Monarch's isn't much better .... 20kg per person. At least we get 23kg per person on our return flight so thats something I suppose.:thumbsup2

Oh man! I couldn't cope with that on the return....I would have to ditch all my clothes so I could still shop! :lmao: Are you flying with Virgin?

Thankfully my return baggage allowance is MUCH better than my outbound.

I think I have one bag at 20kg and another at 23kg I didn't quite understand the stupid booking system..Why they just couldn't include the luggage in the price is beyond me:)

That's a lot of pennies Susie for the flights.

You get lovely shampoo, conditioner and body lotion in your cabin. Mine always end up in my case for home :)

The booking system was very confusing, additional charges for everything! I looked at increasing the allowance & it was £10 per KG!

BA was pretty reasonable, 23kg each and I added one extra 23kg bag for £25.....I guess I can't moan really.

:rotfl2: I always bring lots of the lovely H2O stuff home with me too. ;)

I was very confused when booking the flights with EJ :)

I think we have 23kg each coming home. I think it's $70 with Aer Lingus for an extra bag.

I love using the body lotion when I get home, it reminds me of the cruise.

No .. USAirways .... actually I am not 100% certain what the allowance is .. will have to check it out.

I would definately need an extra bag......I love to shop.

Me too, it's a nice little reminder every day.

I am just waiting Claire...we'll more than likely get one as we do like to do a spot of shopping ourselves :rolleyes1

For the person who wanted to know about dresses from China(Ebay), and anyone else, Corinna sent the following reply to my PM.

Hi Marilyn,
sure, this is my favourite seller. I used them 3 times now and the dresses are all three stunning. They are an absolute charm to work with:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/angel-kiss168

I ordered from them once and got quick and friendly service and love the dress they made. However, their selection of styles is not as good.

Does anyone have advice on who to use for Travel Insurance? We booked through AAA, but did not buy the insurance through them.

Thanks!
Connie

Connie, I always pick a policy from Insuremytrip.com. You enter your particulars and the site shows a bunch of policies to pick from at different prices. READ the details.

I personally want a policy that has a 100K medical evacuation (because if you need it you need it and it's very costly) plus the usual trip interruption, loss baggage etc. for a 63 year old for this trip I paid about 70$ us, a 75 year old on the same trip, it was about 90$.

A married couple, age 63 on a 7 night cruise was $102 together.

Dan, if you are doing the linking of dining reservations, can you please add Andrew and I? I know that DCL generally tries to put families traveling with children together but 13 is that awkward age -- not truly a child and certainly not an adult.

When I told Andrew that we would likely be placed at a table with another family with children his first fear was that he would be surrounded with 2 and 3 year olds! (No offense intended to those traveling with very young children.) While I don't think that DCL would do this, we do understand that many of the children traveling will be less than school-age due to the timing of the cruise.

Thanks!

Karen

On our EBTA, my 16 yo niece and I were seated with a mom + 4 yo and a mom + 11 yo. Good thing my niece likes little children - she entertained the 4 yo almost every night, giving the mom a break. The 11 yo was very mature and usually interacted with her mom. After several days, the entire table just gave in and conversed with each other.

Perhaps we'll be able to get several of the larger tables for the DISers and then kid ages won't be so important.

Just checked our weight allowance coming back and it's 50 lbs pp. I converted this and it equals 22.67 kg. Worse than I thought:sad2:

Does anyone know if you pay for an extra bag ( $55 ) does that mean you get the extra weight allowance of 50lbs, or do you have to spread your allowance across the 2 bags.

Husband is officially in mourning since I told him Morrison's was closed on that Monday in Gibraltar :scared1:. He was counting on buying some of the english beers. He said we'll just have to cancel the cruise now (especially after I said there might not be a Mickey's Halloween party on the two nights after our cruise)! Things are looking bad folks .........I've got 6 more months to cheer husband up from the depressing news! Wish me luck!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao:

I haven't been brave enough to tell my husband that Morrison's will be closed while we are in Gibralter. But we'll probably have loaded up so much on wine/liquor in Barcelona that either we won't fit into our stateroom or the ship will be too heavy to set sail...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

What's up with Mickey's Halloween party? That's the first I've heard they may not have it. What are you going to do?????

I just had a look for you Sarah. I am pretty sure that for $55 you can check a 3rd bag weighing up to 50lbs on top of the two free one's. :thumbsup2

Checked them out, but soon found out I fit the stereotypical Dutch; found seller way to expensive. Second is somewhat better, but I'm getting 2 or 3 dresses even for those prices. I'm cheap, I confess.

The 50 pounds/23 kg (they do not become to precise, so they do 23) is basically the standard by now on about 99,9% of all of the flights EU-USA and vice versa when flying in eco. Unless you are member of the airlines FF-program and have status. With many of them you can then check in a second bag free of charge. :thumbsup2

If you'ld pay for a second bag, you'ld have to use a second bag. Spreading it would mean spreading it amongst passengers, which would not work with the "putting it onto one person". Adding it into your first bag isn't allowed either as you'ld go overweight with 2 times 23 kg. You aren't even allowed to just go upto the heavier 32 kg/70 pounds (industries max. allowed to prevent workers from too heavy lifting) with most airlines. That way you'ld pay the overweight price per kg which is more expensive than just paying the second bag fee. In all simplicity a second bag is the cheapest and roomiest way to buy extra space if needed.

Thanks for clarifying ... so an extra bag would just buy me extra space but not extra kg. Never mind. I don't need extra space as I have a large bag!

Nono, you'ld buy the space and the KG. If you are travelling with the 2 of you, you get 2 bags free for a total of 46 kg. If you were to buy one "second bag", you'ld get a third bag and a third 23 kg, so a total of 69 kg's. Only thing is, that they tend to not allow you to put that third 23 kg's in bag one as a total or spread it over bag 2 and 3. Where as with bag one and two, you are allowed to play with the total kg and do not have to make it 23-23 but are also allowed to go 20-26 for instance, as long as you are within one travelparty on one itinerary (which you as partners obviously are)

We're going to load up in Barcelona too...El Cortes Ingles?(sp?)....and someone said on here there was a small market in Madiera. If not....we'll do what we did last cruise......have a HUGE bill to pay for at end of cruise!

I'm just depressed about possibly no Halloween party at MK! That's the whole purpose to staying because I've done about the special events except that one! UGH! :headache: There's always something to do at WDW so we'll come up with something!

How was your Mardi Gras vacation! Loved Roger's sign! So funny! Sounds like you two had a great time! Glad to have you back! :)

Thanks! It's good to be back home - we had so much fun! :hippie: We LOVE New Orleans!

So, what are they doing at WDW instead of the Halloween party? Have they just rescheduled it? I know you're disappointed....but hey, maybe you can do the WBTA again NEXT YEAR and catch the Halloween party then!!! :thumbsup2

Seems to me there's a post out there that says what information is needed for you to send to DCL - let's see who can find it first. :surfweb:

Welcome aboard all newbies! We are 3 women "of a certain age" traveling together - we met on the DIS through the scrapbooking board. Willing to link dining (main) with other lone travelers, if anyone wishes.

+ Goofologist and Pixie Dust for Me!

Please send me a PM with your 8 digit Disney Reference / Real Name / Main or Late Seating and I will get all you added to the list.

The only thing I can guarentee is that we will be inthe same area, however I will be sure to put special requests in.

YAY!

Dan

Oh deary me!!! :rotfl2: I posted the below on my old Panama Canal thread 2008 instead of this. anyway copying it here.

Here is a map showing the location of the Carrefour supermarket on Las Ramblas.

Doesn't look like that link works.

Looks like there are some closer to the port too.
