Can anyone tell me where the Supermarket is in Barcelona, I think I recall someone mentioning one nearby? I am staying at Hotel Denit, which is near Plaza de Cataluna. Thanks.

I thought I remember reading that it is called El Corte Ingles and it is by the HRC on Plaza de Cataluna. It is a department store that also happens to have a wine section. Others will correct me if I am wrong. ;)

There could be some cheaper wine to be had in the smaller supermarkets though. I know there was one quite a bit lower down Las Ramblas. We used to shop at that one, though not wine as I can't drink alcohol now, but there was alcohol there.

Oh dear, never mind I am sure we will all manage somehow! I guess we can stock up a bit in Barcelona, i'm planning on taking an extra couple of large holdalls so i'll have to fill them up and take them on the ship as carry ons.

Here's the details from the beginning of the thread for your info.

El Corte Ingles, which is a department store located at the top of Las Ramblas. The wine department is on the lower level, in the grocery store. The selection is fabulous, and the prices incredible!

We didn't go in there the last few times, but we did go past it and you definitely won't miss where it is :) it's not far from where you are

Just googled it, link below:-

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&s....064941&sspn=11.540145,26.630859&ie=UTF8&z=18

4 minute walk.... sorted !!

Dan, if you are doing the linking of dining reservations, can you please add Andrew and I? I know that DCL generally tries to put families traveling with children together but 13 is that awkward age -- not truly a child and certainly not an adult.

When I told Andrew that we would likely be placed at a table with another family with children his first fear was that he would be surrounded with 2 and 3 year olds! (No offense intended to those traveling with very young children.) While I don't think that DCL would do this, we do understand that many of the children traveling will be less than school-age due to the timing of the cruise.

Thanks!

Karen

Our thoughts and prayers are with all impacted by the earthquake and tsunamis. Very scary pictures!

We really learned how awful brain cancer is, and pray none of you ever have to deal with it for a loved one. (Stealing a few minutes on the computer now.)
My heart really goes out to your family Mandy. Unfortunately I have lost a very close member of my family to this horrible disease. My dear Mom lost her battle with this cancer.

Yeah, I know I'm stalking the thread. Just try to kick me off. ;)

Those jumping onto Ebay and buying dresses, perhaps some will want to talk behind screens to make sure no dresses are showing up double, tripple and more? I could see where some perhaps wouldn't be too happy about that?

To give an idea of what is possible, I've bought this dress myself. Not sure which night I'll be wearing it, am leaning towards semi-formal.
It could be either Jacqueline :thumbsup2

I'm thinking we're going to have to get some things at Duty Free as we're staying at the Airport Hotel, been looking on the airport duty free shop but it's not a very big selection.

Thank you all. :worship: I couldn't remember the name of it, it's very close to where we are. :thumbsup2

Do you know the name or address of the one you went to Marilyn? Was it actually on Las Ramblas?

That's a shame Michelle. Have you got a good luggage allowance? Perhaps bring a couple of your favourites with you?

We discovered a fantastic supermarket not far down Las Ramblas last year for the WBTA. Actually came across it by accident as we dashed in there to get away from the torrential rain!! We stocked up on wine and general essentials there and the wines were types that I knew and they had big brand names for great prices :thumbsup2

When we are there for our 10 night Med Cruise in June, I will check out which one it is and post the information :cool1:

That must be the one we found. We thought it pretty good too.

I believe it is a Carrefours one. Says here it is 113 Las Ramblas.

That is exactly correct. We bought some bottles here last time :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

No, rubbish allowance, we're flying with Easyjet.

I might have to rethink our overnight stay....will have to have a talk with DH.

That beautiful purple dress would look fab on Villains night Jacqueline!!

Husband is officially in mourning since I told him Morrison's was closed on that Monday in Gibraltar :scared1:. He was counting on buying some of the english beers. He said we'll just have to cancel the cruise now (especially after I said there might not be a Mickey's Halloween party on the two nights after our cruise)! Things are looking bad folks .........I've got 6 more months to cheer husband up from the depressing news! Wish me luck!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao:

I know what you mean then!!! Easyjet's allowance is shocking, we were originally booked with them but I changed to BA so it's a bit better now.

We will transfer our Easyjet flight for a short break in Europe sometime next year instead. :thumbsup2

Monarch's isn't much better .... 20kg per person. At least we get 23kg per person on our return flight so thats something I suppose.:thumbsup2

just priced up british airways from manchester to try and get a better allowance but the price was £788 each so think we will stick with easyjet lol, do you get shampoo and conditioner in your cabin each day like in the hotel as that would save us some weight, thanks susie

Lots to catch up on here!

Jacqueline - beautiful dress, and excellent eBay advice! I've picked up quite a few things for excellent prices. Now I just have to lose the weight to fit into them! Good inspiration, though.

I'm so bummed about Morrison's! I was sooo looking forward to that - it's like a whole excursion has been cancelled. :rotfl: But in the grand scheme of things...

Dennis has a niece and nephew-in-law in the Air Force stationed in Japan. Word is, they're okay.

My DH John was quite keen as well and enjoyed them very much as he is a WW2 History buff. My Dad was involved in a lot of interesting WW2 exploits and we have all of his memorabilia from his service in the war.

I'm a bit of a WW2 buff, too. Dad was in the RCAF, and got overseas towards the end of the war. He mostly talks about outwitting his annoying c.o.'s when they gave stupid assignments. He doesn't say much about being overseas. I'm planning to see the siege caves while we're in Gibraltar.

Hi all....We've been booked on this sailing since the 2010 EBTA and are now coming out of the shadows.

:welcome: We're Dennis and Pat. This will be our 3rd cruise (all DCL) and first time over 4 nights. It's my present to me for the "anniversary of my 39th birthday." (Actually, that's in August, but DCL wouldn't change the date of the cruise for me).

Always afraid to make plans with unknown people - what if they are all wild, party-harders :scared1:? I was hoping to divine some insight by reading posts. :goodvibes So far, nobody has scared me yet.

Really?? Did you see the pictures of my dog a few pages back?? :rotfl: (Page 128, to be specific)

I think I have one bag at 20kg and another at 23kg I didn't quite understand the stupid booking system..Why they just couldn't include the luggage in the price is beyond me:)

That's a lot of pennies Susie for the flights.

You get lovely shampoo, conditioner and body lotion in your cabin. Mine always end up in my case for home :)
