My brother sailed wbta on P&O about the same time in September last year and had calm sailing all of the way. Hopefully we'll get the same this year?

British Airways operate 8 flights per day between Heathrow terminal 3 and Barcelona, terminal 1, and 1 per day between London City and Barcelona. Definitely worth a look on BA.com

Graeme.

and we were quoting you the price for BA in US $, not 85 euros x 1.4 exchange = 119 + 40 euros x 1.4 = 56 (that's $175) - and if you need to check a bag on easyJet, another 15 euros if booked ahead of time and under 20kg.

And loss of time in Barcelona!

Advice from someone living in the UK....take the BA flight out of London City. The journey across London to the airport is easy and the people speak English if you have queries.

The little extra in price is worth it for the extra luggage you can take plus as auntlynne says if you go the train and easy jet route you will have less time in Barcelona and more hassle:banana:

A little information regarding the Champagne Girls event!!

It is looking likely that there will be a $20 per person charge by dcl but that will include champagne, not sure exactly how much yet as I am still waiting for more details. Please note - once I have sent the final information on who is attending the event to dcl then this charge will automatically be added to your stateroom regardless of whether you show up to the event or not.
(The final confirmation won't be sent until a week or so before we depart, I also need to gather more information, state room no's etc, I will request this when I know exactly what info dcl require)

DCL have also said that we need a minimum of 20 (which won't be a problem) but a maximum of 50 participants....so if you want to sign up then please send me a PM asap as we already have 45 on the list!

If you have already sent me a message to join then please check your name is on the list below. If it's not then please let me know asap as I may have missed your PM/request.

I will hopefully have more information in the next week or so, along with a confirmed time & date. I will let you know as soon as I have more information.

In the meantime get those pink boas & tiara's ready ladies!!! We are going to have so much fun!

Graeme.

I'm confused... :confused3

I'm also from the UK & was recommending they take the BA flight from Heathrow or London City airport?

I am flying BA to Barcelona from Heathrow on the 7th. :)

also to cliffy and chris&jeremy, the pub crawl is on the 2nd formal night right? wasn't that originally because it was the only sea day that didnt clash with anything else?
now that the palo high tea has been cancelled for the 13th (2nd sea day), would it make more sense to move the date? just wondering about the shall-we-say logistics of having a quite extensive pub crawl on a formal night?

Claire

A few cruises ago, I bought some "inexpensive" magnetic paper on ebay. Well, it was too thick and broke TWO printers. Not so inexpensive! Now I print on photopaper, do a cold laminate and put self-adhesive magnetic paper on the back.

DISCLAIMER: The following story is a riveting tale about me and my printer - if you have high blood pressure, you may not want to read it because it is so thrilling.

I had a little trouble w/ it last night but took a flashlight to the printer and looked inside so I could figure out exactly what the problem was. The magnet paper by Avery (from Walmart) is matte and really thin, so that wasn't the issue - it was that the printer rollers caught the paper and then it wouldn't go up into the printer where it needed to.

So, I took the paper and rolled it up so it would have a natural curl to go up into the printer and it worked. I was very happy that it worked finally! Anyway, I have a few more magnets to print now but at least I know that they will print.

Ugh, when did I get to be so old??? The big 5-0 is Saturday. Eew.

Pat you're only as old as you feel! I know lots of people in their 50's and 60's who are more vibrant and youthful than people I know in their 20's and 30's. :goodvibes

I hope the new magnet sheets worked ok. :)

I'll have to google Keens as I don;t know what they look like. :confused

Yes I was finally sucessful w/ the magnets wooo-hooo!!!! :woohoo:

Keens are a type of walking sandal. I've never had any but they have a good reputation on the disboards as great park shoes. Joe was looking for a comfortable non-flip-flop sandal and I think he found it - he has been wearing them ever since we left the store yesterday.:rolleyes1

What aWe never had a pool growing up and I always wanted one. So fast forward SEVERAL years, my husband and I have bought our first house, had our first child, and we decide to install a pool. It was SUCH a big deal for me because we never had a pool or could afford one growing up. I got to design it, pick out special tiles representing our family (a Gator for me, a lobster for my husband who is from Maine, and a little Nemo fish for my son). I even put a family of four dolphins in the bottom so if we had a second child (which we have) he would be represented also.

Right before they finished my husband got a job in NC and we decided to move up here. We only had the pool for about 3 months I heated that pool and used it and the hot tub every day before we left. It is so weird, my closest friends in the world live in Orlando and I visit them when we're in Orlando, and I miss them a lot but whenever I plan a visit back to Orlando the FIRST thing I imagine (but haven't had the courage to do) is to go by our old house and ask the owners if I can look at the pool. I mean, it is REALLY weird, I am getting misty eyed right now thinking about that pool!:lovestruc:lovestruc

I remember when River Country opened!! Two of my sisters were working at Fort Wilderness and they would take me there sometimes. My oldest sister would sometimes dress as Chip/Dale for the nightly campfire thing they did at FW, and I remember following her back to wherever they would change and the handler would be turning to me and saying, "Chip and Dale have to go home now" and I would be saying "But that is my sister!" In retrospect, I probably got her in a lot of trouble :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Awww, I think that is a really cute story about the pool. Hey, you never know, you may have another pool in your future!

I really enjoyed your story about your sister being a character :goodvibes

while we're getting people to check things, am i missing any events off the calendar?

Ahhhh that makes perfect sense.....I think the little bit of sun we are having has fried my brain. :goodvibes

Oh that is too funny - I know exactly where Andover Lakes is! Which sub-sub-subdivision of Eastwood does Ian live in? We lived in Augusta...Maybe they bought our old house :thumbsup2

It is too bad Ian isn't going - I think you mentioned he is 7? So is my oldest son who is coming along...

When we lived in Orlando and would drive from our house to my mom's (Grandma's) I would sing to Jonas - "Over the speedbumps and through Eastwood, to Grandmother's house we go; Mommy knows the way, to drive the Hond-A; So, over the speedbumps and through Eastwood..." Those were good days

We live in east Orlando - Andover Lakes, but Ian (and family) live in Eastwood! 7 miles from door to door. You're certainly right about a small world! Our church - St Stevens Presbyterian was originally founded in Azalea park, but is now located on Lake Underhill. Unfortunately Ian will not be sailing with us this time, but we'll be taking a short cruise with him on the DREAM in Jan. He wants to show us the aqua duck ( or human straw) in action.

while we're getting people to check things, am i missing any events off the calendar?

Karen can you add the DIS farewell lunch for the last sea day please. :thumbsup2

Also the Mixology & Mojito tasting's aren't on the list but i know we don't have a firm date for those yet, mind you I don't have a firm date for the champagne girls either at the moment.

Sorry what I meant was . . . Sinnika and Pinky, I agree with you . . . sorry if I've confused anyone . . .

No confusion for me. But then I am always confused myself! :) I had hoped to make a stopover in London as a friend of mine was going to be working for Dolly Parton who is performing at the 0-2 theater, but my friend is staying stateside, so I booked straight to Barcelona (via Philadelphia).

Any foodies out there? Anyone considering taking a cooking class? Found this one on Trip advisor - its ranked #1 in Barcelona http://www.cookandtaste.net/ They have half day (3.5 hour) classes at 11am and 5pm. I'm really thinking about doing it. Flight lands at 8:30am so the 11am one might be cutting it close.

What time is the meet at the Hardrock Cafe? Just trying to plan Friday.
And is anyone wanting to go to this Flamenco show Friday night:
www.restaruantenervion.com
Starts at 9pm. Thought it would be fun, but would need to travel back to the Renaissance hotel that night so don't want to do it alone. Maybe if others are interested that are staying at the Renaissance, we could share a cab back. I am very flexible with plans, but like to have a plan A, and a plan B....;) And have been known to throw all plans out the window and go with the flow! :cool2:

I think this would be a good idea Karen as formal night in itself has a lot going on pre-dinner .... cocktails in the atrium and a lot of people wanting photos in their formal wear.

This subject may have already been covered, but I didn't see it. What is the weather like crossing the southern Atlantic? My last transatlantic crossing was from Southampton to New York in 1953 and we had a hurricane at sea!

Well I can only go from our last year's WBTA and the weather was magnificent, truly amazing. I so hope it will be just the same, but we can't really expect it. It was hot, hot, hot, with sunshine, and only the one rain shower at the other end of our 5 sea days. Then once we hit the Caribbean it became very humid too. We were lucky there in that only a week or so later the Virgin Islands had the worst rain for many years.

People told us beforehand that it had more chance of being rougher then the spring EBTA and of course it is in the hurricane season. Having said that the temperatures are obviously generally warmer that time of year. One of our CM friends told us at the end of the cruise that we would never know how hard the captain and crew worked to keep us out of rain etc, so all this helps.

We need all hurricanes to stay far far away!!

I just sent Dan an email, I don't think any of us are beholden to one date over another. Will get back to everyone ASAP about changing it.

I think the plan is to meet up at about 6pm ... it will be very flexible as to how long people stay, but that gives people the chance to do something else later in the evening. We are eating in the Hard Rock, and then will probably jsut wander the gothic quarter after that.
