How about the back of the ship? We are in 7134 (very very rear of the ship). I am not prone to seasickness but Jeremy sometimes gets motion sickness on roller coasters, rides, etc.

We were as far back and up as you could go - 8602 (with the gigantic deck you can see from Beach Blanket/topsiders) - woke up each morning that we pulled into port to the sound/vibration of the thrusters (don't remember that from mid-ship Deck 5 or 6). Rocking/seasickness - no problem except one day in the Med with 20 foot waves and Gale-Foce 10 winds and it didn't matter where on the ship you were. I really cherish that port-purchased upgrade from my Cat 11 to Cat 3. Ahh, good times.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Just gave my two weeks notice:cool1::cool1: I'm retiring :)

(deleted - sometimes trying to be funny isn't). I think working was getting in the way of vacation.

We had a stateroom very close to the front of the ship during last years Westbound Transatlantic. We never experienced any problems with the movement of the ship, and wouldn't hesitate to have a room there again. It also made popping up to the snack bars and drinks station on deck 10 very quick and easy.

SW

I thought the drinks station was at the back of the ship? Hmm my memory is playing tricks on me ;)

Hoping it will be the same this year.

We prefer aft as it's closer to the topsiders/beach blanket & the drinks station:rolleyes1

So the drinks station is at the back as I remembered? :)

Except that the drinks station is at the back of the ship!!!

Ok three of us think drinks at the back :) It males no difference to me as I don't have a clue where my cabin will be ;)

We always go forward, either deck 6 or 7. Never had any trouble with bad sea sickness due to the ship rocking and I am very prone to it. Dramamine are amazing !!

The weather and seas were fantastic last year, I only needed one dramamine which I think was at Madeira when that storm was behind us one evening and the ship was a bit rocky (or it could have been the previous sea day) but it didn't last long anyway :cool1:

It was quite rocky on leaving Madeira. It helped me get to sleep though with that long slow roll :D It was a bit like being in a wave pool in the quiet pool the next day though. I know they let some of the water out of the pool as it was spilling out onto the deck. Great fun though!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I didn't have any problem getting to sleep either, as you say, we were rocked to sleep :lmao:

I just remember having great difficulty walking steadily going down to the Walt Disney Theatre as the ship was really rocking and I headed straight down to get a dramamine from Sick Quarters on Deck 1 as a precaution. Not bad though that that was the only rocky seas we had in 2 weeks..... roll on the same this year :rotfl:

Just found the ticker factory iphone app :woohoo: :woohoo:

Got the countdowns now on my phone :thumbsup2

I'm totally going to get that app:thumbsup2

THANKS everyone for the retirement good wishes. Lynne after 30 some years of transcribing, I do believe it is retiring from that and pursuing other dreams like cruising with you.:laughing:

I realized it's not this job from which you are retiring - it's the cumulative package. I see you must gotten your first job when they weren't so strict with child-labor laws. :goodvibes

Congratulations!

Congrats Sandy! That's so exciting :goodvibes

Wow I had no idea there was a ticker app. Thanks so much. :thumbsup2

I was looking last night on the DCL website and 3 sideways cabins were available on Deck 5 at the front. Don't know if they are still there this morning though.

There's four available now in that area - category 11B:
5509 5005 5505 5001

I had been keeping an eye on them if my parents were to book, and asked them again last week, but no luck. They've been available by typing in exact cabin number on DCL's website, but the other general 11B cabins must be booking now for these to start popping up (I think).

Easy access to kids clubs, few cabins so less foot traffic, and one deck away from fresh air on deck 4. :thumbsup2

I think I'm in 5509 on the Wonder for my May Alaska cruise - looking forward to the perceived extra space of a sideways.

First cruise was cabin 5522 - Secret Porthole - I love staying on Deck 5 on the Magic & Wonder. Congratulations to those who are staying there.

After thinking about getting a group together for hotel to port transfers, I changed my reservation to the Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona. Using a reward night, the nightly average out-of-pocket price is lower. And I really liked the look of that area when we were doing the hop-on/hop-off bus last year. Going to miss being at the same hotel with so many folks, but I'll see you at the Hard Rock.

I don't know what to do, we are on deck 6 at the moment aft, where we like. But I am just wondering whether to change for the more 'spacious cabin'....mmm I'm :confused3

Good morning fellow cruisers I hope you are all well? :)

I don't know if I have missed the answer on here which relates to the email that was sent about the shops etc being closed on the day we dock due to a public holiday. I myself have also enquired and here is the reply,

Hi Emma
You will be surprised to know that all business , attractions and services will be available on the day.
Have a good day and hope you enjoy your visit.
:yay:

I hope this is the case as I was looking forward to the shops and also Morrisons :rolleyes1 for a few items.

Apologies if this has been covered and I am just repeating the topic.

Like all cabins, they each have pros! For us, knowing it is 14 days, two little ones with us, and we WILL have nap time each day, we knew we'd be in the cabin more than usual. With just DH and I when staying in insides, we are only there to sleep/shower, but this will be different.

Here's a YouTube of a Sideways Cabin

Previous Deck 5 Sideways thread

And I know there's a thread that shows the floorplan someone did, but I didn't bookmark it and can't find it right now

Thanks for those Mandy :) I'll have a talk with DH and see what he thinks.
