we fly out on saturday! Can't wait to meet everyone!!!!

I'm so consumed with getting ready for this trip (and hurricanes! ), I can hardly think of anything else.

Are we on to meet at 2pm on debarkation day? Where do we meet?

I hope everyone has a safe and easy journey to Orlando.
Looking forward to seeing you all!

We were going to meet at 2 at the Promenade Lounge which I believe is on deck 4. I just hope that Ike doesn't change our plans since he's heading right for Miami on Wednesday morning! :scared1:
